Alex Bugnon turns his head to Jazz. His long-awaited, funky new release, this time in a traditional Jazz Sextet format of piano, bass, drums and three horns, featuring Poogie Bell, Victor Bailey, Vincent Henry, Greg Boyer and Barry Danielian is entitled Going Home (2010).
Alex Bugnon comments on his new album: I really liked that idea of doing a a 60s inspired record, with a Les McCann/Eddie Harris or Jazz Crusaders vibe , but I wanted to include a little more Jazz than that, more towards a Herbie Hancock/Blue Note era Quintet or Sextet kind of vibe. You know, with two horns or three horns. That's what I was going for.
At first, I really wasn't sure what to write. The first three months of 2009 found me home practicing every day, anywhere from 4 to 6 hours a day, which is something that I havent done since I was at Berklee. The rest of the time I was listening to Ahmad Jamal, especially the album The Awakening, one of my favorites. I was listening to Herbies whole Blue Note catalog, Les McCann, Miles piano players like Horace Silver, Wynton Kelly, Bill Evans and Miles Davis himself, Dave Brubeck I realized that in the sixties, this music was the popular, commercial music of the time.
Back then, this sound was really hip and undergroundand very commercial, especially the music of Miles and certain tunes of Herbie. You don't need synthesizers, drum machines and nursery rhymes. You don't need all that to be marketable. Watermelon Man and Cantaloupe Island were huge hits. Guys were really playing on those records. So, you can see the concept for Going Home came from a lot of listening and practicing.
At a certain time in April, I started to come up with new material. Something unlocked in me, because of all that listening and practicing that I did. the writing for the new record came from that. It was totally natural. I didn't have to sit down and scratch my head for hours. The tunes just came in minutes. That's how this record came about.

Home

Season
A season is a division of the year, marked by changes in weather, ecology and hours of daylight. Seasons result from the yearly orbit of the Earth around the Sun and the tilt of the Earth's rotational axis relative to the plane of the orbit. In temperate and polar regions, the seasons are marked by changes in the intensity of sunlight that reaches the Earth's surface, variations of which may cause animals to go into hibernation or to migrate, and plants to be dormant.
During May, June, and July, the northern hemisphere is exposed to more direct sunlight because the hemisphere faces the sun. The same is true of the southern hemisphere in November, December, and January. It is the tilt of the Earth that causes the Sun to be higher in the sky during the summer months which increases the solar flux. However, due to seasonal lag, June, July, and August are the hottest months in the northern hemisphere and December, January, and February are the hottest months in the southern hemisphere.

Alex Bugnon
Alex Bugnon (born October 10, 1958) is a jazz pianist and composer from Montreux, Switzerland. Alex is the Nephew of Donald Byrd.
Bugnon studied at the Paris Conservatory and the Mozart Academy in Salzburg. At age nineteen, he moved to the U.S. and attended the Berklee School of Music.
His recording career began with his 1988 debut album "Love Season" which reached the pop charts and the Top 40 of the R&B charts as did his follow-up "Head Over Heels".
Bugnon toured with "Gospel Leviticus" in the Deep South. He has been nominated for two Soul Train Music Awards for the Best Jazz Album category in 1990 and 1992.
The Contra Costa County Historical Society holds a Publicity press photo 8x10 which shows Bugnon was under contract to Epic. The photo is copyrighted by Sony Music. Copyright date is 1991. This photo was included in the Photo Morgue of the Contra Costa County Time newspaper, which is now in the custody of the Historical Society Archives. Contra Costa County, CA is the home of the Concord Jazz Festival, and Concord Jazz Recording Co. K J Mero, Database Manager.

