Alternatively, if you're by a TV and want to tune in, all the major networks (CBS, ABC, NBC, Fox) and the cable news networks (CNN, MSNBC, Fox News) will be airing the speech, so it shouldn't be too difficult to find.
As the president begins his final year in office, he naturally wants to make the case that his two terms have been successful, while also arguing for policies he supports that haven't yet been acted (like tougher gun control measures).
But Obama and his aides have said that this won't be an ordinary State of the Union (which is often a lengthy laundry list of policy proposals that are promptly ignored by Congress). This time around, they've said, the speech will be more "thematic." It's not yet clear, though, just how different the speech will actually be — we'll see.
The State of the Union address has a great deal of history to it. The Constitution says that the president shall "from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union," and George Washington started the tradition of delivering an annual presidential speech to Congress.

Watch the full video of President Barack Obama’s final interview on Late Show with David Letterman, from Monday, May 4, 2015. The appearance on the late night talk show marked his third and last as sitting President, commemorating the end of Letterman’s long-running program and covering a range of topics. The full replay and more details are below after the jump...
President Obama was in New York City earlier in the day; at Lehman College in the Bronx to launch the My Brother’s Keeper Alliance, and later for some fundraising events after the recording of the interview at the Ed Sullivan Theater studio.
Earlier that same evening (May 4, 2015), CBS broadcast a prime-time special in tribute to David Letterman whose final episode of ‘Late Show’ will be May 20th. As both are facing retirement, this prompted Letterman to ask, “What will you do when you’re not President?”
To which President Obama said, “Well, I was thinking, you and me, we can play some dominoes together. We can, you know, go to the local Starbucks and, you know, swap stories.”
Letterman said, “I’m pretty good. I know you think I’m no good at dominoes, but I’m pretty good at dominoes. And I plan to teach law at Columbia.”
The President replied, “You know, I’d be interested in sitting in on that class. I mean, that’d be a hoot.”
President Obama also spoke on substantive topics including the Baltimore riots and race relations, saying, “It is important that now that charges have been brought in Baltimore, that we let the process play itself out.”

Obama on Gun Control. President Obama speaks at a town hall meeting with CNN's Anderson Cooper on reducing gun violence at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va. on Thursday. Barack Obama takes shot at NRA for skipping CNN town hall meeting
A tough-talking President Obama — in the thick of a raging national fight over firearms — took aim at the National Rifle Association Thursday night, calling out the group for not having the guts to show up to a prime-time town hall meeting on gun control.
“Our position is consistently mischaracterized,” Obama said during the televised event. “There’s a reason that the NRA isn’t here. They’re right down the street. You think they’d be prepared to have a debate with the President.”
The meeting was held at George Mason University in suburban Washington, near the NRA’s headquarters.
CNN, which broadcast the event, said it invited the gun group, but the NRA declined.
“I’m happy to meet with them. I’m happy to talk with them,” Obama said.
Before the meeting began, NRA spokesman Andrew Arulanandam told CNN the group saw “no reason to participate in a public relations spectacle orchestrated by the White House.”
But CNN reported that it was the cable network, not the White House, that proposed the town hall gathering at the university’s Fairfax, Va., campus.
The network said the audience was evenly divided between people who support the Second Amendment and those who believe in tighter gun regulations — and that Obama would take tough questions from both sides.
Instead, the NRA spent much of the day hiding behind a computer — promoting a petition protesting the President’s plan via its Twitter feed.
Building on his tear-filled appeal to enact common-sense gun control, Obama used the event to push a series of executive orders aimed at expanding background checks, improving gun safety and providing more funds for mental health treatment.
“What I’ve said consistently throughout my presidency is I respect the Second Amendment and the right to bear arms,” Obama told the audience.
The meeting — dubbed “Guns in America” — took place following a spate of mass shootings, including the recent San Bernardino, Calif., attack where 14 people were massacred.
During the meeting, Obama denied accusations — often voiced by paranoid NRA members, gun nuts and Republican lawmakers — that he wanted to take away people’s guns.
“I have been now President for over seven years and gun sales don’t seem to have suffered during that time. I have been very good for gun manufacturers,” Obama quipped.
“Part of the reason, I think, that this ends up being such a difficult issue is because people occupy different realities,” Obama added, noting the difference in perceptions on gun ownership between those who live in the inner city compared to people in rural settings.
The reality is that under Obama’s regulations, the government will neither confiscate guns nor make it harder for law-abiding citizens to obtain them.
Obama, who said he never owned a gun in his life, added that 30,000 people are killed each year by guns.
“All of us can agree that it makes sense to do everything we can to keep guns out of the hands of people who would do others harm, or themselves harm,” he said.
Even as the President spoke, George Mason was tense over the possibility of armed protesters.
Thomas Longo, the interim chief of police at the university, pointed out that it is lawful to carry firearms in public outdoor spaces on the Virginia campus.
“Due to the sensitive nature of the topic, we will likely see protesters on campus — some of whom may be carrying weapons,” Longo had warned students in an email earlier in the day.
“University police is aware of this and will have officers present to ensure that all protesters remain law-abiding and maintain the safety and well-being of Mason’s faculty, students and staff,” he continued.
“As a gun owner, there are those of us who believe in protecting the right to bear arms who are also saying we need to do something about the over-proliferation of handguns and the stockpiling of ammunition,” said Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, an invited town hall participant.
Adams, a former NYPD captain, said he owns three guns, but understands the fine line between safety and senselessness.
“It’s extremely important. Brooklyn is the largest borough in the most important city in the most important country, and we are also one of the places where gun violence is very real,” Adams said.
“And to be in the room as a Brooklynite next to a person who’s from Arkansas or from Texas or from Chicago, it says that all of us, no matter what city we live in, this is something we all must be concerned about.”

