The World Health Organization was established on the first World Health Day in April 7th 1948 in Geneva Switzerland. The 1949 budget was 47 million dollars and in 2012, the budget was a around $4B. Most of the cash is voluntarily given.WHO is partnered with 473 NGOs, 189 of which is "Official." With the help of other NGOs and Governments WHO has positively changed everything from this staggering list.
Of special note are Polio, Smallpox, and HIV. Polio has nearly been decadecimated. Smallpox was completely eradicated which was the first time ever that a disease was wiped out. Between 2009 and 2015, WHO aims to reduce HIV in people ages 15-24 by 50%, in children by 90%, and reduce HIV related deaths by 25%.
WHO conducts the "World Health Survey" with 400,000 participants over 70 countries. They also publish the "World Health Report" and created the WHO surgical checklist.
If I have a list for this video, so should surgeons poking a knife in someone's head.
Controversies are plentiful for an organization this large. The WHO denounced the Roman Catholic church for opposing condom use. They created a report suggesting that sugar should be less than 10% of our diet. They also made an agreement with International Atomic Energy Agency such that each organization must consult with the other when it comes to nuclear health and safety. Finally, WHO declared a swine flu pandemic in 2009 but most don't agree that it was pandemic-like.
In 2012, there were 194 member states including all of the United Nations except Liechtenstein. What up Liechtenstein?
The legislative and supreme body of WHO is the World Health Assembly located in Geneva. There are 34 technically qualified people in the executive board. Below the assembly are five Regional Offices ran by regional committees consisting of health department heads of multiple governments. Each office is a meeting place for surrounding countries. Finally, there are 147 country offices usually located in capitals that advise governments on health issues.
WHO employs 8500 people worldwide and they don't hire smokers. There are goodwill ambassadors like the famous Jet Li, Nancy Brinker, Peng Liyuan, Yohei Sasakawa, and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, and some guy named Craig.

The World Health Organization’s cancer agency gave the most definitive response yet today about the relation between meat and cancer. Processed meats - such as bacon, sausages and hot dogs -are “carcinogenic to humans” and were added to their list of class 1 carcinogens, their highest most dangerous category. To put that in perspective, cigarettes, asbestos, and plutonium are also class 1 carcinogens.

The warning says the virus is spreading at an "explosive" rate with nearly 4 million facing possible infection in the Americas.
Brazil, the largest country in Latin America, has been hit the hardest.
CCTV America's Jim Spellman reports.
The Zika virus is now in 23 countries in the Americas and could infect up to four million people in the next year.
The World Health Organization is scrambling to address the crisis, with no specific treatment and no vaccine.
Better diagnostic methods are being developed, but it could takes months, even years, before they are developed.

ZIKA VIRUS WARNING - World Health Organization Sends Dire Warning To Humanity
The World Health Organization announced it will convene an Emergency Committee under International Health Regulations on Monday, February 1, concerning the Zika virus ‘explosive’ spread throughout the Americas. The virus reportedly has the potential to reach pandemic proportions — possibly around the globe. But understanding why this outbreak happened is vital to curbing it. As the WHO statement said:
A causal relationship between Zika virus infection and birth malformations and neurological syndromes … is strongly suspected. [These links] have rapidly changed the risk profile of Zika, from a mild threat to one of alarming proportions.
WHO is deeply concerned about this rapidly evolving situation for 4 main reasons: the possible association of infection with birth malformations and neurological syndromes; the potential for further international spread given the wide geographical distribution of the mosquito vector; the lack of population immunity in newly affected areas; and the absence of vaccines, specific treatments, and rapid diagnostic tests
Scientists in Brazil believe the devastating Zika virus may have already crossed over to the common mosquito, dramatically increasing the risk of it spreading worldwide. The Brazilian government is already struggling to contain a growing public health disaster. "Zika Virus" Americas America "South America" mosquito "dengue fever" health 2016 virus doctor viral infection country world global warning asia europe 2017 risk "high risk" travel traveling injection jab family community u.s. usa america "united states" prepare "health care" "travel insurance" population birth vaccine treatment medicine weather "high risk" uk emergency control international "elite nwo agenda" research false flag agenda end game illuminati george soros survival bunker alex jones infowars exposed truth new world order crisis obama third 3rd term clinton montagraph
There are suspicions the mosquito-borne virus is linked to more than 4,000 babies with brain deformities in South America’s largest country.
The authorities have called troops out on to the street and deployed teams of health workers to try to combat the spread but so far those at the forefront admit they are nowhere near succeeding. The World Health Organisation has convened an emergency committee to discuss the “explosive” spread of the Zika virus, which has been linked to thousands of birth defects in Latin America.
“Last year the disease was detected in the Americas, where it is spreading explosively,” Margaret Chan, the WHO director general, said at a special briefing in Geneva. It was “deeply concerning” that the virus had now been detected in 23 countries in the Americas, she added.
One WHO scientist estimated there could be 3-4m Zika infections in the Americas over the next year. Oxitec first unveiled its large-scale, genetically-modified mosquito farm in Brazil in July 2012, with the goal of reducing “the incidence of dengue fever,” as The Disease Daily reported. Dengue fever is spread by the same Aedes mosquitoes Incidentally, President Obama called for a massive research effort to develop a vaccine for the Zika virus, as one does not currently exist. Brazil has now called in 200,000 soldiers to somehow help combat the virus’ spread. Aedes mosquitoes have reportedly been spotted in the U.K. But perhaps the most ironic — or not — proposition was proffered on January 19, by the MIT Technology

