The new Freddy Krueger was darker, creepier, almost scarier, he doesn't screw around he just gets right down to business. at least the original Freddy has fun beforehand, he let's you think you have a chance of surviving whereas this Freddy just tortures you emotionally and then kills you. Wes Craven's New Nightmare Review I think in terms of the story, this is one of the best in the series.
