The History of Hindu India (Part One) was developed by the editors of Hinduism Today magazine in collaboration with Dr. Shiva Bajpai, Professor Emeritus of History, California State University Northridge. It is intended to provide an authentic presentation of the history of India and Hinduism for use in American 6th grade social study classes, as well as Hindu temple study groups and general presentations on the Hindu religion and history. The documentary is based on the first chapter of the textbook, The History of Hindu India, published in 2011. Biografi Dr. Zakir Naik:
Zakir Naik terlahir pada 18 Oktober, 1965 Mumbai (Bombay pada waktu itu) beliau adalah seorang pembicara umum Muslim India, dan penulis keislaman dan perbandingan agama. Sejak 1991 ia telah menjadi seorang ulama yang terlibat dalam dakwah Islam dan perbandingan agama.
Rekaman video dan DVD ceramahnya banyak didistribusikan. Perkataannya disiarkan pada akhir pekan di saluran Peace TV, sebuah stasiun televisi milik beliau. Zakir Naik juga adalah pendiri dan presiden Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) sebuah organisasi nirlaba. Topik yang sering ia bicarakan mencakup: Islam dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Modern, Persamaan Islam dan Kristen, Kristologi, Islam dan Sekularisme, Ketuhanan Yesus Kristus, Penyaliban Yesus, Ketuhanan Yesus, Nubuat Nabi Muhammad dalam Bibel, Nubuat Nabi Muhammad dalam Kitab Hindu, Nubuat Nabi Muhammad dalam Kitab Buddha, dsb.
Jika kita melihat tayangan video Dr. Zakir Naik di Youtube, ceramah beliau tidak hanya hanya orang Islam saja juga oleh kristen, hindu, buddha, bahkan ateisme. Dan kita lihat dari ceramah-ceramahnya di YouTube, banyak orang-orang non-Muslim tersebut termasuk pendeta, pandid, dsb yang tadinya melakukan debat agama dengan beliau namun akhirnya masuk Islam (menjadi muallaf) di acara beliau. Mereka memberikan kesaksian bahwa Islam adalah agama kebenaran.
Diantara pendapat itu adalah tentang mukjizat Quran. Al-qur’an yang telah turun 1400 tahun yang lalu merupakan salah satu kitab yang menurut beliau adalah kitab yang sangat luar biasa, karena didalamnya terdapat fenomena yang tak sedikit fenomena itu di ketemukan pada akhir-akhir ini.
Dr. Zakir Naik dengan kemampuan yang dimilikinya berupa hafalan yang teramat kuat tidak hanya mampu menghafalkan Al-Qur’an dan Shahih Bukhari Muslim, akan tetapi beliau juga telah menguasai kitab Weda, Tripitaka, Bhagavad gita, bahkan telah menggerakkan hati ribuan penganut Hindu di India dan menjadi mu’allaf. Beliau tanpa ragu-ragu juga mengoreksi pastur dan pendeta jika mereka salah dalam mengutip ayat-ayat dalam bibble atau injil.
Namun, tidak seperti gurunya, yaitu Syekh Ahmed Deedat, Dr. Zakir Naik tidak memiliki banyak agenda Debat Terbuka layaknya Ahmed Deedat karena hampir semua tantangan debat yang dilayangkan oleh Dr. Zakir Naik banyak yang tidak mendapat respon dari gereja, bahkan sampai sekarang belum ada berita apakah ada Pendeta yang berani berhadapan langsung dengan beliau. Oleh karena itu, Dr. Zakir Naik dijuluki “Ahmed Deedat Plus” yang telah membuat pastur dan pendeta merasa ngeri berhadapan dengan beliau yang argumentasinya belum pernah terpatahkan.
Naik pernah mengajak debat terbuka kepada Paus Benediktus dimana tantangan debat tersebut tidak direspon. Debatnya pada tahun 2006 dengan Sri Sri Ravi Shankar dengan topik "Konsep Ketuhanan dalam Hinduisme dan Islam" yang diadakan di kota Bangalore, India, mengalami sukses besar. Beliau berhasil membuktikan bahwa Islam adalah agama kebenaran yang diwahyukan Allah kepada nabi penutup dan terakhir, Nabi Muhammad s.a.w.
Dakwah-dakwahnya disampaikan dengan mudah dapat diakses melalui situs youtube yang kebanyakan berasal dari saluran Peace TV yang direkam dengan kefasihan beliau dalam berbahasa Inggris, bahkan beberapa telah disertai subtitle Indonesia.
Dr. Zakir Naik muncul secara rutin di berbagai channel TV di lebih dari 100 negara di seluruh dunia. Dia secara berkala diwawancara dan diundang ke acara-acara radio maupun TV. Selain itu, beliau juga menulis banyak buku dengan judul "The Quran and Modern Science – Compatible or Incompatible", "Is the Quran God's Word?", "Women in Islam – Protected or Subjugated", "Concept of God in Major Religions", dan "Answers to Non-Muslims Common Questions about Islam."
Gurunya, Syekh Ahmed Deedat, memberikan plakat pada tahun 2000 yang dipersembahkan sebagai hadiah kepada Naik karena pencapaiannya di bidang dakwah dan studi perbandingan agama. Terukur di plakat tersebut adalah kata-kata sebagai berikut: "Putraku, kau telah melakukan dalam waktu 4 tahun hal-hal yang butuh 40 tahun bagiku untuk melakukannya, Alhamdulillah."

