Conversation with Steven Pinker
Steven Pinker argues that humans are becoming less violent. That may seem a bizarre claim to make in the face of daily reports of terrible conflict around the world. But, despite the continuing litany of horrific events, Pinker’s research shows that we are much less likely to die at someone’s hands than ever before. Violence – both murder and warfare – has declined over centuries and decades. What

All beings should be explained about the mother nature and our natural world, we should all learn to Pledge of Allegiance to our MOTHER EARTH. that gives us all life.
Doing good for humans and our world, can not earn money, creating problems and not helping humans and the world can earn money. taking what we can't take with us earn money like natural resources, human suffering because of disease hunger poverty. Things we can take with us such as good feelings heeling others to get well, take away poverty and hunger. doing good we can enrich our inside. make us promote life for all living and our world.
All Man made laws are driven to make money, the true and honest laws are laws of Nature.
As a human there are actual laws that exist that support and renew life.
They are,
If you don't sleep,
If you don't get enough rest

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. While sex is a natural act, a large part of our meaning and experiences around sex is shaped by our cultural upbringing. Female sexuality, in particular, is layered with negative judgments and shame that control women's bodies and minds. The silence around this sexual shame impacts the sexual climate for everyone. Yet there are simple, every day acts each person can do to make a difference to reduce their shame or that of others, and allow for the beauty of human connection.
Jennifer Gunsaullus, PhD, passionately challenges people to sexually think outside the box. As a sociologist, sexuality speaker, and relationship & intimacy counselor, she creates safe spaces for the taboo topic of sex. Dr. Jenn is a frequent speaker about healthy relationships, body image, erotic play, sexual health, and mindful sexuality, and she presented a TEDxAFC Women Talk entitled Sex: Mind full or Mindful?
Dr. Jenn is a writer for The Good Men Project, a regular “sexpert” on San Diego morning news, and co-authored the eBook, “Am I Normal? A Woman’s Guide to Female Sexuality.” Check out her over 200 free videos on YouTube in her In the Den with Dr. Jenn video series.

2. How did people explain behavior before the theory of evolution?
3. What helped us move into different theories of human nature?
4. Are our policies affected by theories of human nature?
5. How to think about individual responsibility in a world where psychology has biological origins?

Step aside Valeria Lukyanova, there's a new Human Barbie in town, and extraordinarily, she's been raised as a living doll since she was born.
Angelica Kenova, a 26-year-old model from Moscow, Russia, still lives with her hyper-controlling parents, who have been honing her drastic look all her life - dictating her diet and exercise programme so she can maintain her miniature six-stone frame.
'Growing up, my parents raised me like a princess and never let me go out, date boys or have the usual adult experiences,' Angelica says. 'As a result, I am not fit for real life - I'm like a living doll.'
Angelica has been dressed up as a Barbie doll since birth and is only allowed to go on dates if her mother, Natalia, accompanies her.
Yet bizarrely, the diminutive blonde - who claims to be a child psychologist and a ballet dancer as well as a model - regularly poses for half-n*ked photos, which her parents approve of.
Angelica maintains that her walking-talking doll looks were achieved without plastic surgery and has amassed thousands of fans on social media.
She boasts the same unrealistic body proportions and wide-eyed features as a Barbie, with a tiny 20-inch waist and a 32E bra-size.
'I have never had plastic surgery,' she insists. 'Cosmetic work is only necessary when an individual has serious faults with their face or body.'
Angelica - who has one older brother, Roman - still lives with her parents and can only date men with their absolute approval - which has so far never happened.
'My mother and father don't want me to move out of the family home,' she says.
'I'm not even allowed to buy clothes without my mum there - she likes to choose attire that clings to my figure and emphasize my good features.
'My mother also demands that she accompanies on any dates. I have to book a table for three people so she can sit at the same table whilst my date and I have dinner.
'So I've never had a proper boyfriend. All the boys I know are just friends unfortunately.'
Angelica says that her mother and father, Evegniy, are keen to see her succeed as a model and are 'proud' of her raunchy photo shoots.
'Since I was a child, my parents styled me as a Barbie so I'm glad that I'm equated to one - Barbie is the idol of girls around the world.'
Growing up, Angelica was given the most extravagant upbringing and education that money could buy.
'My parents called me "the princess". They always bought me the best toys,' she remarks.
'They sent me to the most prestigious educational establishments around and took great care to protect me from any problems.
'You could say my parents gave me too much attention. I was not allowed to do anything without their say-so.'
One thing she was always permitted to do, of course, was dress like a doll.
'I did not choose this image of a doll myself, my parents did. When I turned six, my mum started buying me collectible Barbie dolls and enthusiastically dressing me up like one.
'My mother was also very beautiful in her youth,' Angelica says. 'She looked like Brigitte Bardot. She loved Barbie's slender beauty, golden curls, cute face and beautiful clothes, and urged me to be exactly the same.'
Angelica recalls: 'I would pose in the mirror for hours and put on performances for my parents' friends. Everyone nicknamed me the Russian Barbie.'
From then on, Angelica made it her mission to emulate the famous figurine, to the joy of her parents.
'When I became a teenager, my parents hired a personal trainer who created an individual training programme for me,' she explains.
'He has designed exercises which will help me tone my buttocks and hone my narrow waist.
'I work out with him for two to three hours, five times per week, to maintain my beautiful figure. He makes me do a mixture of weight training and cardio. I jog in the mornings too.
'My personal trainer also advises me on my nutrition although I do not want to reveal my diet - it's a secret.'
Angelica says she receives hundred of letters from fans, and advises her followers to always smile and love themselves.
'That is one of the secrets to natural beauty,' she claims.
Looking to the future, Angelica says she would love to be P**yboy P**ymate one day. As for moving out and living alone, this seems unlikely any time soon.
'Given how old I am, I should be independent but my parents insist I still live with them. I understand that it's bad that my mother accompanies me on dates with me and I should be independent by now but I just can't.
'I really love my family and I don't want to upset them. If I ever decided to live apart or do something against their will, it would be a scandal.'

