Boroondara Area

The suburbs along the eastern edge of Melbourne create what is recognized as the City of Boroondara. This region encompasses approximately 60 square kilometres and is home to nearly 160,000 residents. This city consistently ranks highly among its citizens and was recently ranked first in a community satisfaction survey conducted throughout Victoria. In 1837, the first European settlers (John Gardiner and his family) settled in the city.

Boroondara is divided among ten different wards, each of which has multiple suburbs. This region is known for being highly educated and having one of the highest concentrations of students in the nation. Not only are there numerous prestigious public and private schools, but there are five libraries located within Boroondara.

The suburbs of Boroondara are located as little as 5 kilometres east of Melbourne's central business district, putting them conveniently close to many large, commercial areas. This location also means that numerous railway stations and bus routes service the city.