As used in the Constitution of India, the word "Hindu" is also attributed to all persons professing any Indian religion (i.e. Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism or Sikhism). In common use today, it refers to an adherent of Hinduism.
With more than a billion adherents, Hinduism is the world's third largest religion. The vast majority of Hindus, approximately 940 million, live in India. Other countries with large Hindu populations include Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Suriname, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, Fiji and the island of Bali.
The word Hindu is derived from the Sanskrit word Sindhu, first mentioned in the Rig Veda, was the historic local appellation for the Indus River in the northwestern part of the Indian subcontinent.

The usage of the word Hindu was further popularized for Arabs and further west by the Arabic term al-Hind referring to the land of the people who live across river Indus and the Persian term Hindū referring to all Indians. By the 13th century, Hindustān emerged as a popular alternative name of India, meaning the "land of Hindus".

Zakir Abdul Karim Naik (Urdu: ذاکر عبدالکریم نائیک; born 18 October 1965) is an Indian public speaker on the subject of Islam and comparative religion. He is the founder and president of the Islamic Research Foundation (IRF), a non-profit organisation that owns the Peace TV channel based in Dubai, UAE. He is sometimes referred to as a televangelist. Before becoming a public speaker, he trained as a doctor. He has written two booklets on Islam and comparative religion. He is regarded as an exponent of the Salafi ideology; he places a strong emphasis on individual scholarship and the rejection of "blind Taqlid", which has led him to repudiate the relevance of sectarian or Madh'hab designations, all the while reaffirming their importance.
Zakir Abdul Karim Naik was born on 18 October 1965 in Mumbai, India. He attended St. Peter's High School in Mumbai. Later he enrolled at Kishinchand Chellaram College, before studying medicine at Topiwala National Medical College and Nair Hospital and later the University of Mumbai, where he obtained a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS). His wife, Farhat Naik, works for the women's section of the IRF.

