www.undergroundworldnews.com
After Israel complained for years that it was surrounded by oil-rich states but didn’t have a drop within its own borders, it appears there’s a big-time turnaround with the announcement Wednesday that massive oil reserves have been located in the Golan Heights, close to the country’s border with Syria.
Afek Oil and Gas, an Israeli subsidiary of the U.S. company Genie Energy, confirmed the find in an interview with Israel’s Channel 2 TVbut conceded that until the oil is actually extracted, they won’t be sure of the actual amounts and quality of the oil that has been discovered.
“We are talking about a strata which is 350 meters thick and what is important is the thickness and the porosity,” the company’s chief geologist, Yuval Bartov, explained. “On average in the world, strata are 20-30 meters thick, so this is ten times as large as that, so we are talking about significant quantities. The important thing is to know the oil is in the rock and that's what we now know.”
According to a September 2014 Times of Israel report on the Golan exploration, Genie Energy is chaired by Howard Jonas and counts among its more notable investors the “former US Vice President Dick Cheney, Michael Steinhardt, Jacob Rothschild, and Rupert Murdoch.”

A Chinese investment firm is paying out $1.3 billion to buy giant oil fields in Texas, meanwhile China says it will take all necessary measures to defend its territory after the US sailed a warship through the South China Sea. Ameera David weighs in. Then, Ameera is joined by RT correspondent Manuel Rapalo to talk about how congressional lawmakers are now proposing the sale of 58 million barrels of oil from America’s strategic petroleum reserves. Afterwards, Bianca Facchinei takes a look at new data estimating 2016 college graduates will enter the strongest job market since the recession.
After the break, Ameera sits down with Alex Tabarrok – professor of economics at George Mason University – to talk about pharmaceuticals. And in The Big Deal, Ameera and Edward Harrison talk mergers and acquisitions.

Oil reserves are the amount of technically and economically recoverable oil. Reserves may be for a well, for a reservoir, for a field, for a nation, or for the world. Different classifications of reserves are related to their degree of certainty.
The total estimated amount of oil in an oil reservoir, including both producible and non-producible oil, is called oil in place. However, because of reservoir characteristics and limitations in petroleum extraction technologies, only a fraction of this oil can be brought to the surface, and it is only this producible fraction that is considered to be reserves. The ratio of reserves to the total amount of oil in a particular reservoir is called the recovery factor. Determining a recovery factor for a given field depends on several features of the operation, including method of oil recovery used and technological developments.

Mexico: 79 Private Oil Companies Bid on Contracts to Exploit Reserves
Mexico opened up a third round of bidding on Tuesday for 79 private oil companies, both national and international, to exploit the country’s oil reserves. Although the government claims that privatization will spark foreign investment, analysts warn that it is part of an unspoken strategy to dismantle Mexico’s state-run oil company, PEMEX, and hand it over to transnational banks and companies in o

U.S. energy independence relates to the goal of reducing the United States imports of "foreign oil" and other foreign sources of energy. Energy independence is espoused by those who want to leave America unaffected by global energy supply disruptions, and to restrict reliance upon politically unstable states for its energy security. Energy independence is highly concerned with oil, the source of the country's principal transport fuels.
In total energy, the U.S. was over 70% self-sufficient in 2008. In May 2011, the country became a net exporter of refined petroleum products.[2] As of 2014, the United States was the world's third-largest producer of crude oil, after Saudi Arabia and Russia.[3] and second largest exporter of refined products, after Russia.[4]
As of March 2015, 85% of crude oil imports came from (in decreasing volume): Canada, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Venezuela, and Colombia. [5] 19% of imported oil comes from the Middle East.[1] The fraction of crude oil consumed in the U.S. that was imported went from 35% immediately before the 1973 oil crisis, peaked at 60% in 2005, and then returned to 35% by 2013[6] thanks to increased domestic production[7] from the shale oil boom.[8] Exports of crude oil have been illegal without a permit since the 1970s; in 2013, the United States physically exported a relatively small amount of oil, and only to Canada.[9]
Greater energy self-sufficiency, it was claimed, would prevent major supply disruptions like the 1973 oil crisis and the 1979 energy crisis from recurring. Proponents argue that the potential for political unrest in major oil suppliers, such as Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, and Nigeria), is abundant, and often causes great fluctuations in crude oil prices (especially in the short-term).
Large individual pipelines and other fuel infrastructure and extraction projects are controversial issues in American politics.
In the early 20th century the United States became a major oil supplier to the world. World War II prompted a Synthetic Liquid Fuels Program but it did not go beyond research. In mid-century the country shifted from being a major exporter to a net importer. An import quota imposed in 1959 limited imports to a fraction of domestic production until 1973.[10]
America's dependence on foreign oil rose from 26 percent to 47 percent between 1985 to 1989.[11] After the 1973 oil crisis, the United States Department of Energy and Synthetic Fuels Corporation were created to address the problem of fuel import dependency. According to the Washington & Jefferson College Energy Index, by 2012, American energy independence had decreased by 22% since the tenure of President Harry Truman.[12]
America's imports of foreign oil fell to 36 percent in 2013, down from a high of 60 percent in 2006.[13]
Many proponents of energy independence look to the United States' untapped domestic oil reserves, either known or potential. Those who favor increasing domestic oil production often suggest removing many of the limitations on oil exploration in the Gulf of Mexico, the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (see Arctic Refuge drilling controversy) and the Outer Continental Shelf. Foreign dependence is not the only factor in North American energy politics, however; environmental concerns around land and water pollution as well as greenhouse gases related to are also a matter of controversy.

