Port Hedland

Port Hedland is an economically significant port in the Pilbara area of Western Australia, and is a major port for shipping - over 70 million tonnes of product are shipped internationally from the port every year.

Port Hedland's facilities are particularly important to the mining industry in the Pilbara region, especially the Goldsworthy mine and the BHP Billiton Iron Ore facility. Port Hedland's climate is hot, experiencing temperatures of between 36.4 °C (97.5 °F) and 27.1 °C (80.8 °F).

The port has a population of 15,044 people, with 22.3% of them working as Technicians and Tradespeople 19.2% working as Professionals and 19.2% in some sort of managerial position.

Port Hedland is mostly known for its port industry, its unique wildlife where one can see whales, dolphins and shares and its historical museums and buildings. It also has a range of accommodation for its many visitors, from backpackers to business travellers.
