The SASR regiment has high personnel standards, and selection into the regiment is considered the most demanding of any entry test in the Australian Army. Members of the SASR are required to work in small teams for extended periods and often without support, and are specially selected for their ability to work in this environment, rather than as individuals. Selection is open to all serving Australian Defence Force personnel. After initial screening candidates must complete the "Special Forces Barrier Test", which tests their physical fitness. About 80 to 85 percent of applicants pass this phase. Successful candidates then continue on to the 21-day SASR selection course conducted at Bindoon, Western Australia which assesses both the individual's strength and endurance (mental and physical), as well as overall fitness, ability to remain calm in combat, and to work effectively in small teams. The course is conducted by staff from the Special Forces Training Centre, which was established in 1998. Only 25 to 30 percent pass selection. These candidates then progress onto the 18 month reinforcement cycle, during which they will complete a range of courses including weapons, basic patrolling, parachuting, combat survival, signaller / medic, heavy weapons, demolitions, method of entry, and urban combat, before posting to a sabre squadron if successful. Officers must complete additional courses to qualify as an officer in the regiment, with requisite expertise in operations, administration and command. Most candidates are generally in their late-20s and are on average older than most soldiers. Despite a possible reduction in rank, SASR operators receive significant allowances, which make them among the highest-paid soldiers in the Australian Defence Force, with a trooper (equivalent to a private) earning about $100,000 per annum.
All members of the SASR are parachute qualified, and each member of a patrol has at least one specialisation, including medic, signaller, explosive expert or linguist. Each of the three sabre squadrons works on a three-year training and operational cycle, although the system is flexible and can be accelerated or varied depending on operational requirements and deployments. In the first year new members of the regiment develop their individual skills and practice the new techniques they have been taught, while more experienced members undertake advanced courses. In the second year mission skill sets for conventional warfare are trained, while in the third year clandestine tasks are practiced and the squadron becomes the online counter terrorist squadron. Counter terrorist training includes close quarters battle (CQB), explosive entry, tubular assault (in vehicles such as in buses, trains and aircraft) and in high rise buildings, as well as room and building clearance. This training is conducted in a range of advanced facilities, including electronic indoor and outdoor CQB ranges, outdoor sniper range, and urban training facilities at Swanbourne. Additional facilities include a special urban complex, vertical plunging range, method of entry house, and simulated oil rig and aircraft mock-ups in order to provide realistic training environments for potential operational scenarios. SASR personnel also provide training in weapons handling and the use of explosives to intelligence agents and members of elite police units at Swan Island in Victoria.

The Special Air Service (SAS), the British Army's Special Operations Force and rolemodel for almost all present Special Operations Forces around the world. Founded in 1941 as a regiment, and later reconstituted as a corps in 1950 and was later gained fame and recognition worldwide after successfully assaulting the Iranian Embassy in London and rescuing hostages during the 1980 Iranian Embassy siege, lifting the regiment from obscurity outside the military establishment. This special operations force undertakes a number of roles including covert reconnaissance, counter-terrorism, direct action, hostage rescue and human intelligence gathering.
Special Air Service's regular regiment (22 SAS Regiment) has four operational squadrons: A, B, D and G. Each squadron consists of approx. 65 men commanded by a major, divided into four troops. Troops usually consist of 15 men, and each patrol within a troop consists of four men, with each man possessing a particular skill: signals, demolition, medic or linguist in addition to basic skills learned during the course of his training. The four troops specialise in four different areas: Boat, Air, Mobility and Mountain troops.
Following the post-war reconstitution of the Special Air Service, other countries in the Commonwealth recognised their need for similar units. The New Zealand Special Air Service squadron was formed in 1954 to serve with the British SAS in Malaya. Australia formed the 1st SAS Company in July 1957, which became a full regiment of the Australian Special Air Service Regiment (SASR) in August 1964. On its return from Malaya, the C (Rhodesian) Squadron formed the basis for creation of the Rhodesian Special Air Service in 1961.
Non-Commonwealth countries have also formed units based on the SAS. The Belgian Special Forces Group, which wears the same capbadge as the British SAS, traces its ancestry partly from the 5th Special Air Service of the Second World War. The French 1st Marine Infantry Parachute Regiment can trace its origins to the Second World War 3rd and 4th SAS, adopting its "who dares wins" motto. The American unit, Delta Force, was formed by Colonel Charles Alvin Beckwith, who served with 22 SAS as an exchange officer, and recognised the need for a similar type of unit in the United States Army. Ireland's Army Ranger Wing (ARW) has also modelled its training on that of the SAS, as well as Delta Force.
In Sierra Leone SAS took part in Operation Barras, a hostage rescue operation, to extract members of the Royal Irish Regiment. In the Iraq War, it formed part of Task Force Black and Task Force Knight, with A Squadron from 22 SAS were SAS carried out 175 combat missions. Operations against the Taliban in Afghanistan involved soldiers from 21 and 23 SAS Regiments. A significant force of the Special Air Service was deployed to Northern Iraq in late August 2014, tasked to trying to track down the Islamic State terrorist group. In October 2014, the SAS began executing raids against ISIS supply lines in western Iraq, using helicopters to drop light vehicles manned by sniper squads. It has been claimed that the SAS have killed up to eight ISIS fighters per day since the raids began.
OBS. Few clips and footages are with real former SAS operators and other are dramatically reconstruction's of their former operations and activities.