Oil Apocalypse What If the Oil Runs Out Documentary HD
The latest measurements confirm that the world's oil and natural gas supplies are running out too fast. At some time between 2010 and 2020 the world's supply of oil and gas will fall below the level required to meet international demand.
The US government is aware that we are about to endure a disastrous international energy shortage. According to Dr James McKenzie, a senior member of the climate change programme at the World Resources Institute in Washington, USA: "That's why we went to war in Iraq."
We always knew the world's oil reserves would run out eventually. The oil was formed by natural geological processes which occurred over millions of years. Oil consumption presently exceeds 25 billion barrels a year and demand continues to spiral upward, out of control. The outcome is inevitable.
In the 21st Century we rely on oil (petrol) and gas for transport - cars, lorries, ships, aircraft - as well as electrical power. We cannot survive without oil and gas, and when the supply runs out the great engine of Western civilization will finally grind to a halt. We are heading for an event that will be remembered as one of the great disasters of human history, and life is going to get harder for everybody as the day of reckoning draws nearer.
In the years ahead, wars will be fought over oil and fuel as the oil-dependent superpowers struggle in vein to preserve our unsustainable way of life. We are entering a period of great change and there are be difficult times ahead. The process has already begun. Students of prophecy will be familiar with certain relevant verses from Christian scripture concerning the signs of the end times (Matt. 24.8; Mk 13.8, Rom. 8.22; Rev. 12.03, 21.1-4). As it was translated in 1961 in the New English Bible: "With these things, the birth pangs of the new age begin" (Mt.24:8; Mk.13:8). Whether you are religious or secular, you should be aware that the tide of history is turning.
In North America, where we use far more oil than anywhere else on Earth, the vast majority (71%) of electrical power generation is entirely dependent on fossil fuels - coal (52%), gas (16%), and oil (3%). The world's natural gas is running out along with the oil, and the coal supply is not unlimited either. Nuclear energy contributes only one-fifth to the US power network, and 7% of power is hydroelectric. Only 2% of US electricity production is from renewable sources. As we continue to burning up the world's dwindling fossil energy sources at a terrifying rate, we simultaneously unleash catastrophic damage to the natural environment.

around 900 gigatonnes with perhaps 18 000 Gt of resources.[45] Oil reserves are around 150 gigatonnes. Proven sources of natural gas are about 175 1012 cubic metres (representing about 105 gigatonnes carbon), but it is estimated that there are also about 900 1012 cubic metres of "unconventional" gas such as shale gas, representing about 540 gigatonnes of carbon.[46] Carbon is also locked up as methane hydrates in polar regions and under the seas. Various estimates of the amount of carbon this represents have been made: 500 to 2500 Gt,[47] or 3000 Gt.[48] In the past, quantities of hydrocarbons were greater. According to one source, in the period from 1751 to 2008 about 347 gigatonnes of carbon were released as carbon dioxide to the atmosphere from burning of fossil fuels.[49] Another source puts the amount added to the atmosphere for the period since 1750 at 879 Gt, and the total going to the atmosphere, sea, and land (such as peat bogs) at almost 2000 Gt.[50]
Carbon is a major component in very large masses of carbonate rock (limestone, dolomite, marble and so on). Coal is the largest commercial source of mineral carbon, accounting for 4,000 gigatonnes or 80% of fossil carbon fuel.[51] It is also rich in carbon – for example, anthracite contains 92–98%.[52]
As for individual carbon allotropes, graphite is found in large quantities in the United States (mostly in New York and Texas), Russia, Mexico, Greenland, and India. Natural diamonds occur in the rock kimberlite, found in ancient volcanic "necks", or "pipes". Most diamond deposits are in Africa, notably in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, the Republic of the Congo, and Sierra Leone. There are also deposits in Arkansas, Canada, the Russian Arctic, Brazil and in Northern and Western Australia. Diamonds are now also being recovered from the ocean floor off the Cape of Good Hope. Diamonds are found naturally, but about 30% of all industrial diamonds used in the U.S. are now made synthetically.
Carbon-14 is formed in upper layers of the troposphere and the stratosphere, at altitudes of 9–15 km, by a reaction that is precipitated by cosmic rays.[53] Thermal neutrons are produced that collide with the nuclei of nitrogen-14, forming carbon-14 and a proton.
Carbon-rich asteroids are relatively preponderant in the outer parts of the asteroid belt in our solar system. These asteroids have not yet been directly sampled by scientists. The asteroids can be used in hypothetical space-based carbon mining, which may be possible in the future, but is currently technologically impossible.[54]
Isotopes
Main article: Isotopes of carbon
Isotopes of carbon are atomic nuclei that contain six protons plus a number of neutrons (varying from 2 to 16). Carbon has two stable, naturally occurring isotopes.[14] The isotope carbon-12 (12C) forms 98.93% of the carbon on Earth, while carbon-13 (