Biografi Dr. Zakir Naik:
Zakir Naik terlahir pada 18 Oktober, 1965 Mumbai (Bombay pada waktu itu) beliau adalah seorang pembicara umum Muslim India, dan penulis keislaman dan perbandingan agama. Sejak 1991 ia telah menjadi seorang ulama yang terlibat dalam dakwah Islam dan perbandingan agama.
Rekaman video dan DVD ceramahnya banyak didistribusikan. Perkataannya disiarkan pada akhir pekan di saluran Peace TV, sebuah stasiun televisi milik beliau. Zakir Naik juga adalah pendiri dan presiden Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) sebuah organisasi nirlaba. Topik yang sering ia bicarakan mencakup: Islam dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Modern, Persamaan Islam dan Kristen, Kristologi, Islam dan Sekularisme, Ketuhanan Yesus Kristus, Penyaliban Yesus, Ketuhanan Yesus, Nubuat Nabi Muhammad dalam Bibel, Nubuat Nabi Muhammad dalam Kitab Hindu, Nubuat Nabi Muhammad dalam Kitab Buddha, dsb.
Jika kita melihat tayangan video Dr. Zakir Naik di Youtube, ceramah beliau tidak hanya hanya orang Islam saja juga oleh kristen, hindu, buddha, bahkan ateisme. Dan kita lihat dari ceramah-ceramahnya di YouTube, banyak orang-orang non-Muslim tersebut termasuk pendeta, pandid, dsb yang tadinya melakukan debat agama dengan beliau namun akhirnya masuk Islam (menjadi muallaf) di acara beliau. Mereka memberikan kesaksian bahwa Islam adalah agama kebenaran.
Diantara pendapat itu adalah tentang mukjizat Quran. Al-qur’an yang telah turun 1400 tahun yang lalu merupakan salah satu kitab yang menurut beliau adalah kitab yang sangat luar biasa, karena didalamnya terdapat fenomena yang tak sedikit fenomena itu di ketemukan pada akhir-akhir ini.
Dr. Zakir Naik dengan kemampuan yang dimilikinya berupa hafalan yang teramat kuat tidak hanya mampu menghafalkan Al-Qur’an dan Shahih Bukhari Muslim, akan tetapi beliau juga telah menguasai kitab Weda, Tripitaka, Bhagavad gita, bahkan telah menggerakkan hati ribuan penganut Hindu di India dan menjadi mu’allaf. Beliau tanpa ragu-ragu juga mengoreksi pastur dan pendeta jika mereka salah dalam mengutip ayat-ayat dalam bibble atau injil.
Namun, tidak seperti gurunya, yaitu Syekh Ahmed Deedat, Dr. Zakir Naik tidak memiliki banyak agenda Debat Terbuka layaknya Ahmed Deedat karena hampir semua tantangan debat yang dilayangkan oleh Dr. Zakir Naik banyak yang tidak mendapat respon dari gereja, bahkan sampai sekarang belum ada berita apakah ada Pendeta yang berani berhadapan langsung dengan beliau. Oleh karena itu, Dr. Zakir Naik dijuluki “Ahmed Deedat Plus” yang telah membuat pastur dan pendeta merasa ngeri berhadapan dengan beliau yang argumentasinya belum pernah terpatahkan.
Naik pernah mengajak debat terbuka kepada Paus Benediktus dimana tantangan debat tersebut tidak direspon. Debatnya pada tahun 2006 dengan Sri Sri Ravi Shankar dengan topik "Konsep Ketuhanan dalam Hinduisme dan Islam" yang diadakan di kota Bangalore, India, mengalami sukses besar. Beliau berhasil membuktikan bahwa Islam adalah agama kebenaran yang diwahyukan Allah kepada nabi penutup dan terakhir, Nabi Muhammad s.a.w.
Dakwah-dakwahnya disampaikan dengan mudah dapat diakses melalui situs youtube yang kebanyakan berasal dari saluran Peace TV yang direkam dengan kefasihan beliau dalam berbahasa Inggris, bahkan beberapa telah disertai subtitle Indonesia.
Dr. Zakir Naik muncul secara rutin di berbagai channel TV di lebih dari 100 negara di seluruh dunia. Dia secara berkala diwawancara dan diundang ke acara-acara radio maupun TV. Selain itu, beliau juga menulis banyak buku dengan judul "The Quran and Modern Science – Compatible or Incompatible", "Is the Quran God's Word?", "Women in Islam – Protected or Subjugated", "Concept of God in Major Religions", dan "Answers to Non-Muslims Common Questions about Islam."
Gurunya, Syekh Ahmed Deedat, memberikan plakat pada tahun 2000 yang dipersembahkan sebagai hadiah kepada Naik karena pencapaiannya di bidang dakwah dan studi perbandingan agama. Terukur di plakat tersebut adalah kata-kata sebagai berikut: "Putraku, kau telah melakukan dalam waktu 4 tahun hal-hal yang butuh 40 tahun bagiku untuk melakukannya, Alhamdulillah."
Indian Express membuat daftar "100 Orang India Terkuat 2009" di antara satu milyar penduduk India, Zakir Naik masuk peringkat 82. Dalam daftar khusus "10 Guru Spiritual Terbaik India", Zakir Naik ada di peringkat 3, setelah Baba Ramdev dan Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, menjadi satu-satunya Muslim di daftar ini.

Biografi Dr. Zakir Naik:
Zakir Naik terlahir pada 18 Oktober, 1965 Mumbai (Bombay pada waktu itu) beliau adalah seorang pembicara umum Muslim India, dan penulis keislaman dan perbandingan agama. Sejak 1991 ia telah menjadi seorang ulama yang terlibat dalam dakwah Islam dan perbandingan agama.

Jika kita melihat tayangan video Dr. Zakir Naik di Youtube, ceramah beliau tidak hanya hanya orang Islam saja juga oleh kristen, hindu, buddha, bahkan ateisme. Dan kita lihat dari ceramah-ceramahnya di YouTube, banyak orang-orang non-Muslim tersebut termasuk pendeta, pandid, dsb yang tadinya melakukan debat agama dengan beliau namun akhirnya masuk Islam (menjadi muallaf) di acara beliau. Mereka memberikan kesaksian bahwa Islam adalah agama kebenaran.
Diantara pendapat itu adalah tentang mukjizat Quran. Al-qur’an yang telah turun 1400 tahun yang lalu merupakan salah satu kitab yang menurut beliau adalah kitab yang sangat luar biasa, karena didalamnya terdapat fenomena yang tak sedikit fenomena itu di ketemukan pada akhir-akhir ini.
Dr. Zakir Naik dengan kemampuan yang dimilikinya berupa hafalan yang teramat kuat tidak hanya mampu menghafalkan Al-Qur’an dan Shahih Bukhari Muslim, akan tetapi beliau juga telah menguasai kitab Weda, Tripitaka, Bhagavad gita, bahkan telah menggerakkan hati ribuan penganut Hindu di India dan menjadi mu’allaf. Beliau tanpa ragu-ragu juga mengoreksi pastur dan pendeta jika mereka salah dalam mengutip ayat-ayat dalam bible atau injil.
Namun, tidak seperti gurunya, yaitu Syekh Ahmed Deedat, Dr. Zakir Naik tidak memiliki banyak agenda Debat Terbuka layaknya Ahmed Deedat karena hampir semua tantangan debat yang dilayangkan oleh Dr. Zakir Naik banyak yang tidak mendapat respon dari gereja, bahkan sampai sekarang belum ada berita apakah ada Pendeta yang berani berhadapan langsung dengan beliau. Oleh karena itu, Dr. Zakir Naik dijuluki “Ahmed Deedat Plus” yang telah membuat pastur dan pendeta merasa ngeri berhadapan dengan beliau yang argumentasinya belum pernah terpatahkan.

