Things to do in Germany | Top Attractions Travel Guide Germany was a country we fell in love with. Having spent a lot of time in SE Asia, we felt the need for a change of pace and Germany was just that. From urban hubs like Berlin to hidden gems like Freiburg, Germany offers a lot for those willing to explore and dig a little deeper. We start off our top attractions travel guide to Germany by focusing on Berlin. Below are the top 25 things to consider doing in the city: 1) Berlin Wall - East Side Gallery 2) Brandenburg Gate 3) Tiergarten 4) MauerPark Flohmarkt (MauerPark Flea Market) 5) Friedrichshain 6) Currywurst 7) Reichstag building 8) Tempelhof 9) Museum Island 10) Holocaust Memorial 11) Charlottenburg Palace 12) Checkpoint Charlie 13) Alexanderplatz - Berlin TV Tower 14) Ritter Sport 15) Berlin Cathedral 16) Currywurst Museum 17) Ride a Bike 18) Spree river boat tour 19) Wurst sausage 20) Friedrichshain Flohmarkt (flea market) 21) German Breakfast 22) Cat Cafe 23) Schnitzel and Spaetzle 24) U-bahn and S-bahn 25) Turkish Food Recently we had the opportunity to visit Europa-Park, the largest theme park in Germany and second most popular theme resort in all of Europe. This was the perfect opportunity for us to rekindle our childhood passion for rides. With over eleven different roller coasters alone we quickly realized we had never been to such a big theme park. What we found cool was that the theme park was divided into different European countries. If you can't visit all of Europe going to Europa Park is like getting little slivers of it all. Accommodating up to 50,000 guests per day, we were fortunate we didn't come during peak season; however, it was still crowded. Overall, the weather was perfect, the rides were fun and it is an experience we won't forget anytime soon. This is a bit of a surprise. We have an eight hour wait for a flight in Frankfurt, so instead of just hanging around in the airport, which was our original plan, we decided to drop our bags off and come into the city. That pretty much wraps up our little visit to Frankfurt. We spent maybe three or four hours just walking around and it was really nice to just see the city without much of an agenda. I came here with quite low expectations to be perfectly honest. I had heard more or less this is just a financial hub but it ended up being quite charming here in Frankfurt and I'm definitely going to miss Germany. I've had a wonderful time traveling around the country. We aren't having much luck with the weather today. It is really rainy here in Freiburg. It is Easter weekend but we are out an exploring and we want to show you the city. Let's go have a tour. One of my first impressions of Freiburg is that it is such a great city to walk around in. That's all we've been doing so far. It's very picturesque. There are cobbled streets and it is also very historic. Thankfully, the weather has shifted dramatically for the better. Earlier we had been rained out, so we had to head back into the hotel because it was cold and windy. Now we're seeing a few patches of blue skies, so we're going to keep exploring around Freiburg. This is part of our Travel in Germany series. We're making a series of videos showcasing German culture, German arts, German foods, German religion and German people. http://www.woltersworld.com This is always a controversial topic in any travel site. But I want to say these are my opinions and there are literally dozens of other towns in Germany worth visiting. I have visited approximately 80 cities and towns in Germany for tourism and these are my ten favorite to visit. Please feel free to comment on your favorites. These are in no particular order. 1. Quedlinburg. This UNESCO World Heritage town is chock full of half timbered houses (Fachwerk), a nice castle, very few tourists, and one of the prettiest quaintest Christmas markets in Germany. It is my favorite town in Germany. 2. Berlin. The capital, from History (Berlin Wall), to Museums (Museum Island), to Palaces (Charlottenberg), to eating and drinking (Kreuzburg). The city has it all. 3. Munich. There is a reason why all those tourists flock to Munich, not just for Oktoberfest. The Residenz Museum, Englisch Garten, Deutsches Museum and so much more. And do not forget about the beer. 4. Dresden. This Saxon jewel still has many of the treasures its kings have left it, and some rebuilt gems like the Frauenkirche. And if you like gems and precious stones, check out the Green Vault. 5. Bamberg. The home of Rauchbier (smoked beer that tastes like bacon), an amazing city center that has not been ravaged by war, and one of the coolest town halls (Rathaus) in Germany. 6. Luebeck. This gem just north of Hamburg has Marzipan and beautiful city gates to charm anyone. 7. Goerlitz. A bit off the beaten trail, but I love its non-war-ravaged old town and almost ghost town feel in the center. Not to mention a quick hop over to Poland on the pedestrian bridge. 8. Rothenburg ob der Tauber. THE middle age looking town in Germany. It looks like it came straight out of a fairy tale. You can even walk the town walls and enjoy so much more. 9. Cochem and the Moselle River Valley. Germany is famous for beer, but they also make great white wine. Cochem is a quaint town on the Moselle with a city castle as well as easy access to the vineyards and the amazing Burg Eltz. 10. Konstanz. On the beautiful Lake Constance or Bodensee, this town gives you more than just Town Hall and City Museum, here you can enjoy the water sports that living on this beautiful lake affords you. So go enjoy Germany and I hope these cities make your list. And if you have other towns you like, please comment below!

