[to Willie's seagull friend who mourns the whale's loss] And you, faithful little friend, don't be too sad, because miracles never really die. And somewhere in wherever heaven is reserved for creatures of the deep, Willie is still singing, in a hundred voices, each more golden than before, and he'll go on singing in a voice so cheery forever.

These mad scientists took their mind blowing experiments to a whole new level. Their amazing achievements might be a little scary, but no one can deny their contribution to modern day science.

Description:
Mad scientists are basically interpreted as crazy scientists who have gone to extreme lengths for their research and experiments. When we think about these people, we tend to think of an older man with crazy grey hair and evidence of past injuries from failed experiments. Mainstream media and the entertainment business have used mad scientists as important plot devices in their movies and television episodes. Even though their presence in fiction is strong, their influence in real life is even more astounding. Back in the 18th and 19th centuries, science was still struggling to be accepted in the modern world that was dominated by religion and the church. Science was often called witchcraft or dealings with the devil, and these mad scientists certainly didn’t help the cause. Today, the field of science has set some pretty strict boundaries on just how far someone can go with their experimentation. But the men in this video are the very definition of a mad scientist.
First, we have Giovanni Aldini, who certainly helped instill fear into people by electro-shocking dead bodies. This would cause the corpses to move, twitch, blink, and even make noise. To the naïve onlooker, this very much looked like Aldini was bringing the dead back to life. Speaking of bringing the dead back to live, Sergei Brukhonenko dedicated his life to creating the first heart and lung machine. He even experiment with circulation techniques on severed dog heads and was able to make them twitch and blink for several minutes. Vladimir Demikhov would take this a step further and created the first two-headed dog by surgically attaching a puppy to a large dog. The experiments were successful, but the canines would only live for about a month after the surgery was completed.
Then we have mad scientists who we have to wonder whether they suffered from some sort of mental illness. Harry Harlow experimented on infant monkeys by putting them through social isolation experiments, meaning that he would separate the babies from their mothers and deprive them of any other interaction. The monkeys would be released lost in their own minds and suffering psychologically from the experience.
Albert Hofmann was trying to devise as respiratory medication that didn’t affect a woman’s reproductive system. After accidentally absorbing the prototype through his fingers, Hofmann began to hallucinate. He would eventually call this drug, “LSD”, and he described it as “medicine for the soul.” There must have been something to LSD considering that Hofmann saw over 100 birthdays.
Sidney Gottleib is known as “Dr. FeelGood” and went under considerable criticism for his participation in mind manipulation and joining with the government’s project, “MKUltra.” Gottleib and his colleagues would slip LSD into the drinks of unsuspecting people and would take notes on what the subject was feeling and experiencing. The purpose of these experiments was to gauge how easy it would be to slip drugs and medication into someone’s food or drink, as well as getting the mind to a vulnerable state as a way to manipulate people and control them.
There are more mad scientists where this comes from. And we promise that the scientists only get madder!

Whether it's bacteria or consciousness itself, science and philosophy examine specific object that stands apart from the observer. Art is more collaborative, says Noë. It changes us as we change it. Noë's latest book is "Strange Tools: Art and Human Nature" (http://goo.gl/lP37w7).

Transcript - Artists make things not because the things they make are special but because making is special for us. We are makers. We are as human beings manufacturers. If you go back 30,000 years to the dawn of the psychologically modern human being what seems to inaugurate that beginning is precisely this explosion of making practices of tool making and tool using practices and pictorial practices and linguistic practices and clothing. We are makers and I think that artists make things to unveil that fact about ourselves. So I say that works of art are strange tools. They’re not just more tools with this or that function or application. They’re tools that in their strangeness are meant to exhibit the place that tools and technology have in our lives.
Too often I think when we come to thinking about art and we’re scientists or cognative scientists or philosophers is we think of art as if it were a phenomenon, something that we can put under glass and explain. The view that I’ve come to is that actually art is itself it’s own research practice. It’s itself a way of trying to understand the world and ourselves. And that better strategies for trying to really get a handle on the questions that interest us what is art? Why does art matter so much? What does the fact that it matters so much tell us about ourselves? Is actually to look at art as our collaborator rather than the object of our investigation. The art situation becomes an opportunity to really put one’s own perceptual consciousness or other aspects of what’s consciousness and understanding sort of interview for oneself. And that’s one of the reasons why I like to say that art is something like a philosophical practice. Because what I’ve just said about art really is paradigmatically philosophical. This idea that art or philosophy are somehow in the business of unveiling us to ourselves and in doing that it’s supplying us with resources to change.

