WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) is a family of wireless communications standards initially designed to provide 30 to 40 megabit-per-second data rates, with the 2011 update providing up to 1 Gbit/s for fixed stations. The name "WiMAX" was created by the WiMAX Forum, which was formed in June 2001 to promote conformity and interoperability of the standard. The forum describes WiMAX as "a standards-based technology enabling the delivery of last mile wireless broadband access as an alternative to cable and DSL".IEEE 802.16m or WirelessMAN-Advanced is a candidate for the 4G, in competition with the LTE Advanced standard.
WiMAX refers to interoperable implementations of the IEEE 802.16 family of wireless-networks standards ratified by the WiMAX Forum. (Similarly, Wi-Fi refers to interoperable implementations of the IEEE 802.11 Wireless LAN standards certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance.) WiMAX Forum certification allows vendors to sell fixed or mobile products as WiMAX certified, thus ensuring a level of interoperability with other certified products, as long as they fit the same profile.
IEEE 802 refers to a family of IEEE standards dealing with local area networks and metropolitan area networks.
More specifically, the IEEE 802 standards are restricted to networks carrying variable-size packets. By contrast, in cell relay networks data is transmitted in short, uniformly sized units called cells. Isochronous networks, where data is transmitted as a steady stream of octets, or groups of octets, at regular time intervals, are also out of the scope of this standard. The number 802 was simply the next free number IEEE could assign, though “802” is sometimes associated with the date the first meeting was held — February 1980.
The services and protocols specified in IEEE 802 map to the lower two layers (Data Link and Physical) of the seven-layer OSI networking reference model. In fact, IEEE 802 splits the OSI Data Link Layer into two sub-layers named Logical Link Control (LLC) and Media Access Control (MAC), so that the layers can be listed like this:
Blue Sky Broadband is the first broadband company to deploy the WIMAX network in Southern Minnesota. BlueSky Broadband will bring this new 4-G technology to the consumer beginning with the Mankato Market. With the Wide Area Network Technology, consumers can have total mobility in the range of our network area, This makes WI-FI HOT SPOTS a thing of the past. Customers of Blue SKy Broadband will be able to connect to the internet in more places at faster speeds at less cost than DSL or cable, transforming the way our customers use the internet. Imagine downloading a movie or video at super fast speeds, and uploading to Facebook or your website in a blink while in your auto, a park, anywhere in our coverage area.

1. The range in WiFi is around several hundred feet. 2. the range for WiMAX is up to 40 miles. 3. Wi-Fi is based on IEEE 802.11 standard whereas WiMAX is based on IEEE 802.16. However, both are IEEE standards. 4. Wi-Fi typically provides local network access with the speed of up to 54 Mbps. 5. WiMAX antenna is with the speed of 70 Mbps or more. 6. Wi-Fi was officially launched in the year 1997 where as WiMAX came to the picture in the year 2004. 7. Wi-Fi networks have a channel bandwidth of 20MHz, whereas WiMAX networks have a flexible bandwidth option which ranges from 1.25MHz to 20MHz. 8. Wi-Fi is intended for LAN applications, users scale from one to tens with one subscriber for each CPE device. WiMAX is designed to efficiently support from one to hundreds of Consumer premises equipment...

Online information film to introduce Clear's WIMAX service in the US. Clear is a US-based service providing the next generation of mobile internet services. Their WiMax technology allows mobile users to get broadband speeds on the go. For their launch campaign, Clear wanted to target the early adopter market with an information film highlighting the benefits of the service. Scripted, designed and animated by Airside.

We owe it to the willing souls
To the white lie
The double bluff and fever
An I for an I
We owe it to the TV
To the motherland smile
Apocalypse and rapture signing in
An Eye for an Eye
If youre not with us you're against
An Eye for an Eye
We owe it to disaster
To the black fire
The anger and enclosure of desire
An Eye for an Eye
We owe it to the sex toys
To the icons of our time
Humility an touch is in decline
An Eye for an Eye
If you're not with us you're against.
An Eye for an Eye.
If you're not with us you're against.
Eye for an Eye.
