I'd like to share something very personal and very special with you all, some of my innermost thoughts and feelings. I hope it gives you an insight into my life and my world as we all travel down this exciting pathway called 'life.' I have worked as a land surveyor for the last 32 years enjoying every minute of it, but my passion and my love has always been Astronomy. Like you I guess, I just get lost in the stars! Back in June 2008 (when the economy crashed here in America) I lost my job. Since then I've been working odd jobs, just barely getting by and trying to keep my head above water. One night in August 2011 I was out on the front porch with my 5 inch refractor, just sweeping the sky, looking at whatever I could find through my 20mm window on the Universe. I glanced sideways and noticed this huge full moon rising above the horizon. Fantastic! I rushed to get my digital camera and decided to try a few shots. I got carried away, I was mesmerised. Throughout the night I must have taken over 50 images through my telescope before heading downstairs to download them on my computer. Quickly scanning through my collection I found one that was just spectacular. I just looked and looked and stared at that image for hours! The next morning I got up, downed a hurried breakfast and turned on my computer to look at my image of the moon again. What!! I took this? I was chuffed, it was beautiful. The image took me back to when I was 7 years old, looking through my first telescope. It opened up a whole new world for me and set me on a path that's taken me to where I am today, an adult, but still with that irrepressible 'little kid' sense of curiosity and wonderment. I was stoked at what I could see with such a small scope. I glimpsed the Universe, and I wanted more! A few days later I looked at the image of the moon again and a crazy thought crossed my mind...could I make a video of the solar system? Without hesitation I checked NASA's website and started looking at all the images of planets, moons and asteroids. Then it hit me, I could actually do this if I again found the right attitude from the same little boy that once challenged the Universe to give up its secrets with his 4.5 inch reflector. Putting the video together was a challenge to say the least. I was considering everything, thinking of this and thinking of that. I wanted it to be perfect. Overnight, my mind raced like it always does when you've got big plans. The next day I turned my computer on to view the video again, and hated it! I was devastated! All those hours of work, all that effort... and for what? Then I saw the problem, it was too cluttered. Excessive captioning, naming the planets, their sizes and the distance from the Sun was just too much. All my focus was on the text and not the beauty of the planets. So I went back and literally spent hours removing all the text and captioning. On review it suddenly came alive! This was what I was striving for - but it needed a music bed. More hours pouring over countless music tracks I've heard over the years produced the haunting "New Sight" from Star Trek Insurrection by Jerry Goldsmith. It was perfect, I loved it! After tweaking the video to fit the mood of the music, I began reviewing it. I played it over and over, for hours, before telling myself the young 7 year old boy in me could at last get some sleep. Before retiring I posted it on YouTube in the hope someone else might enjoy it. The next morning I got up to get some coffee and turned on YouTube to take a look. Wow! Am I seeing right? My video had over 2,000 views on it ...and over a hundred comments! Did I do this? I was in shock and overwhelmed, I just couldn't believe it. A few days later a teacher from South Korea sent me a text asking if she could share it with her students. I thought of the number of children in that class who were going to see it. My video! Folks, I broke down and cried that day. My dream and my passion for astronomy as a 7 year old boy was now coming alive in others. Since that moment I've received thousands upon thousands of emails from teachers, planetariums and others around the world thanking me for making the video and sharing it with them. Most of you may not know this but I have not made a single penny from this video, not one cent! I didn't want to, I just wanted to share it. Friends, I've gained so much joy and happiness knowing I have touched so many souls with my dream about science and astronomy, just like that 7 year old boy of so many years ago. It's spurned me on to do more so I'll be back for sure. I don't think it'll be too long to wait.

