Nataly’s Corner brings you the sounds of jazz/R&B; soul singer/songwriter Will Downing with music from his newly released album “Black Pearls”. On this track, Will pays tribute to a classic R&B; tune that was originally released and recorded by Singers Rene Moore and Angela Winbush. The Black Pearls album is filled with everything from romantic ballads to soft contemporary jazz and neo-soul sounds that fans are accustomed to hearing from this soulful romantic singer. Will Downing has released several successful albums during his career…but, as a Fan of his music, I think the Black Pearls album has the music content to top them all.
Will Downing started towards a music career by working on albums with some very talented and established artists such as Jennifer Holiday; Kool & the Gang; Gerald Albright; Billy Ocean; Regina Belle and Mica Paris. His first solo album titled “Will Downing” was released in 1988. Will’s version of the John Coltrane “A Love Supreme”, which was listed on the album, reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart. Over the years, Will soared through the contemporary Jazz/R&B; world producing and releasing over 20 music compilations. His album, “All the Man You Need” earned Will a Grammy Award nomination for Best Traditional R&B; Album in 2000. In 2002, Will received the International Association of African-American Music Diamond Award. Not only is Will Downing a dynamic singer/performer but he also spends time giving back to the Community. He is Spokesperson for the American Stroke Association. On tour, he conducts the charity bowling event, Strike against Stroke, to raise funds towards awareness and education in the African American community.

Black Pearls
Black Pearls is an album credited to jazz musician John Coltrane, released in 1964 on Prestige Records, catalogue 7316. It is assembled from the results of a single recording session at the studio of Rudy Van Gelder in Hackensack, New Jersey. As Coltrane's fame grew during the 1960s long after he had stopped recording for the label, Prestige used unissued recordings to create new marketable albums without Coltrane's input or approval.
On that Friday session, "the songs weren't long enough for a whole album", recalled producer Bob Weinstock in 2001, "so I said Let's do a slow blues to finish it out." Coltrane invited Weinstock to write the song on the spot, but he didn't know music, so Coltrane replied "Just tell me what you want me to play. Should it go like this?" and he would play some notes. After having played a rough melody, he'd say "Okay, you wrote it." That was the genesis of "Sweet Sapphire Blues".

Downing Street
Downing Street in London, England, has for more than three hundred years housed the official residences of two of the most senior British Cabinet ministers: the First Lord of the Treasury, an office now synonymous with that of Prime Minister of the United Kingdom; and the Second Lord of the Treasury, an office held by the Chancellor of the Exchequer. The Prime Minister's official residence is 10 Downing Street; the Chancellor's official residence is next door at Number 11. The Government's Chief Whip has an official residence at Number 12, though the current Chief Whip's residence is at Number 9.
Downing Street is located in Whitehall in central London, a few minutes' walk from the Houses of Parliament and a little farther from Buckingham Palace. The street was built in the 1680s by Sir George Downing (1632–1689), on the site of a mansion called Hampden House. The houses on the south side of the street were demolished in the nineteenth century to make way for government offices, now occupied by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. "Downing Street" is often used as a metonym for the Government of the United Kingdom.

Will Downing started towards a music career by working on albums with some very talented and established artists such as Jennifer Holiday; Kool & the Gang; Gerald Albright; Billy Ocean; Regina Belle and Mica Paris. His first solo album titled “Will Downing” was released in 1988. Will’s version of the John Coltrane “A Love Supreme”, which was listed on the album, reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart. Over the years, Will soared through the contemporary Jazz/R&B; world producing and releasing over 20 music compilations.
