Remarkable 1938 drama featuring an incredible ensemble cast as follows: Paulette Goddard (Modern Times), Luise Rainer (The Great Ziefield), Lana Turner (The Postman Always Rings Twice), Henry Stephenson (The Charge Of The Light Brigade), Gale Sondergaard (The Cat And The Canary), Melville Cooper (The Adventures Of Robin Hood), Virginia Grey (Another Thin Man), Ann Rutherford (Gone With The Wind) and Hans Conried (The Red Skelton Hour & Walt Disney’s Wonderful World Of Color). The movie takes place in a prestigious acting school located in Paris, France. It reminds me of the same type of setting – such as the Broadway based movie “Stage Door” – in which we see the characters fighting and clawing their way as they try to rise to the top of their performing field. We see jealousy, treachery, and with one, eventual redemption from these wicked ways. This movie is very rare, appearing on non-commercial network channels only once every so many years. It is very likely that many of you will be watching this movie for the very first time. I came across this movie only a few years ago and am very excited to be sharing with you now. With all my frustrations of having You Tube pull many of my movies off of my channel, this one seems to have cleared their standards & rules, so I am indeed grateful to be activating the film today. As many of you are aware, my main goal of hosting a You Tube channel is to present rare, hard to find movies. I trust that this gem of a movie will indeed help me reach and even surpass those expectations. By the way, although this movie was released way back in 1938, actress Ann Rutherford died only three years ago (2012) and Luise Rainer died only last year (2014).
