Transcript:
Mr Juncker, as you present this morning your new Commission, you tell us that they're all in the Last-Chance Saloon. Well, I'll tell you what, I'll come and see you there. But you're going to have to introduce me to them, because this is pretty much a bunch of non-entities, unknown. I spoke to MEPs this morning who will be voting later, and most of them couldn't even name half of them.
And the one from Britian is so obscure, his name, Lord Hill should be Lord Who, because the British public couldn't pick the bloke out of a line-up and he's never been elected to anything in his life, which means he's perfect for the job - because I don't think that the European public or commentators understand what the European Commission really is.
The Commission is the Executive, it is the Government of Europe, and it has the sole rights to propose legislation; it does so in consultation with 3000 secret committees, staffed mainly by big business and big capital, and all the legislation is proposed in secret.
And once something becomes a European law, it is the European Commission themselves who have the sole right to propose repeal or change of that legislation.
The Community Method which you championed this morning, the means by which the European Commission makes law and holds law, is actually the very enemy of the concept of democracy itself. Because it means in any member state there is nothing the electorate can do to change a single piece of European law.
So we'll be voting against the Commission today, not on the basis of the individuals, but on the basis of the fact that it is a fundamentally un-, in fact, anti-democratic form of government.
I suspect you're in for a tough time with this Commission. You are going to have the euro crisis, which has not gone away and is going to get worse.
And you are also going to have the UK debate, when now it hs become unacceptable to the vast majority of British citizens for there to be total free movement of people extended to half a billion people to come to Britain.
Mr Cameron masquerades as being an EU opponent, though I note this morning that the Conservatives are so brave that they are even going to abstain.
I think this will be the last European Commission that governs Britain, because within the end of these five years we will be out of here.
Thank you.

President of the European Council Donald Tusk and president of the European commission Jean-Claude Juncker will comment on the current situation in Greece at the European Parliament session in Strasbourg on July 8. The Greek government's current bailout expired on Tuesday, June 30, when the country was due to pay the IMF €1.6bn (£1.1bn), a payment they failed to meet.
A referendum on bailout saw the 'no' vote win with 61.3% of votes. The governing Syriza party campaigned for the 'no' after rejecting the bailout terms of the so-called 'troika' - the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the European Central Bank (ECB) and the European Commission (EC).

The European Commission on Tuesday proposed setting up a border control agency between most of the member states to slow down the record number of asylum seekers entering the bloc, though the plan is already stirring up controversy. If leaders and the EU Parliament ultimately approve the plan, Europe would for the first time have a border protection agency that could act independently of national governments, respond to emergencies with speed and possess its own risk assessment center.

Brought to you by the European Commission's DG Growth, this seminar gives a practical guide to marketing your tourism business. Whether an attraction, hotel, tour operator or even a destination, the seminar serves to run through key marketing basics.
It will explain the ‘visitor buying cycle’, with a particular focus on digital media and how technology is shaping and informing travel decisions, how a visitor comes to discover a place in the initial ‘dreaming’ phase, to deciding, booking, experiencing and sharing their experience with peers. This strategic approach shows the many opportunities at each stage and importantly, how businesses should harness knowledge of their business and customers to succeed.

Last year the Single Market celebrated its 20th anniversary, that's 20 years of the free movement of goods, people, services and capital within the European Union. EU action has opened up national markets, brought down trade barriers and made services up to 90% cheaper.
The Single Market has harmonised the complex and different national laws of 28 Member States, making it easier and cheaper for the 23 million European companies to do business across borders. And with unrestricted access to 500 million people, trade between EU countries has grown by €2000 billion euros since 1992.
Thanks to a 25% reduction in red tape and a harmonised set of EU standards, selling on-line in Europe is a real opportunity for even the smallest of companies. And with more firms now competing against each other, it means lower prices for consumers and a wider choice of products and services that you wouldn't necessarily find at home or at the same price.
Since the EU liberalised the aviation sector and created a Single Market for air transport, it is now easier and cheaper to travel throughout Europe. Europeans can enjoy the benefits of a connected continent through a wider choice of routes and airlines, and lower prices - air fares have fallen by 40% since the 1990s. EU legislation offers disabled passengers special assistance at no extra cost and entitles everyone to certain rights if your journey is disrupted or cancelled.
Retired citizens can move to any Member State, still receive their statutory pension there and gain access to public healthcare. In fact, with the European Health Insurance Card EU citizens are entitled to receive medical treatment when abroad in any EU country.
The Single Market is an essential platform for growth, especially in times of economic crisis. With unemployment at nearly 12% in the EU nearly 30% in Greece and Spain, it offers people the opportunity to go across borders to look for work without the need for a permit. EURES, the EU's online job portal, links over a million jobseekers with 30,000 employers in 31 countries. Erasmus, the student exchange programme, has helped 2.5 million students in the last 25 years to study or train in another Member State. And mutual recognition of professional qualifications has given hundreds of thousands of people the opportunity to find work abroad.