A very rare documentary about the Rhodesian Special Air Service.
The formation of the Rhodesian SAS goes back to November 1959 when it was decided in the Federal Assembly to form a Parachute Evaluation Detachment to examine the practicalities of military parachuting and parachute training in the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland, with a view to the possible formation of an airborne unit. This was announced by the then Federal Minister of Defence John Moore Caldicott, but it was Sir Roy Welensky who was the reported driving force behind the reforming of what was to become the SAS.
In 1960 a detachment of RAF arrived under Squadron Leader E. Minter to conduct the training of the Parachute Evaluation Detachment (PED). By March 1960, the PED was complete and those on the course were presented their wings by the said Minister of Defence. The "experiment" was a complete success and in July decided to form a regular European Special Air Services Squadron. In late 1960, No 1 Training Unit was formed, and once assembled and trained they would form the nucleus of what was to become: 1 Rhodesian Light Infantry (RLI) and "C" Squadron SAS.
In early 1961 six volunteers from the Air Force were sent to RAF Abingdon in England for parachute instructor training and a further group of volunteer officers and NCO's to complete a selection course with the SAS in Britain. On their return they called for volunteers from No. 1 Training Unit and in August 1961 the first of many selection courses was run in the Matopos just outside Bulawayo. No 1 basic training course completed their training in November and were presented their wings by Sir Malcolm Barrow, CBE, MP and then Deputy Prime Minister.
In late 1961 the SAS were moved to Tug Argan Barracks (named after the Battle of Tug Argan, fought 10–15 August 1940), Ndola in Northern Rhodesia along with the Selous Scouts Armoured Car Regiment. By July the following year, No 9 basic course received their wings from the Federal Prime Minister himself, Sir Roy Welensky, KCMG, MP. In August 1962, the Unit had sufficient men to become operational and became known as "C" Squadron (Rhodesian) Special Air Service.
With the breakup of the Federation at the end of 1963, the Squadron was virtually destroyed by many taking the "golden handshake" and some remaining in Northern Rhodesia which included all the officers and the OC at that time. Only 38 NCO's and men remained to serve in Southern Rhodesia. The Unit was relocated to Cranborne Barracks in Salisbury. The initial years after the break-up found the unit having difficulty in attracting recruits. This was largely due to the high standards required of an SAS soldier and also due to the "ill feeling" between the SAS and the RLI (from where most of the recruits should have been selected).
Nevertheless, both the SAS and the RLI played crucial roles in the domestic counter-insurgency effort during the Rhodesian Bush War. The SAS and the Selous Scouts, were the principal special forces units used in external operations. In terms of some of the most important of the external operations, the SAS and RLI both participated in Operation Dingo in November 1977, which was one of the most successful operations conducted during the war.
The numbers of men in the SAS went up to approximately 250 when in June 1978 "C" Squadron (Rhodesian) Special Air Service became 1 (Rhodesian) Special Air Service Regiment.[2] The unit moved to their new barracks called Kabrit in 1979 and continued to serve with outstanding success and distinction[citation needed] until it was disbanded with the transition to black majority rule on 31 December 1980 as Rhodesia became Zimbabwe. "D" Squadron was the "cover" name given to the South African Special Forces, Alpha Group from 1 Reconnaissance Commando (1 RC) & Bravo Group from 5 RC who worked alongside "C" Squadron SAS in the South-East corner of Rhodesia and Gaza Province,of Mozambique both separately and jointly from late 1977 – June 1978. SA personnel were also deployed with Rhodesian SAS on Op Splinter on Lake kariba, in 1978.

