Here's a delicious recipe on how to make the perfect hummus three ways. Definitely worth trying out this weekend, whether you're entertaining or just relaxing, these three hummus variables will add to any snack!
Recipe:
Takes 30 minutes
Makes about 1kg of hummus altogether
This is a really cool thing to do with hummus. In this recipe you will make a basic hummus that tastes realy good and then turn ⅓ of it into a roasted carrot hummus another ⅓ into a pink sweet beetroot and olive oil hummus and the final one will stay strong as standard issue hummus! It's a great thing to do for a bit of variety and especially for a dinner party or for drinks.
Basic Hummus Ingredients:
6 cloves of garlic (peel)
3 x 400g tins of chickpeas (drain and rinse well)
150ml lemon juice (juice of 3 lemons)
6 tablespoons light tahini
3 teaspoons salt
a pinch of freshly ground black pepper
½ tsp pinch of ground cumin
9 tablespoons water
Bits to transform 2 of your hummuses!
3 medium carrots (approx 250g)
1 medium raw beetroot (175g)
4 tablespoons of olive oil

Hummus is a Middle Eastern food dip or spread made from cooked, mashed chickpeas, blended with tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, salt and garlic. In its earliest form, "Hummus Kasa", the recipe is of medieval Egyptian origin: 'Hummus Kasa', the earliest documented recipe for something similar to modern hummus (although without garlic, and with additional spices and nuts), dates to 13th Century (CE) Egypt. Today, it is popular throughout the Middle East (the Levant in particular), Morocco, and in Middle Eastern cuisine around the globe.
The English word hummus comes from Turkish humus meaning the hummus food dip or spread, which in turn comes from Arabic حمّص ḥummuṣ, in turn derived from ḥimmaṣ "chickpeas". The earliest known attestation for hummus in English is in 1955. Spellings of the word in English can be inconsistent. Among the spellings are hummus, hummous, houmous, hommos, humos, hommus, hoummos, etc. The spelling humus is generally avoided in English as it is a homonym of humus (organic matter in soil), though this is the usual Turkish spelling and the Oxford English Dictionary indicates the word entered the English language from Turkish.

Alton Crawford Brown (born July 30, 1962) is an American television personality, celebrity chef, author, actor, and cinematographer. He is the creator and host of the Food Network television show Good Eats, the mini-series Feasting on Asphalt and Feasting on Waves, and host and main commentator on Iron Chef America. Brown is also the author of several books on cookery.
He brings a knowledge and enthusiasm for the science of cooking and food and a humorous approach to his shows. Bon Appétit magazine named him "Cooking Teacher of the Year" in 2004. He was named "Best Food Guru" by Atlanta magazine in 2005. In 2011, he won the James Beard Award for Best TV Food Personality.
Brown was born in Los Angeles, California, United States. He was in the Boy Scouts. He received a degree in drama from the University of Georgia. He began his career in cinematography and film production.
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, he was the cinematographer for several music videos, including The One I Love by R.E.M..

Here's a delicious recipe on how to make the perfect hummus three ways. Definitely worth trying out this weekend, whether you're entertaining or just relaxing, these three hummus variables will add to any snack!
Recipe:
Takes 30 minutes
Makes about 1kg of hummus altogether
This is a really cool thing to do with hummus. In this recipe you will make a basic hummus that tastes realy good and then turn ⅓ of it into a roasted carrot hummus another ⅓ into a pink sweet beetroot and olive oil hummus and the final one will stay strong as standard issue hummus! It's a great thing to do for a bit of variety and especially for a dinner party or for drinks.
Basic Hummus Ingredients:
6 cloves of garlic (peel)
3 x 400g tins of chickpeas (drain and rinse well)
150ml lemon juice (juice of 3 lemons)
6 tablespoons light tahini
3 teaspoons salt
a pinch of freshly ground black pepper
½ tsp pinch of ground cumin
9 tablespoons water
Bits to transform 2 of your hummuses!
3 medium carrots (approx 250g)
1 medium raw beetroot (175g)
4 tablespoons of olive oil

Jak zrobić hummus? Przyrządzenie prawdziwego hummusu jest bardzo proste, choć spotkałam się ze stwierdzeniem, że może być sporym wyzwaniem. I nie potwierdzam:) To tylko tak wygląda, ale po pierwszym jego zrobieniu uwierzycie, że to jedna z prostszych i… najpyszniejszych potraw świata. Tylko trzeba się trzymać kilku zasad. Jest także bardzo zdrowa –ciecierzyca jest bogatym źródłem łatwo przyswajalnego białka, a z dodatkiem tahini i sezamu również wapnia. Istnieje wiele przepisów na hummus. Podaję tu ten, z którego zawsze korzystam i który odpowiada mi najbardziej -i smakiem, i konsystencją. Podam też kilka alternatywnych dodatków, bo nawet w gronie znajomych mamy swoje nieco odmienne upodobania. Baza jednak jest stała: ciecierzyca, tahini, czosnek i sok z cytryny oraz sól i kmin.
O kilku zasadach i podstawach zrobienia dobrego hummusu mówię w załączonym filmie oraz w poniższym przepisie. Mam nadzieję, że i Wam posmakuje;)

The survey warns against the airline's individual snacks and suggests the granola, yogurt and fruit breakfast and the protein meal with hummus, nuts and tuna.
