On the Ball may refer to:
The Ball is a Caroline comedy by James Shirley, first performed in 1632 and first published in 1639.
The Ball was licensed for performance by Sir Henry Herbert, the Master of the Revels, on 16 November 1632. Herbert, however, was not happy with the play: in a note in his office book dated two days later, 18 November, he complained that the play showed "diverse personated so naturally, both of lords and others of the Court, that I took it ill, and would have forbidden the play" — but impresario Christopher Beeston promised Herbert that everything that Herbert disliked in the play would be fixed before performance. The desired changes must have been made satisfactorily, since the play was acted by Queen Henrietta's Men at the Cockpit Theatre.
The 1639 quarto publication of the play, printed by Thomas Cotes for the booksellers Andrew Crooke and William Cooke, caused confusion in subsequent generations of critics, since the title page attributes the play to both Shirley and George Chapman. The play, a light comedy of manners, is entirely like the style of Shirley, and nothing like the style of Chapman. Most scholars now think that the dual attribution is simply a mistake, a point of confusion by the publishers: The Tragedy of Chabot, Admiral of France, a Chapman play that had been revised by Shirley, was printed in the same year by the same house.

McKinney is a city in and the county seat of Collin County, Texas, United States, and the second in population to Plano. As of the 2010 census, the city's population was 131,117, making it the 19th-most populous city in Texas. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, and is located about 37 miles (60 km) north of Dallas.
The Census Bureau listed McKinney as the nation's fastest-growing city from 2000 to 2003 and again in 2006, among cities with more than 50,000 people. In 2007, it was ranked second fastest-growing among cities with more than 100,000 people and in 2008 as third fastest. The most recent population estimate, produced by the city as of January 1, 2015, is 155,142.
On March 24, 1849, William Davis, who owned 3,000 acres (12 km2) where McKinney now stands, donated 120 acres (0.49 km2) for the townsite. Ten years later, McKinney incorporated, and in 1913, the town adopted the commission form of government.
For the first 125 years of its history, McKinney served as the principal commercial center for the county. The county seat provided farmers with flour, corn, and cotton mills, cotton gins, a cotton compress, and a cottonseed oil mill, as well as banks, churches, schools, newspapers, and from the 1880s, an opera house. Businesses also came to include a textile mill, an ice company, a large dairy, and a garment-manufacturing company. The population grew from 35 in 1848 to 4,714 in 1912. By 1953, McKinney had a population of more than 10,000 and 355 businesses. The town continued to serve as an agribusiness center for the county until the late 1960s.
Michael O'Keefe (born April 24, 1955) is an American film and television actor, widely known for his role as Danny Noonan in Caddyshack and his role as Ben Meechum in The Great Santini — for which he received Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year as well as a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
O'Keefe was born Raymond Peter O'Keefe, Jr. in Mount Vernon, New York, the oldest of seven children in a devoutly Roman Catholic Irish American family. He is the son of Stephanie (née Fitzpatrick) and Raymond Peter O'Keefe, who was a law professor at Fordham University, and also taught at St. Thomas University. O'Keefe grew up in Larchmont, New York and attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and New York University, and made his acting debut in a 1970 Colgate television commercial.
He is a cousin of playwright Will Eno.
O'Keefe's widely known film role is Danny Noonan in the comedy film Caddyshack. He received a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for his role as the oldest son of a Marine aviator in The Great Santini, starring Robert Duvall, also nominated for an Academy Award for the film. He played a Marine in 1980 in the miniseries A Rumor of War as the friend of Brad Davis' character, Philip Caputo, and played the lead role in the 1982 film, Split Image, as an all-American college athlete who gets lured into a religious cult by a beautiful girl (Karen Allen). He has also appeared in the thriller film The Glass House, and starred with Tommy Lee Jones in the 1983 pirate adventure Nate and Hayes (also known as Savage Islands). More recently, O'Keefe appeared opposite George Clooney in Michael Clayton. He has appeared twice opposite Jack Nicholson, as his son in Ironweed and as the father of a murdered girl in The Pledge. His film Frozen River was in the competition at the Sundance Film Festival in 2008. He also plays the powerful District Attorney Calvin Beckett in the film American Violet.

