This is a mixture of different clips that didn't make it into any other videos.
For the walking parts these are the ones that were nearly binned due to excessive camera shake. They are not the best because I was very drunk taking them.

On Day 5 we checked out of our hotel at Khao San Road and transferred to Sathon, which is one of the main downtown financial districts of Bangkok. From there, we headed to Or Tor Kor Market (ตลาด อตก), which is one of the best food markets in Bangkok, and then went on to Chatuchak Weekend Market (ตลาดนัดจตุจักร) to do some walking around with Dwight.
00:47 Som Song Pochana (ร้านสมทรงโภชนา) - Before leaving Khao San Road, we stopped at a restaurant called Som Song Pochana (ร้านสมทรงโภชนา) to have a bowl of kuay teow Sukhothai haeng (ก๋วยเตี๋ยวต้มยำสุโขทัยเส้นเล็กแห้ง).
5:15 Or Tor Kor Market (ตลาด อตก) - Or Tor Kor Market (ตลาด อตก) is one of the best Thai food markets in Bangkok - it’s a very nice and clean market, and there’s a really good mixture of both fresh vegetables and fruit for sale, as well as a good sized food court where you can sit down and choose from all sorts of different things. The market is a little on the expensive side compared to other fresh markets in Bangkok, but the food is known to be very high quality, and you can get some of the best ingredients and fresh fruits in all of Thailand. Along with Dwight, I started off with khanom buang (ขนมเบื้อง), a Thai dessert that is a small pancake crepe filled with a variety of different toppings. I’m not a huge sweets fan, but they were alright. We then proceeded on to eat a plate of rice and curry, khao gaeng (ข้าวแกง), which was delicious. For my main meal at Or Tor Kor Market (ตลาด อตก) this day, I went to a stall called Som Tam Or Tor Kor Restaurant (ร้านส้มตำ อตก), which specializes mainly in Thai green papaya salad and grilled chicken. I ordered a fiery plate of som tam boo pla ra (ส้มต้มปูปลาร้า), Thai green papaya salad with fermented fish and crab - it was incredibly delicious and incredibly spicy! I also had a full gai yang (ไก่ย่าง), grilled chicken, which was incredibly good as well. Finally, Dwight came to the table with some durian and mangosteen, which is always a good thing to eat when you go to Or Tor Kor Market (ตลาด อตก).
16:18 Right across the MRT station from Or Tor Kor Market is Chatuchak Weekend Market (ตลาดนัดจตุจักร), one of the most famous attractions in all of Bangkok. After getting some much needed water, I then had some kai pla meuk tod (ไข่ปลาหมึกทอด), which are fried squid eggs, and they are quite a popular snack at the market. They are fried in lots of oil, and then covered in a chili garlic sauce. They kind of remind me of eating egg yolks, they are definitely pretty rich, and with the chili sauce they are pretty good.
22:48 Stall at Silom Soi 9 (สีลมซอย 9) - For dinner we met up with a friend who took us to one of his favorite stalls on Silom Soi 9. We were with a group and we ordered up a bunch of different dishes including goong pad pongari (กุ้งผัดผงกะหรี่) - shrimp in yellow egg curry, meuk pad cha (หมึกผัดฉ่า) - squid with fingerroot, potaek talay (โป๊ะแตกทะเล) - seafood soup, kana moo krob (คะน้าหมูกรอบ) - kailan with crispy pork, moo manao (หมูมะนาว) - sour lime juice pork, neua dad diaw (เนื้อแดดเดียว) - dried fried pork, and finally a kai jeow moo saab (ไข่เจียวหมูสับ) - Thai style omelet for dessert to top everything off.

