ARM Holdings Plc (NASDAQ:ARMH) shares rose 32% to 362.4 pence in London trading, the most since it first sold shares, on speculation that Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) may be looking to buy the company, according to a Bloomberg report.
ARM is the U.K designer of semiconductors that are used in Apple's iPhone. Its designs are also used in the iPad tablet computer, according to ISuppli Corp., who added that Apple's acquisition of ARM would not give Apple's products a "competitive edge."
In April, the company denied speculation that Apple may bid for it. CEO Warren East said that customers are able to license ARM's designs without having to buy the chip developer.

at a media event in San Francisco on Tuesday, British chipmaker ARM Holdings showcased its latest processor - the ARM Cortex-A72 chipset - which is more powerful and energy-efficient than most of the current standard processors.
With ARM chipsets already powering a number of smartphones and tablets, ARM claims that the newly-unveiled Cortex-A72 processor is nearly 75 percent more energy-efficient that other processors. ARM claims that the efficiency-related enhancements made to the new processor will help reduce the strain on the battery life of smartphones and tablets.
Moreover, going by the information shared by ARM officials at the media event, the performance of the new Cortex-A72 processor will be 3.5 times higher than comparable chips which hit the markets last year.
According to ARM's Marketing Vice President Nandan Nayampally, smartphones and tablets equipped with the new Cortex-A72 chipset will have the capability to manage massively complex computing tasks, like voice analysis, without requiring to connect to the Internet.
ARM has revealed that the new Cortex-A92 processor has been licensed to "more than ten partners." Three of the companies with ARM has partnered for the new chipset include bigwig Taiwanese firm MediaTek; and two top apps processor companies in China --- Rockchip, and Huawei's chip division HiSilicon.

ARM is a family of instruction set architectures for computer processors based on a reduced instruction set computing (RISC) architecture developed by British company ARM Holdings.
A RISC-based computer design approach means ARM processors require significantly fewer transistors than typical CISC x86 processors in most personal computers. This approach reduces costs, heat and power use. These are desirable traits for light, portable, battery-powered devices—including smartphones, laptops, tablet and notepad computers, and other embedded systems. A simpler design facilitates more efficient multi-core CPUs and higher core counts at lower cost, providing improved energy efficiency for servers.

What most matter in the design of IoT, or Internet of Things and wearable devices are power consumption and security.
For example, what users of Apple Watch feel the most uncomfortable with is that they have to recharge them almost every day.
Mostly, a CPU is a power guzzler, as the constant wake-up from static, or sleep mode and active run-up of data-intensive apps consumes lots of power quickl

[289] Greece’s bad deal and Canadian currency war?
Canada’s currency has been falling in recent months. In January, the Bank of Canada slashed its benchmark rate to 0.75%. However, some are saying that it’s not the Bank of Canada who should be blamed for the tumbling currency but rather the economy. Canada is a major oil exporter, so the lower prices have meant a 3% decline in income. Erin weighs in.
Then, Erin talks with John Brynjolfsson – CIO

ARM Holdings plc's ambition goes beyond smart phones into server and smart grid market. Numbering its Cortex CPU processors from M0 for smart metering to A50 series for data center servers, the Cambridge, U.K.-based processor architecture IP provider is looking everywhere where low-power budget is in high demand for a next stream of revenue.
Yet, ARM won't build its vision of 'ARM processor everywhere' alone on its own , but on a broad range of partnership in the same way that it has created an entire ecosystem for its mobile processor architecture for smartphone and tablet PCs.
At ARM Technology Symposium 2012 held in Seoul, Ian Drew, executive vice president of marketing and business development wit ARM Holdings said, "We can talk about how low power devices really change the way people consume data. As people consume more data, it needs to be transmitted to the network. So, we need to talk about how low power and intelligent infrastructure work well both in base stations and servers. Transportation and the rest of the industry take about 40% of power usage. About 50% of power generated get lost on the network".
Added he," We need to install intelligent devices on the network. If we do all over that, over the next 10 to 15 years, we will be able to become a lot more efficient with all these devices that we use."
Thanks to ARM's low power processors, according to him, about 6 billion connected devices are on the Internet, today. Yet, they are squeezing out the network capacity. But, they are also dramatically increasing the power budget of the base stations and the data center.
Furthermore, over the next couple of years, those connected devices will be connecting to other local networks like IEEE802.15 ZigBee and sub-GHz to create several trillions of the Internet of things' according to him.
The explosions in the data traffic will further strain the power consumption as well as the capacity of the network and data center to the limit.
That's what ARM bet on with its wide range of low power and high-performance CPU professor families.