Syfy Channel's Ben Hansen from "Fact or Faked" analyzes President Barack Obama's interview on Jimmy Kimmel on March 12, 2015. Kimmel asked Obama the same question he asked Bill Clinton in 2014 about his efforts to look into the UFO files. Is Obama's joking about the subject indicative of what he may or may not know? Does he exhibit any signs of stress or deceit? At one point Obama refuses to divulge any information. Hansen uses non-verbal communication and content statement analysis techniques to give a systematic breakdown of the entire interview segment on the UFO/alien subject. Never before has a U.S. President given information ... or denied UFO information... in the same way.

President Obama on Wednesday said movies will be better if they represent everyone's stories, for the first time weighing in on the lack of black nominees at the Oscars.
"I think that California is an example of the incredible diversity of this country," Obama said during a series of interviews with local news stations. "That's a strength. I think that when everyone's story is told then that makes for better art.
"It makes for better entertainment it makes everybody feel part of one American family, so I think as a whole the industry should do what every other industry should do which is to look for talent, provide opportunity to everybody. And I think the Oscar debate is really just an expression of this broader issue. Are we making sure that everybody is getting a fair shot?"
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has drawn heavy criticism due to the all-white cast of nominees for the acting categories in this year's Oscars. All 20 acting nominees are white men and women.
Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs has vowed to address the issue, saying in a statement that the organization will be “taking dramatic steps to alter the makeup of our membership.”
Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton also weighed in on the controvery on Wednesday, calling the reforms "long overdue."
“Just think of the great films that really display not just the diversity of America, but the diversity of the human experience,” Clinton said, “and therefore the Academy has to catch up with our reality.”

President Obama's Final State of the Union Address FULL SPEECH HQ - 1/12/2016
President Barack Obama will deliver his final State of the Union address Tuesday at 9 pm Eastern. You can find a live stream at the White House's website here.

President Obama delivers an address from the White House on the Iran deal implementation and the recent prisoner swap.
Iran nuclear deal: US imposes new sanctions over missiles
The US has imposed fresh sanctions on Iranian companies and individuals over a recent ballistic missile test.
The new sanctions prevent 11 entities and individuals linked to the missile programme from using the US banking system.
The move came the day after international nuclear sanctions on Iran were lifted as part of a deal designed to prevent it developing nuclear arms.
Four American-Iranians were also freed in a prisoner swap as part of the deal.
Among them was Washington Post reporter Jason Rezaian. A fifth American freed separately.
The US said it had offered clemency to seven Iranians being held in the US for sanctions violations.
Negotiations over the prisoner exchange in December delayed the US Treasury's imposition of the latest sanctions, reports said.
'Significant threat'
They were triggered by Iran conducting a precision-guided ballistic missile test capable of delivering a nuclear warhead last October, violating a United Nations ban.
"Iran's ballistic missile program poses a significant threat to regional and global security, and it will continue to be subject to international sanctions," said Adam J Szubin, US acting under-secretary for terrorism and financial intelligence.
Earlier, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani hailed the lifting of sanctions imposed since 2006 over its nuclear programme as a "new chapter" in its relations with the world.