I love traveling and optimising, so light traveling for an extensive time period is the perfect challenge. I have done it quite a few times buy now and have tweaked my packing list over time, so excited to share with you what makes the list now.
Even though this might seem like very little to bring for a 2 month trip, I am still amazed at how much stuff's in my suitcase.. I still feel like I bring to much.. can it ever become simple enough?
I have put links to all the specific products that I use below. Most of the links go tho the specific products, but some of them have gone out of production since I bought them, so I put the link to something similar.
I made the video because I am passionate about simplifying my life which includes my travels. Put the links in to make it easy for you guys to find some of the products it has taken me years to find and a few people ask me what camera I use etc, so here it is. And if you end up buying something I get a small commission, so thanks for your support:)

A proposal to give the European Union executive the power to send forces unbidden into member states to defend the common European frontier will face resistance from some countries when it is published this week.
The European Commission wants to be able to deploy personnel from a new European Border and Coastguard Agency without, as currently required, the consent of the state concerned, EU officials told Reuters in early December, reflecting frustration with Greek reluctance to seek help with migrants.
EU officials call the plan a largely theoretical "nuclear option" and stress that any infringement of national sovereignty would be balanced by the power of a majority of member states to block Commission intervention - similar to checks agreed during the euro debt crisis.
The Commission will set out the plan on Tuesday to reinforce its Frontex agency with up to six times more staff, EU officials said, following a commitment to an EU border guard in September by President Jean-Claude Juncker.
"We think the current situation justifies a certain ambition," the Commission's chief spokesman said on Friday, expressing confidence about backing from member states.
Failure to strengthen the EU's external borders, senior officials argue, will see more states reimpose frontier controls inside the bloc, wrecking its cherished Schengen free-movement zone, and foster the rise of anti-EU nationalists like France's National Front.
But while big powers France and Germany support such EU power, other EU leaders may voice concerns at a summit on Thursday. Italy has pushed for a "Europeanisation" of external frontiers to relieve the costs on itself and Greece of policing the Mediterranean. But the plan may go too far for many leaders.
"This idea will face opposition from most member states," an EU diplomat said. "We believe such a solution would interfere too deeply in member states' internal competences."
"The Commission is testing our limits," said another.
He compared it to the Commission's push to oblige states to take in mandatory quotas of asylum seekers, which set furious east Europeans against German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Poland, a staunch opponent of mandatory refugee quotas, was quick to come out against the EU border force proposal.
"This means creating an institution, which would decide arbitrarily on its actions without the (concerned) member state's participation," Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski told private Polish radio RMF on Sunday.
"It is one of the decisions we will protest against."
FRANCO-GERMAN PUSH
Germany and France, alarmed at the threat to the Schengen open-borders system from up to a million undocumented migrants arriving by sea and trekking north from Greece and Italy this year, have called for central control over the zone's external frontiers and, as a last resort such as now in Greece, emergency powers to send in European forces uninvited.
But even supporters of the plan among diplomats in Brussels acknowledge it will face resistance. "Everyone supports strengthening Frontex," one said, "but when it comes to a common border guard, we'll have to see. There have been concerns."
Governments are reserving judgment on a proposal they have yet to see. But diplomats said many were likely at least to demand stronger safeguards against being forced to act by the EU executive. Existing powers that effectively can suspend a country from the Schengen agreements if it fails to protect the external EU border are mandatory enough, some diplomats argue.
Such threats saw Greece drop objections to a new deployment of Frontex forces on its borders this month.
Sounding conciliatory to his powerful northern partners, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras told parliament in Athens on Friday that a European Coastguard was welcome.
But he stressed that ultimate authority over the borders would still lie with Greece and he ruled out joint patrols with the Turkish navy, as envisaged by the Commission.
EU officials said on Friday that foreign border guards would, as now, be under local command whenever deployed.
EU officials said that the new agency will have close to 1,000 permanent staff, compared to about 400 at Frontex now, and double or more the Frontex budget. A new Returns Office would be charged with deporting those who fail to qualify for asylum.
In addition, the border guard force would be able to draw on a pool of around 1,500 personnel placed on standby while still working for national border forces in the Schengen area. These would form a rapid reaction force, able to deploy within days.