BAD UPBRINGING
Whilst this may seem harsh, human nature may dictate that the lady assumes you have been brought up poorly by your parents or you were not able to adhere to the rules and guidelines that your parents and teachers throughout school imposed on you regarding manners and swearing.
Whether this is true of your upbringing or not, perception is reality and your foul mouth won't be getting you any closer to a first date with this lady.
UNEDUCATED
In a similar way, the lady may also assume that you were poorly educated in an environment that did not value common manners and social etiquette.
You may have attended the most prestigious schools or higher education facilities but if your words and actions don't reflect this, people sometimes have no choice but to paint pictures in their minds and connect their own dots as to to why you talk and act in a certain way.
BAD INFLUENCES
Women may also hear you swearing and assume that you are a product of your surroundings and that all your friends and family talk and act in a similar way.
If the lady can't see herself spending time with your friends and family this will weigh on her decision to pursue any type of future with yourself.
EMBARRASSING
A lady may think you are very attractive, nice and that you have a lot going for you. But if you swear excessively to the point that the lady feels embarrassed to be in your company, this may be enough on it's own to deter her from wanting to get to know you better.
INCONSIDERATE
Like myself, I'm sure you've all encountered somebody on public transport who was using their mobile phone and swearing frequently in a loud voice throughout their conversation with no regard for the fellow passengers.
Whilst they obviously have no problem with swearing, by doing so these people are actually displaying a high level of inconsideration to those people around them that may take great offence to profanity.
Being inconsiderate is one of the ugliest traits a person can possess so have a good think about whether or not you want to turn girls off with the thought that you too are an inconsiderate guy.
So if you do swear excessively and today's article has made you consider the possibility that this could be one of the biggest turn offs for girls, you may want to make a conscious effort to curb this bad habit for the benefit of the impressions you make on others and the relationships you build or don't build as a result.
Swearing does have an element of habit attached to it making the conscious effort to control this habit is sure to benefit your abilities to attract women and not turn them off.

“And one may well feel that if the soul has not at some time found itself faced in utmost seriousness by the problem of free will or necessity it will not have reached its full stature.”
-Rudolf Steiner, in the Preface to The Philosophy of Freedom
Welcome to the study group.
I will start with a brief introduction to Chapter One, Conscious Human Action.
The Philosophy Of Freedom begins with the question, Are we free in our thought and action, or inescapably controlled by necessity?
The common belief is that we are free, at least some of the time.
Freedom is implied in many of the things we say, and many of the attitudes we take.
Suppose tomorrow is a holiday.
You are considering what to do.
You can climb a mountain or read a book.
You can fix your bicycle or go to the zoo.
At this moment you are watching this video.
You are free to stop now or continue to watch, right?
Many scientists consider free will to be an illusion.
Science sees no reason why the uniformity of natural law would be broken in the field of human action and thought.
The fact that we are physical creatures in a physical world subjects us to well established natural laws, including cause and effect.
Free will is an illusion that results from not being aware of the hidden causes that determine our action.
Laws of behavior are established by natural factors such as genes, brain chemistry, and hormones.
Behavior is also conditioned by social factors such as upbringing and cultural experience.
According to science, the causes that determine human behavior are far too complex to ever understand.
Between us and our action is natural law.
But if we are automatons, we would simply do whatever we were pre-programmed to do.
Without free will we cannot hold people morally accountable for their actions.
How can we judge others if they are not responsible for their actions?
Moralists believe we must have free will in order to do righteous acts.
The divine creator gave us free will. Its as simple as that!
The downside of such a resolution is that it is not based upon knowledge. It is faith.
Free will is to be used to choose between good and evil.
According to moralists, the real choice we have is to obey divine laws or not obey them.
If we are unsure of what to do, we have spiritual leaders who will tell us what pleases or displeases the god who rules the world.
Between us and our action is divine law.
http://philosophyoffreedom.com/
Others use endless distinctions to explain how human freedom can be compatible with natural or divine determinism.
The only thing that could actually support the strong free will that is commonly believed in is self-origination.
The reasons (laws) for why we act do not originate in nature or god, they originate in our self.
Between us and our action is a law that we originate.
The Philosophy Of Freedom tackles the age-old question of freedom in a new and unique way.
As the title of Chapter One states, we are interested in conscious human activity.
By retrospectively examining our thoughts related to the deed, we can find the ideas that guide our action.
And if these ideas originate from the world of our ideals, where only we can determine them, then our actions are free.
We originate an ideal principle from the world of our ideals and creatively translate it into a clear picture of what we want to bring about.
What we have envisioned determines our action.
This is important for without self-determination there can be no individual growth or personal responsibility.
The history of the discussion of free will is rich and remarkable.
Hundreds of explanations of what it means to be 'free' have been distinguished.
Lets start by asking each of our panel members; What kind of freedom do you value the most?
What is the freedom that you are striving for?

