Plot: Herbert Bock is chief of medicine in a major teaching hospital. His wife has left him, he is impotent and his children have both disowned him. He is toying with the idea of suicide when patients begin dying, not from complications, but from the erroneous treatments the Hospital is giving them. People in the wrong beds are given wrong medicines, sent to operating theaters for incorrect surgery, and found in waiting rooms dead of natural causes. Barbara Drummond has come to take her comatose father back to the Sioux reservation where he operates a clinic and they each reach out to each other for emotional support, as a shadowy figure stalks the patients and staff of the hospital.
Keywords: anti-hero, black-comedy, chaos, cynicism, dead-doctor, dead-nurse, dead-patient, death-on-operating-table, doctor, drugs
Genres:
Comedy,
Drama,
Mystery,
Taglines: Madness, Murder and Malpractice. Watch them operate! I may be crazy, but I think I've operated on the wrong patient. Behind the lab coat beats the heart of a man who's been pushed to the edge.
Quotes:
Edmund Drummond: So at 9:15 this morning I rang for my nurse...::Bock: Rang for your nurse?::Edmund Drummond: To ensure one full hour of uninterrupted privacy.::Bock: Good.
Herbert Bock: I mean, where do you train your nurses, Mrs. Christie - Dachau?
Herbert Bock: Now what in hell am I going to tell this boy Schaefer's parents? That a substitute nurse assassinated him because she couldn't tell the doctors from the patients on the floor?
Herbert Bock: We've established the most enormous medical entity ever conceived... and people are sicker than ever. We cure nothing! We heal nothing!
Herbert Bock: You know, when I say impotent, I don't mean merely limp. When I say impotent, I mean I've lost even my desire to work. That's a hell of a lot more primal passion than sex. I've lost my reason for being... my purpose. The only thing I ever truly loved.
Edmund Drummond: I am the fool for Christ, and Paraclete of Caborca.
Barbara: I have a thing about middle-aged men.::Bock: I admire your candor.::Barbara: You've been admiring a lot more than that.
Barbara: It's hard for me to take your despair very seriously, Doctor. You obviously enjoy it so much.
Herbert Bock: It is all rubbish isn't it. I mean... transplants, anti-bodies, we can produce birth ectogenetically, we can clone people like carrots, and half the kids in this ghetto haven't been inoculated for polio. We have established an enormous medical entity and we're sicker than ever. We cure nothing! We heal, nothing! The whole goddamn wretched world, strangulating in front of our eyes.
Edmund Drummond: This is Dr. Ives. He's in the Nephrology Lab. I was in there a little while ago, and he was suddenly taken ill, and I thought I'd better get him over here right away. He had at that time perhaps an hour to live. Prompt treatment would have saved his life. As a staff doctor, he was seen without preliminaries... His vital signs were taken, an electrocardiogram... which revealed occasional ventricular premature contractions. An intern took his history... and then he was promptly... simply... forgotten to death.

About me -
- How old are you? - 23
- Where's home? - Lots of places, but mainly in Guernsey, UK
- How many countries have you visited? - 19 and counting
- Where have you lived? - Guernsey, Dubai, London, Thailand
- Where are you traveling this trip? - Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines
Backpacking or suitcasing? Backpacking!
- What backpack do you use? - Lowe Alpine Air Zone 35-45
- How do you backpack with such a small bag? - I've written a blog post about it. Go find it: www.globepotterers.com
- How do you afford to travel? - I worked at home for two years, but only really saved for about 6 months. I worked two jobs, one in a bank and one in a bar. It's true that I worked super hard to make the money, but I'm also really fortunate to have been born in a place where it's pretty easy to get a well paid job. If you want to travel, save those pennies as much as you can, book a ticket, and do it!
- What editing program do you use? - iMovie. It's free and perfect for editing vlogs - noting complicated required!
- Did you go to university? - I went to Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts in London for a year, but decided it wasn't for me and went traveling with my buddy Matt instead. That was way back in 2010!
- How long do your vlogs take to edit? - It varies, but I aim for between 1 - 3 hours

Guernsey, officially the Bailiwick of Guernsey, is a possession of the British Crown in right of Guernsey in the English Channel, off the coast of Normandy. As a bailiwick, Guernsey embraces not only all ten parishes on the island of Guernsey, but also the islands of Alderney and Sark – each with its own parliament – and the smaller islands of Herm, Jethou and Lihou. Although its defence is the responsibility of the United Kingdom, the Bailiwick is not part of the United Kingdom but rather a possession of the British Crown. It lies within the Common Travel Area of the British Isles and is not a member of the European Union, but has a special relationship with it, being treated as part of the European Community for the purposes of free trade in goods. Together, the Bailiwick of Guernsey and Bailiwick of Jersey form the geographical grouping known as the Channel Islands. The Channel Island Way is a walking guide published in 2011 by Coast Media which links all the perimeter walks around the Channel Islands into one, 110 mile route. We were sponsored by visitguernsey to walk sections of the route and produce a series of audio podcasts about the walks, the islands and some of the people we met on route. This video will give you an idea of our journey as we travel to Guernsey initially, before landing on Herm. A day later, we took the ferries to Sark, for another 2 days coastal walking. Once we return to Guernsey, we walk the East, South and West coasts and then spend a day on Alderney before returning to Guernsey for an afternoon on the water and heading home. The 6 part audio series contains interviews with key people and we share our thoughts on terrain, equipment and accommodation. It was a lightweight backpacking trip for us and the book proved to be an invaluable guide. For more information about these and over 300 other podcasts please visit The Outdoors Station.