In this episode I do the third raid in Alexander Normal called The Arm of the Father. I do the raid as a Paladin wearing item level 180+ gear.
Living Liquid:
This boss repeats the first 3 phases are repeated twice until he goes into his final phase. The outer edge of the arena is covered in electric field that will stun, deal damage over time and paralyse anyone standing in it or gets knock backed into it. You should also tank the boss in the center for ease.
Phase 1 - Human
The boss cleaves in this form, keep him facing away from the raid.
Protean Wave - Conal AoE in several directions that deals damage and knocks back.
Splash - Raid Wide AoE.
Sluice - 4 players get markers above their head, spread out as you will deal AoE damage around yourselves and spawns circular AoE underneath several players.
Rotation: Protean Wave - Sluice - Splash x 3
(Monks should use Form Shift during phase transition to Coeurl form to keep GL3 and gain 3 stacks Chakra)
Phase 2 - Hand:
The hand does a heavy cleave that needs to be shared between both tanks.
Wash Away - AoE knockback.
Shortly after Wash Away, the hand will split and spawn Liquid Limb, the off tank needs to take this add and face both hands away from each other and the raid, they cleave and cause Blunt Resistance Down.
Rotation: Cleave - Wash Away - Cleave - Cleave - Split - Cleave (both adds) x7
(Monks can use Tornado Kick when tanks have 7 stacks and gain Chakra V during phase transition)
Phase 3 - Tornado:
This is the add phase. Throughout this phase two types of adds will spawn in the centre and make their way to the edge. Gear Lubricant have low HP and can be dealt with easily. The other add called Piston Lubricant have higher HP, and half way towards the edge will cast an ability that will make them rush to the edge, this should be stunned to give you more time.
There are two more mechanics to take note here.
First one is an orange tether from the boss to a random player, this player needs to pass the tether to a tank who then needs to stay away from everyone else. When the tether goes, that player do an AoE around themselves hitting extremely hard and will kill most players except a tank.
The second mechanic is 2 players will get an icon above their head, a + or a -, note both players can get the same icon. If the two players have the same debuff (e.g. + and +) they should stack together in the centre, if they have opposite debuffs (e.g. + and -) they should spread out. These players will be stunned and either pulled together (opposite) or knocked back (matching debuffs).
Phase 4 - Final:
This phase is forced at % based, most likely around 35%, some of our Tornado phases lasted 1 or 2 waves of adds.
This is the same as the Human phase, with a mix of the above mechanics added, cascade and a debuff added to the cleave.
Cascade - Deals AoE damage and spawns 3 large AoE pools around the room.
His cleave will now apply Blunt Resistance Down, the tanks should tank swap about every 4-5 stacks.
Living Pool may wipe the raid with Cascade if he hits his hard enrage.

What most matter in the design of IoT, or Internet of Things and wearable devices are power consumption and security.
For example, what users of Apple Watch feel the most uncomfortable with is that they have to recharge them almost every day.
Mostly, a CPU is a power guzzler, as the constant wake-up from static, or sleep mode and active run-up of data-intensive apps consumes lots of power quickly draining the battery power.
To make CPU as power efficient as possible, Freescale Semiconductor adopts a computational-task partitioning design scheme between two cores, taking a cue from ARM Holdings' big.LITTLE CPU design concept
Its recently-taped out i.MX 7 Series comes built with two different heterogeneous ARM cores - 1GHz Cortex-A7 and 266MHz Cortex-M4 -in what the chip maker says is the industry’s most power efficient applications processor.
The high-performance, but power-guzzling Cortex-A7 processor mainly perform computational-heavy tasks like Web browsing and video and image rendering, Meanwhile, the power-thrift Cortex-M series performs relatively light duties like.
"The ARM Cortex-M4 is a sort of MCU that runs on duty-light RTOS, or real time OS, while Cortex-A7 runs on full-scale Linux and Android OS, which consumes more power. for most of the running time, the Cortex-M4 usually prevails performing usual duty-light task at a low voltage, but when on demand for duty-heavy complicated tasks, the Cortex-A7 wakes up to do that computational cycle-guzzling tasks, " said Michael C. Kim, senior manager with Freescale Semiconductor Korea, Inc.

Third raid instance of Alexander. Fun fight... reminds me of the primals. Now to actually find a good group for last floor.
Floor 3
All phases are repeated twice, then it's the final phase.
Human phase: Avoid running in front of the boss, and spread out to avoid unnecessary splash damage
Hand phase Stand in the middle of the room to avoid the huge knockback AoE (will happen near the beginning of the phase). Tanks soaks the cleave together until a second hand appears. Offtank pick it up and point it away.
Tornado Kill every adds before they reach the edge (stunable). The single tether need to be taken by tanks and kited away. When two players get opposite debuff (negative/positive), they have to spread out. Same debuff mean stack in the middle.
Final phase: Mix of previous mechanics, with a "tank swap" (every 4-5 stacks)

Canada’s currency has been falling in recent months. In January, the Bank of Canada slashed its benchmark rate to 0.75%. However, some are saying that it’s not the Bank of Canada who should be blamed for the tumbling currency but rather the economy. Canada is a major oil exporter, so the lower prices have meant a 3% decline in income. Erin weighs in.
Then, Erin talks with John Brynjolfsson – CIO of Armored Wolf. John tells us why North American oil frackers aren’t relenting on production and gives us his take on Canada, Australia, and a number of northern European countries having larger household debt than the US or UK at the peak of the credit bubble. On equities, John thinks the profit picture “troublesome” given the policy divergence between the Fed and other central banks.
After the break, Erin sits down with Frances Coppola – associate editor at Pieria and author of the blog “Coppola Comment.” Frances tells us the latest in the UK economy and housing market ahead of the May elections and gives us her take on what a Grexit could mean for the rest of the periphery.
And in The Big Deal, Erin is joined by Boom Bust producers Edward Harrison and Bianca Facchinei to discuss the future of computers and smartphones. ARM Holdings is predicting that mobile handsets will replace PCs as the principal computing device in two years. They would, since they make the CPUs powering those mobile devices. We think the move to mobile will proceed apace, but the two-year timeframe sounds aggressive. Take a look!
