Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps says the ten American sailors, apprehended after entering the Iranian territorial waters on two combat vessels, are likely to be released soon.
Commander of the IRGC’s Navy Brigadier General Ali Fadawi said the vessels entered Iran’s waters because their navigation systems had broken down. He further said after the ten sailors were arrested and their vessels seized, a U-S aircraft carrier got engaged in some aerial and marine movements, which were neutralized by IRGC’s prompt action. Fadawi added that the American sailors acted unprofessionally after the arrest. The commander further quoted Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif as saying that the US should apologize for the vessels’ encroachment upon Iran’s territorial waters.

Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps says it has held two US naval boats after they entered the country’s territorial waters in the Persian Gulf.
The IRGC says the American vessels were stopped near Iran’s Farsi island in the Persian Gulf and were transferred to the island. The Pentagon says Washington has received assurances from officials in Tehran that the vessels and the sailors will be released soon. The White House also expressed optimism and said it was working to resolve the situation and get the personnel returned. US officials also said Secretary of State John Kerry called his Iranian counterpart Mohammed Javad Zarif over the incident.

An exiled Iranian opposition group on Friday welcomed new sanctions imposed against Iran by the Bush administration.
Alireza Jafarzadeh, from the Paris-based National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), said the sweeping sanctions will harm the revolutionary guards significant financial resources. "It puts the squeeze on them (and) makes life difficult for them," he said.
"It also further weakens and demoralises the revolutionary guards making them very vulnerable to the rising discontent of the Iranian population," he added.
The new sanctions are the broadest US unilateral penalties on Iran since the takeover of the American Embassy in 1979.
Washington announced new sanctions on Thursday targeting the Revolutionary Guards, which the US Accuses of supporting terrorism by backing Shiite militants in Iraq.
The sanctions ban US dealings with the extensive network of businesses believed linked to the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and put stepped-up pressure on international banks to cut any ties with those firms.
The NCRI has long been critical of European Union talks to convince Iran not to build nuclear weapons.
Jafarzadeh claimed that tighter US sanctions imposed on Iran would lead to an acceleration of its alleged nuclear programme.
"We see a significant speed-up in the process of moving the (nuclear) programme forward. That is a clear indication that they are a lot closer to the finish line than many people have thought," he said.
However, Mohammad Mohaddesin said the NCRI would not favour military action, regardless of whether Iran was closer to producing a nuclear weapon.
"We are not in favour of military operation, foreign military invasion, (or) foreign military interfering in Iran and we think it is not the solution for the Iranian problem. As well as the appeasement policy is not the solution," he said.
The NCRI is the political wing of the People's Mujahedeen of Iran, an opposition group founded by students at Tehran University in the 1960s.
The Mujahedeen advocates the overthrow of Iran's government and regards itself as legitimate opposition to the hard-line clerical regime in Tehran.

February 25, 2015 - Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps has launched a massive military drill in the country’s south.
The Great Prophet Nine maneuvers are being held in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz. The first stage of the drills demonstrates naval drill tactics. Hundreds of I-R-G-C speed boats, equipped with missile launchers, have taken part in the drills. The assault boats conducted sea mining maneuvers. Four shore-to-sea cruise missiles were fired at mock enemy targets and a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier was targeted as part of the drills. A number of high-ranking officials, including the Commander of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, were present at the site of the drills. Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari says the maneuvers aim to provide security for the region.

On Wednesday, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps destroyed a replica of a United States aircraft carrier. The Iranian military group targeted the replica during a military drill near the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian state television showed footage of missiles striking the vessel. The missiles were fired from speedboats and from the coast. This was Iran’s first time to include a replica of a U.S. aircraft carrier in its military drills. The exercises also included shooting down a drone and planting undersea mines.
The Strait of Hormuz sees one fifth of the world’s seaborne oil transports. The Iranian Army also carried out naval drills near the strait in December.
Iran is currently negotiating a deal over its nuclear program with the U.S. and five other world powers. The U.S. had made many concessions to Iran, yet Wednesday’s military drill proves Iran’s hostile attitude toward the U.S. This is a strong indication of what Iran will do when it gains the military capabilities it seeks.