Every Wednesday we present a new video, so join us to see the truth laid bare...
Ours is said to be a Godless age, yet billions remain faithful to religions thousands of years old.
Scientist Colin Blakemore examines Christianity's relationship with science, arguing that science is the biggest challenge Christianity has ever faced.
For more than 1,500 years Christians saw the bible as the primary source of knowledge, but in the 17th century a new movement emerged that challenged the Christian view of the world, the Scientific Revolution. During the Renaissance the rising power of science forced the Catholic Church to silence rebellious scientists. By the 19th century the enlightenment had given rise to a new generation of scientists who pushed Christianity into retreat.
If science continues to make discoveries that conflict with Christian Doctrine will the Scientific Revolution ultimately make Christianity redundant?
"Christianity: A History" is a documentary series presenting alternative views on the history of the Christian faith, looking at its origins, development and turbulent past. High profile British personalities examine a religion that has particular resonance for them. In doing so, they bring their own perspectives to a challenging and comprehensive debate that explores Christianity's role in shaping the modern world.

Has the first evidence of life after death been found?
In the largest study ever done on the sort of thing researchers at the university of southhampton examined 2,000 cases from patients who would suffered from cardiac arrest before they had been successfully brought back to life.
The strange thing they found was that during the moments in time when the brain had absolutely no measurable activity.... what is known as clinically dead....as much as 40% of the cases had recalled experiencing some sort of awareness during that period of time.
Full article at http://www.resuscitationjournal.com/article/S0300-9572(14)00739-4/pdf
You can see the questions they asked the participants here. The number next to each question represents the amount of people whom said yes out of 101.
As you can see from these questions a large amount of people experienced having a feeling of peace or pleasantness during this period of time, along with many others having impression that things were happening faster or slower.
Remember that this is during a period of time when they had no brain activity and and should be completely dead before being resuscitated.
This really raises some questions as to what life after death is or what is actually happening right when someone dies and what they would experience.
It's a landmark study, especially one that's grounded in some solid science about the afterlife, but it seems to only raise more questions than it answers.
Will science one day figure out what happens when we die? Maybe the mystery of the afterlife will one day no longer be as much of a mystery.

Researchers at the University of Cambridge uncovered skeletal remains of 27 individuals from 10,000 years ago. Some show evidence of a violent death, which is the earliest recorded violent conflict among humans, and it's changing our ideas of the history of warfare.

Why are scientists out flying over Greenland, drilling into its ice, and monitoring it from space? The answer is that they see it as a bellwether of future Earth.
Scientists are sampling, drilling, and flying over this great island because they believe it may be a bellwether of future Earth. Greenland is two million square kilometers of land… 81% of which is covered by a giant central ice cap, the Inland Ice. Here is 2.8 million cubic kilometers of ice… layered and packed over the millennia. Its thickest points lie beneath two massive ridges… the northern at 3 kilometers thick, the southern at over 3.2 kilometers.
The Inland Ice basin is framed by parallel mountain ranges. Its bedrock basement floor is down near sea level… depressed by the weight of the ice above it. If this ice sheet were to melt, the land beneath would be underwater, dotted with small islands. Over time, with the weight lifted, it would gradually rise. Today, the sheer mass of the Inland Ice exerts a gravitational pull on surrounding oceans. This pull raises sea levels all around the island.
In the event of extreme melting, a recent study showed that sea levels would actually drop out to a distance of about 1000 kilometers. More distance shores, however, would experience an average global sea level rise of over 7 meters.

Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez addressed his nation on Thursday calling for collective efforts to tackle the spread of mosquito bourne Zika after cases in the Central American country top 3,500.
Global health officials said that the Zika virus is rapidly spreading in the Americas and could infect up to 4 million people and therefore scientists are working day and night to come up with a vaccine.

Butterfly Jurassic: Scientists discover prehistoric butterfly Kalligrammatid lacewings.
Scientists have discovered a bug that became extinct more than 120 million years ago and had many of the features associated with modern butterflies, and wing markings called eyespots.
Known as lacewings Kalligrammatid, paleobotanists for the past century have known they lived in Eurasia during the Mesozoic. But recent discoveries of well-preserved fossils taken from two sites in northeast China to show how similar they were modern butterflies. Thanks to the wide gaps that limit oxygen exposure in these areas during half time through Jurassic Early Cretaceous, palaeontologists have been recovered exquisitely preserved fossils that retain much of its original structure.

Pluto just never ceases to fascinate.
NASA scientists recently discovered the dwarf planet is home to hills that float and move about.
The unique geological features were spotted in the region unofficially known as Sputnik Planum.
Individually they measure in the one to several miles wide range, but often appear in clusters as shown in an image released by NASA.
One of the larger of the groupings is estimated to cover a 37 by 22 mile area.
Their floating and mobile nature is a matter of composition.
Experts believe the hills are made of water ice, while the surface beneath them is comprised of frozen nitrogen.
Given the difference in densities between the two, the hills behave like icebergs in an ocean.
New Horizons took the image showing these features as it neared its closest approach to Pluto.
At the time the photo was snapped, the craft was roughly 10,000 miles from the surface.