Alex Bugnon turns his head to Jazz. His long-awaited, funky new release, this time in a traditional Jazz Sextet format of piano, bass, drums and three horns, featuring Poogie Bell, Victor Bailey, Vincent Henry, Greg Boyer and Barry Danielian is entitled Going Home (2010).
Alex Bugnon comments on his new album: I really liked that idea of doing a a 60s inspired record, with a Les McCann/Eddie Harris or Jazz Crusaders vibe , but I wanted to include a little more Jazz than that, more towards a Herbie Hancock/Blue Note era Quintet or Sextet kind of vibe. You know, with two horns or three horns. That's what I was going for.
At first, I really wasn't sure what to write. The first three months of 2009 found me home practicing every day, anywhere from 4 to 6 hours a day, which is something that I havent done since I was at Berklee. The rest of the time I was listening to Ahmad Jamal, especially the album The Awakening, one of my favorites. I was listening to Herbies whole Blue Note catalog, Les McCann, Miles piano players like Horace Silver, Wynton Kelly, Bill Evans and Miles Davis himself, Dave Brubeck I realized that in the sixties, this music was the popular, commercial music of the time.
Back then, this sound was really hip and undergroundand very commercial, especially the music of Miles and certain tunes of Herbie. You don't need synthesizers, drum machines and nursery rhymes. You don't need all that to be marketable. Watermelon Man and Cantaloupe Island were huge hits. Guys were really playing on those records. So, you can see the concept for Going Home came from a lot of listening and practicing.
At a certain time in April, I started to come up with new material. Something unlocked in me, because of all that listening and practicing that I did. the writing for the new record came from that. It was totally natural. I didn't have to sit down and scratch my head for hours. The tunes just came in minutes. That's how this record came about.

Big Monster Spider Dyson Suck Or Spider Spray
Another giant spider to deal with in our spider infested home. It's been a massive spider season this year, seeing a huge Huntsman spider hiding in the windows is something I need to deal with because my wife has a huge fear of spiders. Normally I would use a Dyson vacuum cleaner as big spider control but this spider was in a very sneaky and in a difficult place. So a different solution was needed to have this monster spider removed. Chemical control in not my prefered method but in this case it was needed. Just for the fun my son gives the spider a suck and spin in our Dyson DC59. Killer spider in the home, this time it's a toilet spider! Toilet spiders can be very dangerous spiders, this looks like a Funnel Web spider. This nasty black spider had it's web well set up and was quite comfortable living in the toilet. Obviously I am living in a spider infested home, that's no fun as it puts a burden on the safety of my family. At night when we are sleeping spiders are active hunting for food and breeding. It's all very scary spider spooky stuff, and trying to control these freak spiders is totally impossible. As you can see this spider had attitude and speed, it was black and BIG. Another giant spider to deal with in our spider infested home. It's been a massive spider season this year, seeing a huge Huntsman spider hiding in the windows is something I need to deal with because my wife has a huge fear of spiders. Normally I would use a Dyson vacuum cleaner as big spider control but this spider was in a very sneaky and in a difficult place. So a different solution was needed to have this monster spider removed. Chemical control in not my prefered method but in this case it was needed. Just for the fun my son gives the spider a suck and spin in our Dyson DC59. Normally these spider become bird feed for the local birds, but because of the methods used in this video this huge spider was sent on a magical trip through the sewer pipes.

Killer spider in the home, this time it's a toilet spider! Toilet spiders can be very dangerous spiders, this looks like a Funnel Web spider. This nasty black spider had it's web well set up and was quite comfortable living in the toilet. Obviously I am living in a spider infested home, that's no fun as it puts a burden on the safety of my family. At night when we are sleeping spiders are active hunting for food and breeding. It's all very scary spider spooky stuff, and trying to control these freak spiders is totally impossible. As you can see this spider had attitude and speed, it was black and BIG. Normally my Dyson stick vacuum would have sent this 8 legged freak to spider heaven, but another tool of the home came to the rescue. This year's spider season has been the worst I have had, I'm sure there are more spiders to come as summer hits.
Spiders (order Araneae) are air-breathing arthropods that have eight legs and chelicerae with fangs that inject venom. They are the largest order of arachnids and rank seventh in total species diversity among all other orders of organisms. Spiders are found worldwide on every continent except for Antarctica, and have become established in nearly every habitat with the exceptions of air and sea colonization. As of September 2015, at least 45,709 spider species, that's a lot of spiders, sounds sort of scary!
