http://www.mormonchannel.org/watch/series/give-back ISIS chased more than one million people from their homes in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. Militants swept through the city and the people were forced to flee for their lives. All they had were the clothes on their backs—no money, food, or cars. The one thing they could cling to was hope. Hope is what they found in a small refugee village in Armenia run by Mayor Murad Mardilos Wartanian.
At the time, the village was comprised of 115 families, living in 115 houses. Then 82 refugee families arrived. More and more homeless people came to the village. The mayor did not turn any of them away; instead, he welcomed them enthusiastically.
“We came here when we had no place to go to, and the people here did not abandon us. They provided everything we need,” says one refugee.
The mayor made room for them to live in the school and the main hall. He gave them beds, clothing, and food. Thanks to his generosity, they enjoy a feeling of safety that seemed gone forever.
“We are not perfect, but we love helping others, because we know this is an emergency, and people in hard situations should show who they really are and be good to one another,” says the mayor.

Members of Iraq’s Yazidis sect follow an ancient religion, which incorporates elements of Islam and indigenous beliefs. After the Islamic State overran parts of northern Iraq, tens of thousands of Yazidis were forced into the Sinjar mountain range, where Islamic State militants — who consider the Yazidi devil worshippers — surrounded them.
President Obama claimed on August 14 that the US military intervention in Iraq broke the siege of the trapped Yazidi civilians in the Sinjar mountains. But the Yazidi themselves disagree. Instead, they are adamant that they owe their rescue from the surrounding Islamic State militants to the Syrian Kurdish fighters of the People's Protection Units (YPG). The YPG has been fighting the Islamic State longer and harder than any other group in Syria, and pushed a narrow escape route deep through Islamic State territory to rescue the Yazidis.
VICE News travelled through the desert corridor to ascertain the true story of the Yazidis’ last minute escape from the Islamic State.

Refugees fleeing unrest in Iraq received a very poor welcome in Finland this week. John Iadarola (Think Tank) and Ben Mankiewicz (Turner Classic Movies), hosts of the The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.
"After fleeing bombs and beheadings, Iraqi asylum seekers must now also face discrimination upon arrival to Finland. State media reported that dozens of Finnish nationalists greeted the Iraqi contingent by hurling rocks and setting of fireworks. One man was even dressed like a Ku Klux Klan member.
While the protesters were not particularly large in number – only about three-dozen according to the New York Times – they are indicative of Finland’s hostile reception to refugees and asylum seekers. The incident took place in Lahti, a town in southern Finland. Meanwhile, a gas bomb was thrown at a reception center in Kouvola, which is also in southern Finland.”*

UNHCR Special Envoy Angelina Jolie recently visited internally displaced Iraqis living in an informal settlement and a formal camp at Khanke, near Dohuk. There, she heard dramatic stories of escape from the more than 20,000 Yazidis who fled Sinjar and surrounding areas last August.
Since Ms Jolie's last visit to Iraq in September 2012, the scale and gravity of the humanitarian situation have increased dramatically, as the conflicts in Syria and Iraq intensify and become intertwined.
"It is shocking to see how the humanitarian situation in Iraq has deteriorated since my last visit. On top of large numbers of Syrian refugees, two million Iraqis were displaced by violence in 2014 alone. Many of these innocent people have been uprooted multiple times as they seek safety amidst shifting frontlines."