On Day 4 of this 2 Weeks In Bangkok video guide series we went to Khlong Lat Mayom Floating Market (ตลาดน้ำคลองลัดมะยม), which is one of my favorite floating markets in Bangkok - for the food and atmosphere.
00:37 Khlong Lat Mayom Floating Market (ตลาดน้ำคลองลัดมะยม) - When it comes to floating markets in Bangkok, and there are quite a few of them, Khlong Lat Mayom Floating Market (ตลาดน้ำคลองลัดมะยม) is one of my personal favorites. I love it for the variety and abundance of delicious food, and for the great lush and green atmosphere. Even though it’s still located in Bangkok, the market feels like you’re far removed, and it doesn’t feel like you’re so close to the city. There is a lot of delicious food to eat at the floating market, but one of my favorite things to eat, and something you shouldn’t miss either, is pla chon pao (ปลาช่อนเผา), which is a grilled snakehead fish. Despite it looking a little on the scary side, it’s really an awesome fish, similar in taste to a catfish, but more meaty and not quite as rubbery. It was a really good snakehead fish at the floating market this time - cooked so it was nice and moist. We also ate a plate of goong ob woon sen (กุ้งอบวุ้นเส้น), another excellent Thai seafood dish of mung bean noodles and big freshwater shrimp cooked in a personal pot. After having lunch at the floating market, we then decided to take a boat ride tour, which just costs 50 THB per person, which is a great deal. The boat ride tour was actually quite entertaining and was definitely worth it. If you go to Khlong Lat Mayom Floating Market (ตลาดน้ำคลองลัดมะยม), I’d highly recommend the boat tour along with all the delicious food.
16:35 Dinner at Saw Nah Wang (ร้าน ส.หน้าวัง) - After getting back to our hotel near Khao San road, we took a little rest and then headed out for dinner to a restaurant called Saw Nah Wang (ร้าน ส.หน้าวัง). The main dish to eat at this restaurant is pad mee krached ruam (ผัดหมี่กระเฉดรวม), stir fried rice noodles with water mimosa. They make it so well, and it’s always delicious - especially if you like stir fried noodles, it’s a great dish.
16:34 Saphan Phut Market (สะพานพุทธ) - After going to the floating market in the morning, we decided to continue the Bangkok markets at night and we headed to Saphan Phut Market (สะพานพุทธ), which is a Thai youth clothing and hang out market. The market is always lively at night, and tonight was no different. There’s not a lot to do there, but if you’re interested in Thai youth culture, it’s a good place to visit.
21:00 Pak Khlong Talad (ปากคลองตลาด) - Known in Thai as Pak Khlong Talad (ปากคลองตลาด), or as the flower market Bangkok, it’s a giant flower distribution market that’s open 24 hours a day in Bangkok. But the best time to go is at night, and even the best time in around midnight to 3 am or so when the market is at its busiest. We got there around 10 pm and there were still plenty of flowers to see, and it was a good last stop of the night.
Day 4, visiting Khlong Lat Mayom Floating Market (ตลาดน้ำคลองลัดมะยม) and eating the snakehead fish, as well as visiting a few other local markets in Bangkok, was another fun day in Bangkok.