http://bookinghunter.com Berlin is the capital city of Germany and one of the 16 states of Germany. Berlin is situated in northeastern Germany. The most important places to visit in Berlin are: Checkpoint Charlie (its name was given for the Berlin Wall crossing point between East and West Berlin during the Cold War), Berlin city hall (built in Italian Renaissance style, its construction lasted from 1861 to 1869. Along with the State Government of Berlin it is also the office of the city's Governing Mayor), The Potsdam Castle (located about 15 miles outside of Berlin, the castle is a gorgeous masterpiece nestled amidst vineyards. This lovely structure is so exquisite that it is often regarded as the German equivalent of The Palace of Versailles), Reichstag (the seat of German Parliament. Built in 1894, it housed the Parliament of the German Empire and the Weimar Republic. In 1933, a suspicious fire in the Reichstag propelled the Nazi regime to power), The Holocaust Memorial (is a tribute to the millions of Jews killed by the Nazi government. It consists of 2007 stone slabs spread over an area the size of three soccer fields), Museum Island (located in the center of Berlin on the river Spree, it has many world-renowned museums. Due to the art and history that is preserved here, the island is a UNESCO Heritage Site), Brandenburg gate (completed in 1791, this gate is a symbol of Germany. After World War II, the gate was one of the 8 checkpoints between East and West Berlin), Berlin Cathedral (centuries old, this historic landmark has been treasured by all of Germany. Several grand domes adorn the top of the cathedral. Its striking beauty makes the trip worthwhile), Charlottenburg Palace (Berlin's largest royal summer palace. Constructed in the late 17th century. this large, ornate landmark houses a 200-year-old mausoleum that served as a royal burial ground) and many more. This video offers a lot of tips to help you plan the perfect vacation. If you want to save time and money, the most important Berlin travel tip is to compare prices before booking a hotel room or a flight. For more information on the top 10 tourism attractions in Berlin, read the description below. Subscribe & share with your friends! 1. Built in the late 1700s, the Brandenburg gate is the only surviving city gate of Berlin. The gate is in the western part of Berlin and marks the entrance to Unter den Linden. Used as one of the Berlin Wall crossings, the gate became a site of protest during the division of Germany and a place of celebration when the wall fell in 1989. The gate was severely damaged in World War II and underwent extensive renovation in the early 2000s. Today it is fully restored and is the symbol of not only the turbulent history of the region, but also the reunification of East and West Berlin. 2. The Reichstag is the seat of the German Parliament and an historic landmark. The original building was designed by several architects and the mix of styles in the completed structure was somewhat controversial at the time, but now is appreciated by thousands of visitors each year. The glass dome at the top of the building provides a magnificent view of the city and visitors must register in advance to enter it. 3. Near the Brandenburg Gate, the Holocaust Memorial is a simple, but powerful tribute to the Jews that died as a result of Hitler’s extermination plan. The 2,711 slabs are arranged in a wave-like pattern over 205,000 square feet. Each stone is unique, varying from ankle high to over six feet tall. The paths between the slabs undulate with the overall effect being one of instability and disorientation. 4. The East Side Gallery is the longest stretch of the Berlin Wall still in existence. Often described as a memorial to freedom, it showcases paintings of artists from around the world. The artwork, which began appearing in 1990, documents the changing time after the fall of the Berlin Wall as well as expressing hope for the future. 5. Five museums comprise Museum Island which is located between the Spree River and Kupfergraben. As with many of the structures in Berlin, the old museum buildings were nearly destroyed during the Second World War but are now open. The Altes Museum displays ancient Greek and Roman artifacts, while the Alte Nationalgalerie houses the largest collection of 19th century paintings and sculptures in Germany. The Nues Museum houses prehistoric pieces and Egyptian art, including the bust of Queen Nefertiti. The Pergamon Museum contains another display of Greek and Babylonian antiquities. The Ishtar Gate and Pergamon Altar are here. Finally, the Bode Museum displays a large collection of sculptures, numismatic (coin) collections and a number of paintings. 6. The Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church is in the center of the Breitscheidplatz in Berlin. The concrete and glass structure is a fascinating counterpoint to the neo-Romanesque old church that it surrounds. Photos of the original church can be found in the remaining west tower along with some of the original mosaics. 