Kjwan is a Filipino band formed in 2003 by former Sandwich guitarist and vocalist Marc Abaya.
Long-time friends and former high school band-mates Marc Abaya (vocals) and Kelley Mangahas (bass) got together with fellow Ateneans Jorel Corpus (guitar) and J-hoon Balbuena (drums) to form the band’s initial lineup. In 2004 Boogie Romero (guitar), another high school friend and former band-mate of Marc and Kelley, joined the lineup. They released their self-titled debut album in 2004 with their carrier hit single “Daliri” which gained constant airplay on radio stations and television.
Kjwan released their second album, 2StepMarv three years later.
The band won Favorite Indie Artist in the local music channel MYX’s music awards night. Their video “Pintura” nabbed “Favorite Guest Appearance” with the help of a seasoned actress, Chin-Chin Gutierrez. They were also featured for a month on MTV Pilipinas in December 2006. They enjoyed a month-long feature as Yahoo Southeast Asia’s band of the month and another month-long feature as “Celebrity VJs” in MYX for the whole month of April 2006. They also got nominated in 6 categories in the 2007 NU Rock Awards for Artist of the Year, Best Live Act, Album of the Year, Producer of the Year (with Angee Rozul), Vocalist of the Year (Marc Abaya) and Guitarist of the Year (Boogie Romero).
A music video or song video is a short film integrating a song and imagery, produced for promotional or artistic purposes. Modern music videos are primarily made and used as a marketing device intended to promote the sale of music recordings. There are also cases where songs are used in tie in marketing campaigns that allow them to become more than just a song. Tie ins and merchandising could be used in toys are marketing campaigns for food and other products. Although the origins of music videos date back to musical short films that first appeared in the 1920s, they came into prominence in the 1980s when MTV based their format around the medium. Prior to the 1980s, these works were described by various terms including "illustrated song", "filmed insert", "promotional (promo) film", "promotional clip", "promotional video", "song video", "song clip" or "film clip". Since the creation and increased popularity of YouTube, mainstream artists now promote new music videos by releasing trailers of short promos on the site for their upcoming song and music video. Consequentially, YouTube has been converted into a social media platform for celebrities and artists to market themselves to their fans and audiences.
Ramon Marcelino "Marc" Diaz Abaya (born November 6, 1979) is a Filipino musician, TV host, VJ, and occasional actor. Abaya appeared in the 2009 Philippine release of Tinker Bell.
He is the son of actor/director Manolo Abaya and director Marilou Diaz-Abaya.
Abaya was discovered by Raimund Marasigan of The Eraserheads during a "battle of bands" in which Abaya's band Shirley Beans won first place. While Abaya was a member of the band, they released three albums: Grip, Stand, Throw; 4-track mind; and Thanks to the Moon's Gravitational Pull.
While in Sandwich, Abaya formed the band Kjwan with his closest friends in May 2003. In 2004, Kjwan released their self-titled album, which included the carrier single "Daliri."
Abaya joined MTV Philippines in 2003 and became one of the VJs until the dissolution of the channel under Music Source, Inc. on January 1, 2007. Abaya hosted a variety of shows, including Rockola on MTV and Massive. In September 2009, AYC hired him to man MTV Philippines' music station U92 for a weekly show.

Kjwan vocalist Marc Abaya discusses his departure from former band Sandwich. It tells an interesting story and to many of the bands fans, was a wise decision from this brilliant artist. Since then, Marc has gone on to reach great successes with Kjwan while Sandwich too has conquered and continued to write, record, and tour, with Raimund Marasigan as their new frontman. LAST NIGHT
I SAW YOU LYING THERE
LEGS SPREAD
SLICING THROUGH THE AIR
NOW I SEE YOU
NO MORE MASKS
DIFFERENT FACES
SPINNING FAST
THE VIRTUOUS
SO COLD
THE VIRTUOUS ARE FALLING DOWN (ON) ME
THIS NIGHT
I SEE YOU STANDING THERE
PRETENDING
LIKE I’M NOT THERE
NEVER MEANT TO BE THIS WAY
NEVER WANT TO BE ASHAMED