A subcommittee within the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology believes NASA should set their sights on the moon and not Mars.
On Wednesday, the Space Subcommittee discussed NASA’s human exploration proposals for two hours, pointing out a number of flaws with a manned Mars mission.
A senior scientist with the Lunar and Planetary Institute came down particularly hard on the administration citing a lack of technology and economic resources necessary to undertake such an extraordinary task.
Paul Spudis added that short-term goals that will increase space faring capacity should be the focus of NASA.

In the closing months of World War II, defeat was looming for the Germans. The invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944 -- D-Day -- opened a second Allied front, and the Allies began overtaking a host of German positions; Paris was liberated on August 25; Romania and Bulgaria surrendered in quick succession. But the Nazis did not intend to go down without a fight -- and without inflicting as much damage as possible on the Allies. To do so, they employed or planned to employ an increasingly deadly array of military weapons -- from ballistic missiles to rocket planes to, perhaps, the atomic bomb.
The British, American, and Russian governments were not content to sit idly by, waiting to be slammed by the advanced technology. Covert teams of commandos and agents were sent ahead of the front lines and deep into Germany, hunting for both the weapons and the scientists and engineers who\'d created them. For British and American operatives, failure was not an option. If they didn\'t capture the Nazi technology and scientists, agents of the burgeoning Soviet Union might -- and that could spell disaster in a post-war world already feeling the chill of the impending cold war.

Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Bearden, US Army, PhD calls for the scientific community to act.
"To the sincere person who remains skeptical, consider this: Absolute proof is not needed before serious research begins on the subject. In no other field of human endeavor is proof required before serious study and research begins; on the contrary, proof is the result of this research. In this regard, the subject of extraterrestrial studies is being held to an irrational requirement of proof before serious research can begin, on the one hand, and denounced as an area of spurious interest because no proof exists, on the other!"
-Steven M. Greer, MD
RECOMMENDED SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY ACTIONS
As observations of the UFO phenomena reported by many thousands of witnesses are validated, a new set of scientific paradigms will need to be researched to explain what is being observed.
Twentieth century scientific theories have barely touched the surface in explaining what numerous scientific, military and civilian witnesses have observed and reported. However, in some cases, covert military research programs appear to have advanced much further in understanding the observed phenomena and than have our academic and public scientists. Recent findings, such as the demonstration of possible faster than speed of light phenomenon, suggest that indeed there will be a whole new class of scientific phenomena that 21st century scientists will investigate to explain what has been declared as “impossible” by scientists of the last century.
There is still a major acceptance problem about UFO/ET issues with most scientists.
Dr. Peter Sturrock, a highly respected solar physicist and now an emeritus professor at Stanford University, summarized the problem as follows: The definite resolution of the UFO enigma will not come about unless and until the problem is subjected to open and extensive scientific study by the normal procedures of established science. This requires a change in attitude primarily on the part of scientists and administrators in universities.
A further view by Dr. Sturrock on the role of scientists and scientific journals is quoted in section 3.2.1. Surprising though it may seem to the lay person, scientists often have trouble changing their understanding of processes and natural phenomena when faced with evidence that their theories may not be correct.
The history of science is replete with examples of scientists proclaiming such and such is impossible, only to be shown later that their assumptions were incorrect... [see full article here: http://www.siriusdisclosure.com/summary-of-recommended-actions-by-public-private-and-governmental-stakeholders/ ]
Over the last century, scientists have played both an active and passive role, often unknowingly, in shaping the attitudes of the “trusting” public on the UFO issue through promulgation of misinformation and disinformation.
In summary, without investigation and research, there can be no intelligent informed statement on the phenomena. This need was also recommended by a panel of scientists in the Sturrock/Rockefeller report and by scientists and military personnel in the French COMETA report summarized in section 8.0.
We recommend SCIENTISTS take the following actions:
1. Scientists must open their minds to the possibility of the UFO/ET phenomenon and stop prejudging others who are researching this area. This will require each to do their own “research” into the matter;
2. Scientists who know the UFO/ET issues are real (such as those who participate in covert research projects) should share the reality and their understanding with scientific colleagues to start to bring them up to speed. There will be a lot of catching up to do and it will be difficult because of reputations and funding issues;
3. Academic scientists should share this knowledge with their students and the public, for it is the next generation of students and graduate students that will help make the breakthroughs in research to explain what has been observed for several generations;
4. It is critical that scientists help make the study of UFO/ET issues a supported and encouraged area of scientific investigation for these future graduate students and young professional scientists;
5. Scientist/managers who run our federally funded academic research programs should set aside a small percentage of their budgets for “outside-the-box” research into the UFO/ET arena, helping to make it a legitimate area of research.
6. Finally, scientists should realize that advances in science and technology that could come from an understanding of the UFO/ET phenomenon will have far ranging effects on the future of the people and the environment of our planet. The opportunities for new “breakthrough” research have never been better (as well as the opportunity to rewrite many textbooks).