7. This beautiful boulevard lined with linden trees is one of the main east-west routes through Berlin. Greatly damaged during the war, Unter den Linden has been renovated and is currently lined with many architectural sites and other tourist attractions in Berlin including the German Historical Museum, the Staatsoper, Altes Palais and the Palace Bridge. 8. Art, entertainment and shopping can all be found in this vibrant corner of Berlin. The area is seen as symbolic reconnection of the two halves of Berlin, joining the residents of both sides in a completely new part of the city. A replica of Germany’s first traffic light stands in the center with sleek, modern office buildings surrounding the platz. 9. One of the best known crossing points of the Berlin Wall, Checkpoint Charlie resonates with emotional and historical significance. Named by the Western Allies, the border crossing bore an ominous sign stating “You are leaving the American Sector”. This was the single crossing point for members of the Allied forces and foreigners. 10. Once the hunting grounds of the Brandenburg elite, the Großer Tiergarten is now an urban park in central Berlin. Commemorating a Prussian victory, the Berlin Victory Column stands in the park and is surrounded by a street circle. Near the Column sits Schloss Bellevue, the Beautiful Palace, which is the official residence of the President of Germany. Occupying the southwest corner of the Tiergarten, the Berlin Zoo houses around 14,000 animals. The open-air habitats have made it one of the most popular zoos in Europe.

Travel video about destination Berlin in Germany. Berlin is Germany's modern capital city, a fascinating European metropolis with a dramatic history in which contemporary architecture merges with the imposing character of a centuries-old city. The Nokolai Quarter was built by the DDR government as a sort of old town, a European Disneyland for the city's 750th anniversary, a popular area with 'new' medieval buildings that display various guilds and stone statues that surround the city's oldest church. We travel to nearby Potsdam, a city of castles and gardens and with an old town that features a lively market atmosphere. When the monarchy settled there, so did their armies and with them came craftsmen, merchants and artists from many countries. The castle-like Nauener Tor leads to the Russian colony of Alexandrowka and then to Belvedere on the Pfingstberg. Returning to Berlin we embark on a trip at the Eastern Train Station on the Panorama S-Bahn whose carriages are equipped with large panoramic windows and marvelous views turn the journey into a wonderful adventure. The Olympia Stadium is still a gigantic and remarkable sight and for the 11th Olympic Games in 1936, the Third Reich spared no expense. A new city has emerged from its historic past, Berlin, a young metropolis of the third millennium that is increasingly becoming the centre of Europe. This metropolis with a heart is always worth a visit!

Arriving at Frankfurt International Airport we faced a bit of dilemma. With close to eight hours to kill before our flight from Frankfurt to Brisbane via Abu Dhabi and Singapore, we had to decide between hanging out at the airport and getting online work done or going into the city to for some quick one day whirlwind tour of the city. It wasn't long before we made the decision to head into town. Frankfurt, known locally as Frankfurt am Main, is the business and financial centre of Germany; however, I hadn't heard of many people visiting this city as opposed to using it as a mere transportation hub to get to more popular tourists destinations such as Berlin, Heidelberg or Hamburg. With very few preconceived exceptions we immediately started to be won over by the charm of the city center as we ventured past the futuristic avant-garde skyscrapers to Römer square. We couldn't help but notice the contrast of wealthy businessmen scurrying about in relation to relaxed hipster hangouts along the River Main. Getting outside of the financial hub of the city allowed us to experience a quieter pace of life where many well maintained older buildings displaced futuristic modern ones. One of our favorite experiences was visiting many of the green escapes where the hustle and bustle gave way to ponds, nature trails and geese. Some of the top highlights of our afternoon stroll included visiting Römer square, various museums, the River Main, Römerberg, Alte Nikolaikirche, Saint Bartholomeus' Cathedral, Römerplatz and Hauptwache. Overall, it was the perfect way to spend the afternoon as opposed to being cooped up in the airport waiting hours on end for our flight. This is a bit of a surprise. We have an eight hour wait for a flight in Frankfurt, so instead of just hanging around in the airport, which was our original plan, we decided to drop our bags off and come into the city. World Travel https://www.youtube.com/user/World1Tube Bavaria Travel Guide http://bit.ly/122uYVH Shepherd Entertainment gives you the history