Gifford Pinchot (August 11, 1865 – October 4, 1946) was an American forester and politician. Pinchot served as the first Chief of the United States Forest Service from 1905 until his firing in 1910, and was the 28th Governor of Pennsylvania, serving from 1923 to 1927, and again from 1931 to 1935. He was a member of the Republican Party for most of his life, though he also joined the Progressive Party for a brief period.
Pinchot is known for reforming the management and development of forests in the United States and for advocating the conservation of the nation's reserves by planned use and renewal. He called it "the art of producing from the forest whatever it can yield for the service of man." Pinchot coined the term conservation ethic as applied to natural resources. Pinchot's main contribution was his leadership in promoting scientific forestry and emphasizing the controlled, profitable use of forests and other natural resources so they would be of maximum benefit to mankind. He was the first to demonstrate the practicality and profitability of managing forests for continuous cropping. His leadership put conservation of forests high on America's priority list.
Mary Eno Pinchot Meyer (October 14, 1920 – October 12, 1964) was an American socialite, painter, former wife of Central Intelligence Agency official Cord Meyer and mistress of United States president John F. Kennedy. Meyer's murder, two days before her 44th birthday, in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C., during the fall of 1964 would later stir speculation relating to Kennedy's presidency and assassination. In her 1998 biography, Nina Burleigh wrote, "Mary Meyer was an enigmatic woman in life, and in death her real personality lurks just out of view."
Pinchot was the elder of two daughters born to Amos and Ruth (née Pickerling) Pinchot. Amos Pinchot was a wealthy lawyer and a key figure in the Progressive Party who had helped fund the socialist magazine The Masses. Her mother Ruth was Pinchot's second wife who was a journalist that wrote for magazines such as The Nation and The New Republic. She was also the niece of Gifford Pinchot, a noted conservationist and two-time Governor of Pennsylvania. Pinchot and her younger sister Antoinette (nicknamed "Tony") were raised at the family's Grey Towers home in Milford, Pennsylvania. As a child, Pinchot met left-wing intellectuals such as Mabel Dodge, Louis Brandeis, Robert M. La Follette, Sr., and Harold L. Ickes. She attended Brearley School and Vassar College, where she became interested in communism. She dated William Attwood in 1938 and while with him at a dance held at Choate Rosemary Hall she first met John F. Kennedy.
State may refer to:
The War on Drugs is an American term commonly applied to a campaign of prohibition of drugs, military aid, and military intervention, with the stated aim being to reduce the illegal drug trade. This initiative includes a set of drug policies that are intended to discourage the production, distribution, and consumption of psychoactive drugs that the participating governments and the UN have made illegal. The term was popularized by the media shortly after a press conference given on 18 June 1971, by United States President Richard Nixon—the day after publication of a special message from President Nixon to the Congress on Drug Abuse Prevention and Control—during which he declared drug abuse "public enemy number one". That message to the Congress included text about devoting more federal resources to the "prevention of new addicts, and the rehabilitation of those who are addicted", but that part did not receive the same public attention as the term "war on drugs". However, two years even prior to this, Nixon had formally declared a "war on drugs" that would be directed toward eradication, interdiction, and incarceration. Today, the Drug Policy Alliance, which advocates for an end to the War on Drugs, estimates that the United States spends $51 billion annually on these initiatives.

Plot: The Yosemite Valley Railroad, which runs through the breathtaking scenery and stunning vistas of Yosemite National Park, is on the brink of failure. The grandson of a Chinese railroad laborer embarks on a romantic, but ultimately doomed, quest to save this railroad from being sold for scrap. His love of trains finds him working as a railroad-man, instead of at his father's profitable business. He manages to locate a wealthy eccentric investor to help him acquire the railroad, but its financial inviability makes this a quixotic reprieve, at best. The film also portrays the anti-Asian racism present in America at the conclusion of World War II.

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. This fascinating and convincing talk re-focuses the conversation about climate change so we can be part of the solution, and have fun while we're doing it. Gifford is currently President of Pinchot University, and has also been an organic dairy farmer, a blacksmith, an author, an innovation consultant, software CEO, and an angel investor. His bestselling book “Intrapreneuring” introduced a new way of fostering innovation by creating space for innovators to express their entrepreneurial spirit within existing organizations. “The Intelligent Organization,” written with his wife, takes self- organization a step further, to include the everyday work of ordinary employees. Did JFK take LSD? What did he experience? Did JFK achieve Nirvana? Did he become a greater threat to The Establishment through his LSD use? Josef Goebbels said, " The Truth is the greatest enemy of the State." Truth can be divided into two forms, organic (consciousness) and inorganic (idea). Though both forms are dangerous to the State, the former is more dangerous than the latter. The State protects itself from inorganic Truth (i.e. real history) through media-controlled deception. It protects itself from organic Truth (i.e.mind-expansion) through the “War on Drugs.” The "War on Drugs" is obviously not a war on ALL drugs. The State flourishes when the pharmaceutical, alcohol and tobacco companies flourish. The State even loves the opiates, insuring the steady flow to the populace (s...

Our dommed empire´s in decay
the silent man cast us away
from the place where light´s the answer
he's pointing at us, he´s wrathful, poor scorned angels
Scorned angels
the promised land is hidden
scorned angels
will we find the way?
He's wrathful, he observes all
now we hear his blaming call
compulsive visions, compulsive eyes
compulsive yearning, compulsive cries
blame our evil
blame our way to detest
blame, you threw us in this place
blame these fingers
blame our highest dreams
blame, you threw us in this place
Scorned angels
the promised land is hidden
Scorned angels
will we find the way?
Scorned angels
A loud voice is calling
Scorned angels
all words sound the same
Scorned angels
never see
never see
Scorned angels
will never flee
we will never flee
In this land without wings
we won`t ever, ever dream
We´re blind, we can´t see
we`re just here to serve our destiny
We can`t fight to defend
the creation that will bring the end