1. Scientists must open their minds to the possibility of the UFO/ET phenomenon and stop prejudging others who are researching this area. This will require each to do their own “research” into the matter;
2. Scientists who know the UFO/ET issues are real (such as those who participate in covert research projects) should share the reality and their understanding with scientific colleagues to start to bring them up to speed. There will be a lot of catching up to do and it will be difficult because of reputations and funding issues;
3. Academic scientists should share this knowledge with their students and the public, for it is the next generation of students and graduate students that will help make the breakthroughs in research to explain what has been observed for several generations;
4. It is critical that scientists help make the study of UFO/ET issues a supported and encouraged area of scientific investigation for these future graduate students and young professional scientists;

Excerpt from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flat_Earth The flat Earth model is an archaic conception of the Earth's shape as a plane or disk. Many ancient cultures subscribed to a flat Earth cosmography, including Greece until the classical period, the Bronze Age and Iron Age civilizations of the Near East until the Hellenistic period, India until the Gupta period (early centuries AD) and China until the 17th century. That paradigm was also typically held in the aboriginal cultures of the Americas, and the notion of a flat Earth domed by the firmament in the shape of an inverted bowl is common in pre-scientific societies.
The idea of a spherical Earth appeared in Greek philosophy with Pythagoras (6th century BC), although most Pre-Socratics retained the flat Earth model. Aristotle accepted the spherical shape of the Earth on empirical grounds around 330 BC, and knowledge of the spherical Earth gradually began to spread beyond the Hellenistic world from then on.
Since the 20th century the consensus among historians of science has been that medieval Europeans, with rare exception, put little confidence in a flat earth model. (end of excerpt).
Notice the last part, ' Since the 20th century the consensus among historians of science has been that medieval Europeans, with rare exception, put little confidence in a flat earth model.' ''Little confidence?'' A little. which would mean what? They're 'still' not sure.

CERN Scientist Disappears
1) I am breaking international laws regarding privacy and secrecy by publishing this information.
2) I am not going to disclose my location since I know that any attempt to prove what I’ve seen or what I’ve been part of will result in my immediate and thorough extermination.
My name is Dr. Edward Mantill and I was (technically still am) a physicist at CERN, located in Geneva, Switzerland. I specialize in particle and subatomic research, focusing on quark interactions. In other words, I study very very small particles and how they interact with one another at very high speeds.
Until Thursday, Jan. 15, 2014 I was a normal scientist living and working on the CERN campus. Most of the scientists who are involved in the branch of research that I am live on campus at the facility in Geneva and venture out only for social activities and the occasional visit home.
Most of you who have heard of CERN will have heard of the LHC (Large Hadron Collider) the largest scientific instrument which exceeds 20 miles in diameter and travels under the sovereign territory of two countries (Switzerland, France). The public has been told that it was constructed at a cost of tens of billions of Euros for the purpose of studying the birth of the universe and the collisions that take place within the collider allow us a quick glimpse at certain phenomenon that can only be witnessed when particles hit one another at incredibly high rates.
This is NOT what the machine was designed for, nor is it what the machine has been used for since it’s inception.
CERN’s main purpose for building the Collider was too, well it was to open a door way.
Allow me to explain: the doorway idea came into fruition in the 1960s. After years and years of attempting to hide UFO phenomenon, including large scale and very public interactions such as the Roswell incident, and the Battle for Los Angeles incident well before that, the governments of the United States, Great Britain, and France decided to throw their weight behind the understanding of what precisely these objects were.
The ideas flew far and wide. Were UFOs from another planet? Were they from another time? Or where they simply mass hysteria and mass delusion fueled by the overactive imagination of a public who were shit scared of communists and their technology? No, they were none of those.
Our universe is but one page in a large book. Think of a closed book sitting on a table: you see each page stacked on top of one another, bound by the spine and sandwiched between the two covers. Our universe is but one page in a vast and all-encompassing book.
And our page is certainly not the only one with rich, in depth thought and writing committed to it. Every page in the book represents a different dimension each with it’s own unique writing, own unique story, own unique way of isolating itself from the other pages. No page was to interact with the other, just as no ink bleeds from one page to another in a standard book. Each page, a universe unto itself.
