At 10 percent of Canada's land surface, BC's landmass is immense, containing a large stretch of temperate rain forest along its Pacific coast. Some of the wettest places in North America are within the province—earning BC the nickname the "wet coast."
For the past decade, the province, including the rainforest, has been affected by the mild winters and drought-like conditions, which culminate in uncharacteristically long lasting fire seasons. This year has been the driest since 1893, when records started, which has lead to more and longer lasting wildfires. Experts are calling the province as a whole the canary in the coal mine.
During the peak wildfire season, hundreds of new fires were being reported every day, and the province struggled to get both the human and financial resources to keep up.
VICE heads to Oliver in the BC's interior to embed with fire crews and Boulder Creek in the coastal BC to look at how the wildfires have affected the fragile BC ecosystem—everything from air quality to the salmon migration have been touched. We talk to firefighters on the ground and in the air, trek through charred forests with environmental scientists, and discuss connections to the climate change with BC's climate experts and hear from activist David Suzuki who tells us "we don't even know enough to know if it's too late."

In the final episode of Keep It Canada's first season, Matty explores organic urban farming in British Columbia with Shira from The Acorn and Paul of Hannah Brook Farms. Matty gets real deep with Paul in a sauna, cuts down a tree with a chainsaw, enjoys a salmon lunch in the foot of the mountains, and bonds with two 1,000-pound pigs before heading back to Vancouver to reconnect with his extremely talkative friends from the band Ladyhawk.
While in Vancouver, Matty explores the city’s Asian food scene, dinning at Meanam and Peaceful Restaurant before stopping at the Granville Island Market to shop for ingredients for a West Coast-inspired Whistler chalet feast. Finally, we head up to the top of Whistler Blackcomb to partake in Matty’s favourite Olympic sport: snow tubing.

This week we take our VW Bus adventure seeker across the glorious province of British Columbia and head into Alberta. We meet some fellow full-time VW dwellers, tackle fire problems both inside and outside the Kombi and face Alaska's first scary encounter with the Canadian wildlife.
We weren't sure if we would be able to visit Alberta, but our first 24hrs was great fun at the 24 Hours of Adrenaline event, and with the footage we have been recording so far, we already can't wait to share what has been happening in next week's video.
We try really hard to make these vlogs more entertaining than your average vlog, but the success of our channel is in your hands... You can have a great impact on our growth by regularly liking, commenting and sharing our videos.
Thanks so much for your support, especially to our Patreons who make all this possible.

We're on a budget adventure following the Panamericana, sharing our VW Bus (Kombi) with everyone that we meet along the way. We will surf the pacific coast on every wave between Chile and Alaska, learn about Latino culture and through this amazing adventure we're going on a voyage of self-discovery as we struggle to keep our VW Bus alive.

At roughly 2 million acres, the Spatsizi Wilderness in northern British Columbia, is the home waters for the Collingwood Family of Spatsizi Wilderness Lodge. This film documents Ray Collingwood's vision, beginning in the late 60's, to operate a world-class rainbow trout fly-fishing lodge with his family. With stunning aerial footage of the Eaglenest Range and Firesteel River Valley, including birds-eye views from Ray Collingwood's multiple float planes, Todd Moen highlights the essence of family in this fly-fishing heaven. This rare and epic day with father-daughter duo, Ray Collingwood and Carrie Collingwood, in a world-class rainbow trout fishery will capture the heart of every angler. There is no doubt about it, the Collingwood Family has it figured out right.

