THE ROLLING STONES IN THE 1960'S
The Stones to their many fans are the greatest rock 'n' roll band in the world. Here you can trace their evolution in music in the 1960's towards their dominance for the next four decades. Without a shadow of doubt the story of '60s rock would be incomplete
without the Rolling Stones. Their r&b; roots when overlaid with hard rock lifted them into a different dimension.

She confessed her love to me
Then she vanished
On the breeze
Trying to hold on to that
Was just impossible
She was more than beautiful
Closer to ethereal
With a kind of
Down to earth flavor
Close my eyes
It's three in the afternoon
Then I realize
That she's really
Gone for good
Anybody seen my baby
Anybody seen her around
Love has gone
And made me blind
I've looked but I just can't find
She has gotten lost
In the crowd

'Doom And Gloom' marks the first time that Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood have been in the studio together for seven years. I had a dream last night
I was piloting a plane
And all the passengers were drunk and insane
I crash landed in a Louisiana swamp
Shot up a horde of zombies
But I come out on top
What's it all about?
Guess it just reflects my mood
Sitting in the dirt
Feeling kind of hurt
All I hear is doom and gloom
All is darkness in my room
And through the light your face I see
Baby take a chance
Baby won't you dance with me
Lost all the treasure in an overseas war
It just goes to show you don't get what you pay for
Battle to the rich and you worry about the poor
Put my feet up on the couch
And lock all the doors
Whats that funky noise?
It's the tightening of the screws
Sitting in the dirt
Feeling kind of hurt

Angie, Angie, when will those clouds all disappear?
Angie, Angie, where will it lead us from here?
With no loving in our souls and no money in our coats
You can't say were satisfied
But Angie, Angie, you can't say we never tried
Angie, you're beautiful, but ain't it time we said goodbye?
Angie, I still love you, remember all those nights we cried?
All the dreams we held so close seemed to all go up in smoke
Let me whisper in your ear:
Angie, Angie, where will it lead us from here?
Oh, Angie, don't you weep, all your kisses still taste sweet
I hate that sadness in your eyes
But Angie, Angie, ain't it time we said goodbye?
With no loving in our souls and no money in our coats
You can't say were satisfied
But Angie, I still love you, baby
Everywhere I look I see your eyes
There ain't a woman that comes close to you
Come on baby, dry your eyes
But Angie, Angie, ain't it good to be alive?

I walk smooth, ride in a mean, mean machine
Start it up
If you start it up
Kick on the starter give it all you got, you got, you got
I can't compete with the riders in the other heats
If you rough it up

Summary:
There is no denying the impact of a great Stones show, as demonstrated by this two-hour concert at Hampton Coliseum. After a warm introduction, The Rolling Stones take the stage for what was to be one of the final shows on the band's 1981 Tattoo You tour, and one of six of those tour dates taped for the King Biscuit Flower Hour. Opening with their classic 1966 single, "Under My Thumb" then blasting into "When the Whip Comes Down," followed by the always controversial "Let's Spend the Night Together," the group delivers a riveting 22-song set.
The band is in fine form, and Jagger leads a rousing sing-along during "You Can't Always Get What You Want," and injects humor when he informs the audience that saxophonist Ernie Watts is no relation to Stones drummer, Charlie Watts. "You Can't Always Get What You Want," "Time Is on My Side," "Miss You," "Honky Tonk Women" and "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction," which closes out the set, are the best songs and remind us why the Stones are the greatest rock 'n' roll band in the world, still crankin' it out after four decades on the scene.
The groundbreaking rock band from London had been together since 1962, and as with their other shows, the Stones play this concert with fire, passion, and the bravado of a talk-of-the-town arrogant, young band that knows they are simply the best there is.
Originally formed with Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Bill Wyman, and Brian Jones as a blues pub band (with the blessing and guidance of UK blues legend, Alexis Korner), The Rolling Stones quickly moved into the spot of being the "street-wise and gritty" alternative to the four-headed pop music monster The Beatles had become. They followed the Fab Four into the U.S. with the British Invasion, and quickly established their own musical credibility with a string of brilliant pop singles that included "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction," "Time Is on My Side," "The Last Time," "19th Nervous Breakdown," "Ruby Tuesday," and "Paint It Black." By the early '70s, the Stones took over as the premier British rock 'n' roll band, and continued their streak of hits with songs like "Jumpin' Jack Flash," "Brown Sugar," and "Start Me Up."
Although Mick Jagger and Keith Richards have often gotten the most attention, people should never mistake the fact that the Stones are a band in every sense of the word. Bassist Bill Wyman (prior to his departure in the early 1990s) and drummer Charlie Watts were just as important to the music as the Glimmer Twins; and Ron Wood, who had been in the band several years at this point, provides a strong counterpoint to the sloppy but soulful guitar licks of Keith Richards.
Despite ups and downs, drug busts, countless sold-out tours, great and poor LP releases, personnel changes, illnesses, and even deaths, the Stones have endured, decades after their formation. Jagger, Richards, and Watts remain from the original line-up and they continue to record and tour to this day.