Steven Pinker is Johnstone Family Professor in the Department of Psychology at Harvard University. His research on language and cognition has won prizes from the National Academy of Sciences, the Royal Institution of Great Britain, the American Psychological Association, and the Cognitive Neuroscience Society. Dr. Pinker has also received several teaching awards and many prizes for his nine books, including The Language Instinct (1994), How the Mind Works (1997), The Blank Slate: The Modern Denial of Human Nature (2002), and The Better Angels of Our Nature: Why Violence Has Declined (2011). He has been named Humanist of the Year by the American Humanist Society, and has been listed among Foreign Policy magazine's "The World's Top 100 Public Intellectuals" and Time's "The 100 Most Influential People in the World Today." Dr. Pinker is currently Chair of the Usage Panel of the American Heritage Dictionary, and writes frequently for The New York Times, Time, The New Republic, and other publications. His most recent book is The Sense of Style: The Thinking Person's Guide to Writing in the 21st Century (2014).
ABSTRACT
The Past: Contrary to the popular impression view that we are living in extraordinarily violent times, rates of violence at all scales have been in decline over the course of history.
The Present: Human nature comprises faculties that encourage violence, such as dominance and revenge, but also faculties that inhibit it, such as self-control, empathy, and reason. The level of violence in a given society depends on how its norms and institutions affect the balance between them.
The Future: I speculate on how some of the historical changes that reduced violence in the past might be purified and concentrated to reduce violence in the future.

What’s more, Pinker argues, despite the global carnage of the last century, modernity is actually making us less violent.
So how do we encourage the further decline of violence? How do we foster increasingly peaceful societies? What is the role of reason in that process? What do continued acts of violence tell us about our society? And how does the reduction of physical aggression transform the nature of power?
To help us begin to answer these vital questions, Professor Pinker will discuss the insights from his important new book, The Better Angels of Our Nature: A History of Violence and Humanity, with philosopher Robert Rowland Smith. They will discuss Pinker’s analysis of how modernity’s cultural institutions – art, religion, planned government, progressive ideology, international trade and even table manners – influence our attitude to arms. Whether you agree with him or not, this is a rare opportunity to examine the forces that replace violence with one of the most influential thinkers of our time.
Steven Pinker is Harvard College Professor and Johnstone Family Professor in the Department of Psychology at Harvard University. He conducts research on language and cognition, writes for publications such as the New York Times, Time and The New Republic, and is the author of eight books, including The Language Instinct, How the Mind Works, Words and Rules, The Blank Slate, The Stuff of Thought, and most recently The Better Angels of Our Nature: Why Violence Has Declined.

Hate or love Donald Trump? STOP! Please watch this video. Comment if you agree or disagree.
As an entertainer, I try to stick to light-hearted topics that make people laugh or smile. I understand that's why people follow me. While I am fortunate to have amassed a worldwide audience (in large part thanks to my "How to Dance Like A Boss" video), it's only natural that a large portion of my audience is going to be Latino, especially since I include a lot of my Mexican-American upbringing in my content.
Recently, I made a few posts that have literally cost me a few hundred subscribers/followers. The posts revolve around Donald Trump and the alarming things that have been happening in the United States around race, ethnicity, nationality, and politics. While most of the posts have been funny ("Tiburcio For President", "The Real Reason Trump Hates Mexicans", “Can We Keep Their Tacos?", etc. ) some have not. For example, the link to the article I mention in the video.
I've always said that comedy is a serious business. It requires analytical though and finding humor in things most others simply don't pay attention to. However, what I have been seeing recently in the news, social media, and the real world is no laughing matter. As a socially conscious human being, I have to take a stand. But as a Latino with a platform, I have a responsibility to say something.
As a human race, we have been down this path before. Dehumanizing and blaming a nation’s problems and a group of individuals is very dangerous. I urge you, regardless of your stance on the #immigration issue, take a stand against violence and intolerance.
I leave you with this quote from the Museum of Tolerance website:
“…it is crucial for all of us to give new meaning to the word ‘tolerance’ and understand that our ability to value each and every person is the ethical basis for peace, security and intercultural dialogue. A peaceful future depends on our everyday acts and gestures. Let us educate for tolerance in our schools and communities, in our homes and workplaces and, most of all, in our hearts and minds.”