GENEVA — The World Health Organization (WHO) warned on Monday that mosquito-borne Zika virus, which has been linked to thousands of birth defects in Brazil, is likely to spread across the Americas with the exception of Canada and Chile, Reuters reported.
The transmission of the Zika virus was first detected in Brazil in May 2015, and since then it has been spreading across many countries in the Americas.
The virus is transmitted by the Aedes genus mosquito, which can also carry the dengue and chikungunya viruses. Zika causes a mild disease with fever, rash and joint pain, but it is rarely fatal and can be cured with bed rest and liquids.
In Brazil however, health officials have also linked it to infant birth defects.
According to the WHO, since October the country has reported almost 4,000 cases of microcephaly among infants, a condition that causes an abnormal smallness of the head associated with incomplete brain development.
As a response to the outbreak, Brazil, together with Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador and Jamaica have recommended women to delay pregnancies, the BBC reported.
Sao Paulo-based Butantan Institute is also planning to develop a vaccine for the disease.
British drugmaker GlaxoSmithKline (GSK.L) is also studying how to use its technology on Zika.
According to Reuters, Zika transmission has not been reported in the United States yet. However, a woman who fell ill in Brazil delivered a baby affected by brain damage in Hawaii.
The virus was first discovered in a monkey in the Zika forest, near lake Victoria in Uganda in 1947. It then spread to Southeast Asia and French Polynesia, until it reached Brazil in 2014.

Antibiotic Resistance Explained
The Rise of the ‘Superbugs’
Antibiotic resistance is an emerging global epidemic that the World Health Organization calls a major threat to public health. At least 23,000 Americans die each year from infections caused by bacteria that can’t be treated with antibiotics, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The threat of drug-resistant bacteria was acknowledged when penicillin was discovered in the early 20th century. But new scientific research provides a better understanding of how these “superbugs” evolve defenses to outsmart modern medicine.
What Is Antibiotic Resistance?
Antibiotic resistance occurs when bacteria evolve around drugs, chemicals, or other agents designed to kill them. Often simply sharing a space — such as your stomach — with these agents enables bacteria to develop the defenses to become resistant to antibiotic assault.
This has led to deadly infections that are much harder to treat than they were a decade ago. Many experts warn that humans will be thrust back into a pre-antibiotic era if the trends continue.

Melinda Gates, co-Chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation addresses delegates at the World Health Assembly, 20 May 2014.
Ms Gates then highlighted ways to improve the health of mothers and newborn babies, emphasizing the value of linking efforts to improve reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health -- "the continuum of care".
She pointed out that: "If women can plan their families, they are more likely to space their pregnancies. If they space their pregnancies, they are more likely to have healthy babies. If women's babies are healthy, they are more likely to flourish as children. When mothers have healthy pregnancies, and when children thrive, the positive benefits last a lifetime."
She also called on delegates to pay more attention to newborn babies. Although there has been remarkable global progress in reducing the number of children dying before their fifth birthdays, neonatal mortality rates have declined at a slower pace. The Health Assembly will discuss a new action plan for newborns later this week. Ms Gates and other panellists at today's technical briefing discussed quality of care around childbirth and its potential to end preventable deaths of mothers and newborn babies and stillbirths, generating a "triple return on investment".

Can E-cigarette Regulation Protect the Public’s Health? Making Sense of the Science

The burgeoning e-cigarette market has provoked deliberations about emerging e-cigarettes science, public health concerns and regulatory policy approaches. Some scientists perceive e-cigarettes as a potentially less harmful alternative to traditional tobacco products. By contrast, others fear e-cigarette use will promote tobacco consumption by “re-normalizing” tobacco use, especially among teens and young adults. The FDA plans to regulate e-cigarettes and will release rules regarding warning labels, youth access and vending machine sales sometime in the future. The World Health Organization also has weighed in, issuing strong guidelines for regulation. These steps have been applauded by some public health pundits and criticized by others. This Forum event explored aspects of the fiercely debated e-cigarette market, including marketing to youth, content of warning labels, design of products, evidence for science-based policymaking, and context of e-cigarettes within the lengthy history of tobacco use and control.
Presented April 16, 2015 in collaboration with Reuters, this event was organized with the Center for Global Tobacco Control and the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