#2WeeksInBangkok - Day 3: On Day 3 of this video series we first visited Wat Saket (which is known also as the Golden Mount), and then we proceeded on to Loha Prasat. After that we were hungry and went to hear at a Thai rice and curry restaurant at Nang Loeng Market.
00:30 Wat Saket (วัดสระเกศ) - 20 THB ($0.56) - This is a temple not too far from Democracy Monument in Bangkok, and it’s famous as being the Golden Mount, situated on the top of a man-made little hill. One of the highlights of visiting Wat Saket (วัดสระเกศ) when you’re in Bangkok is being able to climb to the top of the staircase (it’s not too tall), and getting a great view of Bangkok from the center of the city.
2:43 Loha Prasat (โลหะปราสาท) - Free - This is another one of the less visited temples in Bangkok, and it’s actually a really interesting temple, also known as the Metal Castle for its shape and design. Just like Wat Saket, you can climb to the top of Loha Prasat (โลหะปราสาท) for another nice view of Bangkok.
4:03 Kluay tod, Man tod (กล้วยทอด มันทอด) - 20 THB ($0.56) - One of the many common Thai street food snacks around Bangkok is deep fried bananas. And walking on our way to lunch we stopped for a bag of deep fried bananas at a very famous place that usually serves them to people in their cars waiting in traffic.
5:56 Nang Loeng Market (ตลาดนางเลิ้ง) and Khao Gaeng Ruttana (ข้าวแกงรัตนา) - We walked over to one of my favorite markets in Bangkok, and although there are plenty of things to choose from to eat, Ying and I both love Khao Gaeng Ruttana (ข้าวแกงรัตนา), the Thai rice and curry restaurant at the market. We got seats, and ordered a number of different dishes. One of the best dishes I had for our meal was hor mok (ห่อหมก), and fish and seafood curry made with Thai curry paste and lots of coconut cream. It was creamy and rich, and so flavorful. At the end of incredible rice and curry meal, I saw them bring out the pan of stink beans and shrimp and had to order it as well - it was outstanding. It’s one of my favorite Thai rice and curry restaurants in Bangkok.
12:50 Nam ponlamai pan (น้ำผลไม้ปั่น) - 35 THB - Located within Nang Loeng Market, there’s an amazing stall that serves some of the finest fruit shakes in Bangkok.
15:09 Marble Temple (วัดเบญจมบพิตร) - 20 THB ($0.56), Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall (พระที่นั่งอนันตสมาคม), Vimanmek Mansion (พระที่นั่งวิมานเมฆ) - After finishing lunch we walked over to Dusit, which is the main government district of Bangkok to do some of the most famous things to do in Bangkok - some of the most well known attractions. Both Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall (พระที่นั่งอนันตสมาคม), Vimanmek Mansion (พระที่นั่งวิมานเมฆ) are worth a visit when you’re in Bangkok and you can get access to both of them using your same entrance ticket as the Grand Palace (so keep your ticket).
18:59 Kuay Teow Neau Nai Soi (ร้านก๋วยเตี๋ยวเนื้อนายโส่ย) - For dinner we came out to a small restaurant that serves Thai beef noodles. I ordered a bowl of kuay teow neua buay pisayt (ก๋วยเตี๋ยวเนื้อเปื่อยพิเศษ), braised beef and noodles. Read more about this restaurant here: http://www.eatingthaifood.com/2015/12/thai-beef-noodles-near-khao-san-road/
21:35 Lookshin Tongchai (ลูกชิ้นธงชัย) - 7 THB ($0.20) per stick - Finally to end the night, we had a couple skewers of some excellent home-made grilled meatballs.

Overnight is a travel and food show for today’s traveler and we’ve been working on this web series for 4 months now. In today’s time hungry world, people want to try and experience so much in so little time. In fact, we discovered that most people travelling around Asia would spend on average 36 to 72 hours in any given capital city. So we decided to the same thing. Overnight will go through 5 large Asian cities (Taipei, Saigon, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok and Seoul) and will attempt to show you what you can do during those precious few hours you have in the metropolis. From drinking, eating, discovering new cultures all the way up to clubbing. Overnight’s got you covered.

Despite having been to Bangkok so many times, QiuQiu had such a different trip with Airbnb this time. Her host Pariya was so sweet; she even cooked up a big feast and invited her for dinner with her friends! She also recommended so many local things to do, like Rod Fai Night Market and Sampeng Market where QiuQiu shopped like crazy!

