Mesolithic bone point
A short film of the excavation of a 8000-9000 years old bone point. It was found at the raised peat bog Rönneholms mosse in Scania, southern Sweden 2008-08-07. The point was probably used as part of a leister or a fish spear. Parts of resin could be seen at one end.

Stone Age Boatyard Discovered
16 February 2012 Last updated at 06:36 ET Help An 8000-year-old "High Street" has been discovered in the Solent by Hampshire archaeologists. The Hampshire and Wight Trust for Maritime Archaeology has been working on the underwater section near Bouldnor since 1999. However, it was only last summer they discovered the boat-building site, which has not been disturbed for centuries. The discovery is of international importance according to the trust, as it sheds new light on how people lived in the Mesolithic period. www.bbc.co.uk

Archeological museum Varna presented by What's Up Bulgaria
The Archeological museum in Varna 1. Would you introduce yourself to our readers? My name is Igor Nazarenko and I am head of department archeology of the Archeological museum in Varna. I'm an archaeologist by profession and I work here since 1998 year. 2. When the museum was founded? The history of the museum starts at 19th century, when is established Archaeological Society of Varna in 1877 year. The first collection of the museum was opened in 1888 year with a decision of the municipal council of Varna. And the first museum collection in this building was shown in 1895 year. Actually, the museum is housed in former Girl's School, which is the biggest Middle School of the Balkan Peninsula, which is built in the end of 19th century, from 1892 to 1898 year. The museum is housed in this building since 1983 year. 3. What makes The Archeological museum in Varna unique? It has the largest museum area in Bulgaria. It shows collections from different eras ranging from the Mesolithic through the end of 19th century. Part of the exhibits aren't a subject of archeology but modern history and ethnography. This what most attracts tourists in our museum is the famous Open Necropolis of Varna, where was found and processed the oldest gold in the world. There are a few more fields in the area like this, but here is been housed the largest collection of fields like this, in Necropolis, which is uncovered in Varna. 4. Which find is the most popular, most interesting and has the widest ...

Mysterious Ruins of Tiahuanaco and Puma Punku (Old Footage)
From The History Channel Program "Ancient Aliens" The Stone Age refers to a period of time in human prehistory, all the way back from the first primate toolmaking (Homo habilis), more than 2.6 million years ago to about 3500 BC, when metallurgy in the form of smelting copper ore was developed. The Stone Age is divided into three segments, the Paleolithic (literally: Old Stone Age), Mesolithic (Middle Stone Age), and Neolithic (New Stone Age). Puma Punku, truly startles the imagination. It seems to be the remains of a great wharf (for Lake Titicaca long ago lapped upon the shores of Tiahuanaco) and a massive, four-part, now collapsed building. One of the construction blocks from which the pier was fashioned weighs an estimated 440 tons (equal to nearly 600 full-size cars) and several other blocks laying about are between 100 and 150 tons. The quarry for these giant blocks was on the western shore of Titicaca, some ten miles away. There is no known technology in all the ancient world that could have transported stones of such massive weight and size. The Andean people of 500 AD, with their simple reed boats, could certainly not have moved them. Even today, with all the modern advances in engineering and mathematics, we could not fashion such a structure. The walls of pumapunku were made of solid interlocking mult-ton blocks of diurite, the hardest substance known besides diamond.

Platform snare trap.
Building a platform trap, with my own locking mechanism, as requested by Mistercapnjoe. Remember, building a trap is only half the game; setting, is a skill in itself. This trap was made to be triggered from the front, but with another platform set on the other side, it can be used in a dual setting, increasing the chances of a sucessful trap. It would be perfect on a regular trail, which becomes bottle necked; but remember, this is likely to snare an animal around the leg, so even if it's a herbivore, it must be aproached with great caution ... I cannot emphasise that enough.

For more information, visit our main site at: www.asiatravel.com It's as easy as "Click & Go!" Yazd (Persian استان یزد) is one of the 30 provinces of Iran. It is in the centre of the country, and its center is Yazd. The province has an area of 73467 km², and according to the most recent divisions of the country, is divided into ten counties: Maybod, Mehreez, Taft, Ardakan, Behabad, Khatam, Sadogh, Bafq, Abar Kooh and Yazd, the capital. According to the 1996 census, Yazd province had a population of about 750769, of which 75.1% were urban residents while 24.9% resided in rural areas. In 2006, Yazd had an estimated population of 1033291.[1] The city of Yazd is the economic and administrative capital of the province and therefore the most heavily populated. In the course of history due to its distance from important capitals and its harsh natural surrounding, Yazd remained immune to major troops' movements and destruction from wars, therefore it kept many of its traditions, city forms and architecture until recent times. Yazd hails from an ancient history. As an example, Tehran University and Iran's Cultural Heritage Organization have teamed up with France's CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) to carry out archeological studies in Yazd ...

Age of Empires: Official Trailer (1997, Ensemble/Microsoft)
Age of Empires (often abbreviated to AoE or AofE), is a history-based real-time strategy computer game released in 1997. Developed by Ensemble Studios and published by Microsoft, the game uses the Genie, a 2D sprite based game engine. The game allows the user to act as the leader of an ancient civilization by advancing it through four ages, (Stone Age, Tool Age, Bronze Age, and Iron Age) gaining access to new and improved units with each advance. Originally touted as Civilization meets Warcraft, some reviewers felt that the game failed to live up to these expectations when it was released. Despite this, it received generally good reviews, and an expansion pack, Age of Empires: The Rise of Rome Expansion was released in 1998. Both the original Age of Empires and the expansion pack were later released as "the Gold Edition". Age of Empires requires the player to develop a civilization from a handful of hunter-gatherers to an expansive Iron Age empire. To assure victory, the player must gather resources in order to pay for new units, buildings and more advanced technology. Resources must also be preserved, as no new resources become available as the game progresses, meaning, if you cut a tree down, the tree will not come back. Twelve civilizations are available, each with individual sets of attributes, including a varying number of available technologies and units. Each civilization has technologies unique to them, so that no civilization possesses all the technologies ...
