A top (also called spinning top or spintop) is a toy that can be spun on an axis, balancing on a point. This motion is produced in the most simple forms of top by twirling the stem using the fingers. More sophisticated tops are spun by holding the axis firmly while pulling a string or twisting a stick or pushing an auger as shown in the pictures on this page. In the kinds with an auger, an internal weight rotates, producing an overall circular motion.
The top is one of the oldest recognizable toys found on archaeological sites. Spinning tops originated independently in cultures all over the world. Besides toys, tops have also historically been used for gambling and prophecy. Some role-playing gamers still use tops to augment dice in generating randomized results; it is in this case referred to as a spinner.[citation needed] A thumbtack may also be made to spin on the same principles.
The action of a top relies on the gyroscopic effect for its operation. Typically the top will at first wobble until the shape of the tip and its interaction with the surface force it upright. After spinning upright for an extended period, the angular momentum, and therefore the gyroscopic effect will gradually lessen, leading to ever increasing precession, finally causing the top to topple in a frequently violent last thrash.

Premium economy is a travel class offered on some airlines, positioned in price, comfort, and amenities between economy class and business class. In 1991, EVA Air became the first airline company that have this kind of class in aircraft. As of 2011, the term is not standardized among airlines, and varies significantly when comparing its use on domestic versus international flights or when comparing low-cost or regional airlines with other airliners. Premium economy is sometimes limited to just a bit more leg room, but at its most comprehensive can feature multiple "creature comforts" that are only a notch below Business class.
For example, in the United States domestic market, airlines such as United, Delta, Jet Blue, and Virgin America have an upgraded Economy class with 2–5 inches (5.1–13 cm) more leg room as the only difference; they market the class as "economy plus", "economy comfort", "even more legroom" or "main cabin select" (respectively). At the other extreme, on Air New Zealand and Qantas feature a "premium economy" includes premium check-in, large customized seats (some for couples while others targeting solo travelers), seat pitch up to 41 inches (100 cm) with 50% more recline, premium meals, a self-service bar for drinks and snacks, a personal in-flight entertainment center with remote control, noise-cancelling headphones and choices in games and movies for children and adults, skin care products in the lavatory, and an amenities pouch containing items such as socks, sleep masks, earplugs, and toothbrush.

Singapore Airlines Premium Economy Class Preview

Singapore Airlines will be offering a new class of service - the Premium Economy Class, from August 9 with the first commercial service to Sydney, Australia. This coincides with Singapore's 50th year of independence.
The Singapore Airlines Premium Economy Class will feature a 38" seat pitch, 18.5-19.5" seat width, and an 8" recline, in comparison with the current Economy Class offering of a 32" seat pitch, 18" seat width, and a 6" recline. There are also two USB ports and a power point for each seat, as well as generous storage space for personal articles. Noise-cancelling headsets similar to Business Class will be provided.
Premium Economy Class passengers will enjoy three choices of main course, a choice from two different breads, and an enhanced dessert as part of the service experience. In addition, passengers can pre-order their favourite main course from the Premium Economy Book the Cook menu before their flight. Champagne will be available throughout the flight.

Dinner is served about 1 hour into the flight. I then fell asleep for 8 hours and woke up just off the coast of Canada.
Breakfast (or second dinner) the time zone changes throws everything out was served 2 hours before landing.
During the flight you could ask for instant noodles or help yourself to snacks from the galley.
Loads of touch screen entertainment. Point to note row 30 has fold away screens which means you need to finish you movie 5-10 mins before landing. In the rows where the screens are on the back of the seat infront of you, you can watch your show including outside camera for the landings and take off.
Arrived in New York at about 10pm. The aircraft arrived to the gate late at HKG and flight departed about 1 hour late.

A beautiful takeoff with views of an A380 lifting off! Sadly this was the highlight of the flight. The experience at check-in was actually good for economy with a ground staff welcoming me and taking my luggage. While the premium economy seat on CZ is pretty good, food and service on China Southern's newest and long awaited route were disappointing. Food was barely edible, and service was odd with three small meals. Plane was equipped with mood lighting but for some reason this was never used until the end of the flight. Enjoy this new economy class experience onboard Air France's Boeing 777-300ER. This particular aircraft features the new first, business, premium economy and economy class product. Verdict: Seat: The seat was comfortable with generous legroom. Entertainment: The IFE was impressive and the touchscreen was responsive. I also wanted to try out something exotic as well! Soon I decided to book Singapore Airlines from Frankfurt to New York, part of the 23hour journey from Singapore to New York.

It isn't a secret to anyone that Singapore Airlines is one of the best airlines in the world. This isn't lied at all, from check in to getting off the plane Singapore provided outstanding service with attention to each detail! SQ serves what you could expect in another carrier's premium cabin! However their IFE system is running behind on carriers like SN and DL as it's a bit harder to operate.