Erbil International Airport (IATA: EBL, ICAO: ORER), is the main airport of Erbil city in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Erbil International Airport is centrally located on the Silk Road of the Airways. Following the liberation of Iraq in 2003, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) decided to transform Erbil's former military base into a modern civil aviation airport to serve as a major gateway to the world. Erbil International Airport (EIA) officially opened on July 7, 2005, and it welcomed its first IATA carrier on 11th December 2006. The KRG has enacted favorable rules to attract foreign investors and to help citizens of the Kurdistan Region in exile return home. Domestic traffic, as well as regional traffic throughout the expansive Middle East, is growing. Kurdistan's great natural resources of oil, natural gas and other minerals are creating a flourishing and rapidly growing business environment. Kurdistan is previously in exile are returning, bringing with them connections to other lands. There is an ever stronger need for efficient air transport, for passengers as well as cargo. The Erbil area has a stable water supply, and is surrounded by scenic and accessible wilderness lands, with greenery, clean streams, waterfalls and caves. This stands in stark contrast to other Middle Eastern destinations, and visitors will fuel an important tourism industry in Kurdistan. These are some of the reasons that the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and EIA have constructed and equipped an airport for the future, with capacity for three million passengers, and one of the world's longest runways, designed to accommodate the Airbus A380 and cargo aircraft of that class. The airport is the culmination of the vision and strategy put in place in 2003.

The destabilisation of Iraq in the past decade has contributed to the state of anarchy in the Middle East, the rise of extremism and the mushrooming of terrorism. To achieve stability, Iraq must be supported to achieve meaningful reforms and strong central government. Corruption, quota system and foreign intervention are among the illnesses of the country. What are the prospects of Iraq’s transformation into a sovereign, democratic and stable power? These challenges will be debated at this seminar.

EXCLUSIVE: VICE News Meets Barack Obama: http://bit.ly/1wT03Bi
The Islamic State, a hardline Sunni jihadist group that formerly had ties to al Qaeda, has conquered large swathes of Iraq and Syria. Previously known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), the group has announced its intention to reestablish the caliphate and has declared its leader, the shadowy Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, as the caliph.
The lightning advances the Islamic State made across Syria and Iraq in June shocked the world. But it's not just the group's military victories that have garnered attention — it's also the pace with which its members have begun to carve out a viable state.
Flush with cash and US weapons seized during its advances in Iraq, the Islamic State's expansion shows no sign of slowing down. In the first week of August alone, Islamic State fighters have taken over new areas in northern Iraq, encroaching on Kurdish territory and sending Christians and other minorities fleeing as reports of massacres emerged.
VICE News reporter Medyan Dairieh spent three weeks embedded with the Islamic State, gaining unprecedented access to the group in Iraq and Syria as the first and only journalist to document its inner workings.

MaximsNewsNetwork: REFUGEES CRSSING Borders of Macedonia-Greece, Slovenia-Croatia
MaximsNewsNetwork: United Nations, U.N. Refugee Agency, UNHCR, 19 October 2015-- The UN refugee agency reported on Monday (19 October 2015) that thousands of refugees from Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq continue to arrive at crossings in Vinojug, at the FYR of Macedonia-Greece border, and Trnovec at the Slovenia-Croatia border.
In Vinojug, close to the town of Gevgelija, UNHCR is working in partnership with local NGOs and teams of volunteers at a refugee transit centre it set up there two months ago, where it provides shelter, food and medical supplies.
The agency says that some 300,000 refugees and migrants have passed through the centre, on their way to EU countries.
Moharrab el Sahy, a Syrian refugee who was seen boarding a train at Vinojug, said "to be honest, a country that has a war doesn't have a future for children. So we're going to a safe country for the children."
Slobodan Mitrovic, a Red Cross Paramedic and leader of a team of doctors and nurses who have been working around the clock to provide medical care at the transit centre said there was a spike in flu-related illnesses. "The weather is getting colder and colder, we are getting more cases with the flu, problems with the little babies, with the pregnant women," Mitrovic said.
Alexandra Krause, a UNHCR Senior Emergency Coordinator, praised the work of the organisations who were working in the FYR of Macedonia.
"We have over five volunteer NGOs registered here in Macedonia who are distributing food, and it's all organised through volunteers who are working for free," Krause said.
"Their food is given by private donations, and we have several organisations who are able to provide as much as 1000 food parcels per day, and they are doing that for several months now," she added.
Meanwhile on Monday, some 2,000 refugees and migrant arrived at Trnovec, at the Croatian border with Slovenia, after having travelled by train from Tovarnik in Serbia. Nationalities included Syrian, Afghan and Iraqi men, women and children.
Hussein Jije, one of the many Syrian refugee who arrived at the border town in the early hours of Monday, said he had been waiting for almost 24 hours, with no sign of being let through the crossing.
"I just want to pass this border, if I can. Maybe I will not continue to pass any border. We are here 24 hours almost. 24 hours. And I don't know where the bus, where the train. Why they let us here. I don't understand,'' Jije said.
UNHCR reported that 5,000 migrants and refugees have entered Slovenia, after Hungary closed its borders late last week.