Akbar Ganji, called by some "Iran's most famous dissident," was a commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. But, troubled by the regime's repressive nature, he became an investigative journalist in the 1990s, writing for Iran's pro-democracy newspapers. Most notably, he traced the murders of dissident intellectuals to Iran's secret service. In 2000 Ganji was arrested, sentenced to six years in prison, and banned from working as a journalist. His eighty-day hunger strike during his last year in prison mobilized the international human rights community.
The Road to Democracy in Iran, Ganji's first book in English, demonstrates his lifelong commitment to human rights and democracy. A passionate call for universal human rights and the right to democracy from a Muslim perspective, it lays out the goals and means of Iran's democracy movement, why women's rights trump some interpretations of Islamic law, and how the West can help promote democracy in Iran (he strongly opposes U.S. intervention) and other Islamic countries.
Abbas Milani serves as Ganji's translator.

Iranian Armed Forces have begun a major parade to mark the 33rd anniversary of eight years of defense against Iraqi invasion under executed dictator Saddam Hussein.
The opening ceremony of the 'Sacred Defense Week' started on Sunday at the mausoleum of the founder of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.
The latest military and defensive achievements of the country's Armed Forces will be displayed during the parade.
Iran's President Hassan Rouhani is scheduled to deliver a speech during the ceremony.
Among the high-ranking Iranian military officials present at the ceremony are Chief of Staff of Iran's Armed Forces Major General Hassan Firouzabadi, Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan, Commander of Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari and Commander of Iran's Army Major General Ataollah Salehi.

Israel's countdown to a Nuclear Iran: Can and will Jerusalem strike?

There is no international consensus on how close Iran is to having a usable nuclear weapon. Attempts by the IAEA inspectors to visit a key site in Iran recently were re-buffed again, leaving the inspectors disappointed and unclear on Iran's capability.
Israel's prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and his defence minister, Ehud Barak, a former prime minister, believe the time for action is almost nigh. A view Iran's president, Mahmoud Ahmedinejad, has done nothing to detract from.
Contrary to this, former Mossad chief Meir Dagan and former chief of staff Gabi Ashkenazi assert that the threat is not as immediate. Independent commentators, like Stratfor's George Friedman, argue that Iran does not yet have a nuclear weapon, but even without one, the country is moving to a situation where it is the strongest power in the Persian Gulf. Dr Friedman and Stratfor chief analyst Robert Kaplan discuss the prospects of an attack with NSW president Colin Chapman in a special video.
But Mr Barak recently told the New York Times, "this is not about some abstract concept, but a genuine concern. The Iranians are, after all, a nation whose leaders have set themselves a strategic goal of wiping Israel off the map".
The New York Times magazine published a seminal article Israel v Iran, posing the question: "Will Israel attack Iran?"
The Financial Times columnist Philip Stephens has urged all sides not to 'play politics with the bomb'.
To discuss this timely and controversial issue the AIIA NSW welcomed an authority on the Israeli-Iran dispute. Dr Emanuele Ottolenghi (Senior fellow of the US-based Foundation for the Defence of Democracies). Dr Ottolenghi has advised several foreign ministries in Europe, and testified before the Canadian and European parliaments.
This is the first of two AIIA NSW evenings on the growing power of Iran. This week focusses on the nuclear issue; next week our attention shifts to Tehran's potential hegemony in the Persian Gulf.
Dr Ottolenghi's areas of expertise are: Israel (domestic politics, constitutional issues, political trends, elections), the Arab-Israeli conflict, Iran, terrorism and security issues, EU Middle East foreign policy and Transatlantic relations. He has done extensive research exposing the connections between Iran's energy companies and its Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Dr Ottolenghi has published The Pasdaran: Inside Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and is author ofIran: The Looming Crisis -- Can the West Live with Iran's Nuclear Threat? Dr Ottolenghi has written widely in the international media, including The Wall Street Journal, Newsday, Foreign Affairs, Commentary, and The Guardian. Previously, he headed the Transatlantic Institute in Brussels, where he lives and has attained his Ph.D. in political theory at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Quneitra, the Triangle of Fire (Syria’s resistance against terrorism and Zionism)
Violent clashes erupted in Syria in 2011 have found their way to the southwestern strategic Syrian city of Quneitra. A triangle of fire, the flames of which have spread through the east and south of Damascus, Lebanese borders and Mount Hermon.
The flames of fire in Quneitra are fanned by the Israeli regime that fully supports the al-Nusra Front terrorist group in waging an all-out war on the Syrian government.
Quneitra, the Triangle of Fire is the story of resistance of the Syrian army, members of the Lebanese resistance movement, Hezbollah, and Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) against terrorism and Zionism.

