A marketing assistant is an entry level role into marketing. They usually work 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday in an office environment in a range of different industries. This isn't a role that requires you to be chained to your desk. Marketing assistants offer support to the marketing team by carrying out basic tasks to keep the department functioning and facilitating.
The basic day to day tasks can vary and depend on the type of organisation and generally work under a marketing manager. Tasks may include organising market research, coordinating meetings, assist with marketing campaigns, writing promotional material, writing press releases or tenders, ordering marketing materials, assist in organising events, communicating with clients and writing reports.
A marketing assistant role grows overtime. It is a mixture of administration and marketing and if you are looking to further your career in marketing this will be the job for you providing you with a foot in the door.
You will be required to have knowledge of the principles or selling and marketing products or services.
A successful marketing assistant will be confident, highly organised, can work under pressure with plenty of energy and a great attitude.
They need to be determined and be able to multitask while continuing to have a strong attention to detail.