The most important places to visit in Vancouver are: Granville Island (a popular peninsula connected to Vancouver. With it's colorful market, it's a draw amongst locals and visitors alike), Stanley Park (Vancouver wouldn't be the same without Stanley Park, one of the great urban parks. It's a perfect city escape), Chinatown (the second largest Chinatown in North America after San Francisco. It has many unique, as well as traditional shops), Gastown (a national historic site. Explore the cobbled streets, shopping, dining and unique architecture), Grouse Mountain (overlooking Vancouver city, this recreational has winter skiing and even an excellent wildlife refuge) and many more.
This video offers a lot of tips to help you plan the perfect vacation. Travel video about destination Vancouver in Canada.
Vancouver is the third largest city in Canada and one of the most beautiful on the American continent, a dynamic metropolis set in a beautiful location with a temperate climate throughout the year.
Close to the harbor area, the city's skyscrapers have proliferated in recent years. The capital of the southwestern province of British Columbia has developed into an economic centre of renown.
The city's oldest buildings were built less than 100 years ago because the former wooden houses of old Vancouver were destroyed by fire. Several buildings reflect the origin of their inhabitants and are similar to those in the United States and Europe.
Inspired by the Colosseum in Rome, an elegant structure of pink stone and glass, Canada Place, is located in the busy centre of the new harbor district and is also the city's most recent landmark. Close by is Harbor Centre, a modern skyscraper complex with a shopping centre and a Skylift to the top floor. A glass elevator transports visitors to a 167-metre high observation platform where the view across the city, harbor and bay is overwhelming.
The exciting Skytrain is the city's most popular means of transport, an ultra-modern train built on posts that zig zags its way through the city. Each of the city's most important destinations are easily accessible and it has reduced the city's traffic problems considerably.
For the World Exhibition of 1986, on the edge of Chinatown, gardeners and craftsmen from Suzhou, China established Canada's first classical Chinese garden, the Doctor Sun Yat Sen Garden. Its ponds, bridges and small pavilions are similar to those in China, masterpieces of Far Eastern garden design.
Everything in Vancouver is youthful, attractive and dynamic, a place in which Canadian politeness unites with the Pacific way of life!

Welcome to Toronto, the largest city in Canada and a hub of trade and culture.
“The City That Works” is full of a can-do spirit that is reflected in its buildings. From the famous CN Tower to the castle-like Casa Loma, there’s all sorts of eye candy for the architecture enthusiast. Your Toronto tour should include a trip to Edward Gardens in Hyde Park, or one of the many other green spaces located in the city. Take a bike ride along the trails, or enjoy a picnic while the local chipmunks look on. Don’t drop anything; they’ll grab it.
Your Toronto sightseeing can continue at the Harborfront Center. Go for a walk along the marina, or grab a pint at a brewhouse. And no trip to Toronto is complete without a visit to the Hockey Hall of Fame, so make sure you’ve got your team paraphernalia in order before you venture inside. Looking for shopping? You’ll find the Underground City and Kensington Market ready to welcome you and your credit card – or several credit cards, as the case may be. After a day of madcap purchasing, why not stock up on fresh, healthy food at the St. Lawrence Market? You’ll have worked up quite an appetite for delicious local produce.
Before you leave, head to Niagara Falls and take in the spectacle of nature’s power. You’ll never forget the sight and sound of all that water pouring over the falls, nor will you ever forget your trip to Toronto.

Before you leave, head to Niagara Falls and take in the spectacle of nature’s power. You’ll never forget the sight and sound of all that water pouring over the falls, nor will you ever forget your trip to Toronto.

Columbia Lake is the primary lake at the headwaters of the Columbia River, in British Columbia, Canada. It is fed by several small tributaries. The village of Canal Flats is located at the south end of the lake.
Columbia Lake is a fresh water lake located along Highway 93 and 95, between the centres of Canal Flats and Fairmont Hot Springs in British Columbia, Canada.[2] Its average July temperature of 18°C makes it the largest warm water lake in the East Kootenay. It has a typical depth of 15 feet with excellent water clarity as it enjoys a much smaller volume of boat traffic than its northern neighbour, Windermere Lake.
The Kootenay River, a major tributary of the Columbia, passes within a few thousand feet of the south end of the lake. In freshets the Kootenay, here already a large stream, sometimes overflows into Columbia Lake, and historically the Baillie-Grohman Canal connected the two bodies of water to facilitate the navigation of steamboats (although only three trips were ever made through it).

