Indiana State coach Greg Lansing decided on a whim to pay tribute to the movie "Hoosiers" when his team hosted Evansville for another edition of the in-state rivalry by running the "picket fence" play to start the game on Sunday.

Lansing went over the play during a morning walk-through and then called for it to be used on the Sycamores' first possession as a tip of the proverbial cap to both the rivalry and in keeping with the theme ESPN used in promoting the game ahead of time.

Brenton Scott came around the end of the fence and his defender decided not to follow him but instead chose to try to beat him to the other side of a group of players in his way, the picket fence. Scott caught a pass from Khristian Smith and buried a 3-pointer to start the game.

The play was made famous by the 1986 movie "Hoosiers" about the 1954 Milan High School team that won the Indiana state championship.

Scott was the obvious choice to take the shot. He leads the Missouri Valley in scoring over the past five games and is shooting 60 percent from behind the 3-point line in that stretch. He scored 24 points in the Sycamores' 82-65 win.
