Maroochydore Area

The Maroochydore area is located on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland Australia about 98 kilometers from Brisbane.

Its name was derived from the word "murukutchi-dha" which is an indigenous word that means "the place of the red bills" the name of a black swan that was seen in the area. Maroochydore is the sixth town that is mentioned in the Australian version of the song "I've been everywhere" by Geoff Mack in 1959.

Maroochydore has a population of 47,645 and the weather is classified as perfect all year round and is known for being a great holiday destination to wind down and relax and spend endless care free hours on their perfect beaches or watching the beauty of nature Maroochydore has to offer.

Maroochydore's predominant features are the Sunshine plaza shopping centre, top shots fun park and Australia zoo which was the home of the famous crocodile hunter.
