In using live events for sales and marketing, organizations have found that social channels are important for not only generating attendance but also communicating the value of the content shared inside the event. Social channels have proven to be helpful and act as a support for marketers in distributing content or messaging before, during and after an event. Getting Your Event Content Together Before the Event Based on his event experience, Eric asks Karla if she notices that some companies wait too long and delay getting their content together until right before the event. Karla states that it's not uncommon for companies to wait too long. She says that the farther out you plan your content, the better you'll be able to optimize it for your event subject and social channels. The right kind of content can have a big impact in driving attendance to your live event. Karla says another common problem is the issue of not successfully integrating teams working on the event. Sometimes the team that will be planning the sessions and the content will not integrate their efforts with the social promotions team. This can lead to a gap in the effectiveness of the content and limit the value of the event overall. Leverage Social Channels After the Event Both Eric and Karla agree that some event teams forget about continued promotion after the event. Karla says that it's not only easy to leverage social channels after your live event, but very important for reinforcing the value of the event itself.