Strange things are happening in both outer and inner space scientists are discovering that the Solar System, the sun, and life itself are mutating in totally unprecedented ways. They are reporting changes that are being recorded in space that have never been seen before Studies show that the Sun and the planets themselves are physically changing at an accelerated pace. Most notably, they are undergoing major changesin their atmospheres. Let's begin with the Sun. The Sun is the center of our Solar System, and all life that is on this Earth came from the Sun. If there were no Sun, we would not be alive. This is simply scientific fact. And so any changes that occur in or on the Sun will eventually affect every person alive. We know that the Sun's magnetic field has changed in the last 100 years. There's a study by Dr. Mike Lockwood from Rutherford Appleton National Laboratories, in California. Dr. Lockwood has been investigating the Sun, and reports that since 1901 the overall magnetic field of the Sun has become stronger by 230 percent. Moon: Earth's moon is growing an atmosphere . Around the moon, there is this 6,000- kilometre- deep layer of Natrium that wasn't there before. Mercury: Unexpected polar ice discovered, along with a surprisingly strong intrinsic magnetic field. Venus: 2500% increase in auroral brightness, and substantive global atmospheric changes in less than 40 years. Mars: “Global Warming,” huge storms, disappearance of polar icecaps. Jupiter: Over 200% increase in brightness of surrounding plasma clouds.(Huge belts in the giant planet's atmosphere have changed color, radiation hotspots have faded and flared up again, and cloud levels have thickened and dissolved, all while space rocks have been hurtling into it the gas giant.) Saturn: Major decrease in equatorial jet stream velocities in only ~30 years, accompanied by surprising surge of X-rays from equator. Uranus: Big changes in brightness, increased global cloud activity (This planet used to have a very calm atmosphere. ) Neptune: 40% increase in atmospheric brightness. Pluto: 300% increase in atmospheric pressure, even as Pluto recedes farther from the Sun. Earth: Substantial and obvious world-wide weather and geophysical changes. Earth's Axis has changed. On Earth, the overall volcanic activity increased 500 percent from 1875 to 1975, while the earthquake activity has increased by 400 percent since 1973. Dr. Dmitriev says that comparing the years 1963 to 1993, the overall number of natural disasters — hurricanes, typhoons, mud slides, tidal waves, etc. — has increased by 410 percent. The Earth's magnetic field has been decreasing. This decrease actually began 2000 years ago, but the rate of decrease suddenly became much more rapid 500 years ago. Planets in our solar system | Sun and solar system | Solar System for children | elearnin The Solar System consists of the Sun and its planetary system of eight planets, their moons, and other objects including asteroids and meteors. Our planet Earth is one among the eight planets that revolve around the Sun. It's called solar system because the word solar means relating to the sun. Since Sun is the centre most part of this system, it is called solar system. Objects seem to smaller in size when seen from a great distance but are very huge and large in reality. Similarly, the moon and stars are very big and huge in size, but appear to be smaller in size to our eyes because they are very very far away from the Earth, where we live. The distance between the objects in the solar system is so large that these numbers would run into millions and billions of kms. Hence they are measured with a specific unit called light year. One light year is exactly 9460730472580800 mts. Sun is 149,600,000 km away from earth. Sun is very far from the Earth. That is the reason why sun looks smaller in size. Solar system is the family of the sun. Sun is very big compared to the moon, probably around 400 times bigger. Sun is also a star but, remember, it's not the biggest star in the Universe. There are lots of stars present in the universe which are very far away from the sun, some of them about thousands of light years away. That is why stars look like dots in the night sky. Sun is like a ball of fire. The sunlight from the sun takes about 8.5 minutes to reach the surface of the earth. Sun is the center of the solar system and all the planets revolve around the sun in orbits. Orbit is a curved path of an object around a point in space. Orbit means moving around in Roman. Earth is one of the planets in the solar system and takes exactly 365.25 days to revolve around the sun. Earth also rotates around its own axis in 24 hours or 1 day. Just like Earth every planet rotates on its own axis and revolves around the Sun. Mercury: Mercury is the smallest of all planets, it is every hot as it is the closest to the sun, hence no living being can live on this planet. Mercury was named after a roman god Mercury who is the fast flying messenger. Mercury takes only 88 days to revolve around the sun, which makes it the fastest revolving planet around the sun. Venus: Venus is the second closest planet to the Sun. Venus is visible in morning and evening as the brightest star from earth. Venus takes about 244.7 days to orbit around the sun and is named after the roman goddess of love and beauty. Earth: Our planet Earth is the third closest planet to the Sun. It is blue in color as there is lot of water present on the surface of earth. Water constitutes to about 70% of entire surface on the earth. Unlike Earth, moon is not a planet. It is a natural satellite of earth and it revolves around the earth. Satellite is a smaller body which rotates around another rotating body. Earth is the only planet which has animals, trees and human beings. Mars: Mars is called the red planet because it's red in color. This red color is due to the presence of a chemical called iron oxide. Mars is named after the roman god of war. It two moons that in turn revolve around it. Jupiter: Jupiter is the biggest and largest planet of the solar system and is named after roman god Jupiter. Jupiter is 317 times the mass of Earth. Jupiter may have all the rocky core of the heavier elements making it the biggest and the heaviest planet. Outer atmosphere of Jupiter is divided into several bands at different latitudes, resulting in storms. Jupiter has around 67 moons revolving around it. These are natural satellites of Jupiter. Saturn: Saturn is the only planet has rings around it. Saturn is named after the roman god for agriculture. Saturn has just over 95 times mass as compared to the earth. The rings around the Saturn are mostly composed of the ice particles and some rocky debris and some dust. Saturn has around 62 moons revolving around it. Uranus: Uranus is similar to Neptune and is named after the Greek god of sky Ouranos. It has around 27 natural satellites revolving around it. The Uranus is a unique as compared to the other planets because of the fact that its axis of rotation is tilted sideways unlike the other planets. Its looks bluish-green in color because the atmosphere of Uranus is very cold and cloudy. Neptune: This is the farthest planet from the sun. It is about 17 times the size of earth. Neptune is light blue in color because it is the coldest of all planets. Neptune is the densest of all planets. It is named after the roman god for sea. There was another planetary object called Pluto which was the 9th planet but is no more considered a planet because Pluto and its moons are now considered to be a region.This region extends from the orbit of Neptune.
