Goulburn Region

The Goulburn region may be a two-hour drive southwest of Sydney, but this fascinating area is worth the visit. With a population of just over 21,000, The City of Goulburn became the first inland city established in Australia, in 1863. Interestingly, George Lazenby, a popular actor, was born in the city. This long legacy means that there are plenty of interesting cathedrals and other unique architectural delights to see in the area.

Settlers, gold rushers, and all-around adventurers carved the Goulburn region out of the bush many years ago. Now, we have many picturesque villages and suburbs to enjoy thanks to their efforts. As it was in its original days, wool production and other agricultural activities provide the major exports for this area, and it has also become associated with thriving wineries.

As one of the oldest cities in Australia, Goulburn has a lot of interesting historical sites, governmental buildings, museums, and other noteworthy attractions. It is within this city that you can even see the world's largest concrete sheep.
