An energetic and attacking NSW outfit has racked up their highest Origin score since 2009, squaring the Origin series one-all with a 26-18 win in front of the biggest Origin crowd in history at the MCG.
NSW showed a willingness to spread the ball to both sides and both maligned halves, Mitch Pearce and Trent Hodkinson, played their roles to perfection as the side overcame a typical second-half Queensland resurgence to close out the win in front of a massive crowd of 91,513.
The Blues' left edge and centre Michael Jennings in particular was a constant threat but Maroons left centre Greg Inglis exploded back into form, becoming Origin's greatest ever try scorer along the way.
Like in Game One the Blues starting props, Aaron Woods and James Tamou, produced massive opening spells and closed the game strongly while Canterbury firebrand David Klemmer was immense off the bench, charging furiously into the Maroon wall all night.
The first half was one of the slickest and most free-flowing halves of Origin football in recent memory as the Blues showed a willingness to chance their arm and spread the ball wide.
The main beneficiary was left centre Michael Jennings, who was dangerous throughout, racking up an amazing seven tackle busts in the opening 40 and scoring the first try after showing great evasiveness following a poor defensive misread from Will Chambers.
The referees were far more stringent on the 10 metres, as promised, and each side was pinged four times in the opening 40 – most of those 10-metre penalties – and it helped the Maroons into position to square things up just after the 10-minute mark when a great Corey Parker short ball allowed Cowboys prop Matt Scott to continue his try-scoring ways, crashing under the posts.
Trent Merrin was brought into the action 20 minutes from the start, rather than the finish (as he was in Game One) when skipper Paul Gallen was taken off with a rib complaint, although Gallen did return later in the half.
More brilliant work from Jennings running off Brett Morris allowed Brett's twin Josh to latch onto a pinpoint Mitchell Pearce bomb in the 26th, the centre just managing to retain control and halfback Trent Hodkinson nailing his second tricky conversion of the half to stretch the lead to 12-6.
Queensland refused to go away and another dangerous left side shift with the Blues right side being pulled apart – not for the first time in the half – saw a one-handed over-the-top Slater offload put Greg Inglis into space.
He combined with winger Darius Boyd to scatter the Blues line and backed up to claim the outright record for most ever Origin tries with his 16th four-pointer for Queensland just after the half hour mark.
While Thurston was missing his conversion attempt, busy Blues back-rower Ryan Hoffman – the top metre-getter of the first half with 90 metres – was being taken off for a concussion check.
A stripping penalty against Daly Cherry-Evans – also on paper the worst defender of the opening half with three misses – piggy-backed the Blues into position where a 10-metre penalty gave Hodkinson a free shot at making it 14-10 at the half-time break.
In classic Queensland fashion, the Maroons stole the momentum right after half-time when Cameron Smith kicked early in the set from dummy half and a brilliant Thurston chase managed to pin Josh Dugan in-goal for a repeat set.
One repeat set became three as the Blues knocked down a kick then gave a marker penalty and the pressure finally told when bench forward Matt Gillett stepped through some fairly soft defence to claim the lead for the first time in the game.
That lead was extended through a questionable decision to take two points for a 10-metre penalty, making it 18-14, and it looked a poor decision after the Maroons held NSW into their half with a 10-metre penalty and impressive prop Aaron Woods shrugged off one defender and pushed through another to score next to the posts.
With the Blues suddenly full of running a brilliant long range try looked to have stretched their lead but for a dubious forward-pass call on the final pass to would-be try scorer Pearce.
That decision though wasn't as controversial as the one that followed it. When Pearce ran at the line and was stripped one-on-one by Michael Morgan, Inglis scooped up the scraps and raced 90 to score.
Although the play was sent upstairs as a try, the video referees found a hint of a knock-on from Nate Myles as the ball came free and rather than the Maroons reclaiming the lead the Blues were returned possession back at the Queensland line.
They were good enough to score after earning a repeat set off a kick when a Hodkinson pass found Dugan charging back in on the angle to score next to the posts and hand the Blues a vital eight-point lead at 26-18.