The Rolling Stones are an English rock band, formed in London in April 1962 by Brian Jones (guitars, harmonica), Ian Stewart (piano), Mick Jagger (vocals, harmonica) and Keith Richards (guitars). Bassist Bill Wyman and drummer Charlie Watts completed the early line-up. The Rolling Stones raised the international regard for the primitive blues typified by Chess Records' artists such as Muddy Waters, who wrote the song Rollin' Stone after which the band is named. R&B; and blues cover songs dominated the Rolling Stones' early material, but their repertoire has always included rock and roll. According to critic and musicologist Robert Palmer, the Rolling Stones have endured and stayed relevant by remaining "rooted in traditional verities, in rhythm-and-blues and soul music", while "more ephemeral pop fashions have come and gone".
Jones initially led the band, but after teaming as songwriters, Jagger and Richards assumed leadership. By 1969 Jones' diminishing contributions to the band and his inability to tour the United States for legal and health reasons led to him leaving the band. Three weeks after his departure, Jones drowned. His immediate replacement Mick Taylor stayed with the band until 1974, and was replaced by Ronnie Wood. Wyman retired from the band in 1993, and his replacement Darryl Jones is not a full member. Stewart was taken from the official line-up in 1963 to continue as the band's road manager and occasional keyboardist until his death in 1985. Since 1982, Chuck Leavell has been the band's primary keyboardist.

I'm so hot for her, I'm so hot for her
I'm so hot for her and she's so cold
I'm so hot for her, I'm on fire for her
I'm so hot for her and she's so cold
I'm the burning bush, I'm the burning fire
I'm the bleeding volcano
I'm so hot for her, I'm so hot for her
I'm so hot for her and she's so cold
Yeah, I tried re-wiring her, tried re-firing her
I think her engine is permanently stalled
She's so cold, she's so cold
She's so cold, cold, cold
Like a tombstone
She's so cold, she's so cold
She's so cold, cold, cold, like an ice cream cone
She's so cold she's so cold
I dare not touch her my hand just froze
Yeah, I'm so hot for hot for her, I'm so hot for her
I'm so hot for her and even so
Put your hand on the heat, put your hand on the heat
C'mon baby, let's go
She's so cold, she's so cold, cold, she's so c-c-c-old
But she's beautiful, though
Yeah, she's so cold
She's so cold, she's so cold
She was born in an arctic zone
She's so cold she's so cold, cold, cold
I dare not touch her my hand just froze
She's so cold, she's so goddamn cold
She's so cold, cold, cold, she's so cold
Who would believe you were a beauty indeed
When the days get shorter and the nights get long
Lie awake when the rain comes
Nobody will know, when you're old
When you're old, nobody will know
That you was a beauty, a sweet sweet beauty
A sweet sweet beauty, but stone stone cold
You're so cold, you're so cold, cold, cold
You're so cold, you're so cold

The Rolling Stones - An English Rock Band | Rock Of Ages
The Rolling Stones are an English rock band formed in London in 1962. The first settled line-up consisted of Brian Jones (guitar, harmonica), Ian Stewart (piano), Mick Jagger (lead vocals, harmonica), Keith Richards (guitar), Bill Wyman (bass) and Charlie Watts (drums). Stewart was removed from the official line-up in 1963 but continued as occasional pianist until his death in 1985. Jones departed the band less than a month prior to his death in 1969, having already been replaced by Mick Taylor, who remained until 1975. Subsequently, Ronnie Wood has been on guitar in tandem with Richards. Following Wyman's departure in 1993, Darryl Jones has been the main bassist. Other notable keyboardists for the band have included Nicky Hopkins, active from 1967 to 1982; Billy Preston through the mid 1970s (most prominent on Black and Blue) and Chuck Leavell, active since 1982. The band was first led by Jones but after teaming as the band's songwriters, Jagger and Richards assumed de facto leadership.