An estimated 9 million Syrians have fled their homes since the outbreak of civil war in March 2011, taking refuge in neighboring countries or within Syria itself. Over 3 million have fled to Syria's immediate neighbors Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq. 6.5 million are internally displaced within Syria.
This issue is real. And it's not going anywhere.
Asian Student Association at Appalachian State University is collaborating with Student Government Association, Chinese Culture Club, Korean Culture Club, Japanese Culture Club, Muslim Student Association, and Hmong Society Club to host a charity gala with all proceeds going to help provide education, protection, support, clothing, clean drinking water, and medical needs to Syrian refugees in Iraq, Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, and other countries.
ASA is hosting a Charity Gala, where all the proceeds will go towards this charity. Therefore, I need your guys' help to reach our goal!!! Every penny counts! Please go to the gofundme and donate!! You can help change a life!

MaximsNewsNetwork: SYRIA– IRAQ REFUGEES to JORDAN, EGYPT, LEBANON & EUROPE (WorldLeadersTV) (UNTV-CH)
MaximsNewsNetwork: United Nations, 25 September 2015, Geneva –
The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) reported today that while more than four million Syrian refugees are in countries neighbouring Syria, recent months have seen an increase in the number of Syrians seeking refuge further afield including in Europe – so far almost 429,000 asylum applications by Syrians have been received in Europe.
The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) presented today the seven drivers they identified which make refugees leaving Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon and Iraq and coming to Europe.
Adrian Edwards, Spokesperson for UNHCR explained to reporters in Geneva that 'the 7 factors that we are looking at is loss of hope, high costs and poverty, limited livelihood opportunities, aid shortfalls, hurdles in renewing legal residency, limited education costs and in Iraq an issue to do with physical safety."
After hosting the refugees for almost five years, the capacities of the neighbouring countries are getting more and more drained.
The Agency's Regional Refugee Coordinator for the Syria Region, Amin Awad says that "the exhaustion of infrastructure and resources that were very much helping the refugees and making their live comfortable now countries like Lebanon, Jordan do have a problem with water for example, this is some of the most poor countries when it comes to water resources, infrastructures as far as education, health are also exhausted or affected because of the pressure of the 4 million refugees in surrounding countries."
Furthermore, Aid programmes for refugees and host communities in the region have been plagued by chronic funding shortages.
Amin Awad, Regional Refugee Coordinator for the Syria Region of the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) resumes that " aid short falls, the UN regional refugee resilience response plan (for 2015) as a 4,5 billion Dollars appeal, only 41 percent now is funded, there is a shortfall of 2,8 billion dollars. When people are not having proper shelter, when people do not have food, they are living on 45 cents a day, and on behalf of WFP I must say that WFP had to roll back their food aid because of no funding from 40 US Dollar a month to 13,5 US Dollar a month for a family of 5 people. They live on 45 Cents a day. Of course they will move out of, these people. And Syrians are checking out form the neighbouring countries".
In Iraq, the current circumstances are similar to the ones in Syria, according to the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
Its Deputy Humanitarian Coordinator in Iraq, Dominik Bartsch says that "the humanitarian situation is worsening dramatically. We now have, as of last week, a confirmed Cholera outbreak and we fear that this outbreak will very quickly spread to other parts of the country. We are finding ourselves in a situation where most basic services are not supported financially and therefore have to be scaled back. 77 health ports have been closed over the past three months, food rations just as it is the case in other countries in the region, have been reduced quite drastically and the same goes for water supply."
The worsening conditions that refugees face in exile are having a devastating impact on the education of refugees. OCHA considers its inability to support education and give a perspective to parents whose children have been now out of school for more than a year as a heavy burden for the family. Dominik Bartsch assumes that this is a contributing factor for individuals to take the decision to depart from this environment.
As a consequence, he says that "we anticipate 10 million Iraqis will require some form of humanitarian assistance by the end of this year. That is more than a quarter of the population."
This figure includes 3,2 million internally displaced people and people living inISIL, ISIL controlled areas in the west of the country. The crisis in Iraq has accelerated since last year when ISIL took over a good portion of the country. Only 10 percent of the displaced people is accommodated in camps, the vast majority is living with friends and family or squatting in half-finished buildings.