True Paradise- Gulf Islands, British Columbia, Canada
British Columbia’s beautiful Gulf Islands are one of Canada and the world’s biggest tourist destinations. With excellent sports and recreation including boating, hiking, cycling and diving, this year round paradise offers the outdoor adventurer numerous options. Good restaurants and a vast array of arts and crafts add to the mix. Year round festivals and farmer’s markets are found throughout the region.
Made up of over a dozen large islands, the Southern Gulf Islands are interspersed with a multitude of islets too numerous to count. Every island has its’ own unique flavour with Salt Spring Island, the most heavily populated having a rural landscape with a bustling arts and local food community while others like Saturna Island and Thetis Island being less densely populated retreats away from the bustle of civilization. This special west coast Gulf Islands paradise of Canada is a small taste of the Mediterranean, blended with a uniquely Canadian flavour.
The BC Gulf Islands enjoy less than 30 inches of rain per year, highlighted by long dry summers and mild winters. Lying southwest of the Strait of Georgia and north of the US San Juan Islands and along the coast of Vancouver Island between Campbell River to the north and Victoria to the south, this necklace of islands is surrounded by sheltered waters, strong tides, and dramatic coastlines.
The Gulf Islands Guide brings alive the diversity and culture of British Columbia’s beautiful Gulf Island paradise.

This is a story that starts with failure, but ends in a spectacular, high altitude, high level game of hockey played in the mountains of British Columbia.
In November, 2015 conditions were perfect for a mountain top, ice rink at 5,300' in the BC Mountains. A few friends and I spent 2 days shovelling the rink in Thomas Crater, in Golden Ears Provincial Park. This is what it looked like at the end of day #2 of shovelling.
http://i.imgur.com/QlerRGb.jpg
On day 3, I returned with former NHL first round draft pick, Manny Malhotra to finish the rink and prepare it for the upcoming game. Sadly, we realized the weight of the snow we shovelled cracked the ice and water was flooding the corners and boards. We had to abandon the rink and start again.
Thankfully, Manny is a horse and single handedly cleared 70% of the new rink in one afternoon. (I should have brought my skates)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWtHDi6Ve2U
When I returned with a few friends on day 4, I realized the game was in jeopardy. More cracks had developed and rink #2 was also cracking and flooding. We needed to find a new location.
http://i.imgur.com/FixWdUO.jpg
Thats when we found the perfect spot. Just 1 mile away, the wind ripped between the surrounding peaks and peeled 90% of the snow off a gorgeous lake. We did a little shovelling and flooding, and we were ready to go. I returned home at 5pm and started working on logistics.
I managed to get a few other helicopters from Sky Helicopter and my buddy Ed Russell (Skeeter) and they donated their time.

In the mountains of southeastern British Columbia sits Nelson, the home of Shambhala Music Festival—the beating heart of Canada’s bass music scene. With a progressive philosophy emphasizing community and harm reduction, the annual event has been shaking the ground for nearly 20 years.
In part two of SUB.Culture British Columbia, THUMP visits the family owned farm where Shambhala’s stages are built from wood, and people dance like no one’s watching. We talk to the festival’s founder, Jimmy Bundschuh; crowd favourites like Datsik; and Stacey Lock, the harm reduction direction, about what makes the people—and mountain air— of Shambhala so sweet.

Slip into timelessness as you sail through an intricate network of islands (many uninhabited), inlets, and passages to unveil a vastness sure to stir any modern-day explorer. Charted by Captain George Vancouver in the 1790s, this archipelago has been an important trade route to the indigenous peoples of the region for thousands of years. European settlements brought smallpox to the area in the 1770s, by the 1840s the Hudson Bay Company was heavily trading in the Pacific Northwest, and in 1846, the Oregon Treaty established the boundary between Canada and the United States to lie in the middle of the Salish Sea.