of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, which is a mountain resort town in Bavaria, Germany. Garmisch was a small alpine dwelling inhabited by shepherds but the neighboring, Partenkirchen already existed in Roman times and was called Parthenon. The residents of the two villages probably didn't like each other much. They even built their churches with their backs to each other lest they should meet by chance. All this changed in 1935 when the two villages were united in order to have better chances at the tender to organize the winter Olympics. This is when they built their ice skating stadium that was once the biggest in Europe. The three run ski jump stadium at the foot of the -- and the bobsled track surrounded by mountain lakes. The city is still developing and it's become one of the most well known vacation and ski resorts of Germany. However, it's not only a paradise for winter sports. One of Europe's biggest swimming complexes and the first wellness center Auschwitz was built in the 1970s. It has a water surface of 2000 square meters, a wave pool and an open beach. In summer, people can also swim in Riessersee, -- and Eibsee. Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a real holiday resort with a well kept holiday park, theater, confectioneries and restaurants. Richard Strauss bought a villa here from the royalties who received for his opera Salome and lived here until his death. We can find villas similar to Strauss' in both parts of the city mixing with farm houses built in alpine style. There are some Franconia and Swabian, wooden beam structured houses called Fachberg houses but there are more Bavarian ones. The latter are shorter, stubbier. Earlier these frescoes also called luftmalerei used to portray religious scenes but today, they'd rather tell the story of the house itself or the family who owns the house. On the walls of hotels and shops, they're a form of advertisement. The wall of Garmisch's oldest in inn, the Huszar is decorated with the picture of a dragon looking out the window. The well kept gardens are full of flowers of an incredibly wide variety and naturally geraniums adorn all windowsills and railings. The new joint city hall was built in 1935 before the winter Olympics. The most remarkable event in the city surroundings is the passion play in Oberammergau. The inhabitants of the small mountain village have been performing the story of the passion of Christ every 10 years for 380 years now. Their ancestors took a vow to do this at the time of the great plague. The passion is performed for six month from morning until evening and is now a widely known event that draws hundreds of thousands of spectators. A real technical relic, one of the old locomotives of the Zugspitzbahn is exhibited in front of the --house. New motor engines have taken its place in transportation which may not be prettier but are certainly more modern. Every winter, skiers, snow boarders and extreme sports lovers invade the mountains around Garmisch. The lower station of the Zugspitzbahn is near the stadium. There're several ways to go up the mountain including the cograils, cable cars, funiculars and ski lifts. But we can only get near the 2966m high summit with the Zugspitzbahn. Experienced hikers and mountain climbers can also reach the summit on foot in nine hours. The first person to reach the Zugspitz in this way was a Bavarian soldier in 1920. The tracks wind between the houses on the western part of Garmisch then make their way up the steep hillside. Through the pine forests, we can see spectacular mountain lakes sparkling. The last stretch of the journey takes us through a long tunnel. Emerging from the tunnel, we are greeted by a beautiful small lake and after a couple of minutes, we reach the top station. On the summing, we'll find a ski lift and a resthouse with two coats of arms on its railings to show where Bavaria ends and where the Austrian province Tyrol begins. From the huge terrace, we can see the surrounding mountains of Vank, --. There's a small chapel on the snow speckled summit where victims of the mountains are commemorated. The restaurant of the rest house offers tourists, mountaineers and skiers real Bavarian specialties and hot drinks. For our way down, we can also choose the cable car, the Seilbahn that takes us to the small lake of Eibsee instead of Garmisch. Eibsee is a crystal clear emerald colored mountain lake. Campgrounds and hotels have been built here and many people come here in summer to swim and row boats. tips,Garmisch-Partenkirchen,Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Bavaria, germany travel tips, shepherd entertainment,Garmish Partenkirchen in Bavaria Germany, shepherdfilm, world travel