China Southern Premium Economy In Depth Look CZ300 JFK to CAN

A beautiful takeoff with views of an A380 lifting off! Sadly this was the highlight of the flight. The experience at check-in was actually good for economy with a ground staff welcoming me and taking my luggage. While the premium economy seat on CZ is pretty good, food and service on China Southern's newest and long awaited route were disappointing. Food was barely edible, and service was odd with three small meals. Plane was equipped with mood lighting but for some reason this was never used until the end of the flight. While this is only one flight, it fits into what I have heard about CZ as inconsistent. A lot of positives mixed in with lots of negatives.

It was then I found out the flight had been cancelled because of Air France pilots' strike. The agent I booked with BudgetAir.co.uk promptly offered to process a refund for me. I then searched on Skyscanner for a replacement flight, and Etihad had the best availability at a good price. Check in online was thankfully smooth.
The seat was comfortable.
Only thing to say about this flight was noted by 2 other passengers.
1. shortage of air crew. 1 crew member served the entire aisle (usually there are 2)
2. My 1st choice arabic meal was all out.

JFK Departure: 80%
Very friendly check-in agent, managed to interline with Lufhansa to Brussels. seat maps of our A380 where present, Terminal 4 was very nice as well to spend a few hours in before your flight departed. The only pet peeve was the very slow security with alot of longhaul departures at the same time.
Aircraft appearence: 90%
Still very impressed by the size of the A380, and it had a very clean and new appearence as well.
Seat comfort: 90%
Very soft seats and impressive legroom, always nice to have an aminity kit as well.
Crew: 100%
SQ's high standard of service was shown. eye for detail was given, and a non-robotic service! One of the best crews I ever encountered.
IFE: 80%
Multiple entertainment options availible, very hard to control IFE set however.
Catering: 80%
Curry chicken was good without to many sauce on :)
Breakfast was ideal for a 7hour overnight flight.
Frankfurt Arrival: 80%
Very smooth and efficient. Nice that they had connecting gate info as I was on a different ticket
Overall verdict: 86%
As expected Singapore Airlines delivered a 5-star consistent service on this flight as well. Unlike the outbound flight this crew wasn't robotic at all and had eyes for each detail to make sure that everybody had a great flight. No discussion about it that they are miles ahead on the traditional US/European carriers that fly over the Atlantic. I do hope that they review their entertainment system soon as others are catching up with more inferior products.

Welcome aboard one of the newest aircraft in the skies.... the Boeing 787-9. Air New Zealand is the launch customer of the type and are currently flying it between Auckland and Sydney, soon to be followed by Perth and some Asian destinations.
These Auckland/Sydney runs have been a way for the crew to familiarise themselves with the aircraft before long haul services commence. This video has been filmed in the brand new Premium Economy cabin, this particular seat is different to that found on the B777-300ER, it's a more typical recliner seat in black leather.
This comprehensive video shows flight NZ104 and includes the boarding, pushback, engine start (great start sound), taxi, takeoff, climb, cruise, meal service, a look at the economy cabin, descent and landing in Auckland.
Please note that whilst I was sitting in Premium Economy, the service is standard Tasman economy. This is because Air New Zealand don't sell premium economy on short haul sectors, however you can pre-purchase a seat for an additional charge. These seats are also provided to elite frequent flyers and those travelling on the works deluxe or premium economy long haul fares.
There is the ability to purchase food and snacks on the entertainment touch screen and have them delivered, you will see this demonstrated in this video.

Enjoy this new economy class experience onboard Air France's Boeing 777-300ER. This particular aircraft features the new first, business, premium economy and economy class product.
Verdict:
Seat: The seat was comfortable with generous legroom.
Entertainment: The IFE was impressive and the touchscreen was responsive.
Service: The cabin crew were professional and were prompt to requests.
Meal: The dinner service was a letdown. The portion was too small but I guess that's what you get for a short flight. The lemon cake wasn't to my liking either.
Overall: It was an enjoyable experience on this short flight with Air France.

First time flying with BA, I was hoping to fly in the new refurblished 77-200, but unfortunately flew in the old style economy cabins. My IFE was broken so couldn't really show much of it.
There was a tuck shop at the very back of the plane, with little snacks and drinks. Having extra leg room on a 9 hour flight was surperb and made the flight more enjoyable.
Honestly speaking for my first flight with BA, I wasn't too pleased. As the cabin was dirty, not sure if the turnover was rushed. Food was nice, but service was so so, the extra leg room was the only added bonus for me.
Overall I hope you do enjoy watching

The flight was late by about an hour, but Asiana's service was truly impressive even though I was flying economy. Although the flight attendants were not as fluent in English as other international airlines, they were very professional and patient.
