Northern Territory

The Northern Territory is Australia's third largest federal division yet has the lowest population of all the nation's 8 states and territories. It is home to approximately 233, 30 people and covers around1,349,129 square kilometres. The history of the region is very rich and can be traced back to 40,000-60,000 years ago when Indigenous Australians were first believed to settle the area. Darwin is the territories capital and other notable locations are Alice Springs, Katherine, Nhulunbuy, and Tennant Creek.

Major tourist attractions include the Kakadu National Park and the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park in which the world-famous sandstone monolith Uluru (commonly known as Ayers Rock) is situated. Uluru is greatly significant to Australia's Indigenous peoples, particularly to the Anangu people who are the traditional owners of the land encompassing Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. The landscape of the Northern Territory is incredible and features numerous National Parks, wetlands, wildlife havens and widespread sets of river systems.
