Contractors in Aspen will be required to keep it down this summer, with Aspen City Council’s approval on Tuesday of new construction management rules that cap project-site noise at 70 decibels.
The current limit of 80 decibels will remain in place during the winter months, except on Aspen’s pedestrian malls, where it will be lowered to 70 in both seasons. Officials from the city’s engineering department, who oversee construction management, said the lower level in the summer is a nod to people spending more time outside in the warmer months.