A rampaging and unrelenting Maroons side have reclaimed the Holden State of Origin shield with a record-breaking 52-6 victory over New South Wales in front of a sell-out Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday night.
The 46-point margin broke previous highest winning margin in Origin history of 40 points, set by the Blues 15 years ago.
It was also only the second time in Origin history that a team has scored more than 50 points after NSW defeated Queensland 56-16 in the aforementioned match in Game Three, 2000.
The Maroons scored six tries before the Blues could reply through Michael Jennings midway through the second half, but it mattered for little as Queensland cruised towards victory in front of a crowd of over 52,000.
The Blues couldn't handle Queensland's rampant momentum and were unable take control of proceedings with only 30 per cent of possession for the match.
Greg Inglis was heavily involved from the outset, running for 139 metres and scoring a try as he rotated between fullback and winger with Darius Boyd.
Will Chambers ran for 175 metres and also scored a try, while Corey Parker (147 metres and 23 tackles) and Jacob Lillyman (137 metres) led the way for Queensland's forwards.
Parker received the Wally Lewis Medal for player of the series, just prior to the moment when Cameron Smith lifted the Origin shield for the fourth time as Queensland captain.
Down by 20 points at half-time, the night went from bad to worse for the Blues as Matt Gillett scored his second Origin try in as many games after pouncing on the Steeden after it was batted back into play by retiring centre Justin Hodges from over his own dead-ball line.
The 42nd-minute try was reminiscent of the Inglis bat-back during the 2008 Centenary Test with the moment of Maroons brilliance bringing the record Suncorp Stadium crowd to their feet.
Eight minutes later Michael Morgan scored his first Origin try from only his third touch of the game to extend Queensland's lead to 34-2.
The Maroons weren’t finished scoring as Morgan sent Boyd over in the corner for Queensland's sixth try of the night and Johnathan Thurston converted his eighth goal from as many attempts to break Mal Meninga's Queensland record of seven goals in an Origin match.
A runaway try to Jennings in the 61st minute ensured the Blues wouldn't head home without a four-pointer, although it was little consolation as Chambers found the line seven minutes later to take the score out to 46-6.
Further Queensland celebrations ensued when Aidan Guerra crashed over the line two minutes from full-time and Hodges lined up the conversion attempt, guiding his effort between the uprights to finish the game off at 52-6.
There was niggling between both sides from the outset, not surprisingly instigated by Michael Ennis, who lined up for his first Origin since the 2011 decider after replacing the injured Robbie Farah prior to kick-off.
The Blues targeted Origin debutant Dane Gagai from their first attacking kick and it paid dividends with the Maroons winger spilling the ball allowing NSW a chance to open the scoring.
NSW were unable to crack Queensland's line and had to settle for a penalty goal and a 2-0 lead after five minutes.
Queensland squared the ledger four minutes later when Thurston slotted an easy two points after receiving back-to-back penalties.
A Will Hopoate error allowed the Maroons a prime opportunity to press for the opening try and they duly obliged when Gagai crossed unmarked out wide.
Thurston's sublime sideline conversion took the Queenslanders out to an 8-2 lead in the 15th minute.
The Blues rallied and dominated the next 10-minute period but couldn't convert their possession into points and soon found themselves defending their own line again when prop Aaron Woods conceded a marker penalty.
Queensland capitalised moments later when Thurston sent Josh Papalii over the line for his maiden Origin try and a 14-2 lead 13 minutes out from half-time.
The Maroons extended their lead to 14 points when Beau Scott took out Smith with a late tackle and the host's advantage soon became 20 points when Inglis crossed for his 17th Origin try.
An ugly lifting tackle by Trent Merrin on Corey Parker allowed Queensland to go on the attack once again and the destructive Maroons fullback steamrolled his way over the paint much to the delight of the Suncorp Stadium crowd.
The Maroons had one final opportunity to crack the Blues' line again inside the final minute of the first half but NSW held on to keep scoreboard reading 22-2 at half-time.

A total of 131 new probationary constables will be sworn into the NSW Police Force this morning.
The students of “Class 325” of the Associate Degree in Policing Practice will attest at the NSW Police Academy at Goulburn today (Friday 21 August 2015).
The Commissioner will be joined by the Governor of NSW, His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret'd), to inspect the new recruits on the parade ground.
The students will attest with the rank of probationary constable and report to their new stations for work on Monday (24 August 2015).
They will then complete 12 months on-the-job training and study by distance education with Charles Sturt University before they officially graduate with an Associate Degree in Policing Practice. The officers will then be confirmed to the rank of constable.
Commissioner Scipione said the new recruits are about to embark upon a highly diverse and rewarding career path.
“Policing is a highly unique career path that will offer these new probationary constables various exciting opportunities each day they work with and for the community,” Commissioner Scipione said.
“Their experiences will be both challenging and gratifying, but their presence here today shows they have the resilience and determination to succeed and represent the NSW Police Force proudly.
“From today onward they’ll be tasked with the safety and security of the people of NSW and I’m confident that they will uphold the Force’s statement of values in performing those duties.
“I wish each and every student all the best in their policing futures and I hope they find the experience of serving the community as rewarding as I do,” Commissioner Scipione said.

