В алматинское метро ежедневно спускается более сорока тысяч человек, а 2 года назад эта цифра не превышала 10 тыс. Примечательно также то, что примерно треть пассажиров общественного транспорта имеют и автомобиль,

Kazakhstan (Kazakh: Қазақстан, Qazaqstan), officially the Republic of Kazakhstan, is a country in Central Asia, with a minor part west of the Ural River and thus in Europe. Kazakhstan is the world's largest landlocked country by land area and the ninth largest country in the world. Its territory of 2,724,900 square kilometres (1,052,100 sq mi) is larger than all of Western Europe. In 2006, Kazakhstan had become the dominant nation of Central Asia economically, generating 60% of the region's GDP, primarily through its oil/gas industry. The country has vast mineral resources.
It has borders with (clockwise from the north) Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan, and also adjoins a large part of the Caspian Sea. The terrain of Kazakhstan includes flatlands, steppe, taiga, rock canyons, hills, deltas, snow-capped mountains, and deserts. With an estimated 18 million people as of 2014 Kazakhstan is the 61st most populous country in the world. Given its large land area, its population density is among the lowest, at less than 6 people per square kilometre (15 people per sq. mi.). The capital is Astana, where it was moved in 1997 from Almaty.
The territory of Kazakhstan has historically been inhabited by nomadic tribes. This changed in the 13th century, when Genghis Khan occupied the country as part of the Mongolian Empire. Following internal struggles among the conquerors, power eventually reverted to the nomads. By the 16th century, the Kazakh emerged as a distinct group, divided into three jüz (ancestor branches occupying specific territories). The Russians began advancing into the Kazakh steppe in the 18th century and, by the mid-19th century, they nominally ruled all of Kazakhstan as part of the Russian Empire. Following the 1917 Russian Revolution and subsequent civil war, the territory of Kazakhstan was reorganized several times. In 1936 it was made the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic, considered an integral part of the Soviet Union.
Kazakhstan was the last of the Soviet republics to declare independence following the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991. The current President, Nursultan Nazarbayev, has been leader of the country since then, and is characterized as authoritarian, with a government history of human rights abuses and suppression of political opposition.Kazakhstan has worked to develop its economy, especially its dominant hydrocarbon industry. Human Rights Watch says that "Kazakhstan heavily restricts freedom of assembly, speech, and religion." and other human rights organizations regularly describe Kazakhstan's human rights situation as poor.
Kazakhstan is populated by 131 ethnicities, including Kazakhs (who make up 63 percent of the population), Russians, Uzbeks, Ukrainians, Germans, Tatars, and Uyghurs.[13] Islam is the religion of about 70% of the population, with Christianity practiced by 26%;[14] Kazakhstan officially allows freedom of religion but religious leaders who oppose the government are suppressed. The Kazakh language is the state language, and Russian has equal official status for all levels of administrative and institutional purposes, related to the long history of Russian dominance in the region

Kazakhstan is populated by 131 ethnicities, including Kazakhs (who make up 63 percent of the population), Russians, Uzbeks, Ukrainians, Germans, Tatars, and Uyghurs. Islam is the religion of about 70% of the population, with Christianity practiced by 26%; Kazakhstan officially allows freedom of religion but religious leaders who oppose the government are suppressed. The Kazakh language is the state language, and Russian has equal official status for all levels of administrative and institutional purposes, related to the long history of Russian dominance in the region

Among varieties of Kazakh folk arts and crafts felting occupies a prominent position. Origins of this art date back to the end of the Bronze Age.
The Kazakh culture is the direct heir of nomad traditions that evolved in the prairies for almost three thousand years.
The art of koshmovalyanie [felting] of the Kazakh relates to household crafts and, at the same time, to artistic crafts as felt cloths were exported to international markets.
Felting is making a non-spun textile of natural wool and creating high-class works of art from it.
Felt production is a major part of creative activities of the Kazakh ethnos, that is determined in the first place by dominating prevalence of sheep, foundation of nomad way of life, and consequently abundance of sheep wool.
Felt served as the main external cover for yurt carcass. Yurts of wealthy people were usually covered with white felt.
Felt articles, due to quantitative volume, played the leading role in traditional everyday life of the Kazakh people.
Usually, felt production involved mutual help of female relatives, neighbors and friends. It was both social and collective creative activity accompanied by humorous traditional songs, couplets, rituals, food and games.
Before getting to work, people would slaughter a mutton and ask for blessing from God and the goddess of fertility, the ancestor of female crafts.
Almost all the process of making felt was accompanied by magic rituals.
Felting began with preparing wool.