WAITING ON A FRIEND
(M. Jagger/K. Richards)
Watching girls go passing by
It ain't the latest thing
I'm just standing in a doorway
I'm just trying to make some sense
Out of these girls go passing by
The tales they tell of men
I'm not waiting on a lady
I'm just waiting on a friend
A smile relieves a heart that grieves
Remember what I said
I'm not waiting on a lady
I'm just waiting on a friend
I'm just waiting on a friend
Don't need a whore
I don't need no booze
Don't need a virgin priest
But I need someone I can cry to
I need someone to protect
Making love and breaking hearts
It is a game for youth
But I'm not waiting on a lady
I'm just waiting on a friend

I must admit you broke my heart
The awful truth is really sad
I must admit I was awful bad
While lovers laugh and music plays
I stumble by and I hide my pain
The lamps are lit the moon is gone
I think I've crossed the Rubicon
And I, I, I, I, I, I, I
Walked the streets of love
And they're full of tears
And I, I, I, I, I, I, I

This clip is from one of the earliest known filmed live concert performances of the Stones. This is unique from the standpoint that there aren't the typical throngs of screaming girls in the audience and so you can actually hear what they're playing. Reelin' In The Years has over 25 hours of Stones footage dating back to the earliest known footage in 1964 through the mid-2000s. We were proud to be the main licensor (over 18 minutes) of footage for the recent Rolling Stones Crossfire Hurricane documentary.
Reelin' In The Years Productions houses the world's largest library of music footage, containing over 20,000 hours of material covering nearly every genre from the last 60 years. We have live concerts, TV appearances, interviews, in-studio segments, b-roll and more. In addition to music we have thousands of hours of interviews with the most recognizable celebrities, comedians, politicians, athletes, artists and authors of the 20th Century. If you need footage for your film, documentary, TV show, commercial, museum exhibit or presentation, we are your one-stop shop. Visit our online database at http://www.reelinintheyears.com to explore our archive, but please email us as we are constantly adding new material to the archive. We do not supply material to fans or collectors under any circumstance, so please do not contact us if that is your intention.

Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a mans soul and faith
And I was round when jesus christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name
But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game
I stuck around st. petersburg
When I saw it was a time for a change
Killed the czar and his ministers
Anastasia screamed in vain
I rode a tank
Held a generals rank
When the blitzkrieg raged
And the bodies stank
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name, oh yeah
Ah, what's puzzling you

Sought-after club performance released for the first time on DVD in four formats
Rare gig from the Rolling Stones in 1971 filmed at the Marquee Club
A classic, must-own performance
Part of the From The Vault series from The Rolling Stones archive
A sought-after, rare club performance from The Rolling Stones in 1971 filmed at London’s iconic Marquee Club will finally see the light of day, after almost two decades of being stored away in an attic. The Rolling Stones From The Vault: The Marquee – Live in 1971 will be released on DVD in four formats and on iTunes via Eagle Rock on 22 June 2015.
This remarkable performance was filmed for US television in 1971, shortly after The Rolling Stones had completed their 1971 Farewell Tour of the UK, and a month before the release of the album Sticky Fingers. The gig marked the first time tracks ‘Brown Sugar’, ‘Dead Flowers’, ‘Bitch’ and the rarely performed ‘I Got The Blues’ were showcased live; four tracks taken from the Sticky Fingers album. The line-up at this time was Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Mick Taylor and Bill Wyman.
The show was an intimate, rare club appearance and very little footage has been released, until now. Part of the “From The Vault” series of live concerts from the band’s archive, The Rolling Stones From The Vault: The Marquee – Live In 1971 is a must own DVD for any Stones fan, featuring carefully restored footage and sound mixed to perfection by Bob Clearmountain, including 5.1 surround sound on the DVD and SD Blu-ray formats.
The release of The Rolling Stones From The Vault: The Marquee – Live In 1971 coincides with the special edition of album Sticky Fingers, and includes alternative takes of ‘I Got The Blues’ and ‘Bitch’, plus a Top of the Pops performance of ‘Brown Sugar’ from 1971.