NSW Police Force has started rolling out body-worn video cameras to frontline police, as part of an ongoing commitment to improving officer and community safety in NSW.
NSW Deputy Premier and Minister for Police, Troy Grant, and NSW Police Force Commissioner Andrew Scipione officially launched ‘Body Worn Video’ (BWV) today (Thursday 17 September 2015), at the first site for the rollout, Eastern Beaches Local Area Command.
From today, local police will wear the cameras on their uniform, allowing officers to record incidents or events where visual and audio evidence will support an investigation.
The new BWV cameras do not record all the time, instead, are activated for use in operational policing activities, or where recording is deemed in public interest.
Commissioner Scipione said BWV will provide a fully accountable record of interactions between police and the community.
“Our officers have millions of interactions with the community every year, and BWV will provide a record of the actions of both the officer and individuals they are engaged with,” the Commissioner said.
“The vision will essentially be used for evidence gathering to support prosecutions, but it will also allow police to analyse interactions, improve practices and support officer training and education.
“Local and international trials have noted other positive benefits of BWV, including lower incidence and escalation of violence, reduced officer injuries, reduced time spent on paperwork and increased time on patrol; enhanced brief of evidence preparation, and improved behaviour of both police and the public.
“BWV will hold everyone to account for their actions, including police. A picture is worth a thousand words, and if you’re recorded doing the wrong thing – no matter who you are – the evidence will be tough to dispute,” the Commissioner said.
There are five guiding principles, which form the basis for appropriate and lawful use of BWV, and include:
1. BWV camera equipment will be used by NSW Police in the lawful execution of their duties. Police will use their discretion when deciding to use it and its use will be obvious and overt.
2. Generally, BWV will be used by police to record events, incidents and evidence. However, there will be some instances where BWV should not be used and some occasions when its use may not be appropriate.
3. BWV supports conventional forms of evidence gathering, it does not replace them.
4. BWV recordings will be securely processed and managed in accordance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
5. The NSW Police Force will provide general information to the community on the use of BWV by police.
Further information about BWV, including standard operating procedures are available to the community at the NSW Police Force website: www.police.nsw.gov.au.

The two large pouches are covered with PALS on the face and sides and include a loop on the bottom for full sized smoke grenades. The boxes have plastic sewn into the face panel so that they retain their shape no matter what abuse you throw at them.
The rig includes slots behind the large side pouches for holding radios, pistols, or medical insert trays.
The NSW Chest Rig includes our Slim Padded H-Harness for extra comfort and the ability to add a Hydration Carrier.

Purpose built as Australia’s capital city, Canberra is a 3-hour drive from both the snowy mountains and the beautiful beaches of New South Wales. It is a city which honors Australia’s past and shapes its future.
With an expansive bush beauty, a relaxed attitude and colorful events, Canberra is far more than a political capital. Designed for a young nation that was just finding its feet, this city is home to many of the country's most important stories; stories that have come to define what it means to be Australian.
At the heart of Canberra’s creation story is Lake Burley Griffin. A long-standing rivalry between Sydney and Melbourne meant that neither one could be the nation’s capital. Instead, in 1911, the government launched an international design competition seeking a master plan for a brand new city.
The victor, Chicago architect Walter Burley Griffin, won with a garden city design focused on a man-made lake which fits perfectly within the landscape.
When, the nation’s Governor General stood in a dusty paddock in 1913 and announced the name of the new capital, he told the nation that the city had, lying before it, a splendid destiny.
Over 100 years later, that destiny has been fulfilled in a city that preserves the great chapters of Australia’s history and continues to write the future pages of the nation’s story.

Transport in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
Public transport:
Sydney's public transport system is well developed, efficient and cheap. The Transport Infoline provides route, timetable and fare information for all buses, ferries and trains.
State Transit operates Sydney's buses. Sydney Ferries runs the commuter ferry network that criss-crosses Sydney Harbour. CityRail operates the network of trains between the suburbs and the city.
Numerous money-saving passes are available, including the SydneyPass , which allows unlimited travel on public buses, harbour ferries, the Sydney Explorer bus and the Bondi Explorer bus.
The colour-coded TravelPass, valid for one week or more, allows unlimited travel on public transport within a designated area. A DayTripper pass is valid for travel on all regular buses, ferries and metropolitan area trains. A TravelTen bus pass is valid for 10 bus journeys. A FerryTen ticket is valid for 10 ferry trips.
Taxis:
Taxis run on meters, with a 20% surcharge added between 2200-0600. Tipping is not expected, although fares are generally rounded up to the nearest dollar. Operators include Taxis Combined Services and Premier Cabs
Driving:
Sydney drivers are renowned for their speed and intolerance and parking is invariably difficult and/or expensive. Also, many of Sydney's motorways are tolled and most of them are fully electronic; you will have to arrange a pass before or shortly after your trip - see www.rta.nsw.gov.au for details.
Car hire:
The minimum age for hiring a car is often 25 years. Minimum third-party insurance is required.
Bicycle hire:
Sydney's many steep hills make cycling a challenge. Manly has better paths for cycling but best of all is the popular Centennial Park.