Adding an official language to the European Union with the accession of a new Member State naturally requires training and recruitment of interpreters and translators. And it requires building - at the very least a new interpreting booth, and if there are a lot of new languages all at once as happened in 2004, even new buildings to make room for everyone.

Facts : 1 European Union European legislation on dangerous substances has eliminated the production and marketing of some substances that have been of historic concern such as persistent organic micropollutants
Facts : 2 The European Commission has said repeatedly that the Directive on the protection of the environment, and in particular of the soil, when sewage sludge is used in agriculture (86/278/EEC) has been very successful in that there have been no cases of adverse effect where it has been applied
Facts : 3 The EC encourages the use of sewage sludge in agriculture because it conserves organic matter and completes nutrient cycles
Facts : 4 Recycling of phosphate is regarded as especially important because the phosphate industry predicts that at the current rate of extraction the economic reserves will be exhausted in 100 or at most 250 years
Facts : 5 Phosphate can be recovered with minimal capital expenditure as technology currently exists, but municipalities have little political will to attempt nutrient extraction, instead opting for a take all the other stuff mentality

Facts : 1 Single numbering plan (1996 proposal) Proposed Country Code: 3 In 1996, the European Commission proposed the introduction of a single telephone numbering plan, in which all European Union member states would use the code 3
Facts : 2 Calls between member states would no longer require the use of the international access code 00
Facts : 3 Instead the digit 1 was proposed for these calls, replaced by +3 for call from outside the EU
Facts : 4 This would liberate up to 50 new country codes within Europe and allow the current codes starting with number 4 to be recycled within the world-wide numbering plan
Facts : 5 [1] This proposal would have required states like Germany, the United Kingdom, Denmark and others, whose country codes began with the digit 4 , to return these to the International Telecommunication Union
Facts : 6 For example, to call a number in Berlin, in Germany: xxxx xxxx (within Berlin) 030 xxxx xxxx (within Germany) 1 49 30 xxxx xxxx (within the EU) +3 49 30 xxxx xxxx (outside the EU) +49 30 xxxx xxxx (current system) Such a scheme would also have affected Spain which uses +34
Facts : 7 For example, to call someone in Barcelona: 93x xxxxxx (within Spain) 1 34 93x xxxxxx (within the EU) +3 34 93x xxxxxx (outside the EU) +34 93x xxxxxx (current system) States like Ireland, Portugal, Cyprus and Finland, which used codes in the 35x range, would adopt a different format
Facts : 8 For example, to call a number in Dublin, Ireland: xxxx xxxx (within Dublin) 01 xxxx xxxx (within Ireland) 1 53 1 xxxx xxxx (within the EU) +3 53 1 xxxx xxxx (outside the EU) +353 1 xxxx xxxx (current system) A Green Paper on the proposal was published, but it was felt by many in the industry that the disruption and inconvenience of such a scheme would outweigh any advantages
Facts : 9 A disadvantage would have been that every local number beginning with 1 would have had to be changed (except emergency number which would be kept)
Facts : 10 The EU proposal should not be confused with the European Telephony Numbering Space (ETNS) scheme, which uses the country code +388, and was intended to complement, rather than replace, existing national numbering plans