Bangkok Night Scenes - July 2015
Footage all taken in central Bangkok.
This is a mixture of different clips that didn't make it into any other videos.
For the walking parts these are the ones that were nearly binned due to excessive camera shake. They are not the best because I was very drunk taking them.
The scenes are not in chronological order as they were taken on different days, but they are in area order.
0:09 Siam BTS Station and taking a BTS ride.
1:08 Guay Jab ก๋วยจั๊บ Noodles, on Thonglor Soi 38.
3:08 Closing time for Soi 4 and Nana Plaza, with many taxi drivers refusing customers.
4:28 Walking through the Khaosan Road secret alley, and then around a busy part of Khaosan Road which is ground zero for backpackers.
8:18 Walking in lower Sukhumvit Road near Soi 4.
10:00 Motorbike taxi from Soi Cowboy to Soi 4.
13:22 A long walk from Soi Cowboy towards Soi 4 but this time on the much quieter left side of the road. Someone asked me if I feel safe walking around late at night, this is one of the few walks where it feels dodgy, and that anyone could be lurking in the shadows.

#2WeeksInBangkok - Day 1:
On Day 1 in this Bangkok travel and food guide video series we left our house in Bangkok, and checked into a hotel near Khao San Road in the Banglamphu area of Bangkok, and then had one of the most ridiculously creamy versions of tom yum goong (ต้มยำกุ้ง).
2:09 Lunch - Before doing anything, I had a quick lunch at home, cooked by my mother in law.
3:30 Leaving Home - After a quick lunch, we left our house, and to get to the Khao San Road are we took the BTS skytrain to National Stadium Station, then walked over to the Khlong Saen Saeb canal where we caught the Bangkok canal boat to Phanfa Leelard Pier, which is the final boat station. From there we walked over to Khao San Road, and to our hotel called Full House Khao San, and checked in.
7:31 Tom Yum Goong Banglamphu (ร้านต้มยำกุ้งบางลำพู) - After checking into our hotel, we were pretty hungry again, so we dropped our bags, and then headed off to go to a restaurant called Tom Yum Goong Banglamphu (ร้านต้มยำกุ้งบางลำพู ), it was my first time to eat here and the food was incredible. We ordered two Thai shrimp dishes including tom yum goong (ต้มยำกุ้ง) soup and pla goong (พล่ากุ้ง) which is a shrimp salad. The shrimp were incredibly good, so buttery and so rich and creamy. No sure if it’s the best tom yum goong in Bangkok, but it was definitely one of the best I’ve had and made it to my list of top tom yum in Bangkok. The pla goong (พล่ากุ้ง) was also delicious, nice and sour and spicy. Get more details here: http://www.eatingthaifood.com/2015/11/tom-yum-goong-banglamphu/
13:44 Khao San Road and Rambuttri - After an excellent early dinner we headed off to walk around Khao San Road and the parallel Rambuttri, both of which are the center of backpacking tourism in Bangkok. There are many restaurants, bars, and hostels along the streets. We mostly just took a walk through, and then headed over to Phra Athit Road.
16:49 Park and Chao Phraya River, Suan Santichai (สวนสันติชัย) - After walking through Khao San Road, we headed to the Chao Phraya River, and enjoyed the view from Suan Santichai (สวนสันติชัย). We happen to arrive just as they were doing the evening aerobics, which is always interesting to see, and I also enjoyed the views of the Phra Sumen fort at night.
17:43 Roti Mataba (โรตีมะตะบะ) Restaurant - One of the long standing famous restaurants along Phra Athit road is Roti Mataba (โรตีมะตะบะ) Restaurant. I had been here years ago, so I was happy to eat here again. They specialize mainly in Halal Thai food, specifically curry and roti mataba (stuffed roti). Ying and I had the roti mataba pla (โรตีมะตะบะปลา), roti stuffed with fish, the gaeng kari pla (แกงกะหรี่ปลา), a type of Thai fish curry, and the kiew wan gai (เขียวหวานไก่), green chicken curry. The food overall was a bit on the sweet side, not my favorite, but alright. It was a good way to end a wonderful first day on this Bangkok trip!