What happens after detainees are released from the Guantanamo Bay detention facility? The answer to that question has, for the most part, been shrouded in secrecy.
When five former Guantanamo detainees were resettled to Kazakhstan in late December 2014, a senior official in the Obama administration was quoted as saying the ex-captives were now "free men". But what does that actually mean? VICE News traveled to Kazakhstan to find out.
Abdul Mohammed Rahman, also known as Lotfi Bin Ali, came into US custody in February 2003, accused of having ties to the Tunisian Combat Group and al Qaeda — allegations that Bin Ali has vehemently denied. Still, he was designated as an “enemy combatant” by the US military and was shipped off to Guantanamo, where he was held for 12 years without charge or trial.
In Department of Defense documents released by Wikileaks, Bin Ali was deemed to be of “medium intelligence” value. However, the 2004 intelligence assessment also contained a noteworthy finding, namely that Bin Ali suffered from heart problems, needed serious medical attention and, as a result, was “low risk." The military recommended that he be repatriated or transferred to the control of another country. Despite the recommendation, Bin Ali was detained at Guantanamo for 10 more years.
Lotfi is still sick, and appears to be getting sicker. His new home in eastern Kazakhstan poses considerable challenges to successful reintegration into society. "Life After Guantanamo" paints a portrait of the challenges of integration and the mysterious circumstances surrounding former detainees' basic rights and freedoms after being released from Guantanamo.

The modern day Republic of Kazakhstan has sprung from an ancient and varied history, spanning a time of early nomadic tribes to a Khan occupation, becoming a Soviet State and later declaring independence following the dissolution of the Soviet Union in nineteen ninety-one – when President Nursultan Nazarbayev became leader of the nation and remains so today.
Kazakhstan is categorised as the world’s largest landlocked country by land area, and the ninth largest country in the world. Bordering China, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, it is a bridge between Europe to Asia and amasses an area almost four times that of Texas. It is home to an estimated seventeen million people and the official languages are Kazakh and Russian.
Kazakhstan’s economy is the largest of all the Central Asian states, most likely due to its extensive natural resources. Its goal is to join the top thirty most developed countries in the world by twenty fifty, and pursue a period of modernisation and rejuvenation.

THE POLYGON, a documentary on the former Semipalatinsk Test Site, profiles the Soviet Union's infamous Cold War nuclear experiments where 600 bombs were tested from 1949 to 1989, before dismantling in 1991. 20 years later, filmmakers Kimberley Hawryluk and Scott Chrisman discuss filming inside the small village of Sarzhal and examine how Kazakhstan's government allowed 200,000 villagers to secretly become unofficial human guinea pigs, suffering from cancer, birth defects and mental illness as a result of radioactive fallout in this Antidote interview hosted by Michael Parker.
FILM & GUEST INFO:
The Polygon shines a light on the village of Sarzhal in East Kazakhstan, situated only 18kms from the perimeter of the former Semipalatinsk Test Site, that was home to over 600 nuclear detonations. Between 1949 and 1991 the Soviet Union detonated 116 above ground bombs, whose massive radioactive mushroom clouds were witnessed by thousands of innocent and unsuspecting Kazakh villagers. They gazed open mouthed at the spectacle, completely unaware that nuclear fallout was raining down on them, their children, livestock and homes. 20 years after the closure of The Polygon they are still suffering high rates of cancer, cancer related diseases and mental illness. The Polygon takes us on a journey from the twisted Cold War experiments to those victims who remain today, still suffering despite the emergence of Kazakhstan as a major economic player on the global stage.
KIMBERLEY HAWRYLUK, producer, is an Australian actress who has worked on shows such as the British series COLD FEET, ABC’s LOST, ALL SAINTS, HOME & AWAY, TALES OF THE SOUTH SEAS, HERCULES and GLADIATORS. Kimberley entered the world of acting at age 19 while she was studying languages and international relations at Bond University. Kimberley’s foray into documentary production began in 2008 after being introduced to the plight of the people of East Kazakhstan by Struan Stevenson, MEP. Producing and directing THE POLYGON has seen her lead teams to Eastern Kazakhstan in 2008, 2010, and 2011.
SCOTT CHRISMAN, director of photography, known for his ability to capture in moving image the subtitles of the human emotional spectrum. Hiscinematic style lends itself to a more commercial appeal, with smooth, flowing motion and finely tuned composition while his experience in the documentary world make for a perfect marriage. His understanding of technical know how and story telling ability as an editor make him well versed in the art of cinema. It has been his dream since he first started making films as a young adult to use the far reaching world of film to help effect global change.

The Charkhi Dadri mid-air collision occurred on 12 November 1996 over the village of Charkhi Dadri, to the west of New Delhi, India. The aircraft involved were a Saudi Arabian Airlines Boeing 747-100B en route from Delhi to Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, and a Kazakhstan Airlines Ilyushin Il-76 en route from Chimkent, Kazakhstan, to Delhi. The crash killed all 349 people on board both planes, making it the world's deadliest mid-air collision, the deadliest aviation accident to occur in India, and the third-deadliest aircraft accident in the history of aviation, behind only the Tenerife airport disaster and Japan Airlines Flight 123.

I tried doing some sort of impression of Borat or what ended up sounding like a relative of his. The video was really fun to record and at some points I had to stop trolling because I couldn't keep my self from not laughing from the stupid things I said to these people. If you had enjoyed this video than please remember to Like, Comment and share as well as subscribing for more videos! Thank you for watching :)
Nothing I say in this video to be taken seriously, It was all for humor!
No Racism was intended in this video either. This video was intended for the sole purpose of humor and making people laugh. I did not mean to give a bad impression/perspective of the people of Kazakhstan as I was only trying to in a sense mimic Borat.
The sound I used at the end was made by DE-MAAG.