The EU Commission is taking Germany to court because the carmaker Daimler is still using a coolant chemical deemed harmful to the environment.
Daimler uses the refrigerant, called R-134a, in the air-conditioning units of Mercedes cars.
The Commission says Germany failed to apply an EU directive called MAC, which requires the use of a refrigerant "with less global warming potential".
Daimler says the new chemical, R1234yf, catches fire more easily.
The court case comes as German car firm Volkswagen remains under huge international pressure over its failure to comply with car emission standards.
According to the Commission, Daimler's safety concerns about R1234yf "were not shared by any other car manufacturer and were rejected by Germany's Federal Motor Transport Authority (Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt, KBA) and the [Commission's] Joint Research Centre".
If Germany loses the case at the European Court of Justice (ECJ) - the EU's top court - it could be liable for a big fine.
The MAC Directive - short for mobile air-conditioning systems - says fluorinated greenhouse gases with a global warming potential (GPW) higher than 150 must no longer be used.
Since 2011 MAC systems in cars have had to comply with the directive.

Poland should not cut retirement age: EU's Dombrovskis

Poland should not lower its retirement age as this would negatively affect the pension system and the labor market, European Commission Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis was quoted as saying on Friday.
Poland's new government, the socially conservative and economically populist Law and Justice party (PiS), wants to lower the retirement age to 60 for women and 65 for men. The previous economically liberal government had decided in 2012 to gradually raise it to 67 for both men and women.
"We will insist that the government does not backtrack from a previous decision to increase it (the retirement age)," Dombrovskis told Rzeczpospolita newspaper.
"If it does, this will negatively affect the stability of the pension system, the level of pensions and the supply of labor on the market," he said.
Poland has one of the lowest fertility rates in the 28-nation European Union, which means that, barring a change in the number of children being born, it will face a sharp decline in population and increasing costs to look after the elderly.
Dombrovskis also said Poland was among the EU nations with the highest number of allowances and reduced rates of value added tax, so it should consider reducing them in order to improve tax collection, one of the government's targets.
Poland should take action to reduce the share of temporary employment contracts, which now account for about a third of all job contracts, the highest share in the EU, Dombrovskis said.
Earlier this month Dombrovskis urged Poland to stick to a responsible fiscal policy and keep its deficit below an EU ceiling of 3 percent of national output despite Warsaw's plan to exceed it.

Please join us for an informative seminar which will identify opportunities to enhance U.S.-EU space cooperation and policy coordination. 2015 has been a momentous year for transatlantic space cooperation. In October, American and European officials signed the Copernicus Cooperation Arrangement which was created to facilitate transatlantic data transfers for a range of applications, including climate change research, weather forecasting, and disaster response. Enhanced transatlantic space cooperation could increase economic growth, jobs, and advance humanitarian interests. Closer space coordination can also enhance transatlantic security by improving border and maritime surveillance capabilities and providing geospatial intelligence data which could support international peace and stabilization missions.
This conversation is made possible by general support to CSIS.

I believe that everyone needs to contribute, even though in different degrees. We need to look at which countries polluted most in the past years, which countries are still emerging, which are the most vulnerable countries, which unfortunatelly pollute much less but are the ones who carry the heaviest burden, so as everyone has to contribute, each and every country has to contribute in different degrees. With the iron disease we have, it means we will go to 2.7o C but, if we had to go to 2oC there will still be a negative impact on certain small countries which are particularly islands and low lying countries. As with every year in recent memory, 2014 has been a landmark year for privacy on both sides of the Atlantic. In Europe, the General Data Protection Regulation continues to make its way through the legislative process, the CJEU delivers its landmark judgment in the Costeja case, and the repercussions of the Snowden revelations continue to be felt. In the U.S., the FTC builds on its record of privacy and data security enforcement actions, the President submits an ambitious legislative agenda, and cybersecurity data breaches rattle industry leaders in finance, retail and healthcare. In this session, policy leaders from both sides of the Atlantic discuss the future of Safe Harbor, the Right to be Forgotten, government access, competition, innovation and regulation.
Hear leading policymakers discuss the most complex issues on the transatlantic data protection agenda.
Learn about operationalizing the right to be forgotten across different legal cultures.
