Note:
There are no proofs for any "genocide or ethnic cleansing of 'Macedonians' in Greece", as there are actually no proofs for a genocide of any people in Greece. No international professional organization ever recognized any such alleged "genocide" to have occurred in modern Greece. There never were or will be people to form an "ethnic Macedonian minority" in Greece, because the Greek citizens originating or living in the famous province of Macedonia in northern Greece, the overwhelming majority of whom confess a Greek ethnic consciousness, are plain Macedonians and proud of their strong regional identity. There's already a "Macedonian majority" of ethnic Greeks in northern Greece, the Makedones people (Μακεδόνες), and no place for any such otherwise purely politically created minority. Greece liberated the territory and people of the historical region of Macedonia proper from under the Turkish yoke / Ottoman Empire's rule, so, it didn't "occupy" any imaginary state of "(United) Macedonia", and, since then, Greece legally exercises its sovereignty over that territory, according to the provisions of an international treaty. By the time of Macedonia's liberation from under the Turkish yoke, the overwhelming majority of the ancestors of the people who from the culturally Slavic main ethnic group in the Former YugoSLAV Republic of "Makedonija" (FYRo'M') were declaring themselves proud Bulgarians and were perceived as such by all the international observers.

2014 was a big year for global events, but one event that slipped though the news headlines was 2014's place as the 100 year anniversary of the Greek genocide of 1914. The Greek genocide - also referred to as the Armenian genocide - took place in Asia minor during the breakup of the Ottoman empire during World War I, taking the lives of over 3 million Greeks, Assyrians and Armenians at the hand of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. This war and the people lost in it have long been forgotten by much of the global community. But with the wrath of ISIS today and their campaign against all non-extermeists, many of the reflections of the Greek genocide are rearing their head again. This historic war is especially poignant for Katie, being a descendant of one of the few survivors of the wrath of Kemal Ataturk, her family hails from Pontus, a Greek region of Asia minor on the South coast of the Black Sea which is today's Turkey. Check out the episode to hear more about the amazing story of how Katie's family made it to America and escaped the war -- and tell us your own stories of overcoming tragedy. History is only lost when we choose to forget it.

The Turkish government thinks that by denying the genocide committed against their Christian minorities between 1914 and 1918, it can wipe its dark past. In doing so, they claim that the genocide that brutally killed 1,500,000 Armenians, 750,000 Assyrians and 300,000 Pontic Greeks is a "fabrication of history". The overwhelming evidence and eyewitness accounts of this tragedy is testimony that these horrible crimes were committed and continuing to deny the crime only makes today's Turkish government an accomplice to the crime.

Introduced by Ioannis Fidanakis, Geller was one of the speakers who paid tribute to the victims of the Greek, Armenian and Assyrian Genocides outside the United Nations in Ralph Bunche Park in New York City.
This year's commemoration was organized and hosted by Panthracian Union of America 'Orpheus' and supported by the Hellenic League of America, HLA, and will feature such guest speakers as, First Vice-President of the International Association of Genocide Scholars, Professor Alex Hinton; President of the Federation of Hellenic Societies of Greater New York, Elias Tsekerides and President of the PanPontian Federation of USA and Canada, Dimitris Molohides. The host was Ioannis Fidanakis.

Liberal Premier, The Hon. Barry O'Farrell MP, moving a motion within the Parliament of NSW Legislative Assembly to recognise the Assyrian, Armenian, and Greek Genocide by the Ottoman Empire.
The motion passed unanimously in the house.
I thank the Premier and the Parliament, the Genocide was an issue very close to my heart that I had long lobbied for.
The motion read:
That this House:
(1) notes that on 17 April 1997, this House recognised and condemned the Genocide of the Armenians by the then Ottoman Government between 1915 and 1922, and designated 24 April of every year thereafter as a day of remembrance of the 1.5 million Armenians who fell victim to the first genocide of the twentieth century;
(2) recognises that Assyrians and Greeks were subjected to qualitatively similar genocides by the then Ottoman Government between 1915 and 1922;
(3) reaffirms its condemnation of the genocide of the Assyrians, Armenians and Greeks, and all other acts of genocide as the ultimate act of intolerance;
(4) recognises the importance of remembering and learning from such dark chapters in human history to ensure that such crimes against humanity are not allowed to be repeated;
(5) acknowledges and pays tribute to the contribution of the Anzac servicemen who aided the survivors of the genocide; and
(6) acknowledges the significant humanitarian relief contribution made by the people of New South Wales to the victims and survivors of the genocide.

Greek genocide also known as the Pontic genocide, was the systematic killing of the Greek population of the Ottoman Empire during World War I and its aftermath (1914–1923). It was instigated by the government of the Ottoman Empire against the Greek population of the Empire and it included massacres, forced deportations involving death marches, summary expulsions, arbitrary executions, and destruction of Christian Orthodox cultural, historical and religious monuments. According to various sources, several hundred thousand Ottoman Greeks died during this period. Some of the survivors and refugees, especially those in Eastern provinces, took refuge in the neighbouring Russian Empire. After the end of the 1919–22 Greco-Turkish War, most of the Greeks remaining in the Ottoman Empire were transferred to Greece under the terms of the 1923 population exchange between Greece and Turkey. Other ethnic groups were similarly attacked by the Ottoman Empire during this period, including Assyrians and Armenians, and some scholars consider those events to be part of the same policy of extermination.

There are no proofs for any "genocide or ethnic cleansing of 'Macedonians' in Greece", as there are actually no proofs for a genocide of any people in Greece. No international professional organization ever recognized any such alleged "genocide" to have occurred in modern Greece. There never were or will be people to form an "ethnic Macedonian minority" in Greece, because the Greek citizens originating or living in the famous province of Macedonia in northern Greece, the overwhelming majority of whom confess a Greek ethnic consciousness, are plain Macedonians and proud of their strong regional identity. There's already a "Macedonian majority" of ethnic Greeks in northern Greece, the Makedones people (Μακεδόνες), and no place for any such otherwise purely politically created minority. This war and the people lost in it have long been forgotten by much of the global community. But with the wrath of ISIS today and their campaign against all non-extermeists, many of the reflections of the Greek genocide are rearing their head again. This historic war is especially poignant for Katie, being a descendant of one of the few survivors of the wrath of Kemal Ataturk, her family hails from Pontus, a Greek region of Asia minor on the South coast of the Black Sea which is today's Turkey.
