Nunchaku (ヌンチャク, nunchaku?) is a traditional Okinawan weapon consisting of two sticks connected at one end with a short chain or rope. In modern times the nunchaku were popularized by Bruce Lee in his movies.
The word nunchaku comes from the Ryukyuan languages. The origin of this word is unclear. One theory is that it derived from the pronunciation of the Chinese characters 兩節棍 (a type of traditional Chinese two section staff) in a Southern Fujian dialect of the Chinese language.
In the English language nunchaku are often referred to as "nunchucks", "nunchuks", or, incorrectly, "numchucks". The "nunchuk" variation is used in the English language as the name of the Wii console's Wii Nunchuk controller.[relevant? – discuss]
One popular belief is that nunchaku were originally a short Southeast Asian flail used to thresh rice or soybeans (that is, separate the grain from the husk). According to Chinese folklore, nunchaku are a variation of the two section staff.
Peasant farmers of Okinawa were forbidden conventional weaponry such as arrows or blades so they are said to have improvised using only what they had available, such as farm tools. This gave rise to the theory that nunchaku were originally developed from an Okinawan horse bit (muge), or that nunchaku were adapted from a wooden clapper called hyoshiki carried by the village night watch; made of two blocks of wood joined by cord, the night watch would hit the blocks of wood together to attract people's attention and then warn them about fires and other dangers.
Lee Barden (born September 9, 1960) is an American martial artist, famous for his skills (nunchacku) Barden is trained in Wing Chun, Chinese Kenpo, American Karate, Jeet Kune Do, Filipino Kali and Lissajous-Do Weapons System. Lee Barden was born in Fort Myers, Florida during Hurricane Donna. When Barden was thirteen, he saw Enter the Dragon, starring martial arts actor Bruce Lee, which inspired his training in the martial arts. He built a homemade set of nunchaku out of a broomstick and a dog's collar. As a teenager, Barden began his martial arts studies at a local dojo.
Do you remember
That night in the garden?
We exchanged
little words
little kisses
Under the pale moonlight
Do you remember
Queen of hearts in your card deck?
Placing her in in my pocket
You said, "I'll love you forever"
is the color of my heart
On the side road
Being hit by your charm
And you remember
How you told me then
That you would be my man oh man na na
Is the color of my heart
On the side road
Being hit by your charm
Take it now
We will need it tomorrow
Life is easier to swallow
God, this must be the time
In the name together, all
The purity that in ones heart
And prepare for- raw
And sour is the taste of blood
Rising us like the dawn
We wake up to the sound of war
With the light so sudden
Sir, forgive me for what I did to you
And what you’ve done to me
It’s nothing personal you see
But I need this quarrel
We cannot, not do
Even when we know that what we do
Is wrong, we have a self destruct button
Inevitable ticking like a time bomb
Shells on the shoreline
We love, stories about a place
Of milk and honey, sun of gold
What’s this place to me?
We cannot, not do
Even when we know that what we do
Is wrong, we have a self destruct button
Inevitable ticking like a time bomb
And we’re following the steps, of sages That have
walked this road before
Making all the wrong moves, knowing-
Knowing all the roads that brought us here
Doing what our fathers did
Making all the same mistakes indeed
The land of milk and honey on the shore
All we ever had to deal with
Is the downpour
Got no milk and no honey
Oh, we got our fathers
You and I got nothing to look for, Obviously
Got no milk and no honey
But I met your children
As you from crimes would pardoned be
Bonnie Parker, and Clyde Barrow
Let your indulgence set me free
One night, one night our lord,
Tells us to drink the best wine first
He's the god of love, every night
And for us, what's there not to love?
A loose cannon gathers no moss they say
A banker gathers few friends,
Nothing is wasted
Nothing's ever saved, nothing is ever safe
This is captain sensible calling
One night, one night our lord
Tells us to drink the best wine first
He's the god of love every night
And for us, what is there not to love?
Heart breaks- I won't talk about it
Milk spilled- I won't add to it
Oh, you dour motherfuckers
You can leave your whining out of it
When I tell them- drink the best wine first
He's the god of love every night
A city of forests, what is there not to love
About a loose cannon?
The banker dies alone
This is captain sensible calling
When I was just a little one
My mama used to tell me
“Don’t loose your head
You’ll get there
Life is hard
But not unfair”
It wasn’t long ago
I learned I have been played for a fool
But I let it go- I let it go
We must keep our spirits High!
Come to me mother
And whisper in my ear
Tomorrow is another day
And soon another year
It’s hard to run fast as time slips away
And I didn’t begin to love you like I should
Anyway
So pick up those oars
And row madly up the stream
Put more juice in the engine
Let me see a little steam!
Years and years of rowing
Up and down
It seems
To port town to port town
They're trying to find the sea
Come to me mother
I want to know you are near
We're closer than we’ve ever been
It’s never been so clear
“Life is too short”
Well that’s what they say
and I didn’t begin to love you like I should
Anyway
Come to me mother
And whisper in my ear
Tomorrow is another day
And soon another year
It’s hard to run fast as time slips away
And I didn’t begin to love you
Yes I didn't begin to love you yeah
Until I was so far away
I picked those oars
And I rowed madly
Stream to river
River to sea
Till you mother
Whisper to me
Pick up up those oars
and row madly up the stream
Put more juice in the engine
Let me see a little steam
Years and years of rowing
Up and down it seems
To port town to port town
They're trying to find the sea!
Come to me mother
And whisper in my ear
Tomorrow is another day
And soon another year
it’s hard to run fast
As time slips away
And I didn’t begin to love you like I should