Weekly Address: Improving Economic Security by Strengthening and Modernizing the Unemployment Insurance System
WASHINGTON, DC — In this week's address, the President spoke about the steps we need to take to modernize our unemployment insurance system. Our country has come a long way in the past seven years, with more than 14 million jobs created, and the unemployment rate cut in half. But, as our economy continues to change, there are still steps we need to take to ensure all Americans have the security and opportunity they deserve. In his address, the President laid out his plan to help more hardworking Americans get unemployment insurance, find a new job, and have some assurance that even if a new job pays less than their old one they will have some help paying the bills. These ideas are part of the President’s broader belief that everybody who works hard deserves their fair shot and the chance to get ahead.
The audio of the address and video of the address will be available online at www.whitehouse.gov at 6:00 a.m. ET, January 16, 2016.

Weekly Address
The White House
January 16, 2016
Hi, everybody. On Tuesday, I gave my final State of the Union Address. And a focus was this: how do we make the new economy work better for everyone, not just those at the top?
After the worst economic crisis of our lifetimes, we’re in the midst of the longest streak of private-sector job growth in our history. More than 14 million new jobs. An unemployment rate cut in half. At the same time, our economy continues to go through profound changes that began long before the Great Recession hit. It’s changed to the point where even when folks have jobs; even when the economy is growing; it’s harder for hardworking families to pull themselves out of poverty, harder for young people to start out on their careers, and tougher for workers to retire when they want to.
That’s a big part of the reason a lot of working families are feeling anxious. And it offends our fundamentally American belief that everybody who works hard should be able to get ahead.
That’s why we’ve been fighting so hard to give families more opportunity and more security – by working to create more good jobs, invest in our middle class, and help working people get a raise. It’s what the Affordable Care Act is all about – filling in the gaps in employer-based care so that when somebody loses a job, or goes back to school, or starts that new business, they still have health care. And it’s why I believe we’ve got to take steps to modernize our unemployment insurance system.
If a hardworking American loses her job, regardless of what state she lives in, we should make sure she can get unemployment insurance and some help to retrain for her next job. If she’s been unemployed for a while, we should reach out to her and connect her with career counseling. And if she finds a new job that doesn’t pay as much as her old one, we should offer some wage insurance that helps her pay her bills. Under my plan, experienced workers who now make less than $50,000 could replace half of their lost wages – up to $10,000 over two years. It’s a way to give families some stability and encourage folks to rejoin the workforce – because we shouldn’t just be talking about unemployment; we should be talking about re-employment.
That’s when America works best – when everyone has opportunity; when everyone has some security; and when everyone can contribute to this country we love. That’s how we make sure that hardworking families can get ahead. And that’s what I’ll be fighting for with every last day of my presidency.
Thanks everybody. Have a great weekend.

After Tuesday's State of the Union address, President Barack Obama spent a few minutes talking with Dr. Refaai Hamo, a Syrian scientist who fled his country after a slew of deadly bombings killed members of his family, including his daughter and wife.
The brief but friendly encounter underscored sentiments Obama has expressed in the State of the Union, recent speeches and interviews, particularly his push for tolerance and the need to welcome refugees through a carefully vetted process. The president has previously called Hamo an "inspiration" and said that he exemplifies "what makes America great.
During the speech, Hamo was seated next to Michelle Obama in the balcony box, along with 23 other guests that included activists and volunteers. According to the White House, there was also an empty chair in the box that represented the victims of gun violence,

