"In the Afghan city of Kunduz, the U.S. dropped bombs on a hospital run by Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)). The airstrike killed at least nine of the hospital’s medical staff, and seriously injured dozens of patients. “Among the dead was the Afghan head of the hospital, Abdul Sattar,” reported the New York Times.
Jason Cone, MSF’s executive director, said the medical charity “condemns in the strongest possible terms the horrific bombing of its hospital in Kunduz full of staff and patients.” He added that “all parties [to the] conflict, including in Kabul & Washington, were clearly informed of precise GPS Coordinates of MSF facilities in Kunduz,” and that the “precise location of MSF Kunduz hospital [was] communicated to all parties on multiple occasions over past months, including on 9/29.”*

Doctors Without Borders has released a new report detailing the hospital bombing in Kunduz, Afghanistan. It describes the brutal details of patients burning in their beds, staff decapitated in the blasts, and doctors being gunned down in the streets from arial AC-130 fire as they tried to flee the massacre. Cenk Uygur, John Iadarola (Think Tank), Jimmy Dore (The Jimmy Dore Show Podcast), and Mark Thompson, hosts of the The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.
"But the medical group’s leaders maintain that was not a reason to bomb a fully functioning hospital with 105 patients and surgeries ongoing, the only one of its kind in northern Afghanistan.
“Wounded combatants are patients under international law, and must be free from attack and treated without discrimination,” said Christopher Stokes, the group's general director. “Medical staff should never be punished or attacked for providing treatment to wounded combatants.”
An internal review by Doctors Without Borders, known by its French initials, MSF, concluded that staff members were in full control of the hospital, that there were no armed combatants within the compound and no fighting in or near the trauma center before the airstrikes.”*

Welcome !
Today you decided to wear this t-shirt.
Wearing an MSF T-shirt means being part of a worldwide medical humanitarian organisation.
26,000 staff members around the world wear this t-shirt. Dozens of nationalities are represented.
MSF staff work in nearly 70 countries to provide emergency medical care and relief supplies directly to people who need it most.
Teams wearing this T-Shirt provide medical assistance to people struggling to survive:
• violence
• war
• epidemics
• hunger
• denial of healthcare
• population displacements
• natural disasters
Providing the best quality care in any and all circumstances requires a good supply network. That’s why, since the 1980’s, we have developed specialized logistics, able to respond in real time.
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and exclusion from healthcare.

There are nearly 6000 people living in an unofficial camp called "The Jungle" in Calais and MSF is building a new refugee camp in Grande Synthe, Dunkirk. But not everyone approves of having another refugee camp so close to Britain. MSF UK Director, Vickie Hawkins, answers 'nasty tweets' from people worried about the influx of people heading for Britain.

With different levels of experience, each volunteer must find their own way to face the challenges, the tough choices, and the limits of their idealism. Five diseases with the potential to become epidemics in 2016 are being highlighted by the international medical humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), as the World Health Organization’s executive board meets in Geneva.
Without proper investment in preventing and responding to outbreaks of cholera, malaria, measles, meningitis and a group of often-overlooked diseases spread by viruses and parasites, they are likely to pose an ever greater threat to people’s health in the year ahead.

For Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), the situation in Central African Republic (CAR) was unique: seeing a country descend into violence before its very eyes, being surround by killings and witnessing an entire community being targeted without being able to provide protection.
When the Seleka offensive began, MSF teams were already firmly established in the country. This documentary explores many of the questions raised by this situation: Did the teams know what was to come? What did they make of the increasing violence and the events taking place? What operational response was called for? Should MSF call for armed intervention? And what should the international community be doing? What assistance can MSF provide now?

"They've killed us, scattered us. It's very hard," says a woman from Crater in southern Yemen. This film documents the high level of violence in and around the Yemeni city of Aden. The violence intensified in mid-July this year when the coalition took over the city of Sanaa and many Houthist rebels fled. In a single day, MSF received 206 war wounded patients. While the world is preoccupied with Islamic State or political games around Ukraine, there’s another threat emerging from the West Africa - where people are dying by hundreds, reaped by the deadliest Ebola epidemic to be ever known to mankind. Efforts to contain it end in a failure, and the vaccine is nonexistent yet. Are we seeing another pandemic slowly growing up to strike at mankind? What should be done to stop it? What does it mean to be a doctor in a place where death reigns? We try to find out this together with the head of the Médecins Sans Frontières - Doctors Without Borders. Dr. Joanne Liu is on Sophie&Co; today.