'Gimme Shelter' is the opening track on The Rolling Stone's 1969 album 'Let It Bleed' and although the first word was spelt 'Gimmie' on that album, subsequent recordings by the band and other musicians have made 'Gimme' the customary spelling.
The Rolling Stones first played the song live on the TV special, 'Pop Go The Sixties', on 31 December 1969.
'Gimme Shelter' was never released as a single however; it quickly became a staple of their live show, first performed during their 1969 American Tour. It has since been included on many compilation releases, including both 'Hot Rocks' 1964--1971 and Forty Licks, and concert versions appear on the Rolling Stones' albums 'No Security' and 'Live Licks'.
The song also appears on the 2008 Official Video release of the 1972 Rolling Stones tour, 'Ladies and Gentlemen: The Rolling Stones'.
Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, 'Gimme Shelter' was created from the combined efforts of the singer and the guitarist. Richards had been working on the song's signature opening in London while Jagger was working on the film Performance. The song is a churning mid-tempo rocker and begins with a rhythm guitar intro by Richards, followed by Jagger's lead vocal. On the recording of the album, Jagger said in a 1995 interview with Rolling Stone, "Well, it was a very rough, very violent era! The Vietnam War! Violence on the screens, pillage and burning and Vietnam was not war as we knew it in the conventional sense..." On the song itself, he concluded, "That's a kind of end-of-the-world song, really. It's apocalypse; the whole record's like that."

The latest selection in our Rolling Stones bootleg series documents something very rare: a Stones club show. "The hard gigs are the small ones," Keith Richards explains in the accompanying video interview. "If we can pull it off in a club, we can pull it off anywhere."
That's why the band traditionally kicks off each world tour with a surprise appearance in a suitably small space. For the 2005 t

This concert in Leeds' Roundhay Park was the final show of the band's tour for Tattoo You, which had begun over a year earlier. The crowd is massive, the band is tight, and Mick's pants are, well, they're equally tight. Multicolored, too.

It’s safe to say Selena Gomez’s personal life and career exploded near the end of 2015. The singer opened up about recording her most recent album, hanging out with the Victoria’s Secret models, and that cute moment when Justin serenaded her in public.
From dropping a hot album to having ex-Justin Bieber serenade her at a hotel bar, so much happened in Selena’s crazy life and she’s talking about it all to Rolling Stone magazine. Well, sort of.
Okay, so the ‘Same Old Love’ singer is fine talking about everything and anything BUT Justin Bieber. After being asked by Rolling Stone to talk about that one time in November when Justin was caught on camera serenading Selena with the sweet song ‘My Girl,’ the singer put her foot down and basically said she’s done talking about that specific moment and Justin in general. Selly told the mag QUOTE, ‘Well, I am sorry, first of all. And honestly, what I would love to be printed is that I am so beyond done with talking about that, and him.’ We all heard you loud and clear, Selena!
Moving on from JB, Selena talked about the moment she found her voice. It basically happened the minute she heard ‘Good for You.’ She told the magazine QUOTE, ‘When I heard that song, I freaked out. I felt confident and comfortable in who I am. I felt sexy. I was aching to do stuff like that.’ And just like that, ‘Good for You’ and her entire ‘Revival’ album became Selena’s transition into the adult world.
Not too long after her album release, Selena was invited to perform at the 2015 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and like many other performers before her; she had a blast at the show. Selena said being around all the tall and skinny models made her QUOTE, ‘want to work out and not eat anything. I did feel really short, but it was really fun. And the pressure wasn’t all on me. It was great to be able to dance with these beautiful women.’ I’m sure they had a great time with you on the runway, too!
Well, that concludes Selena’s Rolling Stone interview and I want to hear from you! What are your thoughts on the whole thing? Do you really think that’s the last time she’ll ever talk about Justin Bieber? Let me know in the comment section below! When you’re done with that, click right over here to check out the seven times Selena talked about Justin in 2015 and of course, don’t forget to subscribe to Clevver Newsfeed! Justin Bieber Fires Back After 5SOS Tells Rolling Stone He "Hates" Them