The Special Air Service (SAS) is an unit of the British Army established in 1941 as a program, and also later on reconstituted as a corps in 1950. This special forces unit takes on a variety of parts including concealed reconnaissance, counter-terrorism, direct activity, and also human knowledge gathering.
The corps presently consists of 22 Special Air Service Regiment, the normal component, under the operational command of United Kingdom Special Forces, as well as 21 (Musicians) Unique Air Service Program and also 23 Unique Air Service Regiment, which are reserve units under the operational command of 1st Knowledge, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Brigade.
The Unique Air Service traces its origins to 1941 as well as the 2nd War of the nations, as well as was changed as part of the Territorial Military in 1947, called the 21st Unique Air Service Regiment (Artists Rifles). 22 Unique Air Service Routine, part of the regular army, later gained fame and also recognition worldwide after efficiently assaulting the Iranian Embassy in London and also saving hostages throughout the 1980 Iranian Consular office siege, raising the program from obscurity outside the military facility.
The Unique Air Service was an unit of the British Army during the 2nd World Battle, developed in July 1941 by David Stirling as well as initially called "L" Detachment, Unique Air Solution Brigade-- the "L" designation and also Air Solution name being a tie-in to a British disinformation campaign, trying to trick the Axis right into believing there was a paratrooper regiment with various devices running in the area (the real SAS would 'confirm' to the Center that the phony one existed). Due to German resistance and adverse weather condition conditions, the goal was a disaster: 22 men, a 3rd of the device, were gotten rid of or recorded. In September 1942 it was renamed First SAS, consisting at that time of four British squadrons, one Free French, one Greek, and the Folboat Section.
SAS patrol in North Africa throughout WW2.
In January 1943, Stirling was recorded in Tunisia as well as Paddy Mayne replaced him as leader. In April 1943, the First SAS was reorganised into the Unique Raiding Squadron under Mayne's command and the Special Watercraft Squadron was positioned under the command of George Jellicoe. The Special Raiding Squadron fought in Sicily as well as Italy along with the Second SAS, which had actually been formed in North Africa in 1943 partly by the renaming of the Small Scale Raiding Force. The Unique Boat Squadron fought in the Aegean Islands as well as Dodecanese until completion of the war. In 1944 the SAS Brigade was formed from the British 1st as well as 2nd SAS, the French 3rd and Fourth SAS as well as the Belgian 5th SAS. It was charged with parachute uses behind the German lines in France and accomplished procedures assisting the Allied breakthrough via Belgium, the Netherlands (Use Pegasus), as well as eventually into Germany (Operation Archway). As a result of Hitler's releasing of the Commando Order 18 October 1942, the participants of the system faced the added threat that they would certainly be immediately executed if ever caught by the Germans. In July 1944, following Operation Bulbasket, 34 caught SAS commandos were summarily implemented by the Germans. In October 1944, in the results of Operation Loyton 31 caught SAS commandos were summarily carried out by the Germans.

The Special Air Service Regiment, officially abbreviated SASR is an elite special operations force of the Australian Army. Formed in 1957, it was originally modelled on the British SAS sharing the motto, "Who Dares Wins", and draws on the experiences of Australian Services Reconnaissance Department, independent companies, Coastwatchers and M and Z Special Units during World War II. It has been involved in operations in Borneo during the Indonesia–Malaysia confrontation, the Vietnam War, Somalia, Kuwait, East Timor, Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as many other peacekeeping missions. It also provides a counter-terrorist capability, and has been involved in a number of domestic security operations.
A direct command unit of Special Operations Command, the Special Air Service Regiment (SASR) is a special forces unit of the Australian Army and "is tasked to provide special-operations capabilities in support of the Australian Defence Force. This includes providing unique capabilities to support sensitive strategic operations, special recovery operations, advisory and training assistance, special reconnaissance, precision strike and direct action". The SASR is primarily structured to conduct covert long-range reconnaissance and surveillance in small teams in enemy-controlled territory, while commando units are utilised to conduct raids in larger groups. In addition to warfighting during conventional conflicts, the regiment is also tasked with maintaining a specialist counter-terrorist capability. Other capabilities include training local or indigenous forces, recovery of Australian citizens and humanitarian assistance. The SASR is also trained in counter-insurgency operations.

In an unpleasant display of insensitivity , Air India staff refused entry to passengers with valid tickets because they had reached 55 minutes before the flight departure instead of 60 minutes as per these staff members.
As per these passengers, Air India's SMS sent to the cell numbers of the passengers informed them to arrive only 45 minutes before departure.
Despite repeated appeals and arguments from the passengers, the officials kept citing the rules and refused to budge. In this video shot by one of the passengers, Shivendra Namdeo, another female passenger can even be seen crying and begging to be allowed entry.
It is being reported that one of the passenger's mother was in ICU fighting for her life.
Air India is known for addressing customer grievances promptly, The Logical Indian expects the Indian Airways giant to come out with an explanation for this incident as well.