U.S. military aircraft carried out airstrikes on Islamist militants besieging Kurdish forces in northern Iraq, the Pentagon announced Friday.
The airstrikes targeted artillery being used by militants of the Islamic State extremist group against Kurdish forces defending Irbil, the Kurdish regional capital, the Pentagon said. It said the artillery was used “near U.S. personnel.”
The U.S. action came after President Obama authorized airstrikes against Sunni Muslim extremists who punctured Kurdish defenses in a powerful offensive in northern Iraq on Thursday. Obama also sent U.S. military aircraft to drop food and water to besieged Iraqi civilians in the region.
Obama, in a statement delivered at the White House late Thursday, said that strikes would be launched against extremist convoys “should they move toward” the Kurdish capital of Irbil, where the United States maintains a consulate and a joint operations center with the Iraqi military.
“We intend to take action if they threaten our facilities anywhere in Iraq . . . including Irbil and Baghdad,” he said.
A senior administration official described the airstrike authorization as “narrow,” but outlined a number of broad contingencies in which they could be launched, including a possible threat to U.S. personnel in Baghdad from possible breaches in a major dam Islamist forces seized Thursday that could flood the Iraqi capital.
U.S. aircraft also are authorized to launch airstrikes if the military determines that Iraqi government and Kurdish forces are unable to break the siege that has stranded tens of thousands of civilians belonging to the minority Yazidi sect atop a barren mountain outside the northern town of Sinjar.

http://www.latifyahia.net COPYRIGHT © A few months back I decided to venture out as a #refugee in #Europe claiming #asylum in #Finland as part of an investigation into what life is really like as an asylum seeker in #Europe. I chose #Finland as it is voted as the Top country for #Human #Rights. My #investigation was partially to prove that the only #people getting assured #Refugee Status is the #Shia_Militias coming to #Europe and other western #countries since the 80s. The #Shia_Militias were created by America in 2003, they picked people with #western citizenship or residency & mixed them with the Iraqi army and the #police. These #Shia_Militias went on to #murder over 2 and half million people with the help of their #American founders under the name of terrorism, thus leading to over 4 million #people leaving Iraq as refugees and leaving over 3 million as refugees inside Iraq. #America is still supporting these Militias in the name of fighting "terrorism". #Shia_Militias not only murder their own people but they #kidnap & steal and leave Iraq with their stolen money to go to their new homes in the west where they have been granted asylum. The western #governments seem only to care about refugees if they are bringing blood money to fill the banks. The puppet #government installed in Iraq after the 2003 American invasion support these #Shia_Militias leaving them free to do as they like.
#Europe is now swaming with #Shia_Militias , granted asylum because they have all this money got from committing very serious crimes.
#IRAN is also to blame for these Militias, having created them to invade western countries as an option to be a threat to the world should Iran be the subject of scrutiny.
Meanwhile, the real refugees fleeing for their lives and for the lives of their families are subjected to poor treatment by western countries. Being considered a refugee is a hard title to bear, and makes people feel ashamed of their circumstance....circumstances caused by these western countries in the first place.
Since my experience as a refugee there has been an implosion of refugees into Europe and with them many #Shia_Militias taking advantage of this dire situation. These are dangerous criminals with no morals and do not value human life.

