Nathan "Nate" Corddry (born September 8, 1977) is an American actor best known for his television roles on programs such as Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, The Daily Show, United States of Tara, 30 Rock, and Harry's Law. He played Private First Class Loudmouth in the HBO miniseries The Pacific. Most recently he has appeared on Fox's New Girl, and CBS's Mom.
Corddry was born in Weymouth, Massachusetts to Robin (née Sullivan) and Steven Corddry, who was a Massachusetts Port Authority official. After graduating from Weymouth High School in 1995, he went to Colby-Sawyer College where he majored in Communications.
Corddry's older brother Rob has also worked as a well-known correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart since 2002. On October 4, 2005, Nate joined the show as a correspondent. Nate and Rob appeared together in various pieces on the show, including a segment called "Brother vs. Brother" on February 21, 2006. In this segment they formally debated each other on the issue of Big Brother, but their debate quickly turned into immature name-calling, cheap shots by Rob, and an inevitable breaking up of the fight by Jon Stewart.
The Sunset Strip is the name given to the mile-and-a-half (2.4 km) stretch of Sunset Boulevard that passes through West Hollywood, California. It extends from West Hollywood's eastern border with Hollywood at Havenhurst Drive, to its western border with Beverly Hills at Sierra Drive. The Strip is probably the best-known portion of Sunset, embracing boutiques, restaurants, rock clubs, and nightclubs that are on the cutting edge of the entertainment industry. It is also known for its trademark array of huge, colorful billboards.
As the Strip lies outside of the Los Angeles city limits and was an unincorporated area under the jurisdiction of the County of Los Angeles, the area fell under the less-vigilant jurisdiction of the Sheriff's Department rather than the heavy hand of the LAPD. It was illegal to gamble in the city, but legal in the county. This fostered the building of a rather wilder concentration of nightlife than Los Angeles would tolerate, and in the 1920s a number of nightclubs and casinos moved in along the Strip, which attracted movie people to this less-restricted area; alcohol was served in back rooms during Prohibition.
A speakeasy, also called a blind pig or blind tiger, is an establishment that sells alcoholic beverages. Such establishments came into prominence in the United States during the Prohibition era (1920–1933, longer in some states). During that time, the sale, manufacture, and transportation (bootlegging) of alcoholic beverages was illegal throughout the United States.
Speakeasies largely disappeared after Prohibition was ended in 1933, and the term is now used to describe some retro style bars.
According to an 1889 newspaper, "Unlicensed saloons in Pennsylvania are known as 'speak-easies'." They were "so called because of the practice of speaking quietly about such a place in public, or when inside it, so as not to alert the police or neighbors." The term is reported to have originated with saloon owner Kate Hester, who ran an unlicensed bar in the 1880s in the Pittsburgh area town of McKeesport, Pennsylvania. Although the phrase may have first come to prominence in the United States because of raids on unlicensed saloons in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area, the phrase "speak easy shop," denoting a place where unlicensed liquor sales were made, appeared in a British naval memoir written in 1844. The phrase, "speak softly shop," meaning a "smuggler's house," appeared in a British slang dictionary published in 1823. Many years later, in Prohibition-era America, the "speakeasy" became a common name to describe a place to get a drink.
Robert William "Rob" Corddry (born February 4, 1971) is an American actor and comedian. He is known for his work as a correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (2002–2006) and for his starring role in the comedy film Hot Tub Time Machine (2010). He is also the creator and star of the Adult Swim comedy series Childrens Hospital and won his first and second Emmy Awards in September 2012 and September 2013. Corddry currently co-stars in the HBO series Ballers.
Corddry was born and raised in Weymouth, Massachusetts. He is the son of Robin (née Sullivan) and Steven Corddry, who was a Massachusetts Port Authority official. He is the older brother of actor Nate Corddry. He also has a younger sister, Laura Corddry, who is an administrator at Southern New Hampshire University. Corddry and his brother are both Eagle Scouts from Troop 19, located in Weymouth.
After graduating from Weymouth North High School (1989), Corddry went to the University of Massachusetts Amherst (1989–93). According to an interview in the UMass Amherst alumni magazine, Corddry initially planned to major in journalism; but he stuck with it for just two days. English became his official major; but, by his second year, he focused much of his attention on Drama classes and plays including Torch Song Trilogy, Ten Little Indians, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Romeo and Juliet, and Reckless. While at UMass, Corddry pledged the Theta Chapter of Theta Chi fraternity.

Most love stories are about finding love or losing it. This is a story about what happens in between. It follows Eric (Josh Pence) and Rachel (Spencer Grammer), two strangers on the heels of heartbreak. Much to the concern of their closest friends (Nate Corddry and Melissa Rauch), Eric and Rachel, still reeling from their respective losses, are finding it difficult to move on. But after a chance meeting between the two, everything starts to change. They embark on an unconventional friendship that guides them out of their respective ruts, but ultimately becomes more complicated as it develops into something more. Through it all, we accompany Eric and Rachel as they awkwardly - and, often times, comically - navigate the uniquely ambiguous space between losing love and finding it again.