#2WeeksInBangkok - Day 2:
Day 2 was a huge day of sightseeing in Bangkok, and we visited many of the most famous attractions in the city starting with the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, and Wat Arun. We also went to one of my favorite Thai street food markets in Bangkok: Wang Lang Market (ตลาดวังหลัง).
00:38 Grand Palace / Wat Phra Kaew (วัดพระแก้ว) - In order to try and beat the main rush, we went to Grand Palace / Wat Phra Kaew (วัดพระแก้ว) early in the morning just after they opened. We still didn’t beat the crowds - it was already crazy busy. But it was still fun, and well worth to go. I had only gone to the Grand Palace Bangkok one previous time, when I first arrived in Bangkok back in 2009, so it was good to go again. Entrance fee is a pretty steep 500 Thai Baht, but at least if you keep your ticket, you can enter a few other attractions within 7 days using the same ticket.
4:48 Tha Phrachan (ท่าพระจันทร์) and Lunch at Ran Loong Lui Restaurant (ร้านลุงหลุย) - After going to the Grand Palace Bangkok, Ying and I were both really hungry so we walked over to Tha Phrachan (ท่าพระจันทร์) and walked down an alley and arrived to a restaurant called Ran Loong Lui Restaurant (ร้านลุงหลุย) that we used to go to years ago. The food was alright, not the best Thai food, but it was a nice place to sit next to the Chao Phraya River.
10:33 Wat Pho (วัดโพธิ์) - We then walked over to Wat Pho (วัดโพธิ์), which is also known as the Temple of the Reclining Buddha. Entrance price is 100 Thai Baht. It had also been a while since I had been to Wat Pho (วัดโพธิ์), and Ying and I walked around for a bit. Wat Pho (วัดโพธิ์) is also home to the original Thai massage.
12:40 Wang Lang Market (ตลาดวังหลัง) - After going to Wat Pho (วัดโพธิ์), we then took the Bangkok river ferry to Wang Lang Market (ตลาดวังหลัง), which is one of the best food markets in central Bangkok. After walking around for a little while, we headed to Som Tam Sida (ส้มตำสีดา) an Isaan food restaurant right within the market. We ordered a bunch of different dishes including tom saeb neua (ต้มแซ่บเนื้อ), Isaan beef soup, som tam boo pla ra (ส้มตำปูปลาร้า) - green papaya salad with fermented fish, soop nawmai (ซุปหน่อไม้) - bamboo shoot salad, yam tua pu (ยำถั่วพู) - winged bean salad, yam makua (ยำมะเขือยาว) - eggplant salad, ;aab pla duk (ลาบปลาดุก) - catfish salad, and finally a plate of sai krok Isaan moo (ไส้กรอกอีสานหมู) - Isaan sausage for good measure. It was a delicious Isaan feast!
24:10 Wat Arun (วัดอรุณ) - From Wang Lang Market (ตลาดวังหลัง) we walked over to Wat Arun (วัดอรุณ), the Temple of Dawn. Unfortunately they were doing some renovation on the temple this time, so I wasn’t able to climb the stairs to the top. Price for entrance is 50 THB ($1.40).
For dinner, I was honestly still quite full from the huge lunch Thai feast at Wang Lang Market, so I just stopped at a quick grilled chicken cart and had a few skewers of grilled chicken and sticky rice for dinner. It was a long day of visiting attractions in Bangkok, but it was a good day.

On Day 2 we first went to the Grand Palace Bangkok and then proceeded on to Wang Lang Market (ตลาดวังหลัง) for a serious Thai feast at Som Tam Sida:

