The Iranian petroleum minister said on Monday that the country has discovered a new giant gas field in the Persian Gulf.
Masoud Mir Kazemi told a news conference in Tehran on Monday that the "available gas reserves in this field are 70 (b) billion cubic metres of gas".
The gas field is located in Hormozgan province, east of Bushehr and west of Bandar Abbas.
The petroleum minister said Iran's current oil reserves are at 150.31 (b) billion barrels and added the figure would increase by the end of Iranian year in March.
Mir Kazemi also said he was not worried about lack of investment in the country's giant oil industry, saying Iran has enough assets to finance oil projects.
He praised Iran's decision to shift away from US dollars in trading its oil, saying that the county had gained considerable profits thanks to its policy.

Bandar Lengeh
Bandar Lengeh (Persian: بندرلنگه, also Romanized as Bandar-e Lengeh, Bandar-e-Langeh and Bandar Langeh; also known simply as Lengeh, Linja, or Linjah) is a harbor city in, and capital of Bandar Lengeh County, in Hormozgan province of Iran on the coast of the Persian Gulf. The harbor is 280 km from Lar, 192 km from Bandar Abbas, and 420 km from Bushehr. The weather in Bandar Lengeh is hot and humid, typical of coastal cities in southern Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 25,303, in 5,589 families.
History
Lengeh was a center for trade between Oman and Iran for over 60 years, from 1759 to 1814. After 1814, Bandar Abbas played a major role in regional trade.
Climate
Bandar Lengeh has a hot desert climate (Köppen climate classification BWh) with hot summers and mild winters. Precipitation is very low, and mostly falls from December to March.

It is said to have a capacity of transporting up to 14 million passengers annually, which can be increased to 17 million in coming years.
The executive operations to construct Shahid Haqqani Terminal ايستگاه شهيد حقاني, worth $4.031 million, were launched in April 2012.
Iran has plans to develop multipurpose ports and build passenger terminals and wharfs across the country.
Despite the US-engineered sanctions against Iran, substantial investment is made in Iranian ports, with approximately $3.2 billion reportedly allocated to about 150 projects.
According to Sadr, at least half of the capital is being sourced from the private sector, with the funds being used for a full range of projects, including dredging, berth construction, yard modernization and the purchase of new handling equipment.