We had heard Berlin was a city bursting with art and music and we were very excited to spend some time there. Here is our list of our favorite activities to do in the city. The following are the best 25 things to do in Berlin, Germany presented in our latest city top attractions travel guide: http://nomadicsamuel.com/photo-essays/25-things-to-do-in-berlin 1) Visit Berlin Wall - The East Side Gallery 2) Brandenburg Gate 3) Tiergarten 4) MauerPark Flohmarkt (MauerPark Flea Market) 5) Friedrichshain 6) Currywurst 7) Reichstag building 8) Tempelhof 9) Berlin's Museum Island 10) Holocaust Memorial - the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe 11) Charlottenburg Palace 12) Checkpoint Charlie 13) Alexanderplatz - The Berlin TV Tower 14) Ritter Sport 15) Berlin Cathedral 16) Currywurst Museum 17) Rent a bike and go riding 18) River spree boat tour 19) Eat a Wurst sausage 20) Friedrichshain Flohmarkt (flea market) 21) Eat a German Breakfast 22) Cat Cafe (Pee Pees Katzen Cafe) 23) Schnitzel and Spaetzle 24) U-bahn and S-bahn metro system 25) Turkish Food The East Side Gallery is the longest remaining strip of the of the former dividing wall between East and West Berlin. Today the 1.3 kilometer long wall stands as a memorial to freedom and it is covered in art and graffiti. Right now we're visiting Brandenburg Gate. This gate dates back to the 18th Century. We're here at Tiergarten, one of the biggest parks in the city. MauerPark is a hipster hangout. Every Sunday people flock to this park and spend the day barbecuing, listening to music, enjoying a few beers, and simply having a good time. There's a popular flea market where you can pick up old vinyls and clothes, and if you head over to the Bear Pit you can catch some karaoke and musical performances. If you want to spot some cool street art, then head over to Friedrichshain. You can't come to Berlin and not eat a Currywurst! This is the city's most popular fast food snack. The sausage is served with a ketchup and curry powder concoction. Up next we're at the Reichstag building which has a pretty cool glass dome on top. This dome is actually open to visitors and it offers 360 degree views of the city. Today we're visiting Tempelhof, a re-purposed airport here in Berlin for leisure activities and sports. If you enjoy museums and art galleries you'll want to visit Berlin's Museum Island. They actually have five different museums here and if you get a daily pass for 18 Euros you get access to all five. We are now visiting the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin. It is also known as the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. Charlottenburg Palace is the largest palace in Berlin and the only surviving royal residence in the city. Checkpoint Charlie was one of the crossing points between East Berlin and West Berlin during the Cold War. Located near Alexanderplatz, The Berlin TV Tower offers a great lookout over the city. Chocolate! Ritter Sport is a chocolate brand that is sold all over Germany, and while in Berlin we couldn't resist sampling a few of the different varieties. Berlin Cathedral is located on Museum Island and it's one of the most beautiful churches in the city. If Currywurst is to your liking, you'll want to check out this quirky museum devoted to Berlin's favorite sausage. Renting a bike is a great way to get around the city. Most places will rent out bikes at 10 Euros per day. For a leisurely afternoon, hop on a boat and enjoy a tour down the River Spree. Of course, you cannot come to Berlin and not eat a Wurst or a sausage. The Friedrichshain flea market takes place every Sunday and it's a great place for people watching and a little browsing. The Germans sure know how to enjoy a hearty breakfast, and we recommend you try it too. Breakfast usually offers a wide sampling of loafs and bread rolls, accompanied with various deli cuts and cheese. We couldn't resist visiting yet another cat cafe while we were in Berlin. While in Berlin we enjoyed a hearty meal of Schnitzel. This thin strip of meat is coated in flour, eggs, and breadcrumbs, before being deep-fried. You can order it with a side of mashed potatoes or German noodles known as Spaetzle. It's quite easy to get around Berlin using the U-bahn and S-bahn system. In Berlin, there is a big Turkish population and that means there is awesome Turkish street food. And that's Berlin for you! A city that has risen from the ashes of the war, which is now bursting with art, music, and life. Have you been to Berlin? We'd love to hear your favourite things about the city in the comments below. For more travel and food videos, hit subscribe! This is part of our Travel in Germany series. Take a tour of Hohenzollern Castle in Germany -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats. Crowning the peak of a mountain which bears its name is the magnificent Hohenzollern Castle. There is a long and at times troubled history to this place which spans many centuries. The castle belongs to the Hohenzollern family, who have been here even longer than the castle. The family had two previous castles on this location, the oldest from the 11th century. The current castle was built in the 19th century and is a truly remarkable sight. The Hohenzollern family has graciously made their home available for people to come and admire.