According to the Department of Transportation, officials from the United States and Cuba signed an aviation pact on Tuesday to resume scheduled air service between the two countries for the first time in more than 50 years. The department gave U.S. air carriers 15 days to apply for the opportunity to provide scheduled passenger and cargo flights, launching a process to award the new flights, the statement read. The arrangement allows only 20 round-trip flights per day between the United States and Havana, and 10 daily round-trips to nine other international airports in Cuba.

Need to know how to correctly service a foam type air filter as used on many off-road dirt bikes and ATVs? This video, forming one of the many workshop tasks completed on a 2013 Yamaha Viking shows you how to clean, re-oil and prepare the foam element as part of a service on the vehicle.
Here I use Genuine Yamaha foam filter oil, however, there are many alternatives available on the market including spray on types too, though these work out to be much more expensive and I find them not to apply such an even coating of the filter oil.
Any questions just add them to the comments and I'll do my best to answer them...

Британский спецназ. Освобождение заложников в иранском посольстве (операция Нимрод), Лондон, 5 мая 1980 года.
Special Air Service (SAS) -

The Special Air Service Documentary - British Army Special Forces - BBC Documentary Channel
The Special Air Service (SAS) is the special forces unit of the British Army. The SAS was founded in 1941 as a regiment, and later reconstituted as a corps in 1950.[5] This special forces unit undertakes a number of roles including covert reconnaissance, counter-terrorism, direct action, hostage rescue and human intelligence gathering.[8][10]
The corps presently comprises 22 Special Air Service Regiment, the regular component, under the operational command of United Kingdom Special Forces, and 21 (Artists) Special Air Service Regiment (Reserve) and 23 Special Air Service Regiment (Reserve), which are reserve units under the operational command of 1st Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Brigade.[11]
The Special Air Service traces its origins to 1941 and the Second World War, and was reformed as part of the Territorial Army in 1947, named the 21st Special Air Service Regiment (Artists Rifles). 22 Special Air Service Regiment, part of the regular army, later gained fame and recognition worldwide after successfully assaulting the Iranian Embassy in London and rescuing hostages during the 1980 Iranian Embassy siege, lifting the regiment from obscurity outside the military establishment.
The Special Air Service was a unit of the British Army during the Second World War, formed in July 1941 by David Stirling and originally called "L" Detachment, Special Air Service Brigade—the "L" designation and Air Service name being a tie-in to a British disinformation campaign, trying to deceive the Axis into thinking there was a paratrooper regiment with numerous units operating in the area (the real SAS would 'prove' to the Axis that the fake one existed).[1][13] It was conceived as a commando force to operate behind enemy lines in the North African Campaign[14] and initially consisted of five officers and 60 other ranks.[15] Its first mission, in November 1941, was a parachute drop in support of the Operation Crusader offensive.[13] Due to German resistance and adverse weather conditions, the mission was a disaster: 22 men, a third of the unit, were killed or captured.[16] Its second mission was a success: transported by the Long Range Desert Group, it attacked three airfields in Libya, destroying 60 aircraft with the loss of 2 men and 3 Willys MB.[16] In September 1942 it was renamed 1st SAS, consisting at that time of four British squadrons, one Free French, one Greek, and the Folboat Section.[17]
SAS patrol in North Africa during WW2.
In January 1943, Stirling was captured in Tunisia and Paddy Mayne replaced him as commander.[18] In April 1943, the 1st SAS was reorganised into the Special Raiding Squadron under Mayne's command and the Special Boat Squadron was placed under the command of George Jellicoe.[19] The Special Raiding Squadron fought in Sicily and Italy along with the 2nd SAS, which had been formed in North Africa in 1943 in part by the renaming of the Small Scale Raiding Force.[20][21] The Special Boat Squadron fought in the Aegean Islands and Dodecanese until the end of the war.[22] In 1944 the SAS Brigade was formed from the British 1st and 2nd SAS, the French 3rd and 4th SAS and the Belgian 5th SAS.[23] It was tasked with parachute operations behind the German lines in France[2] and carried out operations supporting the Allied advance through Belgium, the Netherlands (Operation Pegasus), and eventually into Germany (Operation Archway).[23][24] As a result of Hitler's issuing of the Commando Order 18 October 1942, the members of the unit faced the additional danger that they would be summarily executed if ever captured by the Germans. In July 1944, following Operation Bulbasket, 34 captured SAS commandos were summarily executed by the Germans. In October 1944, in the aftermath of Operation Loyton 31 captured SAS commandos were summarily executed by the Germans.