"The History of Hindu India" (Part Two) was developed by the editors of Hinduism Today magazine in collaboration with Dr. Shiva Bajpai, Professor Emeritus of History, California State University Northridge. It is intended to provide an authentic presentation of the history of India and Hinduism for use in American middle and high school classes, as well as Hindu temple study groups, dharma classes and general presentations on the Hindu religion and history.
The documentary is based on the second chapter of the textbook, The History of Hindu India, published by Himalayan Academy in 2011. It covers Indian history from 300 ce to 1000 ce and opens with magnificent footage of the famed Kailasanatha Temple in Maharashtra, then discusses the Gupta Empire, the Huna invasions, the visits of the Chinese Buddhist monks Faxian and Xuanzang, the initial incursions of Arab Muslim armies in the 8th century, as well as the great Chola kingdom of South India, with a brief foray into the political history of India, all at a time when one third of world's population lived there. City and village life are described, along with jati, the joint family structure and marriage arranging. This period also witnessed the beginning of the Bhakti Movement and the development of many still-famous Hindu temples.

Surat, Dec 30 (ANI): The mass wedding in the city of Surat was organized with a difference. Under one roof, one could witness marriages according to Hindu and Muslim cultures simultaneously. One could hear chants of both Vedic shlokas at a Hindu marriage and verses from Quran at a Nikah ceremony. Mahesh Sawani, a diamond trader, organized wedding for 151 young couples. The businessman paid for all the expenses, including the wedding trousseau for all the fatherless girls belonging to different religious backgrounds. Sawani has been doing this noble cause for the past several years. The brides were dressed in traditional red and gold embroidered saris and the grooms in long tunics and turbans. The atmosphere was full of gaiety and warmth. Around 1, 00,000 guests joined the mass wedding that was held in a sprawling school ground that was decorated with flowers and lights.
Each couple tied the knot in separate porticos set up in the vast ground, where the wedding rituals were performed. A cleric was also arranged for the Nikah ceremony for the girls belonging to the Muslim community. The event represented the confluence of Indian cultures and communities, displaying unity and oneness.

Ayyappan's annual festival is a time of pilgrimage for ever-growing numbers of men from throughout South India. The most prominent and famous Ayyappan shrine is the one at Sabarimala, in the hills of Pathanamthitta in Kerala, with over 30 million devotees visiting it every year, making it one of the largest pilgrimage sites in the world. These devotees fast and engage in austerities under the leadership of a Periya Swami (one who has undertaken the pilgrimage to Sabarimala for 18 years) for weeks beforehand and then travel in groups to the shrine for a glimpse of Ayyappan. Bus tickets are hard to obtain for several weeks as masses of elated men, clad in distinctive ritual dhotis of saffron, black and light blue colors, throng public transportation during their trip to the shrine.
The name "sri Ayyappan" is used as a respectful form of address in the Tamil and Malayalam languages. The Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu and Tamil sentence Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa can be translated as, "Oh Ayyappa! I seek refuge in you"

Ayyappan (also called Sastavu , Manikandan or Sasta) is a Hindu deity who is believed to be an incarnation of Dharma Sasta, the offspring of Shiva and Vishnu (in the form of Mohini, his only female avatar), He is generally depicted in a yogic posture, wearing a jewel around his neck, hence named Manikandan,Literally meaning "With bell around the neck".
By the 20th century, there has been an increase in the number of worshipers of Ayyappan from many different groups, spurred by vast improvements in transport and communication in southern India.
Ayyappan's annual festival is a time of pilgrimage for ever-growing numbers of men from throughout South India. The most prominent and famous Ayyappan shrine is the one at Sabarimala, in the hills of Pathanamthitta in Kerala, with over 30 million devotees visiting it every year, making it one of the largest pilgrimage sites in the world. These devotees fast and engage in austerities under the leadership of a Periya Swami (one who has undertaken the pilgrimage to Sabarimala for 18 years) for weeks beforehand and then travel in groups to the shrine for a glimpse of Ayyappan.