During our time backpacking and traveling around Asia we spent more time in Thailand than any other country in SE Asia and for good reason. Unlike most tourists who visit Thailand, we decided to skip most of the beaches located in the southern regions of the country and instead focus most of our time in Northern Thailand. Chiang Mai, our home away from home, became our base for several months and by the time we left we promised ourselves we'd return again in the near future. What makes Chiang Mai such a great base for foreigners? Firstly, it's cheap. You can find high quality serviced apartments for under $500 (some are less than $300) that offer modern amenities and are in located in close proximity to the old square of the city. Secondly, the food – both Thai and International – offers as much diverse selection as any city I've ever visited. If you want to gormandize on authentic Thai delights you'll have no shortage of options ranging from Thai street food to high class Thai restaurants. For the culture vulture, no shortage of opportunities exist to explore temples such as Doi Suthep, markets such as the Saturday night market or interact with animals such as at the Elephant Nature Park. When you get tired of Chiang Mai, the sleepy hillside town of Pai awaits where the pace is slower and you feel more like you're out in the countryside. Whether you love it or hate it, most journeys in Thailand begin and end in Bangkok. This steamy chaotic city offers some incredible temples to explore (such as Wat Arun and the Temple of the Mount) along with great shopping and nightlife. The following is a top attractions travel guide offering a snapshot of the best things to do in Thailand during your next vacation to Land of Smiles: 30 Things to do in Thailand Travel Guide and Top Attractions Travel Video Playlist: 1) Elephant Nature Park Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in Chiang Mai Province, Thailand 2) Pai, Thailand Travel Guide and Things to Do (ปาย) 3) Wat Arun (วัดอรุณ) 4) Eating Thai street food at the Chiang Mai Saturday Night Market Walking Street on Wua Lai Road 5) Eating delicious Khao Soi (Northern Thai Noodles: ข้าวซอย) at a restaurant in Chiang Mai Thailand 6) Learning How To Cook Thai Food at an organic Thai cooking school in Chiang Mai, Thailand 7) Visiting Chiang Mai Sunday Night Market to Eat Thai Street Food and to shop for Thai Souvenirs 8) Bangkok Water Taxi Boat Ride along a canal nearby Chao Phraya River to visit Wat Saket Temple 9) Our Neighborhood in Chiang Mai, Thailand | A tour of some Thai Buddhist temples, Thai homes and dogs 10) Thai Visa run border crossing from Mae Sai, Thailand to Tachilek, Myanmar (Burma) Travel Video 11) Eating the best Pad Thai ever (ผัดไทย) at Chang Chalaad Restaurant in Chiang Mai, Thailand 12) Eating the best Pad Thai ever (ผัดไทย) at Chang Chalaad Restaurant in Chiang Mai, Thailand 13) Feasting on Thai street food at the Chiang Mai Saturday Night Market | Thailand Travel Video 14) Riding our bicycles down the street during a flash flood in Chiang Mai, Thailand Travel Video 15) Visiting Wat Saket (The Golden Mount Temple) on a Buddhist holiday in Bangkok Thailand 16) Eating Northern Thai Cuisine Khantoke Set Feast (ขันโตก) for dinner in Chiang Mai, Thailand 17) Train Ride in Thailand from Chiang Mai to Bangkok Travel Video: Thai Railways การรถไฟแห่งประเทศไทย 18) Eating Korean Food in Thailand | Delicious Korean Meal (김치전 & 군만두) at the Korea House in Chiang Mai 19) Eating Mango Sticky Rice Thai Dessert (Khao Niaow Ma Muang: ข้าวเหนียวมะม่วง) in Chiang Mai 20) Eating Thai Banana Pancakes Roti in Chiang Mai, Thailand | Thai Street Food Travel Video 21) Eating Thai Yellow Noodle Dumpling Soup at Chiang Mai Gate, Thailand | Thai Street Food Series 22) Flying from Chiang Mai to Bangkok, Thailand in first class (business class) with Thai Airways 23) Train Ride in Thailand from Bangkok to Chiang Mai including a word association game 24) Visiting Wat Phra That Doi Suthep Temple in Chiang Mai, Thailand (วัดพระธาตุดอยสุเทพ) 25) Eating Thai Vegetarian Food at Pun Pun Restaurant at Wat Suan Dok in Chiang Mai, Thailand 26) Shopping at Thai Shopping Mall MBK (Mahboonkrong Center มาบุญครอง) in Bangkok, Thailand 27) Eating lunch at Salad Concept - a vegetarian friendly restaurant in Chiang Mai, Thailand 28) Tuk-Tuk Auto Rickshaw ride in Bangkok, Thailand with an update about our upcoming travel plans 29) Train journey from Chiang Mai to Bangkok, Thailand Time-Lapse Sequence Travel Video 30) Shopping For Thai Souvenirs in Chiang Mai Music by Kevin Mcleod under a creative commons attribution license. Danny and Michael observe a protest at Brandenburg Gate. Completing the tour, they head over to Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp, which was primarily used for political prisoners from 1936-1945.

