Assault, attempted rape, death, mutilation, chases and fear all play a role in this bizarre film Noir movie in which the viewer is never sure what is real, what is dream, what is hallucination.Althought this film was Orginally released as Dementia in 1953 it had no narration and was considered too confusing. Not until it was re-released with narration as The Daughter of Horror in 1955 did it really NOT take off. ;-) . The New York Board of Censorship had this movie banned from theaters for 3 years, and it didn't see release until 1958.This film received scant distribution. And only became well known when footage from it was used in the theatre sequence of the highly popular release The Blob (1958).