Best Comeback 2015 ►► https://youtu.be/Z2F-C5ZuIfQ

His band may be the hottest group in the world right now, but Michael Clifford made the mistake of name-dropping Justin Bieber’s name in 5SOS’ Rolling Stone article and Justin wasn’t too happy about that.
Is it too late for 5SOS to say they’re sorry? In the band’s scandalous Rolling Stone interview, Michael made the assumption that Justin hated his band and, well, the Biebs just had to set the record straight.
Let it be known that Justin Bieber’s name is not synonymous with negativity. After 5SOS’ Rolling Stone interview dropped, fans and readers alike could not stop talking about Michael’s comment involving Justin. The band talked about all the wild parties they attended after the American Music Awards and the guitarist couldn’t help but talk about the party Justin threw at their favorite LA bar, The Nice Guy. Michael said of the Biebs after going to his party QUOTE,‘I think he hates us. It was f*cking crazy, people standing on tables and sh*t. I probably shouldn’t say this, but he had his own album on loop for like, two or three hours.’
Sound wild! But according to Justin, it wasn’t like that at all. Hours after the interview came out, Justin responded to the comment via Twitter and then quickly deleted it after. But, as everyone knows, anything that’s deleted from the Internet isn’t gone forever. So, does Justin hate 5SOS or nah? The singer directly mentioned Michael in his series of tweets regarding the interview. Justin tweeted QUOTE, ‘@Michael5SOS sorry guy. Don’t hate you. Don’t even know u. And are u sure u came to our party because my album wasn’t on loop? Strange…wish u the best. Don’t use my name for headlines. U are already on the cover. U don’t need it. Just be honest. Big hugs bud…No hate all love. Happy to make it clear. Happy times’
To be honest, I don’t know what’s worse, the fact that Justin asked Michael if he went to the right party or when JB straight up said he doesn’t even know him. Ouch. After that response, Michael responded to the pop star with QUOTE, ‘@justinbieber done nothing but praise ur album; no idea why that’s even in the article. big fan since the start man, take care’ Well, at least all of that was cleared up by both sides!
What do you guys think? Should Justin have even responded to Michael’s quote in the article? Let me know in the comment section below! The Rolling Stones are an English rock band, formed in 1962 in London when multi-instrumentalist Brian Jones and pianist Ian Stewart were joined by vocalist Mick Jagger and guitarist Keith Richards, they named their band after an influential "Rollin' Stone" song by Muddy Waters. Bassist Bill Wyman and drummer Charlie Watts completed the early lineup. Stewart, deemed unsuitable as a teen idol, was removed from the official lineup in 1963 but continued to work with the band as road manager and keyboardist until his death in 1985.
Early in the band's history Jagger and Richards formed a songwriting partnership and gradually took over leadership of the band from the increasingly troubled and erratic Jones. At first the group recorded mainly covers of American blues and R&B; songs, but since the 1966 album Aftermath, their releases have mainly featured Jagger/Richards songs. Mick Taylor replaced an incapacitated Jones shortly before Jones's death in 1969. Taylor quit in 1974, and was replaced in 1975 by Faces guitarist Ronnie Wood, who has remained with the band ever since. Wyman left the Rolling Stones in 1992; bassist Darryl Jones, who is not an official band member, has worked with the group since 1994.
First popular in the UK, The Rolling Stones toured the US repeatedly during the early 1960s "British Invasion". The Rolling Stones have released 22 studio albums in the UK (24 in the US), eight concert albums (nine in the US) and numerous compilations; and have album sales estimated at more than 200 million worldwide. Sticky Fingers (1971) began a string of eight consecutive studio albums that charted at number one in the United States. Their latest album, A Bigger Bang, was released in 2005. In 1989 The Rolling Stones were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2004 they were ranked number 4 in Rolling Stone magazine's 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. In 2008, Billboard magazine ranked The Rolling Stones at number ten on "The Billboard Hot 100 Top All-Time Artists", making them as the second most successful group in the history of Billboard Hot 100 chart.

For the 2005 tour, that space was Toronto's Phoenix club, where several hundred ecstatic fans got to see the group test out new songs from A Bigger Bang, experiment with an alternative arrangement of "19th Nervous Breakdown," and have some fun with covers ranging from Otis Redding's "Mr. Pitiful" to Bob Marley's "Get Up Stand Up."
They also played "She's So Cold" for the first time in 23 years. You can download that track for free, or get the entire set for just $4.99: http://goo.gl/LbUQR

In a candid interview he chats to Andrew Graham-Dixon about his childhood in Dartford, his passion for music and the decade that catapulted the Rolling Stones from back-room blues boys to one of the greatest rock 'n' roll bands in the world.

This concert in Leeds' Roundhay Park was the final show of the band's tour for Tattoo You, which had begun over a year earlier. The crowd is massive, the band is tight, and Mick's pants are, well, they're equally tight. Multicolored, too.
Mick wasn't just making questionable fashion choices -- as he explains in our accompanying video interview, the set list is a bit baffling in retrospect, with band-pleasing covers such as "Going to a Go-Go" and Eddie Cochran's "20 Flight Rock" not necessarily guaranteed to keep the crowd's energy up. But as you can hear, the fans keep cheering throughout, and the band only gets better, ending with a litany of hits from "Honky Tonk Women" to "Satisfaction."