Rick Stein sets out on his German voyage with his usual appetite to unearth some of the country's hidden culinary gems. Is anybody actually interested in German cuisine? Even Stein struggled to muster enthusiasm for pork knuckles, and took refuge in jokes about the war Stein admitted he first pitched the idea of making a TV programme about German food more than a decade ago. It was turned down then because no one at the BBC thought anyone was particularly interested in German cooking. I'm not sure a lot has changed in the intervening years, but Stein finally got his way. Maybe there was some money left in the budget after his trip to India. It rather looked as if Stein had a few doubts of his own about the attractions of German food, as this film kept deviating from the cuisine into an exploration of Stein's Germanic roots. With a bit of sightseeing thrown in for good measure. Or possibly, padding; listening to the tour guide, Steffi, sing a cover version of a Beatles song on a street corner in Hamburg is something that should probably only be experienced live. At one point, we even got a five-minute filler about a German TV documentary crew that had turned up to film Stein's UK film crew. I know this was a food programme, but this was TV eating itself. None of which made for very satisfactory viewing. If this was meant to be a pitch for the joys of German cuisine, then it missed its target. Pickled herrings, smoked eel, corned beef, sauerkraut and gravy are an acquired taste. "Wow, this is good," said Stein, tucking in to a supersized pork knuckle in a bierkeller. The look on the face of his son, Jack, suggested otherwise. A chef branded as the German Jamie Oliver who spoke perfect English – it's hard to imagine the British Jamie Oliver being fluent in German – made a far better case for modern German cuisine than Stein, who was only interested in the traditional basics that most Brits might have heard of, but he appeared all too briefly. Nor did the programme work in its Who Do You Think You Are? format because there wasn't enough time or breathing space for any of Stein's German ancestors to come alive as characters. All we really got was a potted family tree and a few awkward encounters with some of his living relatives. A cousin, whom Stein didn't appear to have seen since the 1960s, vented 50 years of resentment with a long story about how Stein had never liked her and found her really boring. Fair play to Stein for leaving that in the programme. More of that and it could have been compelling television. The one coherent theme was the faint sniff of xenophobia that seems to be part of almost any programme about things German. Did we really need the soundtrack of Noel Coward's Don't Let's Be Beastly to the Hun? And was Stein really wise to say of Bismarck that a dish named after him has lasted rather longer than the battleship in which more than 2,000 sailors lost their lives? Or should I, along with the Germans, just relax and acquire a sense of humour? Perhaps because he realised he was up against it when it came to giving German food a makeover –big lumps of meat slathered in cabbage popped up at regular intervals – the show quickly morphed from a food odyssey to one with more personal bite. Accompanied by son Jack, Stein traced his roots back to a Düsseldorf beer dynasty. It was a bequest from the German side of Stein’s family tree that set him on the path to British foodie royalty. So it’s no surprise that Stein turned out to be quite the Deutschophile, motoring about to Kraftwerk classic Autobahn and waxing lyrical on the German ability to drink and eat the day away in the sunshine without wanting to throw up or get into a scrap.

Sex tourism is travel to engage in sexual activity, particularly with prostitutes. The World Tourism Organization, a specialized agency of the United Nations, defines sex tourism as "trips organized from within the tourism sector, or from outside this sector but using its structures and networks, with the primary purpose of effecting a commercial sexual relationship by the tourist with residents at the destination".[1] Some people regard sexual activity while travelling as a way of enhancing their travel experience. However, social problems arise when particular countries or cities acquire a reputation as a destination or become attractive for sex tourism. Attractions for sex tourists can include lower costs for sexual services in the destination country, along with easier attitudes to prostitution and because prostitution is either legal or there is indifferent law enforcement, and access to child prostitution.
