Northwest Passage Closed by Ice Indefinately | Mini Ice Age 2015-2035 (95)
A new article out states that the Northwest passage will not be navigable due to increased sea ice in the Arctic, up to 10 feet/3.2 meters thick. Laughably many other reports have said the N.W. Passage will be ice free by 2015. This report shows the facts and incorrect predictions of sea ice, sea level rises and polar bear declines.

Warming opens famed Northwest Passage to navigation
Glacial thawing in the Arctic is one of the most apparent effects of global warming. As icebergs continue to melt, the North Pole is becoming increasingly used as a shortcut for maritime traffic between Asia and Europe. But before ships can navigate these waters on a regular basis, ice breaker boats like the Amundsen have to clear the ice chunks that remain despite warming temperatures.

Northwest Passage is a 26-episode half-hour adventure television series produced by Metro Goldwyn Mayer about Major Robert Rogers during the time of the French and Indian War (1756–1763). The show derived its title and the main characters Rogers, Towne, and Marriner from the 1937 novel of the same name by Kenneth Roberts, and from the 1940 MGM feature film based on the novel. The scope of the novel was much broader than that of the series, and the second half of the book included an historically based attempt by Rogers to find a water route through North America as a "passage" to the Pacific Ocean. This attempt, lending its name to the novel and used by Roberts as a metaphor for the questing human spirit, is referenced in the first episode.
One of the earlier series telecast in color, Northwest Passage aired new episodes on NBC from September 14, 1958, to March 13, 1959. Keith Larsen (1924–2006) played the lead role (originally that of Spencer Tracy in the film); Buddy Ebsen (1908–2003), later the star of CBS's The Beverly Hillbillies and Barnaby Jones, appeared as Sergeant Hunk Marriner (originally played in the film by Walter Brennan, who at the time of this series was starring in the TV series The Real McCoys), and Don Burnett co-starred as Ensign Langdon Towne (originally played by Robert Young, at the time of this series starring in Father Knows Best).[1]
Rogers formed a volunteer group, Rogers' Rangers, determined to fight with the British against the French and their Indian allies in what later became northern New York State. The series premiere entitled "Fight at the River" featured 24-year-old Denny Scott Miller as Ranger Cooper. He was later Duke Shannon on the Western Wagon Train and the military husband in NBC's Mona McCluskey.[2]

In 2011, Matt Rutherford set a Guinness World Record for skippering the smallest boat to negotiate the Arctic's Northwest Passage. In this video blog, Matt shares his first days in the NWP, waiting for the ice to melt before continuing his perilous voyage.
After transiting the NWP, Matt went on to complete a 27,077 mile, 311 day voyage around North and South America. He won a second Guinness World Record as first person to circumnavigate the Americas sailing solo, nonstop.
MATT'S VOYAGE RAISED $125,000 FOR DISABLED SAILORS.
Red Dot on the Ocean: The Matt Rutherford Story, a documentary produced by TheSailingChannel.TV and Flannery Films, tells the tale of Matt's incredible voyage. Along the way the film intertwines Matt's equally incredible life story, which takes him from troubled youth to sailing legend. Think of it as "Wild" on the ocean.
RED DOT ON THE OCEAN IS COMING TO PBS
http://www.reddotontheocean.com
Red Dot has been accepted for broadcast on PBS. Our Presenting Station is WPBT2 Miami and our PBS distributor is American Public Television. To make a donation, download the Donor Acknowledgement Letter, sign it, and mail it with your check to WPBT/CTF. They will send you a Tax Deduction Letter for the IRS. And we will add your name or your organization's name to the film credits.
Besides a mention in the credits, the donation rules do not allow us to thank you with a DVD or other gift (Yup, I know, it’s PBS and they give gifts all the time during their pledge drives, but as producers, we can’t.)

APT will offer Red Dot to national stations during its Fall Marketplace to be held in Atlanta in November 2015. Stations will begin broadcasting in spring 2016 and unlimited broadcasts will continue for two years.
WE NEED A LITTLE HELP: $$ STATION FEES $$
http://www.reddotontheocean.com/pbs-donation/
To make sure this happens we need to raise $7,200 by October 31 to pay the WPBT2 station fees, which cover national marketing, closed captioning, PBS Red Book review and preparation for broadcast.
MAKE A TAX-DEDUCTIBLE DONATION AND WE'LL PUT YOUR NAME IN THE CREDITS.