Travel video about destination Bangkok in Thailand.
Bangkok is synonymous with lively chaos but Thailand's great metropolis is also a compelling experience for the senses and a fascinating city full of contrast.
We begin our sightseeing tour early in the morning about 100 kilometres southwest of the city centre at the floating market of Damnoen Saduak. Here, men and women travel on the canals by sampan amid a fertile landscape. Fruit, vegetables, flowers and all manner of goods are available and many of the boats have a kitchen in which fresh food is prepared to satisfy hearty appetites.
Back in the city we visit some of its most important sights, such as the Wat Phra Kaeo, The Temple of the Emerald Buddha, and the most important place of worship for the Thai people. Bangkok's most important landmark is also its most beautiful temple complex, a wonderful work of art comprising numerous splendid buildings.
Today, the Royal Grand Palace is used for national ceremonies and coronations. During the city's early years, it was originally built as a residence for King Rama. The magnificent residence of the former god king shines out in all the typical splendor and elegance of the Far East, a Siamese heaven on Earth!
In the 19th century, Bangkok contained several canals known as 'Klongs' and most of them have subsequently been replaced with streets but a few have survived. Traveling on the canals is a wonderful way to take in the sights and for centuries, life on the city's waterways has changed very little.
Bangkok is a typical Asian city with much exotic hustle, bustle and excitement. It is truly a city that never sleeps!

GETTING AROUND:
Getting around the city of Bangkok is an adventure itself. A relaxed way to explore the city is via the BTS train network but riding a tuktuk on the streets of Bangkok is an authentic Thai experience you should try.
ATTRACTIONS:
There are numerous floating markets in Bangkok but tucked just some 100 kilometers away from the city center is the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. A trip to this market is a fascinating insight of the rich Thai life and culture.
Learn more about world history as you spend a day exploring the gigantic prang (towers) and monuments in Ayutthaya. This popular tourist destination which is favorably situated at the head of the Gulf of Siamis considered as one of Asia's most successful trading capitals.
EAT, SHOP, AND PARTY:
A trip to Bangkok is not complete without a taste of the city's street food. Choose among the variety of options like noodles, soups, green papaya salads, and many more! Mark Wiens visits Phetchaburi Soi Ten to dig into a sweet and savory snack called khanom kro (coconut griddle cake).
Itching to experience the Bangkok's nightlife? Head over to Khaosan Road for a night to bar hopping and dance parties.
Bangkok is also known for its wide selection of retail products. For a unique shopping experience, swing by the Patpong Night Market for souvenirs, clothes, and housewares.

* Phetchaburi Soi Ten

When you tour Bangkok, you’re immersing yourself in a city of contrasts. From its homage to ancient cultures to the ultra-modern skyscrapers that line the downtown area, you’ll soon discover why this lively metropolis wins so many “World’s Best City” awards from various publications. Some claim, it’s the perfect mixture of food, friendly citizens, shopping, and things to do.
Step into Krung Thep, or The City of Angels, and let your adventure begin. You might be confused when you first arrive; where, exactly, are these angels? But a close look at the smiling people will soon make it obvious. You can see more of this care and attention to detail in the many temples that dot the city’s landscape, as well as their daily lives. Thai arts and crafts are indicative of this…especially their culinary art.
If you’re visiting Bangkok for the food, you’re in good company. Did you know there are 50,000+ places to eat in Bangkok alone? Whether you’re here for five-star dining or a funky little café, you’ll find all kinds of gastronomical delights when you arrive. But here’s a secret: head down to the streets instead of the restaurants. The street food is a bargain, and praised by locals and visitors alike.
If you’re not eating or relaxing, you’re probably shopping. Sightseeing in Bangkok always includes some sort of purchasing spree, whether it’s clothing, crafts, artwork, or that perfect piece of furniture for your living room.
Don’t think you have to head to bed just because the sun has gone down. The nightlife here is hopping with clubs, glowing lights, and river cruises.