US Sends Tank to Destroy Evidence at Doctors Without Borders Hospital
Friday, 16 October 2015
If you’re the U.S. military and you killed 22 doctors and patients while intentionally bombing a Doctors Without Border hospital in Afghanistan, what do you do next?
First, you deny all requests for an independent investigation. Check.
Second, you go to the scene of the war crime and destroy evidence. Check mate.
After changing its story many times, the US now admits that it intentionally threw bombs, for more than an hour,
at the now famous Doctors Without Borders hospital, proving accurate the assessment of DWB staffer Meinie Nicolai, who said the US attack was “a premeditated massacre.”
Since initial US claims that the protected DWB hospital was a “Taliban stronghold” and so forth have been debunked as stupid, the US now claims it targeted the hospital because one man,
a “Pakistan Inter-Services Intelligence spy”, was inside.
However, Glenn Greenwald points out that the US puppet government in Afghanistan has had it out for DWB for some time because they treat patients indiscriminately,
whereas US allies like Israel, for example, discriminate between patients, treating Al Qaeda fighters while targeting members of the UN-recognized Syrian government:
“Israel has opened its borders with Syria in order to provide medical treatment to Nusra Front and al-Qaida fighters wounded in the ongoing civil war, according to The Wall Street Journal.”
On October 14th, an “international panel” announced that it was “ready to investigate the deadly US [hospital] bombing”, but would need
“assurances from Barack Obama and the Afghan president, Ashraf Ghani, that their governments [would] comply.”
The US rejected the initiative for the investigation, and instead, on October 15th, sent soldiers to smash up the bombed hospital with a tank,
“destroy[ing] potential evidence” for the war crimes investigation.
To explain this, the US announced that the tank was carrying the US’s own “investigators”.
In the mean time, a whistle-blower has released classified documents on Obama’s global assassination ring that illustrate gross recklessness and
confirm that almost one hundred percent of the people being killed are not actual targets – though targeting people and executing them is also criminal.

“Humanitarian Lies”: Evidence Proves US Afghan Hospital Attack Was Deliberate

Changing US explanations following the October 3 Kunduz hospital attack were all lies – willful deception, covering up a deliberate attack on a Doctors Without Borders (MSF) facility.
Pentagon officials knew it was a hospital, yet attacked it anyway – multiple times for over an hour, killing 24 doctors, other medical staff and patients, injuring 37 others.
Make no mistake! This was a deliberately planned war crime. An AP report said “US analysts knew (the) Afghan site was (a) hospital.”
They’d been gathering intelligence on it for days – the strike authorized on the phony pretext of it being used by “a Pakistani operative…coordinat(ing) (with) Taliban activity,” said AP.
MSF stressed doctors, other medical staff and patients alone were in the facility – no Taliban, Taliban supporters, or other US-installed Afghan puppet regime opponents.

This is a screen capture of a Blog TV event I did with HonestDiscussioner and a friend, colleague and co-author of my article on free will and neuroscience. This was back in May, right after the 'rapture' hysteria, so we talk about a host of subjects, ranging from the rapture, to epistemology, Alvin Plantinga, naturalism, evolution, free will, neuroscience and so forth.
I'm posting this now because I'll be participating in another charity BlogTV event this weekend, this time for Medecins Sans Frontieres (also known as Doctors without Borders) is an independent humanitarian organisation that provides medical care throughout the world, regardless or race, religion or politics. HD and I should be on from 7-8 pm, EST, on Sunday.

This film traces the most significant positions taken by the organisation. This is one way to remember the silent victims of these tragedies which have marked history, but also to pay tribute to those who brought them relief.

The 2014 Ebola epidemic highlighted the global threat of disease. And while the need for new drugs and vaccines is clear, the research is often driven by profit. How can these opposites be reconciled, and what challenges do aid organisations face in the field?
