Detroit U.S.A.: Once the most prosperous city in America. With a booming manufacturing sector and cultural magnetism, the city had bright horizons after World War II. But as the 1960′s rolled in, the marriage of Big Business and Big Government overtook Detroit. The central planners in government needed the powerful corporations, and the powerful corporations came to depend on the bureaucracy, too. The marriage worked well for the politicians and for their corporate cronies, but Detroit itself entered a decades-long decline. America watched as Detroit slowly bled people, jobs and revenue. Politicians tried spending money. They tried raising taxes. The more they taxed and spent, the faster the city declined.
Detroit still had its "Big Three" auto manufacturers, until two of its crown jewels, General Motors and Chrysler, imploded in 2008 under the weight of reckless and subsidized mismanagement.
Instead of allowing market forces to rebuild Detroit and the auto industry, the United States handed billions of dollars to General Motors and Chrysler.
Five years later, the city of Detroit is bankrupt and almost $20 billion dollars in debt. Meanwhile, General Motors has a cash balance of over $20 billion, still owes the taxpayers over $10 billion dollars that outgoing CEO Dan Akerson said will not be paid, and the company continues to benefit from an unprecedented $18 billion tax gift from the bankruptcy.
Why is General Motors walking away with billions while Detroit dies?
How did so much money change hands between the world's most powerful corporate leaders and government officials while delivering on so little of the promise sold to America by central planners? Bankrupt: How Cronyism & Corruption Took Down Detroit answers this question, and many others. Complete with the candid analysis of pundits, journalists, analysts and government officials, sourcing of historical news and government archives, and on-scene interviews with everyday Detroiters, Bankrupt sheds light on what happened to Detroit, and who is to blame.
And most importantly, it asks "What is next for the Motor City?"

“Cronyism,” a new rallying cry in all political quarters, is now being offered as a reason not only to restrict free speech but to impose “income equality” on the grounds that the rich obtain their wealth only through “gaming” the system. Is there any truth to the claims that our government is corrupt and cronyism rampant? The answer is yes, but not in the way that proponents of more government power claim. This talk by Steve Simpson explores the true nature of government corruption and cronyism, how it manifests itself in various ways, its consequences, and what to do about it.

Donald Jeffries returns to the show to discuss his soon to be published book You Didn't Build That, an expose of elite privilege and corruption in American society. We discuss how the rich stay rich through a multitude of corporate welfare schemes and how the Horatio Alger idea of the self-made millionaire is largely a myth. We also talk about the destruction of the middle class and how blind greed on the part of the "one percent" is likely to lead to social upheaval.

Corporatism, otherwise known as Cronyism or Crony Capitalism is one of the most misunderstood ideologies that exists to this day, people often confuse Capitalism with Cronyism and in this video I seek to give the Cronyism definition to give people a clear understanding as to what Corporatism is, the differences between Capitalism and Cronyism as well as what can be done to prevent Corporatism.
Corporatism gives rise to monopolies through state intervention and in this you will even learn about a brief history of Standard Oil and the monopoly myth and what benefits big business can have to the economy. I feel this is vitally important information to help people understand the rights and wrongs about Cronyism to give people a better understanding of Corporatism.

Key members of the California State Labor Relations Board (ALRB) staff have a revolving door relationship with the United Farmworkers Union. These cronies move between the Union and the State Agency taking care of Union business on the State payroll. Chaired by William B. Gould, the ALRB is charged with overseeing the Union in an unbiased and impartial relationship. An election by farm workers to decertify the union has been held up in the courts by this group for almost two years at a cost of millions of taxpayer dollars, while the workers languish in the fields.
