Mass shootings and shooters, and the possibility of stopping spree killings is examined with former counterterrorism special agent,
Grant Murray.
Working with the
Department of Homeland Security, defending Presidents
Bush and
Obama, the public crisis of school shootings, and domestic + international terrorists--plus the
New York prison break of
Richard Matt and
David Sweat are broken down. We also get an unlikely defense of
Ben Carson as we tackle the epidemic of violence in
America on
Crime Time, hosted by
Allison Hope Weiner.
GUEST
BIO:
Grant Murray has served in four different positions with two different federal government agencies. He is a former
Special Agent with the
U.S. Department of Homeland Security specializing in counterterrorism. He was stationed in
New York City, and also traveled overseas fifty-two times in support of counterterrorism operations worldwide, including countries in
Europe, the
Middle East, and
Africa. He worked both covertly and as a member of an elite counter-terrorism security team, in which he provided overt security for several transportation venues, national security events, and three
U.S. Presidential details.
Prior to working for the Department of Homeland Security, Grant was a
Dive Operations Specialist for the
National Aeronautics and Space Administration (
NASA). He was responsible for preparing astronauts underwater for their
Extra-Vehicular Activity, or spacewalks. He served as a safety and rescue diver, underwater videographer, and technical diver. Grant then became a NASA
Protocol Officer in
Johnson Space Center's
Public Affairs Office, where he served as a NASA liaison to members of the
U.S. House and
Senate, foreign diplomats, and celebrities. He is also an experienced and accomplished public speaker, having given presentations about NASA to various audiences around the country.
After his government service, Grant gained extensive private sector experience in both the security and film industries. He has recently provided security for some of
Hollywood's highest-profile celebrities, and has provided security consulting for sports venues, industrial complexes, transportation hubs, and movie studios.
Grant also advised the
Los Angeles Police Department on implementing unmanned aerial vehicles, and is considered an expert on unmanned aircraft in security and law enforcement.