Pixee Fox describes her struggle as similar to that of a transgender person and says she finally feels like her appearance reflects the person she is on the inside
A surgery loving human Barbie doll who had six ribs removed has said she felt trapped in her old body - and described her struggle as similar to that of a transgender person.
Former electrician Pixee Fox had already spent more than £80,000 on plastic surgery alone attempting to sculpt the perfect hourglass figure.
But now she has taken her obsession even further by having her lower ribs removed - so she can shrink her waist to a record-breaking 14 inches.
The 25-year-old says she was inspired by animated characters like Jessica Rabbit, Aurora from Sleeping Beauty and Holli Would from Cool World.
Pixee, from Sweden, said: "People often come up to me and say, 'don't take this the wrong way, but you look like a cartoon' - but for me that's a compliment, that's what I want to achieve."
"Those cartoon characters represent the idealisation of the female body. I want to achieve that ideal," she continued.
"There are so many people out there - for example transsexual people - who feel like one person inside and it doesn’t reflect their outside - and for me who I was on the outside was not who I was on the inside.
"I want to have the tiny waist, the butt, big boobs, big eyes and a really pretty face. Having my ribs removed was just another step in achieving that ideal."
The extreme five-hour keyhole surgery operation cost £6,000 and was performed by plastic surgeon Dr Barry Eppley in Indianapolis, Indiana in October.
The operation, which is irreversible, is usually performed for medical reasons but can be used for cosmetic purposes after extensive consultation.
Pixee said: "Getting my ribs removed has always been a dream of mine but it was really hard, almost impossible, to find a surgeon to do it.
"The only reason I have been able to do it now is that doctors finally started taking me seriously because they can see I'm not a crazy person and that I know what I'm doing."
The recovery was supposed to take six weeks but Pixee was already back into her normal routine and wearing a corset just two days after.
She said "I can see the results and feel the difference.
"Before the corset would push against the ribs, which makes it harder and more painful to wear.
"Now I can wear it even tighter without any pain."
"I think I am pretty close to the world record for smallest waist. If I just get time to heal and workout and continue my lifestyle I'm going to go down to 14 inches."
The current record holder is American Cathie Jung, 78, who has a 15-inch waist.
With her lower ribs removed, Pixee's lower internal organs, including the liver, have lost some of their natural protection - but she isn't worried.
She said: "Before if I was in a car crash I would normally break my ribs. If that happened now I'm probably going to break my spleen instead.
"But I'm not concerned as I have my corset as my artificial ribcage now and I wear it 24/7."
Her new look and lifestyle is a far cry from her upbringing living with her parents and older sister in a small rural town outside of Stockholm, Sweden.
The blonde, who stands at 5ft 4in, said: "Sweden is a very egalitarian country which does not encourage you to stand out."
"I didn't feel like I fitted in," she said. "I was a tomboy. I worried about my nose, I didn't date and I felt vulnerable."
After leaving school she trained as an electrician and saved up £1,560 for a nose job.
Her boyfriend at the time then encouraged her to have two boob jobs that took her from an A to a C-cup.
But it was after splitting from him in 2013 that her obsession to become a real-life cartoon really picked up.
In total she has had four rhinoplasties costing £12,600; four breast augmentations of 200cc, 525cc, 800cc and 1400cc costing £26,500; two rounds of liposuction at £4,600; two upper eyelid surgeries at £5,300; a labiaplasty costing £3,300; a Brazilian butt lift at £8,000 and cool-sculpting, cheek injections, and lip injections at about £10,600.
Including the rib surgery she estimates she has spent £80,000 on surgery alone.
But taking into account lost wages, medicines and travel, she estimates it has cost her about £165,000.
It has taken Pixee’s measurements from 30-24-34 to an eye-watering 38-16-39.
To maintain her shape, she works out seven days a week for up to five hours a day.
She also keeps to a healthy diet incorporating lots of vegetables, fruit, nuts and extra vitamins - but often drinks them in a smoothie as eating a large piece of bread or meat is hard when wearing a corset.
Her whole lifestyle is tailored around living what she calls 'the bimbo life'.