An Iranian deputy foreign minister says Zionist entity officials should expect consequences of their actions, including the recent attack on a Hezbollah convoy in Syria’s Golan Heights.
Zionist entity has fired artillery rounds into the Syrian side of the Golan Heights, claiming the assault was a response to several rocket attacks that earlier targeted the Zionist entity-occupied part of the territory.
Lieutenant-Colonel Peter Lerner, an Zionist entity military spokesman, said Tuesday that the regime forces had attacked some positions inside the Syrian territory, which were allegedly used earlier in the day to target some areas in the occupied part of Golan.
Zionist entity “responded with artillery towards the positions that launched the attack,” Lerner wrote on his Twitter account.
Zionist entity media said earlier on Tuesday that the military had evacuated a sport resort close to the Syrian border, while sirens also sounded in several towns and villages in the area. No casualties have been reported in the occupied territories.
The incident comes days after an Zionist helicopter fired rockets on a Hezbollah convoy in the Golan Heights town of Qunaitra on January 17, killing six members of the Lebanese resistance group and an Iranian commander.
The Golan Heights have been under the Zionist entity occupation since the 1960s. The Zionist entity captured the Syrian territory during the Six-Day War of 1967 and annexed the region in 1981.
A silly move
On Tuesday, Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem once again slammed the January 17 assault against the Syrian soil, adding that the regime once again failed to undermine the Lebanese resistance group through the deadly air raid.
Qassem described the recent attack as a “step back” and a “silly move,” saying the new act of aggression proved the Zionist entity regime is cooperating with the Takfiri elements operating against the Syrian government.
The January 18 attack in Quneitra has sparked fears within Zionist entity of Hezbollah’s possible retaliation.
Zionist entity media have reported over the past days that the regime is closely monitoring the movements close to the Lebanese border and in the occupied Golan Heights.
The Zionist military has installed concrete blocks on Lebanon’s border, while the roads near the area are mostly closed.
The Zionist regime’s air force is also on high alert and the batteries of the so-called Iron Dome missile system have already been stationed in the north of the occupied territories.
Hezbollah and Iran have vowed that their response to the attack would be extremely painful.
Senior commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Hossein Salami said last week that Zionist entity should brace for “a special retaliation” in response for the attack in Golan Heights.
IRGC Commander Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari also warned Israel on January 20 that the Zionist entity “should await annihilating thunderbolts.”
On Sunday, Zionist Minister for Foreign Affairs Avigdor Lieberman traveled to Russia, where he expressed Tel Aviv’s deep concerns about any potential retaliation by Hezbollah and Iran.
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian added that following the attack, Iranian officials sent a message to US.

Because there are no formal diplomatic relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America instead of exchanging ambassadors, Iran maintains an interests section at the Pakistani Embassy in Washington, D.C., while the United States has maintained a corresponding interests section at the Swiss Embassy in Tehran (since 1980). Since December 2011, the United States has also maintained a virtual embassy on-line.
Relations between the two nations began in the mid-to-late nineteenth century. Initially, while Iran was very wary of British and Russian colonial interests during the Great Game, the United States was seen as a more trustworthy Western power, and the Americans Arthur Millspaugh and Morgan Shuster were even appointed treasurers-general by the Shahs of the time. During World War II, Iran was invaded by the United Kingdom and the Soviet Union, both US allies, but relations continued to be positive after the war until the later years of the government of Mohammad Mossadeq, who was overthrown by a coup organized by the Central Intelligence Agency and aided by the MI6. Hannity (12-7-2015) Hannity HEATED DISCUSSION on Islamic immigration & Donald Trump Muslim Ban

His campaign has clarified that this would apply to "everybody," mentioning in particular Muslims entering the US as immigrants or tourists. Presumably, "everyone" also includes people entering on temporary work or student visas. It also, as his campaign later clarified, means that Muslim-American citizens who are currently traveling abroad would be prevented from reentering the US (something that has already happened in isolated cases, though not deliberately, to citizens placed on the no-fly list).