In 2041 The Antarctic Treaty will expire which means that foreign countries will be allowed to tap into Antarctica's immense natural resources! Antarctica is predicted to have massive oil/natural gas reserves, rare earths/metals and immense fishing grounds. This means Antarctica could become a potential battleground for world powers such as the United States, Russia, United Kingdom, France or China.

Mexico opened up a third round of bidding on Tuesday for 79 private oil companies, both national and international, to exploit the country’s oil reserves. Although the government claims that privatization will spark foreign investment, analysts warn that it is part of an unspoken strategy to dismantle Mexico’s state-run oil company, PEMEX, and hand it over to transnational banks and companies in order to guarantee the energy future of the United States. Nevertheless, adverse conditions in the oil market, including low prices and volatile markets, may cause their plans to backfire. Clayton Conn reports from Mexico for teleSUR

Despite plummeting oil prices and a glut in global supplies, members of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), have decided to increase oil production levels despite growing disagreement among members over the strategy.
OPEC, which provides a third of global oil, recently decided to increase its collective output to 31.5 million barrels per day, despite crude oil prices dropping to a seven-year-low, now hovering around $40 a barrel.
Made up of Algeria, Angola, Ecuador, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Venezuela; the oil cartel has been supplying an already over-supplied market with cheap oil - with all of its members now feeling the pinch.
But countries such as Venezuela have been the hardest hit. With 95 percent of its income from oil, Venezuela is witnessing its worst recession since the 1940s, and the economy is expected to shrink by 10 percent this year.
Venezuela wants OPEC to change its policy but influential players like Saudi Arabia are insisting on keeping production levels high, because they don't want to lose customers to non-OPEC producers like the United States.
US oil and shale gas production has been expanding in recent years, and with reduced domestic fuel demand - this could lead to less reliance on crude imports and a lifting its oil export ban.
Kim Zietlow, an economist at Humboldt University in Berlin, joins Counting the Cost to discuss OPEC's refusal to cut oil production and what this means for the future of the oil cartel.
Iran's return to the big stage
Iran is about to re-enter the world of oil markets after years of sanctions and isolation.
With the world's fourth-largest crude oil reserves and the second-largest reserves of natural gas, the Islamic Republic was pumping around 4.5 million barrels of oil a day ten years ago before international sanctions brought that right down to 2.8 million barrels.
When sanctions are lifted however, that could rise by a million barrels a day, depending on whether international companies decide to return and invest there.
Azadeh Meskarian, a solicitor with the Iran Department at Zaiwalla & Co, joins the programme to discuss Iran's return and the effects it will have on the oil market.

Proven reserves, also called proved reserves, measured reserves, 1P, and Reserves, are business or political terms regarding fossil fuel energy sources.. They are defined as a "Quantity of energy sources estimated with reasonable certainty, from the analysis of geologic and engineering data, to be recoverable from well established or known reservoirs with the existing equipment and under the existing operating conditions." These terms relate to common fossil fuel reserves such as oil reserves, natural gas reserves, or coal reserves.
Operating conditions includes operational break-even price, regulatory and contractual approvals, without which these items cannot be classified as proven and are usually classified into probable. Price changes therefore can have a large impact on classification of proven reserves. Regulatory and contractual conditions may change, and also affect proven reserves amount.

A private company in Saudi Arabia says the kingdom’s foreign reserves dropped further in October as the price of oil remained low.
According to Jadwa Investment, the Saudi foreign reserves fell to 644 billion dollars at the end of October, down from 651 billion dollars in the previous month. Since the start of the year, Riyadh has withdrawn 88 billion dollars from its foreign reserves to finance the budget due to the sharp fall in income from oil. The commodity makes up over 90 percent of public revenues. The Saudi economy has been under strain as Riyadh is pushing ahead with its war on Yemen. Saudi Arabia has also been spending huge sums of money to fund terrorists fighting to topple the Syrian government.