President Obama During his final State of the Union address, he once again called for the closure of the controversial detention facility.president obama at the state of the union sotu But the prison is still open. President Obama took a moment during tonight’s State of the Union to very clearly––yet indirectly––go after Donald Trump. As the president talked about terrorism and not aiding our enemies with dangerous rhetoric and policy, he said, “That’s why we need to reject any politics that targets people because of race or religion.” (Paul Ryan applauded that part.) He continued, “This isn’t a matter of political correctness. It’s a matter of understanding what makes us strong.” Obama talked up America’s tradition of diversity and agreed with Pope Francis that “to imitate the hatred and violence of tyrants and murderers is the best way to take their place.” And with just 12 months go to until he leaves office, it’s not clear whether Obama will be able to get rid of a facility he believes serves as an important recruiting tool to anti-American terror organizations around the world.
Closure is complicated. He can’t send all of the roughly 90 remaining prisoners back to their home countries because he doesn’t trust the security arrangements abroad. And federal law clearly bars him from bringing the terror suspects to the U.S., leaving his team of lawyers to contemplate whether his powers as commander-in-chief allow him to order the transfers anyway.
6:45 P.M. The United States of America is the most powerful nation on Earth. Period. Obama asks, again, for authorization to fight Islamic State If President Obama’s call for Congress to pass an authorization for the use of force against Islamic State sounds familiar, it’s because he did so in this speech last year as well. “This effort will take time. It will require focus. But we will succeed,” he said. “Tonight, I call on this Congress to show the world that we are united in this mission by passing a resolution to authorize the use of force against ISIL. We need that authority.” Just weeks later the president sent Congress draft language of such an authorization, but found critics on both sides of the aisle. Many Democrats bristled at the ambiguity of language they said did not explicitly prohibit the use of ground troops against Islamic State. Republicans opposed separate language that they saw as overly constraining this or a future president’s hands in being able to go after terrorist forces wherever they were. Though some lawmakers have been outspoken about the need for an updated authorization to use force against Islamic State – the nation is still operating on one passed in the immediate aftermath of Sept. 11 – there was no significant effort to consider Obama’s or any other draft in 2015.
Under different circumstances, Vice President Joe Biden might have benefited from the visibility of tonight’s speech as a candidate looking to succeed President Obama. Instead, Obama called attention to a new crusade that Biden has dedicated himself to: a “moonshot” effort to find a cure for cancer. “He’s gone to the mat for all of us, on so many issues over the past 40 years,” Obama said. “I’m putting Joe in charge of mission control.”
“We're so close to so many breakthroughs in cancer,” he said. “This is one of those inflection points, but they are sort of stove pipes. There's a lot of brilliant people doing a lot of important stuff but not enough integration.” “I'm hoping … [to] be the convener of these folks and move things along more quickly, so instead of the breakthroughs occurring in 10 years or five years, I think we can change the face of cancer [within] the next five years.”
6:49 P.M.Christina Bellantoni More about that 'moonshot' 6:36 P.M. Look, if anybody still wants to dispute the science around climate change, have at it. You’ll be pretty lonely.
President Obama, urging support for energy alternatives

President Obama's Final State of the Union Address FULL SPEECH HQ - 1/12/2016
President Barack Obama will deliver his final State of the Union address Tuesday at 9 pm Eastern. You can find a live stream at the White House's website here.

JANUARY 5, 2016 - FULL COMPLETE ADDRESS ON EXECUTIVE GUN CONTROL ACTIONS BY PRESIDENT OBAMA ----- Over the weekend, President Obama promised to ring in the New Year by rolling out a slate of executive actions aimed at reducing gun violence, and on Monday, met with attorney General Loretta Lynch to finalize those plans. On Tuesday, the President took to the East Room to announce the measures he has decided to take. Following a moving introduction by Mark Barden, whose son was killed in the Sandy Hook massacre, President Obama, flanked at the podium by Vice President Joe Biden, began by noting the mass shooting tragedies that have preceded his action today. He spoke movingly about the effects of gun violence, mentioned Thursday’s upcoming town hall meeting on reducing gun violence, and tried to reassure Americans that he respects the Second Amendment.
Then, the President began to outline his plan, first explaining the holes in our background check system and recalling the failure of the Manchin/Toomey legislation.
“Number one, anybody in the business of selling firearms must get a license and conduct background checks or be subject to criminal prosecutions,” the President said, adding “It doesn’t matter whether you are doing it over to the the internet or at a gun show. It is not where you do it, but what you do.”
The President also promised to expand background checks to cover sales made through trusts and corporations, modernize the system, add 200 ATF agents, require more reporting of lost or stolen firearms, and to push for innovations in safety technology.
Then, toward the end of his remarks, President Obama broke down and cried when, as he rallied through the Americans who have been denied their right to live by gun tragedies, he got to those first-graders who were killed right before Christmas three years ago. The measures President Obama has proposed will likely be greeted in two ways, depending on your point of view. Substantively, there’s little in these executive actions that isn’t already codified by law, so gun control advocates will see this as meaningless tinkering on the margins, and perhaps as a cynical exercise in legacy-building. The gun rights crowd will likely see these actions as the worst tyranny since Obamacare/Hitler. It is those voters in between those extremes, the ones who don’t vote on this issue, to whom the President was speaking today.
As a longtime observer of this President’s poker strategy, I see this as as an intentionally weak bet that Obama hopes will result in a huge raise from his opponent. The strength in President Obama’s hand is overwhelming public opinion, cards that so far have not resulted in a win. There are only a few ways he can improve that hand, and this play gives him more chances than any other. If the public sees gun advocates freak out over these weak actions, that could turn public opinion even more in his favor, and maybe even give Democrats another issue to use against Republicans in 2016. Public opinion, however, has not proven strong enough to make this a voting issue among average Americans. Maybe President Obama’s moving speech will have some effect on energizing that public support.
The real prizes here are the legal challenges that will inevitably arise. If Obama can’t get Congress to change laws, court challenges afford the opportunity for the judiciary to change them. It’s an inside draw, but with only a year left in his term, it’s the best shot President Obama has.