This travel video showcases the top 12 temples worth visiting in Southeast Asia including Buddhist temples, Taoist temples and Hindu temples just to name a few. Whether you're visiting Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar (Burma), Singapore or Brunei you'll see some magnificent temples. The following is a list of the best 12 temples we highly recommend you visit in SE Asia while traveling: 1) Angkor Wat Temple Angkor Wat temple is located in Siem Reap, Cambodia and is a Hindu temple dedicated to the Hindu God Vishnu built by a Cambodian King who helped unify the country and to also spread the Khmer influence across Southeast Asia. 2) Wat Arun Temple Wat Arun temple is located in Bangkok, Thailand. This is the Temple of Dawn located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya river. 3) Banteay Srei Temple Banteay Srei is located in Siem Reap, Cambodia. This happens to be a Hindu temple and it is dedicated to the God Shiva. Most of the temples of Angkor were commissioned by powerful Kings but this temple in particular was not. It was commissioned by a Brahman, which makes it quite unique. There are many temples to choose from but this one in particular Banteay Srei is considered to be the crown jewel of Angkorian art because it has some of the most exquisite and intricate carvings. 4) Kek Lok Si Temple Kek Lok Si is located in Air Itam (George Town) Penang, Malaysia. Kek Lok Si temple, also known as the Temple of Supreme Bliss, is the biggest Buddhist temple in all of Southeast Asia. The temple complex combines Mahayana Buddhism and Chinese rituals. For anyone who would like to come you can take the bus 201, 203 and 204 from the Komplex Komptar - basically the main mall from George Town and it is about a 40 minute ride to here. 5) Batu Caves Temple The Batu Caves are located 13 kilometers north of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. As an important Hindu shrine the Batu Caves takes its name from the Batu River and is dedicated to Lord Murugan. To get to the top you'll have to climb two hundred and seventy two steps. You'll notice lots of macaques or little monkeys. 6) Preah Khan Temple Preah Khan is located in Siem Reap Province, Cambodia as part of the Temples of Angkor. The temple means 'sacred sword' and this temple is believed to have been a University that housed over a 1000 teachers. It has that kind of eerie feeling to it similar to Ta Prohm but without all of the crowds. You can be walking through and you feel like you're going through a maze. It is really quite fascinating. People who have come to this temple have picked up some rocks and stacked them into a little formation and I do believe this has a special meaning in Buddhism. 7) Golden Mount Temple Golden Mount Temple is located in Bangkok, Thailand. You can find yourself having some of the best views of Bangkok from up here. It is normally not crowded; however, on a special Buddhist holiday it is packed with people - especially local Thais. 8) Doi Suthep Temple Doi Suthep Temple is located in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Located on top of a mountain it is best reached by taking a red songthaew where you can have the best view of Chiang Mai on a clear day. 9) Angkor Thom Temple (Bayon) Bayon, also known as Angkor Thom Temple is located in Siem Reap, Cambodia an is part of the Temples of Angkor. The most fascinating thing about Bayon are the cold faces that have a hint of a smile. This massive complex has 54 towers with 216 faces on them. You can also visit the Terrace of the Elephants which is 350 meters long. 10) Cave Pagoda Temple Cave Pagoda is located in Vietnam along the Mekong Delta nearby the Vietnamese - Cambodian border in the far south near Chao Doc. To reach the summit you need to climb 400 steps and chances are you'll be sweating profusely. This temple has beautiful views. It is just rice fields as far as you can see. 11) Ta Prohm Temple Ta Prohm Temple is located in Siem Reap, Cambodia in the Angkor region. Ta Prohm is a Buddhist temple where the jungle just dominates the architecture. Indiana Jones would feel right at home here at this temple. In fact, it was used for the set of Tomb Raider staring Angelina Joli. It is decaying and it is crumbling but it is a great place to explore. This is an example of nature taking over the temple. 12) Temples to visit in Southeast Asia Transcript Playlist: This is part of our Travel in Southeast Asia series. noodls 2015-03-27Germany (i/ˈdʒɜrməni/), officially the Federal Republic of Germany (German: Bundesrepublik Deutschland, pronounced [ˈbʊndəsʁepuˌbliːk ˈdɔʏtʃlant] ( listen)), is a federal parliamentary republic in Europe. The country consists of 16 states while the capital and largest city is Berlin. Germany covers an area of 357,021 km2 and has a largely temperate seasonal climate. With 81.8 million inhabitants, it is the most populous member state and the largest economy in the European Union. It is one of the major political powers of the European continent and a technological leader in many fields.
A region named Germania, inhabited by several Germanic peoples, was documented before AD 100. During the Migration Period, the Germanic tribes expanded southward, and established successor kingdoms throughout much of Europe. Beginning in the 10th century, German territories formed a central part of the Holy Roman Empire. During the 16th century, northern German regions became the centre of the Protestant Reformation while southern and western parts remained dominated by Roman Catholic denominations, with the two factions clashing in the Thirty Years' War, marking the beginning of the Catholic–Protestant divide that has characterized German society ever since. Occupied during the Napoleonic Wars, the rise of Pan-Germanism inside the German Confederation resulted in the unification of most of the German states into the German Empire in 1871 which was Prussian dominated. After the German Revolution of 1918–1919 and the subsequent military surrender in World War I, the Empire was replaced by the Weimar Republic in 1918, and partitioned in the Treaty of Versailles. Amidst the Great Depression, the Third Reich was proclaimed in 1933. The latter period was marked by Fascism and World War II. After 1945, Germany was divided by allied occupation, and evolved into two states, East Germany and West Germany. In 1990 Germany was reunified.
