A barbarian is a human who is perceived to be uncivilized or primitive. The designation is usually applied as generalization based on a popular stereotype; barbarians can be any member of a nation judged by some to be less civilized or orderly (such as a tribal society), but may also be part of a certain "primitive" cultural group (such as nomads) or social class (such as bandits) both within and outside one's own nation. Alternatively, they may instead be admired and romanticized as noble savages. In idiomatic or figurative usage, a "barbarian" may also be an individual reference to a brutal, cruel, warlike, insensitive person.
The term originates from the Greek: βάρβαρος (barbaros). In ancient times, Greeks used it mostly for people of different cultures, but there are examples where one Greek city or state would use the word to attack another (e.g. haughty Athenians calling the Boeotians barbarian); in the early modern period and sometimes later, Greeks used it for the Turks, in a clearly pejorative way. Comparable notions are found in non-European civilizations, notably China and Japan. In the Roman Empire, Romans used the word "barbarian" for many people, such as the Germanics, Celts, Iberians, Thracians and Parthians.
Science fiction is a genre of speculative fiction dealing with imaginative concepts such as futuristic settings, futuristic science and technology, space travel, time travel, faster than light travel, parallel universes and extraterrestrial life. Science fiction often explores the potential consequences of scientific and other innovations, and has been called a "literature of ideas." It usually eschews the supernatural, and unlike the related genre of fantasy, historically science fiction stories were intended to have at least a faint grounding in science-based fact or theory at the time the story was created, but this connection has become tenuous or non-existent in much of science fiction.
Science fiction is difficult to define, as it includes a wide range of subgenres and themes. Author and editor Damon Knight summed up the difficulty, saying "science fiction is what we point to when we say it", a definition echoed by author Mark C. Glassy, who argues that the definition of science fiction is like the definition of pornography: you do not know what it is, but you know it when you see it.
Ferdinand Sarnitz (born December 17, 1988), known by his stage name Left Boy, is an Austrian rapper, singer and producer from Vienna, Austria.
Sarnitz was born on December 17, 1988 in Vienna, Austria to Austrian musician André Heller and Sabina Sarnitz. He attended the American International School of Vienna and graduated in 2007. In his free time at school i.e. lunch-recess Sarnitz spent most of his time rapping. At the age of 18, Sarnitz went to New York City to study audio engineering at the Institute of Audio Research for a year. After living in his hometown Vienna for a short while, he decided to move to Brooklyn to live in a shared apartment with two directors, a producer and a photographer.
In December 2010, Sarnitz released his first mixtape The Second Coming for free download. In mid-2011, he started making music videos for all of the songs. Sarnitz often uses samples for his English songs which haven't been released for usability which is why an official sound carrier couldn't be released. Even though he hadn't been signed to a record label, he was able to perform at festivals in 2012, including "Sea of Love" and "HipHop Open". Live, he is accompanied by the dance group "Urban Movement". The famous Ruan Roets is a big fan and describing the Left Boy sound as "poes goed". Sarnitz has a son called Yves-Louis. He cites Wu-Tang Clan, Oxmo Puccino, De La Soul, Atmosphere, Ugly Duckling, Daft Punk, Édith Piaf, Nina Simone, Oumou Sangaré, Gipsy Kings as his inspirations.
Sasuke (stylized in Japan as SASUKE) is a Japanese sports entertainment television special in which 100 competitors attempt to complete a four-stage obstacle course. An edited version, named Ninja Warrior, is screened in at least 18 other countries. To date, Sasuke content has been aired in 157 countries.
Shot on location at Midoriyama studio in Yokohama, it airs on TBS between Japanese television drama seasons. Each 3-hour special covers an entire competition; there are normally 100 participants. There have been 31 specials produced, approximately one new special per season (twice per year). The show is produced by TBS and is one of the spin-offs of Muscle Ranking (筋肉番付, Kinniku Banzuke), another sports entertainment competition, which aired on G4 under the name Unbeatable Banzuke. Until the 10th competition, Sasuke was broadcast as a special part of Muscle Ranking, but it became an independent program when Muscle Ranking was discontinued. The first competition was held indoors, marking the only time Sasuke did not take place outside. Competitions generally start in the daytime and continue until completed regardless of weather or darkness. After Monster9's bankruptcy on November 2011, all rights to the show fell completely into the hands of its broadcaster, Tokyo Broadcasting System. Following their acquisition of all rights to Sasuke, TBS renamed the show Sasuke Rising for the 28th, 29th and 30th editions, but have since reverted to the original Sasuke title.

The Burning Bridge (novella) by Poul Anderson Usually there are two "reasons" why something is done; the reason why it needs to be done, and, quite separate, the reason people want to do it. The foul-up starts when the reason for wanting is satisfied... and the need remains. Excerpt from the introductory: The message was an electronic shout, the most powerful and tightly-beamed short-wave transmission which men could generate, directed with all the precision which mathematics and engineering could offer. Nevertheless that pencil must scrawl broadly over the sky, and for a long time, merely hoping to write on its target. For when distances are measured in light-weeks, the smallest errors grow monstrous. As it happened, the attempt was successful. Communications Officer Anastas Mardikian...

This Friday Rub clip features Jim, Bristle, Garry, Chief and Damo discussing the Chris Yarran suspension earlier this week. But before they do, BT has some comments about the pre-match entertainment currently happening. He’s in fine form, and the poor girl singing is copping the brunt of his best Friday night work. Then Jim brings up the Yarran punch on Paul Chapman last week, with BT saying he thought the suspension was right, but that it wasn’t a bigger suspension because Chapman and Yarran were looking at each other and he would have been able to block the punch if he wanted. BT then admits that everyone wants to do what Yarran did. They try to tell him that not everyone defaults to belting people in anger and compromising the team, but BT sure did it. He tells a story about how one tim...