wn.com/The Truth About The Drowning Of Alan Kurdi, Syrian Refugees And The War Against Isis (Isil)
Alan Kurdi was a three-year-old Syrian boy of Kurdish ethnic background who made headlines around the world after being drowned in the Mediterranean Sea, as part of the Syrian refugee crisis. Photographs of the toddler's body were taken by journalist Nilufer Demir and quickly spread around the world, prompting an international response. Because Kurdi's family had been trying to reach Canada, his death as well as the refugee crisis quickly became an issue in the 2015 Canadian federal election.

Fox News' Sean Hannity Feeds Donald Trump Fake Middle Eastern Refugee Claim From Hoax Website
Clips of Sean Hannity and Donald Trump discussing the 250,000 Syrian refugees President Barack Obama said he would allow into the United States.
The waves of refugees fleeing Syria and Iraq have given the conflict there a domestic immediacy in the race for the White House. While Europe is absorbing the great majority of refugees, some are headed toward the United States. The question is, how many?
About 250,000, according to Fox News host Sean Hannity. During an interview with Republican presidential contender Jeb Bush on Oct. 19, 2015, Hannity worried that ISIS would try to infiltrate the arriving masses.
"You see the backlash emerging now in Europe over the refugee problem for Syria and Iraq," Hannity said. "The president said he’s going to bring in 250,000 refugees into this country."
"We can’t take 250,000 refugees," Bush responded. "I’ve never heard that, and that would be impossible to imagine logistically for us to screen."
In plain fact, President Barack Obama never said that, nor as far as anyone can tell has any member of his administration. In September, White House press secretary Josh Earnest told reporters Obama "informed his team that he would like them to accept -- at least make preparations to accept -- at least 10,000 Syrian refugees in the next fiscal year."
In its Fiscal Year 2016 budget request, the administration is asking for enough money to resettle 85,000 people in total from around the world. The figure would rise to 100,000 in Fiscal Year 2017.
The 250,000 figure, if it were accurate, would dwarf the 120,000 refugees from the Syrian conflict the European community said it aims to relocate inside its members’ borders.
The Migration Policy Institute gathers data to track the movement of people across the globe.
"We are not aware of any suggestion that the United States would seek to resettle 250,000 refugees from Syria or Iraq," Michelle Mittelstadt, the institute’s director of communications, told us.
We reached out to Hannity’s program and did not hear back.
The figure he used seems to have emerged in early September on a website called realnewsrightnow.com. The website reported that State Department spokeswoman Cathy Pieper announced that 250,000 Syrian refugees would be resettled on tribal reservation lands in Arizona and North Dakota.
We could find no Cathy Pieper working for the State Department.
Other articles on realnewsrightnow.com claim that "Obama will exercise his presidential powers" ending term limits and that Pope Francis claimed that "God Has Instructed Me to Revise the Ten Commandments."
The author of all the articles is R. Hobbus J.D., who "has received numerous awards for his work including the prestigious Stephen Glass Distinction in Journalistic Integrity (2011), The Oscar Mayer Award for Journalistic Excellence (2003), three Nobel Peace Prize nominations, one Pulitzer in Investigative Reporting (1998), and two Pulitzer Prizes in Commentary (1996, 2008). He resides comfortably in his modest home overlooking the coast of Nantucket surrounded by his wife and twelve cats."
Long story short, while we don’t know where Hannity got his number, it appears someone fell for a hoax from a fake news website.
For the record, Hannity brought up the figure again Oct. 20 during an interview with Donald Trump. And Trump then used the 250,000 figure at a townhall meeting broadcast live on NBC in New Hampshire, Oct. 26.