http://bookinghunter.com
Bangkok is the capital and the most populous city of Thailand. The city occupies 1,568.7 square kilometres (605.7 sq mi) in the Chao Phraya River delta in Central Thailand, and has a population of over eight million, or 12.6 percent of the country's population. Over fourteen million people (22.2 percent) live within the surrounding Bangkok Metropolitan Region, making Bangkok an extreme primate city, dwarfing Thailand's other urban centres in terms of importance.
The most important places to visit in Bangkok are: Wat Arun (Bangkok has one of the greatest collections of temples in the world. This Buddhist temple, also known as "Temple of the Dawn" is quite spectacular), Lumpini Park (Bangkok is a massive city; Lumpini Park offers an excellent escape from the city's hustle and bustle. You can just relax or engage in an activity), Wat Pho (it is said to be the largest and oldest Buddhist temple in Bangkok. An extremely large statue of a reclining Buddha is a big draw), Floating Market (truly a unique experience where many vendors prepare food right on their tiny boats. You will find a festive atmosphere along with delicious food), Wat Traimit (another famous temple in Bangkok, it is located close to China Town and is known as also known as the "The Temple of the Golden Buddha"), Vimanmek Palace (this magnificent former royal palace is the world's largest golden teak wood mansion), Chinatown (a colorful area with many interesting shop and of course fantastic Chinese food), Ayutthaya (located outside of Bangkok, this ancient city was founded over 600 years ago. Amidst the remaining temple structures, you can relive its history), Chatuchak (believed to be the largest market in Thailand, the exciting market has literally thousands of stalls and tens of thousands of daily visitors), Grand Palace (constructed in the 18th century, undoubtedly it is the most popular attraction of Bangkok and a must see for anyone visiting this city) and many more.
If you want to save time and money, the most important Bangkok travel tip is to compare prices before booking a hotel room or a flight. You can do this for free on http://bookinghunter.com, a site that searches through hundreds of other travel websites in real time for the best travel deals available.

Houses standing on piles in the water of the canals, the floating market and temples with their glistening mosaics are all living memories from the past, but the skyscrapers standing on the bank of Cho Praya and the luxury cars speeding on the highway are all forerunners of the new century. Old and new, rich and poor, backwards and ultra modern; Bangkok is a place of controversies. In the buzzing of the 8 million metropolis the Royal Palace and the buddhist monasteries are the islands of peace and silence. One can see a 5 and a half ton Buddha statue, temples covered with marble, mirrors and gold, and relics each more beautiful than the previous one. We can take a trip from Bangkok to the ruins of the ancient capital of Ayutthaya, the famous bridge of the River Kwai, but the beaches of Pattaya are not far either.

Bangkok became the capital of Siam, the name Thailand is called in the early days, in 1782, when King Buddha Yodfa Chulaloke succeeded Ayutthaya King Taksin. He moved the capital to the eastern bank of the Chao Phraya River and Bangkok has since undergone changes and grew rapidly to become Thailand's primate city.
Here's your essential Bangkok Travel Guide this May 2015 - our host Bruna Silva, plus special guest and food expert Mark Wiens, tour us around the best places to eat, drink, shop, and play in Bangkok!
Getting around the city of Bangkok is an adventure itself. A relaxed way to explore the city is via the BTS train network but riding a tuktuk on the streets of Bangkok is an authentic Thai experience you should try.
Learn more about world history as you spend a day exploring the gigantic prang (towers) and monuments in Ayutthaya. This popular tourist destination which is favorably situated at the head of the Gulf of Siamis is considered as one of Asia's most successful trading capitals.
While in Bangkok, make sure you also check out:
* Damnoen Saduak Floating Market
* Lumphini Park
* Wat Phra Kaeo
* Bangkok National Museum
* Khaosan Road
* Patpong Night Market

Dubbed the “Bangkok Hilton” by the West, Thailand’s Bangkwang jail is one of the most notorious prisons in the world.
Until now, the reality of life in Bangkwang has remained a secret. But after two years of negotiations between the BBC and Thai officials – and for the first time ever – television cameras were allowed inside.The film tells the human stories of prisoners struggling to stay sane in the jail’s cramped conditions, and the Thai staff struggling to cope with the ever-increasing number of inmates.
The Real Bangkok Hilton brought in incredible audiences for the BBC, with an average of some 5 million people tuning in to the program for the premier, double the usual audience figures for the series.