Turmoil is an indie game that has the feeling of the 1899 oil rush that happened within the United States in a liner area but randomized level development. I will be during a review of the game upon completion on my thoughts of this build.

“We are talking about a strata which is 350 meters thick and what is important is the thickness and the porosity,” the company’s chief geologist, Yuval Bartov, explained. “On average in the world, strata are 20-30 meters thick, so this is ten times as large as that, so we are talking about significant quantities.

Turmoil Gameplay Information:
Turmoil offers players a visually charming, tongue-in-cheek take on the simulation genre inspired by the 19th century oil rush in North America. Get a taste of the rivalry of the time as you earn your way to become the town’s richest oil baron.
Search for oil using a dowser, mole or scanner. Once found, you can build a rig, create a pipe network to bring up the oil, and store it in silos waiting for the right time to sell. Every level is time-based, so buy upgrades to sell more oil faster than your rivals. As the mining seasons float by, the town goes through different stages of growth. New upgrades become available, as well as new territories with oil rich grounds.

March 28, 2012
The Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) is an emergency fuel storage of oil maintained by the United States Department of Energy. It is the largest emergency supply in the world with the capacity to hold up to 727 million barrels (115,600,000 m3).
The current inventory is displayed on the SPR's website. As of February 29, 2012, the inventory was 695.9 million barrels (110,640,000 m3). This equates to 36 days of oil at current daily US consumption levels of 19.5 million barrels per day (3,100,000 m3/d).[1] At recent market prices ($102 a barrel as of February 2012[2]) the SPR holds over $26.7 billion in sweet crude and approximately $37.7 billion in sour crude (assuming a $15/barrel discount for sulfur content). The total value of the crude in the SPR is approximately $64.5 billion USD. The price paid for the oil is $20.1 billion (an average of $28.42 per barrel).[3]
Purchases of crude oil resumed in January 2009 using revenues available from the 2005 Hurricane Katrina emergency sale. The DOE purchased 10,700,000 barrels (1,700,000 m3) at a cost of $553 million.[4]
The United States started the petroleum reserve in 1975 after oil supplies were cut off during the 1973-74 oil embargo, to mitigate future temporary supply disruptions. According to the World Factbook,[5] the United States imports a net 12 million barrels (1,900,000 m3) of oil a day (MMbd), so the SPR holds about a 58-day supply. However, the maximum total withdrawal capability from the SPR is only 4.4 million barrels (700,000 m3) per day, making it a 160 + day supply.
On November 13, 2001, President George W. Bush announced that the SPR would be filled, saying, "The Strategic Petroleum Reserve is an important element of our Nation's energy security. To maximize long-term protection against oil supply disruptions, I am directing the Secretary of Energy to fill the SPR up to its 700 million barrel [111,000,000 m³] capacity."[4] The highest prior level was reached in 1994 with 592 million barrels (94,100,000 m3). At the time of President Bush's directive, the SPR contained about 545 million barrels (86,600,000 m3). Since the directive in 2001, the capacity of the SPR increased by 27 million barrels (4,300,000 m3) due to natural enlargement of the salt caverns in which the reserves are stored. The Energy Policy Act of 2005 has since directed the Secretary of Energy to fill the SPR to the full 1-billion-barrel (160,000,000 m3) authorized capacity, a proce

Peak oil, an event based on M. King Hubbert's theory, is the point in time when the maximum rate of extraction of petroleum is reached, after which the rate of production is expected to enter terminal decline. Peak oil theory is based on the observed rise, peak, (sometimes rapid) fall, and depletion of aggregate production rate in oil fields over time. Mostly due to the development of new production techniques and the exploitation of unconventional supplies, Hubbert's original predictions for world production proved premature. Peak oil is often confused with oil depletion; peak oil is the point of maximum production, while depletion refers to a period of falling reserves and supply.

Ron Harrell, Chairman Emeritus at Ryder Scott Company LP, presented "Petroleum Reserves Estimates: Where We Have Been, Where We Are and Where We Appear to be Headed" during the 2007-2008 Society of Petroleum Engineers Distinguished Lecturer Series.
About the Lecture
This presentation clarifies what the term “oil and gas reserves and resources means in several contexts. Various parties and stakeholders – for example regulators, financiers and producers – have differing needs for reserves information. However, whatever the need, all reserves estimates must be based on a sound understanding of the prevailing definitions and the value of adequate high-quality data. Trained, ethical and independent reserves evaluators must interpret and present these estimates. The term “independent” should apply to internal reserves staff as well as third-party reserves evaluators.
This presentation will describe ongoing efforts by the sponsors of the Petroleum Resources Management System (PRMS) issued in 2007 to engage evaluators worldwide to begin to explore evolutionary modifications to the PRMS embracing geological appraisal and technological advances since 2007. Included also will be a listing of many countries and stock exchanges adopting all or part of the PRMS for their regulatory reporting and governance.
