The Ennedi Plateau, located in the North-East of Chad, in the Ennedi Region, is a sandstone bulwark in the middle of the Sahara. It is assailed by the sands on all sides, that encroach the deep valleys of the Ennedi. Only the caravans manage to cross it and this makes the region an area subject to multiple influences. The landscape has structures like towers, pillars, bridges and arches. They are a great attraction for tourists.
The plateau also has a rich collection of fauna, including examples of the Desert crocodile, that once existed throughout the Sahara at a time of more abundant rainfall (see Neolithic Subpluvial). A striking characteristic of this population of crocodiles is dwarfism developed due to their isolation, which make them unusual (other such remnant populations are or were found in Mauritania and Algeria). They survive in only a few pools in river canyons in the area, for example the Guelta d'Archei, and are threatened with extinction. The last lions in the Sahara also survived here, until they became extinct; the last lion was seen in the 1940s. Also, any surviving Scimitar-horned Oryx antelopes that might still live in the wild are likely to be found in the remote regions of the Ennedi Plateau. It is also possible that the cryptid Ennedi tiger may still survive there.
Unreleased hard trance track from 2004. Enjoy! I have absolutely no idea where did I get this from. I think it was floating around on DC++ back in the day as "scene-release". Anybody, who's got some more info, don't hesitate to share! Sounds like a German stuff, but this time it looks to be a Polish production. http://www.last.fm/pl/music/Darkside+Project The used image represents the amazing Guelta d'Archei which is located in the Ennedi Plateau, in north-eastern Chad, south-east of the town of Fada.
Only some 400 tourists visit Chad each year. If you want to step out of your life and disappear into a vast, stunning and varied landscape; if you have a keen sense of adventure; don't mind 130 degree heat midday or winds blowing dust through your tent at night, then Chad is the place to go. This huge landlocked country covers 495,753 square miles. If the human population is approximately ten million, the cattle and camel population seems to be triple that number. Part one of this clip features our vans traveling through the landscape, touching the Sahel, savannah, desert and Ennedi region. Part two highlights the pulse of Chad -- its people, wildlife, rivers and markets. Timeless, colorful and dare I say quirky, I have never experienced anything like it