It is not uncommon for many of us, at some point in our career, to want to go off and "do our own thing", to chase dreams, to be free to let life dictate business instead of business dictating life. For Steve Matzke his dreams are not exactly joining the circus but clearly he enjoys having three rings going at a time. Matzke did the stockbroker thing. He enjoyed it during the good times and not so much during the bad. Retirement didn't work out exactly as planned so he did the next best thing; he opened a Christmas tree lot. Next he added a fireworks stand and then a pumpkin patch. Finally, last summer Matzke designed and built a pirate ship and turned it into a shaved ice business, Scallywags. Today Scallywag Refreshments has multiple outlets and Matzke's growth plans include possibl...
"I design people's dreams, Mother Nature is my teacher." This is the lead to Michael O'Keefe's Facebook page for his business, Creative By Nature, Inc. But when he is not designing those dreams, Michael can often be found photographing many people's nightmares as part of his second business, First Response Photography. O'Keefe is one of those guys who gets around because he always has an iron in the fire. By day he runs a Garden Design Center in McKinney and by the same day, and night, he is chasing the police scanner, trying to capture images that often change people's lives. Many of those images you will probably recognize as First Response is a frequent photo contributor to TownSquareBuzz. He's a picker. He's a grinner. He's a lover. He's a sinner Well, maybe Ted Cantrell isn't all that but he is certainly an artist, a man who understands the value of helping others, and... an Insurance Salesman! When talking about himself Ted is not particularly interested in discussing the insurance business but comes alive when his other passions drive the conversation. Cantrell's name has popped up in leadership positions all his life and over the past decade he has been a key member of the stewardship for two of McKinney's best know non-profits, the Samaritan Inn and the McKinney Education Foundation. You also just might notice his name appears on the wall next to some very unique art in a particular McKinney eatery. Listen in as we learn more about this multifaceted, native M...
Jason Adams was a student of psychology and child development. In an interesting twist he became one of the country's foremost steer wrestlers. His true passion though was not in the capture and domination of cattle. Rather, Adams wanted to better understand consumer behavior and how marketers could define, seek out, and communicate to those consumers. There was one other passion driving Adams -- he had an entrepreneurial spirit in constant need of taming. In 2008 Adams relocated to McKinney, met and married a local girl and initiated new quests built around his entrepreneurial cravings. These days he is partnering with the McKinney Economic Development Corporation (ECDC) launching the Collide Center at the Cotton Mill and his company, Curious Complex, is debuting McKinney Curious. One of TownSquareBuzz's longtime readers contacted me several weeks ago with a suggestion for Stuart J's Lens. His recommendation was a couple by the name of Gilbert and Helen Rogers. I soon came to learn what makes them so special. Octogenarians, (he is in his 80's and she is close to), Gil and Helen lead a group every Friday at the McKinney Senior Recreation Center in the art of... Woodcarving! They joined the center eight years ago as a way of meeting a few new friends and today there are upwards of 60 people who join them to learn and master the woodcarving skill. I got quite a kick chatting with them and I suspect you will enjoy listening in. It surprised me to learn that one can participate at the McKinney Senior Recreation Center when you as young as only 50. They have wonderf...

Sadly, this amazing folk artist (I consider him to be folk-like, reminiscent of James Taylor or Tom Petty) isn't highly acclaimed. I stumbled across this record from my grandfather's collection and I fell in love with it very quickly. I don't know if it's his clean vocals, his great orchestration or the interesting chord progressions that exist in this music, but I love Jonathan Edwards' music. If you know anything from him, it will be Sunshine (B1) or Shanty (A6). A1 Everybody Knows Her (J. Edwards 1:53) A2 Cold Snow (J. Edwards 2:19) A3 Athens County (J. Edwards & J.
